  1. It appears NI broke something important in the new Kontakt 6.3.0 release the other day. They have released a fast update to fix this problem. So if you did update to Kontakt 6.3.0 you really need to get the new 6.3.1. If you haven't updated, well now it's even better. Run Native Access to get the update.

  4. Guys!? Seriously! SIX posts and NO links? What would Lars say?? (At least @Reid Rosefelt posted a video...) https://focusrite.com/en/plugin-collective https://blackroosteraudio.com/en/products/magnetite Too bad for me - I bought this a few months ago when it was on sale at Audio Plugin Deals. I got it because I like the VR-PRE73 so much. If anyone is NOT on the collective and wants it for what I paid ($20), hit me up with a PM. I don't need 2 copies. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I have recently purchased an Apollo x8p and this is my first mix on the unit and I would value your thoughts and comments. This song was written by @Grem and played by @Simeon Amburgey and sung by myself. If the comments are good I will change the sound track to the video. Thanks again. Gary P.s. I have two songs that I have promised people I would record for them on here... but I needed to learn what I was doing with the new equipment first.

  6. Originally played at the Koln Concert 1975 by Keith Jarrett. I in no way am trying to compete with the great man. This is my attempt at an inimitable work of true art. Keith Jarrett is genius personified. https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=14076484

  7. Check your email for 'sent from' "jrrshop.com - sales". I did and everything that I have bought from them has been successfully registered with the vendors. But I really hope that Plugin Boutique doesn't ever go away. I have a crap ton of installer instructions and download links in there... ๐Ÿ˜

  9. If you are referring to T-RackS 5 SE you should be able to get that with Gear Credits. Though we also have AmpliTube Joe Satriani announced officially which is available for Gear Credits too.

  10. And here I thought I was an optimist. You're like the kid in a barn full of sh*t who's happy because he's sure with all that sh*t there's gotta be a pony in there somewhere.

This is partly why there's essentially no OC headroom on modern AMD CPUs.

  14. That's ok, all opinions welcome. I have not used it, so don't know what it's like in real world use. The "heavy CPU use" turns me off a bit. Don't know if I will try the demo. Put it here to let others know. People have different requirements for what they want out of an amp sim. Some people like fiddling with the BIAS amp. I use S-Gear now, almost exclusively and all for the opposite of the reasons you've stated above. I don't want complexity or large GUI's. Small GUI, with just amp controls and small box underneath for mic placement, cab etc. I can have 4 instances of it on the screen at once if I want and of course no crippled presets or internet connection nagging. Great sound, has a sheen to it that I don't find on others but it is not for heavy metal. There are others better at that. The amp controls respond in a nice way, as you would expect rather than making massive or ugly changes in tone or doing nothing. It's great for my midi guitars as well. Fits into the mix with other instruments really well right out of the box. I can run it raw, with no reverb or effects and it sounds fine, easy to make midi note adjustments when you can hear it that way. Then I always know I am just a tweak away from getting it to sit right. Add effects later.

  15. Sorry to sperg on your deal thread, but if I can save someone the other 60% of the price... ๐Ÿ˜ --- I spent around $500 over the years on Positive Grid things (BIAS FX, BIAS FX2, BIAS AMP, BIAS PEDAL, the metal/bass/acoustic expansions, and god knows what else). Was happy with it at the the time. Obviously; I kept throwing more and more money at them. Felt they dropped the ball on BIAS FX2. Bought it on day 1, and a year later they'd addressed none of the problems with it. Got tired of the slow-as-molasses UI, the whole "this was designed for an iPad, yet you're charging premium prices for the PC version" thing, and the constant "we just introduced a new thing so you don't have it 'all' unless you buy it, and until you do the ToneCloud is going to taunt you with patches you can't use" money-grabbling. Blue Cat Audio's Axiom crushes it in every way that matters, at least to my mind. It's fast, designed for people with lots of screen real-estate that want to see all the controls simultaneously, and powerful. (You can insert arbitrary VSTs -- including another instance of itself! -- anywhere you'd like in the signal chain.)

  16. Very nice cover. Good vocals and backing tracks. The arrangement is JUST different enough to remind the listener this isn't the original. To my ears the stereo field is a little wide; but that's a matter of taste. For many songs of the era mono was the preferred mix because the songs were played either on AM radio or a jukebox. So the pop stereo mixes either were heavily center weighted or full left and right with little center.

  21. I don't get why they have such bad luck with their websites. This stuff has been going on for years. They have such great customer service brought down by terrible servers. Remember that time they were down pretty much the whole month of November? That couldn't have been good for business.

  25. 10900k will run slightly hotter than the 10700k... and is (under heavy load)... right about the limit of what you'd want with air-cooling. ie: The 10900k's that we've tested/used have been able to run all 10 cores locked at 5.3GHz. That's about the limit of quality air-cooling. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Assuming you also want the machine to run quiet (not like a vacuum cleaner)...

  28. Ugh, I don't like their installation kind. It is a single DLL for all of their plugins (like Waves!) and their activation manager sounds also odd to me! And there is really spare information about their licensing and offline installation. I think I will pass to install it!

  30. support says "I can see that this eCoupon has been used already under a different account. Can you please get back to Focusrite for a new one?! Thank you." they only went live yesterday....who knows the other freebies are free for everyone I think EDIT they just got back to me "technical issues" and have given me a new code

  31. I have a hunch that the BandLab Link Digital interfaces are probably pretty compatible, and should you happen to encounter any issues whatsoever, you'd find the support people to be motivated to help resolve them. It's funny how insulated we of this forum are from the rest of what BandLab does. Did anyone else know or remember that BandLab makes/markets interfaces? I vaguely remembered that they had a couple of iRig types in development a while back, but look what they're shipping now and....doesn't it seem a little odd that a potential market for audio interfaces such as Cakewalk users hasn't been pitched to more aggressively? Not that I'm complaining, I don't mind a lack of hucksterism. It does seem like something of a missed opportunity here, and they look like nice enough little interfaces, although if the rate is fixed at or tops out at 48K as the ad copy implies I would pass.

  32. Just to be clear, Rapture and Rapture Session/Pro are completely different products. The fist Rapture (classic) was available in Sonar 7 thru X1 as an LE version (the full version was available for sale as a standalone), and then the full version was bundled with X2 thru Platinum. Rapture Pro was a completely reworked product that combined Dimension Pro and Rapture. It was never bundled with Sonar, but the Rapture Session was. Session was intended to be a step up freebie that would import your Dimension Pro, Rapture (classic), and Sound Center presets. Session is still a nice player/librarian for those sounds.

  33. You can get that today. Check the box to suppress the warning. If you don't have gear in the preset open Custom Shop and click "Try" if you'd like to hear the preset as intended (and the preset is intended for those that want to try gear but who may not have the know-how of those who can try each piece individually with settings from scratch)

  34. I have this and if everything works out I will do a livestream on Friday around 3:00 pm. It is building on concepts from previous Sample Logic libraries but refining them in a really good way. One of the best updates is the preset browser. It makes it very easy to find what you are looking for. Stay tuned ๐Ÿ“บ

  35. This is another reason to why I think this need to be considered, other then "clients asking unnecessary questions all the time." Generating capital and gaining users, it's every brands number 1 rule. So, I'm sticking with my request -- a facelift will be a benefit. I think you've phrased it very well. @Starship Krupa

  37. Funny, isn't it? The same clients would probably think it's totally awesome if you had a 50-year-old hardware compressor racked up, or a similar vintage guitar or drum kit in the studio. But software processors with a 20-year-old UI are yucky. The Sonitus fx suite code is part of the IP that BandLab purchased, and as you noted, it's still signal processing powerhouse, so there's no reason other than time and resources that these FX wouldn't get the facelift you (and I) would like. I would use them more if I didn't have to squint to see them. Also, if there were some way that they could be made into PC modules, hey, why not? And thanks, personally, for reminding me that they are there. I frankly haven't explored them much because of their tiny UI's. But when I tried the dbx compressor preset I was pretty pleased with it.

  40. Hey David... such a shame that no one has replied to this post. There are so many videos out there on how to do everything audio related. Mastering is a tough one to do well on your own, but it is still possible to get some decent results (I wouldn't have too high of hopes for yourself on this one though). I have just recently started a YouTube channel and I'm working on a video which has links to other high quality video's so you can find all the answers to your questions in one video. As of right now I've got just at 45 video links which will be included in the video. Hopefully it will be released to my channel in a few weeks time. Until then, try this video by Produce Like A Pro. You won't be disappointed if you watch his stuff... high quality info from a trusted source who's been in the industry a long time. You can check out my channel here where I've got a few video's on Getting Started, EQ, and Compression in Cakewalk. Hopefully some of the content will be helpful to you. And if you're interested in the video with massive amounts of incredible video links, just hit the subscribe and notification buttons. All the best.
