  1. No one really ran him off. Some posters were being rude and making unfounded and insulting accusations or just strongly disagreeing with him around the same time. I think because he invests so much time and effort here that he took it very hard and I think he just got burnt out. Hopefully, after a vacation, he'll be back. He has to realize that the vast majority of us greatly appreciate him and value how much he means to this community. If that wasn't already obvious when Larry was actively posting here, it sure is clear now. Even if he comes back just to comment in posts, I'd really like to see him back. He's a giant part of this place for me and, I'm quite sure, most of the regulars. It's just not the same without him. Also, IBTL.

  2. Larry has been radio silent longer than this before. We can gradually refill our wallets as we await his return.

  3. I miss the guy. He will be back... eventually. But that being said, I was just thinking about how I appreciate everyone who has been posting deals so we can continue to spend in his absence. I love you all! ❤️

  7. Back in April of 2010 I ordered my i7 Pro + Studio DAW from Jim Roseberry and I am proud to say that it is still humming along as the only DAW in my studio! I have since upgraded the OS to Windows 10 and swapped out all the original hard drives for SSDs. It runs beautifully and is STILL powerful enough to handle my largest mixes! It is so quiet, I record my vocals just a few feet away from the DAW! I would highly recommend Jim's company. To top it all off, Jim is a great guy! This Cakewalk forum is also my number one musical resource. Many good people have given me great advice and help here. I've made major purchases for my music making based on advice from people like Jim Roseberry, Bapu, and CCLarry to name a few! Thank you all! Mark

  9. I love ProjectSAM. Rather than make a new player that makes it harder to use their instruments, they make it easier. The changes are so dramatic it's like getting new libraries in free updates. I liked what they did with the Symphobias so much that I bought TrueStrike. The big improvement is in making multis. Whenever adding an instrument, you can either replace the previous instrument or add it. So you can see ten of these instrumements on your screen at the same time. You can solo, change the volume. But here is the big thing. In the settings you can quickly move the instruments around on your keyboard into keyboard splits. Do you want two to play when you are on some keys? Do you want to be able to play one instrument solo on a different part of the keyboard. You can give each one a color which you can see. The thing I love is that it changes the colors on my NI Keyboard light guides. I am praying that they will do new interfaces for the Swing! Series. If they did Animator, it would totally change it. Animator has a lot of different kinds of sounds in each patch. For example, one patch might be a lot of funny cartoon percussion sounds. With this new interface you could just select the ones you wanted and then pair them with any sounds you like from the other patches. Just like you can with drums in True Strike. Very easy. It seems like I have bought a lot of ProjectSAM. I guess that's because I like each one so much,, it paves the way for more purchasess. If you aren't familiar with the Symphobias, one of the things they are known for is orchestral special effects. They have tons of things in the Symphobias that you can't really get with other libraries. Putting those kinds of things in makes an orchestration sound much more real. This is why a lot of composers may move to other orchestral libraries (the Symphobias are old libraries after all), but they continue to use the Symphobias. And you can see a lot of this kind of thing in The Free Orchestra. Also, they come with preset multis that are kind of ready-made soundtracks. ProjectSAM always plots their own course, which is why you can't compare the Swing! series to other jazz libraries. No matter what other library you choose, the Swing! libraries will give you a ton of stuff that is not in them. For them, a jazz library means it has drum grooves, Django Manouche, a lap steel, ukelele grooves, a harmonica, etc. But mainly all these different kinds of ensembles. It's not just trumpets and saxes. I did a video on the Symphobias vs Albion One some time ago. Apologies for the awful sound on my narration. This was the video that made me so mad that my wife, who had been listening to me rage against Vegas for so long, told me to shut up and get another editing program. This video switched me to Premiere, and I'm so glad. And of course, not long after I made this video, ProjectSAM changed the interface!

  10. HoRNet AnalogStage MK2 (€5.99 with code instead of €19,99) Works on the upgrade too, so the upgrade from the original to MK2 is only € 0.90 🙂 Use Code: SSASMK270 https://www.hornetplugins.com/plugins/hornet-analogstage-mk2/

  17. Not necessarily a deal, but I wanted to give @Jim Roseberry some kudos for my new DAW. We recently had two threads regarding new DAWs - @Larry Shelby thread on building his own new DAW: And @Starship Krupa excellent thread about repurposing parts for a new build: My last DAW was self built around 7 years ago, and it was time for a new one. I'm a career "IT Guy," and although I spend most of my time these days in meetings and on airplanes, I've tried to stay technical enough to do everything for myself. I've built countless computers over the last 25 years or so, so I generally know my way around computers. I built a new water cooled gaming computer last year, and I came to the realization that I really just don't enjoy it anymore. Quite honestly, it was a pain in the rear, and I pretty much hated the process. It had always been a matter of pride for me to build my own computers, but I decided my next one would be purchased. I started researching DAW builds around a year ago, but really couldn't find exactly what I wanted. I'm generally picky about things, and needed some flexibility that most manufacturers couldn't provide. Around 6 months ago, I contacted Jim and started talking to him about what I needed (and, sometimes more importantly, what I didn't.). Jim was extremely friendly, gracious with his time, and certainly understood my requirements. We emailed back and forth for several months (he probably wondered if I would ever hit that "purchase" button), and ordered a rack based DAW several weeks ago. I received it about two weeks ago, and started getting it all set up. Jim has continually been a great help to me, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. So, if any of you need a new DAW and don't want to build your own, check out https://www.studiocat.com/

  18. Sound Packs? Whatever. Don't get too excited, because they are small, but they are free for all SampleTron 2 owners: The Grunge Tapes and The Lost String Quartet.

  19. Looks like this was answered correctly. Your guitar is not part of the capture process. TONEX SE is free with TONEX Capture which is the absolute best pairing. And once released it should be a choice with select hardware I'll remind the team we usually add SE versions to that list and see what's up there. Not borrowed. Paid for it, cash money. I played it, it's a beast of an amp - sounds amazing. We don't typically borrow anything unless it is something like Dimebag's estate's gear that we can't keep for obvious reasons. You can see the full measurement process using the Dumble in our latest video posted this morning. Stompboxes can be measured either on their own or part of the chain. Right you can by the SE, regular, or MAX version and use the Tone Models across platforms.

  21. ^^ Yeah, absolutely this. If it's a USB-only mic, you're kind of back to square one because ASIO can only use one device (or more accurately one driver) at a time. The interface should be your only device, and you'd plug your mic into that using an XLR cable, like Greg said. Cakewalk will only see what Windows can see, so like I said earlier, make sure you install the drivers for your interface first, then plug in it and let it detect in Windows. If Windows can't see it, Cakewalk won't either. Once you know that's all working, you'll want to go into your audio preferences in Cakewalk and choose only that device, and change the driver model to ASIO. If you get that far and it's all connected and working for both Windows and Cakewalk, but you don't hear any sound, you may need to set the hardware outputs to your new interface, but we'll cross that bridge when you get there.

  22. An audio interface won't 'detect' anything plugged into it; they will work or not. If it's some type of USB or Bluetooth mic that is plugged into the computer, it won't 'detect' that either. You should only use microphones that plug into the interface with 1/4 inch plugs or XLR plugs. When working with your recording program, all audio should go in and out of the interface. That is part of the simplicity of using an audio interface; one device, no complications. I'm sorry you're having trouble registering your device. Did it come with a CD or DVD of utilities and drivers? Perhaps with a software mixer? Or directions to log into their web site to download these things?
