  1. The latest Beat magazine includes the WA Production Fundamental Bass plugin. To get it you need to go to https://www.serialcenter.de and request the serial number (which doesn't require entering a word from magazine, at least not yet). The code they send you can be used at the WA store (link is in the email you get) to get the plugin for free (when checking out be sure to remove the automatically included free product or you can't checkout with the code). You can then download the product from your WA account and will have a serial number for it. (You can also download the product from Beat magazine -- but that requires a word from the magazine and won't work without a serial number). Here's a link to the product: https://www.waproduction.com/plugins/view/fundamental-bass I get Beat (both German and English) through Readly, a Netflix for magazines subscription service. They have almost all the British computer music magazines included. (my initial impression of the plugin is it's kind of meh and most likely not worth your time, but it's a deal I guess so I'm posting)

  2. >>If I go thru the bug fixes in the last couple of releases, then I also see that many fixes are related to the new features! This is completely normal to the way we work. When we release a new feature we continue refining and making it as solid as possible before moving on to the next area. We also tend to fix issues by category. In every release we tackle areas like Plugins, editing, UX, workflow, performance and stability. So there is something there for everyone and the product gets better in every release. I’ll be the first to say that we still have plenty of room for improvement despite the fact that focus has been very high on making the product more stable since 2018. We look at the forums social media groups but the best way to get attention to problems and solve them quickly is to write specific and demonstrable reports of problems encountered, include a project file or video demonstrating the issue (if necessary) and include dump files if the issue is a crash or hang. And of course send the case to support and get a ticket to follow up. Following these basic steps has a much greater effect than making general statements like “I run into issues on every project”, etc. Not everyone has the time to do this, but if you care about getting issues fixed this is the only way.

  12. One thing I dislike (and this is true for most amp sim software I've tried) is, despite having an input level in the right range, the output level of presets is often clipping. This is true for a lot of the Amplitube presets in general. I almost always have to turn down the output gain to not be clipping. This is especially annoying when trying to scroll several presets. You have to stop and turn the output gain down on each one. Odd behaviour in my opinion. It seems to me, if your input is in the green your output sound be in the green. Not sure what I'm missing with that, but the same was true in Amplitube 4.

  17. This gets even weirder. . I tried Google but all returns are for Mac users. According to the manual the library should be installed along side the VST in the Steinberg VST folder. Nope. I was thinking maybe if I open Halion on my main DAW which has Cubase installed I could figure out were the heck the sound library is. I opened Cubase for the first time in probably 3 years. Man, there's all this On line crud and all sorts of junk to wade through just to load a basic template which includes the Halion and a piano. No sound, No piano file found? So even Cubase can't sort out how to use it even though I had used it a long time ago and it seemed to have a lot of sounds. @JoeGBradford Nothing really wrong with Asio4all if that's what working for your on board. My 3 computers were a no go when I tried to use it. My old Sony Laptop ran fine with asio4all and W7. I used Home Studio on that one just to mess around. I also would hook my interface up and I never had the conflict some people reported. People should try WASAPI Shared before they try Asio4all as this is much more simple to use.

  21. Thanks Noel! Very helpful. I'll redirect the Amplitube issue to IK Multimedia then. --- "The second file is a crash in the prochannel bus compressor on one of your buses. I'd like to investigate this further, so if you can reproduce this please let me know. Its hard to say what caused the crash just by looking at the dump file but the plugin's internal state is corrupted so its possible that heap corruption caused the issue. Unhandled exception at 0x00000000471E5CB7 (PCS-BusCM.dll) in TyC 0205 Patiamigos v3 1-6_04052021_171612.dmp: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xFFFFFFFE47227160." Ok, I´ll try to reproduce it. If successful, I'll send you the dump file. --- "All your other dump files in the public.zip are caused by you running with an old automation dll. Are you using an old version of @scook utilities to load the application? Perhaps you have already fixed this since your other dump file doesnt have this issue. If not reinstall Cakewalk since you have a wrong dll there which is going to cause crashes. The dump shows that you have a different version of cw130Auto.dll." Nop, I'm not using scook utilities. My Cakewalk version is the latest: 2021.01 build 098, 64 bit --- Thanks a lot!

  23. Half price sales with Cinesamples happen all the time, but I've never seen anything like the package they offer in this for $409. ($1644) Includes CineBrass PRO CineStrings SOLO, CineWinds PRO CinePiano Taylor Davis CineBrass Descant Horn. Just looking at the rest of the deal, the big ones sell for two hundred during the 50% off sale. Anybody who has had their eye on Cinesamples... Also it's a good time to get Tina Guo Legato if you don't have it yet.

  24. yeah, the value-added tax schemes are probably the most corrupt/evil by any measure. basically the government applies the VAT to every step, so it's often 35-40% by the time a consumer gets it - with most "built-in" by wholesalers and distributors. and because many of the VAT layers are not readily seen by the buying public, the governments adjust them all the time (you can guess which direction). this not only cause a competitive hit on the markets but effectively devalues the currencies involved. (as a disclaimer had the professional experience of building systems and as a result too much info on VAT schemes...) so for anyone thinking in the US that VAT is the way to go to "simplify" taxes, just say NO.

  27. @ET440 its not a driver issue. If the app is exiting after changing patches its most likely some plugin is corrupting the heap. unfortunately these issues are very hard to pinpoint and it may affect different apps differently since its corrupting memory randomly. You should definitely report this to the plugin vendor as a memory corruption issue. If this is reproducible please let us know and we can also follow up.

  30. I installed this and found two cons right from the go. Cons: 1. You need to install the Acustica product manager "Aquarius" to download and authorize the plugin. 2. It uses almost 2GB of disk space. For a channel strip plugin? Pros: 1. It looks purty. For me, not sure it's worth keeping on the hard drive as something I might only use occasionally. Also have no other Acustica plugins, so don't really want yet another product/license manager on-board. But thank you Focusrite, for continuing to offer premium freebies to us interface owners!!!

  31. So, I brought up the Manager and it said the amp was added. Then I opened Custom Shop, Refreshed My Gear, then spent all the time I cared to trying to figure out how to turn the non-owned stuff OFF so I don't have to see them. I even opened the manual. (gasp!) I never even got to the point of playing through a damn amp. Fail. Then I closed it and went back to working on my tune. I know a lot of you guys like these and I sound like an old curmudgeon, but oh well. The whole IK universe just doesn't "click" with me - at all. It shouldn't be this convoluted. OTOH, I noticed in my session that I've got Black 76 and Tape Delay, both of which I love! Then went back to playing with Kuassa and PA's Gallien-Krueger.

  34. Here is a reply to a similar thread How much space is returned depends on what was originally installed. The DAWs themselves do not take up much space. Removing old Cakewalk DAWS using the uninstall processes will likely break newer installs included CbB. If it does break, it will require re-installing CbB. There are strategies for freeing up space on the system drive such as moving sample and loop libraries to other drivers. Usually this type of discussion benefits from a good understanding of the current environment including hardware and products installed.

  38. Are we able to HIDE the amps we don't own yet?? I don't mean to sound ungrateful for the FREE amp because I'm sure it will sound great. But to be honest, I don't even try Amplitude anymore because I just don't find it very user friendly if you don't own everything, and I get frustrated trying to find "My Gear" along with all the demo stuff. There are too many other decent options. Nothing kills the creative spark more than pulling up software then have to hunt through tons of things you don't own just trying to find the ones you do so you can play...

  39. You regularly report bugs, which is great. If those 10+ producers also report those issues each time they occur CbB will soon become a DAW outperforming in stability (as far as is possible with the infinite number of different hard/software installs and projects...). From what you can see on the forum, issues directly reported to the bakers are handled fast and well (I've got the impression the last few months even more than before, maybe because after introducing large very welcome additions, there's now more focus on the lasting bugs?) so if your friends participate that will be for the good of everyone.

  40. Well you can make your own user interface for every plugin. With the already mentioned fx chain modul. It is limited, but you have 6 buttons and 6 rotary knobs that you can assign to parameters. I am waiting since sonar times for a FXChain 2.0 with more buttons, knobs and parameter read-outs like compression or loudness meters. With that you could create your own custom interface for plugins, and you do not have to rely on developers to provide a prochannel module. Imagine the FXchain 3 times as big as it is now with 18 rotary knobs, buttons and parameter read-outs. You could mix plugins and create the channelstrip of your dreams.

  42. How do you know you like it? And why? Right! You must've had some experience using it and got at least a general idea how this EQ is different from others. It can easily take weeks or months. No one's willing to spend this much time on each track. That's why we all need tutorials and howtos on basic to advanced sound processing.

  45. RAID 1 is mirrored drives - n>=2 of the same size (well, you can use different, but you only get the smaller sized RAIDed): so your capacity is the drive size, but you can lose n-1 drives and not lose data (just rebuild the array asap!). On paper, write can be slower than one drive (since you have to write twice) but will depend on controller, software/hardware, and likely negligible; read can be faster as you can pull data from n drives simultaneously - again, depends on controller etc. RAID 0 is striped drives - n drives, no duplication of data, n*capacity of smaller drive, faster read and write. Lose one drive and game over though... RAID 1+0 (or 10) is striped mirrored so you take n RAID 1 arrays and then RAID 0 the "virtual" drives. Effectively all the benefits of both RAID 1 and RAID 0, but twice as many drives required - you can lost a lot of drives to failure before you lose all data. RAID 5 is n>=3 drives, with data striped across all of them ( (n-1) data and 1 parity which is usually (always?) an XOR of the bits on the other drives); good read performance (want more? just add another drive to the array) but slightly slower write (caveat as above with controller, hardware/software etc) as the parity needs to be calculated and written on each disk write; you can lose any one drive and still have good, albeit lower, performance; lose 2 drives and it's game over (so replace and rebuild if you lose a drive asap). RAID 5+1 is RAID 5 with a hot spare that can be brought online into the array automatically (to rebuild it) if a drive fails. Same performance as RAID 5 and same redundancy (ie. lose one drive), but you don't have to physically swap a drive to get the array to rebuild. Obviously you need 4 or more drives for this, so it's more expensive per GB than RAID 5. Sadly, unlikely to have RAID 5 or 5+1 in hardware on a normal motherboard (ie. it usually needs a discrete controller which is aimed more at the enterprise market, so not cheap, but it'll have cache, battery back up to complete writes on power loss etc). 10 is probably overkill (it's more common for high performance servers) and you need a lot of drives for the capacity you want. 0 gives you no redundancy. I'd go for 5 if you can (good compromise and you can usually add drives to increase capacity/performance with no down-time - apart from the physical connection that is!), else 1 with 3 drives (but you'll need large drives which may make it too expensive, as you can't easily expand without throwing them all away and starting from scratch).

  47. @Josh Wolfer I'm sure for some users the multiple workarounds will be sufficient. If an in house solution is not added then users in search of a solution will find the workarounds invaluable. I do appreciate it when people provide workarounds they are aware of that addresses an issue. My intent was to provide an insight why an in program solution is more elegant. Most people I know have a particular way they want their tracks labeled both inside the program and when tracks are exported. It will be difficult to compete with an in program solution in this case. @Bill Phillips I don't think the developers are too worried about the program becoming unmanageable; otherwise why would this Feedback Loop forum section exist? But I agree that randomly piling on features just to be able to say there are new features is not a good idea either. The Feedback Loop sees a lot of posts. Actually more than I first thought there would be when the forum first opened. I've sometime wondered what more does a full featured DAW need? I don't automatically support all threads posted in the Feedback Loop. I rarely support a request that has DAW "X" has this feature and so should CbB. I don't support requests that want to modify how an existing feature works unless I use the feature and understand and agree to the why behind the request . I don't hesitate to ask clarification so I and others can understand why implementing the request may benefit many users. As an aside, if you have a post suggesting a better score editor, post a link to your post. I don't write scores myself but I'll be happy to look at the post and either support the request or ask questions so I can understand the request better. In this case, the request makes sense to me. It's not unusual for a person to export many variations of a song project. It is not unusual to create a custom mix for each participant at the end of a tracking session, create many variations of a mix for sound libraries or mixes that meet the specific requirements of a cloud media provider. I can imagine each of those situations having stringent naming requirements for the tracks or mix. If you engage multiple times with someone it makes sense to me for CbB to have a track label editor to save time and assure requirements are always accurately met. At the very least it makes sense that I, the user, should determine what method is followed to label exports.
