  1. Years owned Stutter Edit: 5 years, 4 months, Number of times I've used Stutter Edit in an actual musical piece: 0 I'm waiting for them to fix BreakTweaker's awful performance (and make the UI resizeable). That I actually might be willing to pay $79 for. But Stutter Edit, while cool, is not worth more than $29 in today's market.

  2. Good news! I actually emailed support the other day and asked this same question. And the answer is YES, it does work with the FREE player.

  6. A cheap bundle of Film, video and audio production ebooks, PDF's etc. About 5 relate specifically to audio production for film/video but the other books also deal with audio as part of the process as well. Could be of interest if you are looking at composing for movies or on set recording of sound, effects etc. Also good as being a reference library for understanding the process of film making. https://www.humblebundle.com/books/become-filmmaker-focal-press-books?linkID=&mcID=102:5ef243204eff3e2dfc72c269:ot:5df2dc6fd8a09ee6231fcfa7:1&utm_source=Humble+Bundle+Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2020_06_24_becomefilmmakerfocalpress_bookbundle&linkID=&utm_content=cta_button

  7. My next project is the sample drive. Changing my system drive to SSD was a big game changer! Got my secondary SATA hard drive split into two partitions, one for samples and one for archives, and its nearly full. Going to add another SATA SSD exclusively for the samples, and dedicate the spinner to archives. Then I can buy more sample libraries. Which is out of the question at the moment, and I'm afraid I might miss a good deal! 🤣

  14. One thing I noticed is that unless I remove a synth from the synth rack, it continues to load while the project is loading. It seems that you can delete the midi and instrument track but the synth will remain in the synth rack. If you don't want a synth in your project any longer, if you remove it from the synth rack, you will be prompted if you want to also remove the associated tracks. That's how I remove them now so my projects load faster.

  15. @Jon White I understand frustration when things dont work right, but you are making some pretty wild assumptions here. Because something doesn't work as expected the problem isn't always the DAW. DAW's live in a complex ecosystem of hardware, software, plugins and drivers. We have thousands of users (including complete noob's) with no issues like what you describe. This is not to say that the problem may not be in Cakewalk, but your troubleshooting so far isn't conclusive at all. Many plug-in and driver vendors test their stuff exclusively on Mac's, and perform poorly under certain conditions in Windows. They also choose to test in only a subset of DAW's out of familiarity or resource constraints. As a result a symptom that shows in one DAW may not show up in others depending on how the DAW communicates with the device. This doesn't automatically make it a DAW problem does it? You mentioned using Lynx. Are you running their latest drivers? Very recently they had a bug with MMCSS which would cause major issues when the DAW had MMCSS enabled. I reported this and it was fixed by them. Turn off MMCSS in preferences and see if that helps. If not, try playing the same project with a different audio interface (preferably USB) if you can find one. You can also use the onboard audio device for the test. If the problem goes away that would typically isolate the issue to the audio interface driver. If you indeed find this, let us know and I can follow up with Lynx who we communicate with often. PS generally, don't use WASAPI mode with pro audio devices. Most pro audio drivers completely suck with WASAPI since they never test with it.

Upgrade price is 79,-$ instead of 99,-$ https://pluginfox.co/products/izotope-stutter-edit-2?variant=34579612106903 hmm tempting but a little expensive..

  18. Home Studio didn't have a synth rack and once you realized this fact you soon forgot about it. I like the visual feedback I get from the synth rack. At a glance I can see what I have available already loaded. I might have synths in the rack I'm not using while experimenting with different sound possibilities. It's a little quicker sometimes when trying different instruments like say an electric pianos. You can tweek the sounds so each one is as close to what your after and then simply change the midi track output to try each in turn.

  19. This is a "Never Ending Story"! My last build (I didn't plan it this way, life dictated it!) took me a lot longer than I wanted/thought it would. But that did allow me to watch prices on SSD and M.2 drives. I was able to get several 1TB SSD drives, and a 500gb M.2 (for system) and a 1tb M.2 for storage, and I didn't pay much over $100 for any of them! Best strategy right there! Definitely!

  21. I'm actually okay with the drum kits. I have a number of them. They do add new ones on occasion. I would like more midi packs and maybe more ethnic extras. I actually have SD3 and EZDrummer 2 and end up using AD2 more often. I do have more of their kits though.

  22. We were working in something new, and unique: ElectroNylon. The first Nylon Electric Piano based on spectral transformation. A new instrument that allows you to go from Nylon Guitar to an Electric Piano in real-time and just moving a slider. This is how it looks, and this is how it sounds like. ElectroNylon was made upon spectral models from a Nylon Concert guitar, a Reed Electric piano, and a Tines one. It's based on real-time spectral transformation algorithms and it uses just 35MB of your hard drive. You can also see VIDEO here Is on intro price for $29 (regular $49) Grab it now before it ends.

  23. I'm in the same boat. I bought it off of KVR a couple of years ago for $20 or so. I've never used it, but it is fun to spend a Friday night playing around with it. Cheaper than a movie and popcorn these days.

  31. As I mentioned above, it is not a full kit. According to the XLN site, it contains the Fairfax Vol. 1 Adpak kick, snare, hihat and crash. If you buy full kits, there are templates and a map for CbB at https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013364/Setting-up-a-Drum-Map-for-Addictive-Drums-2-in-SONAR AD2 has a very powerful map tool built-in. The "Map Windows" is loaded from the ? in the upper-right of the plug-in UI. Not sure if this is available in the demo.

  35. Synth -Rack might also be a good and easy adress for "MIDI remote control" purposes. Just right-click and take a ride... What a pitty, limited to about 42 (visual) automation knobs for one specific softsynth... (more assignments are possible, but about 42 knobs are being showed up in at most two rows) Numberated knobs would be a good feature!! right now, Z3TA is on cha 5/16, Nexus on cha 4, Spire on cha 3, Kontakt on cha 6, Spark on cha 10/11. For me this is the easiest way organize MIDi remote and control all my softsynths with only one MIDI hardware device. In this case "Arturia BeatstepPro" --> Control-Mode

  36. Got me at first too. The secret is that double-clicking renames a preset (as you say), but clicking the space to the right of the preset name lets you change preset.

  39. It sounds nice however there could be some obstacles/concerns from perspective of wider group of people ... 1. Some of us (like me) have jobs (with different shifts) and different time zone than other guys so it could be hard to synchronize our presence in real time 2. My language skill is pretty poor what means while I can write more complex things not in 'real time' somehow (meaning quite long time using occasionally google translator) it could slow down significantly 'live chat' experience unless I would be limited to sentences like: great, cool, ok what I can do pretty fast

  41. I did wonder if they were non-theme but didn't have time to check. On a white background, they look good, on a dark one, not so much. Very annoying that some things aren't themed (the track colours being the most annoying!). What I've done for the FX widgets is to export your images as png's and drop their transparency to about 60%. The green then looks marvelous, the red doesn't, so I need to look at that. When I've got some that work, I'll pop them on this thread so you can take a look and see what you think.

  43. Thanks for listening Wook! I appreciate the feedback! Not really sure why the low end is sounding thin to you though. I check my mixes on multiple systems, and actually considered lightening the low end a bit, but then decided to leave it. Maybe my ears are deceiving me.... Wouldn't be the first time! Thanks again!

  44. I agree with the issue of sound preview with Syntronik. I have the same beef with the instruments in SampleTank 4 Max. The load time kills me when auditioning sounds. I think that the sounds are excellent in both products. Was even thinking about upgrading my sample drive to an SSD to improve that. But in comparison, I recently picked up Arturia's Analog Lab for the massive amount (6500) of preset analog synth sounds provided. And they load instantly for me. Would probably consider jumping on the full collection, but the amount of tweaking in the Lab is sufficient for most performance needs. Sound designers or hardware synth lovers might disagree with that last statement.

  45. I love Syntronik (as exquisite sample based synth emulations) but I agree with John that a sound preview function is essential, similar to the Native Instruments NKS system.
