  3. Don Bodin posted about this but his post was closed due to affiliate links. I just want to say that Realitone's Sunset Strings was one of my favorite purchases in years. Honestly I couldn't believe that Mike Greene would come out with something like that. It is more like an Orchestral Tools product, like NI's Arkhis. Or a Ben Osterhouse instrument made with a lot of money. But Sunset Strings sells for $199 ($299). So when he came out with Nightfall, which intros at $129 or $99 for Sunset Strings owners, I thought it would be smaller in some way. Little brother. Niche. But I was surprised to see it was just as good. Just different. It's a huge library. That really surprised me. So I do think it's a deal, something you should consider before you spend all your money on BF stuff. For me, this is a keeper. And I've stopped buying regular orchestral libraries--just stuff like Ben Osterhouse's and this. https://realitone.com/products/nightfall But Mike Greene says that it is selling faster than any of his other products. So I just wanted to say this is something special and maybe other people who have it can give their opinions. Don's post ended up being about people's thoughts on whether he should have been allowed to post it, so Nightfall itself got short shrift. @Simeon Amburgey I don't think you've done this. I would love to see your thoughts on it. (And to hear you play it)

  4. If you are new to this section of the forum, I wanted to give you a heads up. It's getting close to Black Friday (BF). This year is shaping up to be at least decent so far. So there are many people posting deals on here at a pretty spiffy pace. What that results in is great deals are getting bumped to the back pages. I went and looked and a lot, I mean a lot of good deals are to be found on the 4 and 5 pages of this forum. And they were only posted two days ago!! So don't just look at the front page. Might wanna spend some time on those back pages too!! Happy BF Shopping!!

  8. A priest, a minister, and a rabbi want to see who’s best at his job. So they each go into the woods, find a bear, and attempt to convert it. Later they get together. The priest begins: “When I found the bear, I read to him from the Catechism and sprinkled him with holy water. Next week is his First Communion.” “I found a bear by the stream,” says the minister, “and preached God’s holy word. The bear was so mesmerized that he let me baptize him.” They both look down at the rabbi, who is lying on a gurney in a body cast. “Looking back,” he says, “maybe I shouldn’t have started with the circumcision.”

  9. For anyone interested who's not getting the lower price listed -- particularly those in Europe -- an alternative way to get Phase Plant for ~€72 is via a Beat magazine e-paper subscription: https://www.falkemedia-shop.de/sound/beat/dauerbezug/digitalbezug?#premiums (You can also get Impact Shreddage 3 Hydra or Acoustic Samples Pianos or other bonuses instead, if you prefer.) I went this route a few weeks ago. It takes a bit longer (there's a two-week period before getting the bonus serial, possibly to make sure people don't cancel right away just for the freebie?), but you also get a year of Beat (in German), access to back issues and associated samples/software. Possibly not worth the extra hoops versus $73. But against $99, it could be an option to consider.

  10. Creative modulations, magnetic saturation, authentic tube sound... Pulsar Echorec produces a very dense sound that sits somewhere between conventional delay, reverb, and saturation. Look no further for an iconic delay with character... this is it. Pulsar Echorec is yours for only €29. https://pulsar.audio/echorec/

  13. There is already a Solo button in the VSTi window header. Please also add the Mute button, which would do a lot for those who need to momentarily mute a VSTi, without having to go to track view and search for the right track, among maybe many many tracks, to find the right track to mute. Thank you! Example (I added a mute button in Photoshop, just to see what it could look like):

  14. One of the reasons I like Spire so much (in addition to the sounds being so useable) is that there is a universe of add-on preset packs and they are often (in various up to 50% sales through the year) super, super affordable - like in the $10 to 12 range. I have no idea how many add-on preset packs I have accumulated, but way more than for other synths. They also are pretty consistently full of great sounds. One example of the contributors is Howard Smith - he has a a number of very excellent packs. I've easily used at least one or more Spire tracks on every song I've created for the last couple of years.

  19. I started a new project just for exploring all the new soundsets. 24 instances of Zebra so far - and this is one of the reasons I like Zebra - the project takes 3 seconds to load. btw, a rough count of all these patches comes to around 3,000. I reckon I'll have thoroughly explored them all just about the time Zebra3 is announced in 2025.

  20. It does indeed. The biggest standout for me was Phase Plant and Spire, but even Mastermind was a touch cheaper. I did wonder about holding off, but I've missed out a few times when sellers end up excluding certain products, or they expire the code, so I just jumped! Sometimes the listed price is supposed to be the price after the discount and I've waited for a while with Phase Plant so I wasn't taking any chances 🤣

  26. I was afraid that's what you'd say, ZincT, as it's exactly how I've done it in the past, and that's how I have my patch libs organized as well. This time, the drag 'n drop method just flat out didn't work. However, I was able to use the Import Soundset menu option from the context menu you get when you right-click on the Zebra logo. The problem was with the existing files. Some of them refused to show up in the browser after scanning. However, this morning I opened an existing project, ran the scan again, and surprise! there they were. I haven't checked them all yet, but I really only cared about the Hollo collections. Curiously, even though Zebra said they weren't there, it had no problem loading previously-used patches into the project, with their correct names. I suspect it may have been a display issue all along. But I do appreciate your reply; if nothing else it reassured me that I wasn't suffering from early-onset dementia. So it appears all's well. Now the fun begins, exploring all the new patches and flagging the favorites.

He's doing the freebies on this page. https://vi-control.net/community/threads/44-list-of-freebies-to-grab-during-black-friday-cyber-monday-christmas-new-year-promotions-2022-edition.131802/ which is where I found this. And he's doing the full list here: https://vi-control.net/community/threads/live-now-november-black-friday-cyber-monday-deals-2022-edition.131829/ As with my old Tiger the Frog post, there are some good things to find in these posts that are worth putting up on this forum.

  41. I say props to him. If he can come up with a better UI than what Kontakt has, I'm in. I was a late "adapter" of Kontakt. My biggest gripe is they don't make it easy to see the UI. It needs updating bad. Really bad. And they have not even made an effort in that direction I have some SP stuff and I like it. Sounds good to me. And of course, there is always SampleTank!!

  44. Installed!!! From the manual...🤣 Legal Statement "I, Björn Arlt, in full possession of all my mental powers, hereby declare that I never claimed nor will ever claim in the future that PECS does sound like or even close to the original PE-2000. PECS does not sound like the original PE-2000 – it cannot because it is a digital plug-in and thus not blessed with the fairy dust of good old analog hardware. And everybody knows that it is a well-known fact that digital machines do not sound warmish-analog but coldish-harsh. Having said that I hope that the inevitable shit storm might possibly get cancelled."
