  1. If you haven't already used the coupon (1x per account) this offer is still good. One possible usage: You can go to PluginBoutique, make a $5 purchase, get the Nugen Element pack free and then upgrade the element (monizier, sterioizer or stereoplacer) of your choice ($69 - $50).

  2. This is the best kind of deal of all, everything is FREE, the presets and the synth they're used in. So, everyone can afford this. I found this excellent resource of free presets for VITAL, the free open source synth. In case you aren't already familiar with VITAL, it's a great sounding synth --I love it more than most synths I've paid for (there is a paid version with some additional presets and features,, which is a good way to support the developer/development of the synth, but it's completely unnecessary for using these presets). There's a lot of great sounded presets at this site, they're well categorized and you get to listen to a demo of each one before deciding if you want to download them. https://presetshare.com/presets?query=&instrument=2&genre=&type=&orderby=relevance

  3. https://www.echosoundworks.com/free-kalimba This has probably been free all along, and I have other freebies from Echo Sound Works. I couldn't find a topic about it, so here it is. It is free, but full Kontakt required. Although there is also a Logic X and Ableton version included. Which probably means there are wav files included.

  5. AudioAssault: The Crown - Guitar Amp Sim (Mesa Boogie) $5 with code - RRP $39.99 Don't let the price fool you. This punches well above it's price 🙂 Use: AAFIFTY to get it down to $5 3 Channel Californian Amp Sim Modeled on the Mesa Boogie Triple Crown 100* https://audioassault.mx/products/thecrown The clean channel on this one is probably a bit nicer than some of their others. The gain channels are great too and it's got some different functionality. Instead of just clicking on the different IRs, it's more of an amp room so you can just click on the different amps as well and move the microphones too. A great feature that all amps should have, is that all the controls are per channel, so you can configure clean different to high gain and all the bass, mid, treble etc are retained when you switch between channels 🙂 Walk through

  6. Asper, an new experimental synth combining wavetable, subtractive, phase distortion and physical modeling for sound generation is available as a FREE download. Idea was to add humanization to the sound on oscillator level in order to simulate behavior of real world instrument where each hit is different. It is not trying to simulate sound behavior like in analog synth, but rather to simulate Round Robin. Instead of complex modulation I decided to split wavelet OSC to two layers that each has it’s own control. This way is you can easily control (for example) attack per velocity without assigning any modulation source. You can detune each layer, enable comb filter, enable pitch envelope or phase distortion to each layer individually. All blending control have individual shape setting for each layer or even inverse mode in order to have different amount or phase while using same MIDI CC or velocity. Features include: One wave table oscillator 118 wave tables that can be combined in multiple ways Comb filter for both wave table layers Advanced amplitude adjustment with break point control for better control Phase distortion for each wave table layer with 5 different shapes and it’s own detune Mod section for Phase distortion with sync option One noise sub synth Round Robin simulation on oscillator level for both wave table and noise OSC Set blending mode based on velocity or control with assignable MIDI CC Ability to control shape for morphing, filter, FM amount starting from Exponential to Logarithmic Filter with parallel or serial mode Mod section for filter Shaper, two modes Saturation Portamento for mono with adjustable velocity level for triggering Vibrato module Interactive GUI with mouse over for each element that can be changed or adjusted -lEach control that have assignable MIDI CC have additional display for assigned controller All envelope controls have additional 6 quick sub presets to choose from Ensemble module for for unison or even reverb like simulation Simple soft clipper to prevent clipping that can be disabled Randomization for almost each subsection Simple preset manager One page with adjustable GUI scale, 80 up to 150% Asper is available to PC users (VST2 and VST3). 7. For those interested in a free taste of the plug-in version of VCV Rack. From the Readme.md in https://github.com/DISTRHO/Cardinal/ It contains over 900 of the free VCV Rack 2 modules. Compiled binaries for all OSes are here. On Windows, the installer exe is required. The zip contains plug-in binaries and redundant resource files. I skipped VST3 for now.

  8. Hey up all Anyone with any doubts about the capability of this platform to deal with what is needed in a live situation - I can testify it's excellent. This is us last weekend at Gosport Waterfront Festival high up in the listings supporting the headline acts. My rig (closest) has a songfile running selected from the Setlist whilst my very capable partner has his own Reason-based sound arsenal running seperately but he triggers start and stop from a previously mentioned footswitch (thanks to all on here for that one!) I'm remotely driving my Roland FA06 wirelessly via a Panda MIDI dongle from the AX Edge (the wireless audio can be problematic) but it's all being dealt with by Sonar with ease. It's also driving the outboard effects and tonight we are back in a local hostelry with it hooked up to our DMX lighting system. All done by Sonar. Who needs Protools? Once again, thank you to all for your timely advice and encouragement on here. HARDDRIVE

  19. I do have a few of their libraries. Can't afford the more expensive ones. I just love the way the interface makes it easy to mix and match these sounds together. I know you can stack instruments in Kontakt but this interface is so much more appealing to me.

  22. I have that CZ V, as well as the Virtual CZ, and an original CZ1000 (not still in the box). The printed manuals for CZ1000 and the patch book were all you needed to get started with a synth. Big fun, although I was disappointed that the hardware keyboard, 49 full size keys. was not velocity sensitive. So the soft synth versions now allow me to have that long missing feature! The Virtual CZ sounds just like the original, but I think that I like the UI from Arturia better. When I used to try to run my CZ1000 through my home stereo (couldn't afford studio monitors in the 80's), the low notes nearly ripped the 12" woofers out of the speaker cabinets. Those fat mono sine waves were nasty!!! 🤪

On sale for $15 now https://www.stagecraftsoftware.com/products/simplestems/?coupon=MadCheap Of course, spleeter is still free (same quality but without the UI conveniences) https://github.com/deezer/spleeter Interestingly, iZotope Music Rebalance (RX) and SpectralLayers Unmix also use spleeter models. There may be minor differences in the tweaks but it's essentially the same algorithm and it really comes down to which UI you prefer

  37. When I first discovered IKM here in the forum, I just assumed it meant they put the needs and interests of musicians first ahead of anything else. Then I decided that it probably means they are musicians. I also started to wondered if they have jams at meetings, etc. In any case, I assume they all share a love of music, not as listeners, but as people who do (or have done) music: that is as musicians.

  39. Value is different to cost and it's in the $49 section though. IK has normally worked on value, so even with the APD one it's a shift from what they've previously done.
    1 point
  40. Well this is the thing. They are mincing words when it comes to the "value" of the product. Is the value what you paid for it or is the value what they post on their site on the promo? If I were to buy the product from another reseller who has it on clearance, and I paid 50% off, it has no bearing on what the value of the product is. IKM should not be changing the value of the product based on what you paid for it. They should be deeming the value of the product based on what they are posting on their site for the promo. You can buy Modo 2 upgrade for $188 on Thomman. IKM can't turn around and say, "We checked the Thomman site yesterday and you paid $188 so you are not in the $249 tier". And also, the jam points are a benefit you pay for through purchasing other products from them. It's just IKM up to their usual shenanigans again.

  43. Sorry Tim, didn't mean to ignore your reply. These are some inspiring observations, indeed, so I started writing and ended up with yet another novel. I figured I'd spare you guys this kind of nonsense. But here's part of it. You are quite correct in your remark about guys with synths. Maybe because I'm not a synth player, it's easier for me to keep a certain innocence. It's always been a lot easier to write on anything but the guitar. Hand me an instrument I've never played and I'll have 5 or 6 song ideas in the next 30 minutes. Partly because I'm not self-conscious about it and partly because things don't work the way I would expect, so there's a sense of adventure. Just as it is a lot easier for me to write in English than it is to write in French. Despite my English vocabulary being a mere fraction of what I have at my disposal in French, and despite the studies in French literature, it's easier for me to say the real things in English - notwithstanding the occasionnal infelicities. Anyway, it would be more accurate to say that I decided to focus on songwriting, and that the music I write doesn’t seem to really require much guitar. And actually, I am not sure that it could be labelled as a specific genre. I refer to it as EBM - for Embalmed Body Music, as a gag because of the underlying theme. And because in most case, there definitely is an element of dance music in it. But I also make constant use of theremins for melodies, and acoustic instruments of all kinds. There is something very organic about it. I believe I think of it as electro in a very broad sense, because I rely on sequencing extensively and make heavy use of instruments traditionally associated with the genre. But stylistically, it’s just a melting pot of things that I love, drawing inspiration from everything from 50's sci-fi movies, to soundtracks by Nino Rota, to Alice Cooper, to Depeche Mode, to Suicide Commando and all that very noisy industrial music. But you could just as easily find references to things like Charlie Parker with Strings in some of those songs... A lot of it has got to do with instrumentation and "packaging" - that's what gives the project it's sense of identity, for a huge part. As for the rest, some people manage to express themselves by performing - and that’s all the better for us who enjoy watching them. I mean, I am a KISS fan - I genuinely love the theatrics and all that stuff. And I used to love being on stage too, and to rip off SRV, and Jimi, and Page, and all those cats I admired. For a while, I thought my personailty would eventually emanate for that weird mixture and that my onstage persona would become something more personal than the sum of my influences. But as I started writing my own music, I began to feel less and less comfortable putting on a show and obeying the stereotypical choreography of a given genre, whether it’s head banging or doing windmills… It’s like wearing someone else’s underwear. So I realized that I am not a performer. And after over 40 years playing the guitar, I am comfortable admiting that I don't really have anything to contribute on that instrument specifically. I've spent the last 10 years pushing boundaries, learning new techniques, trying to play faster. These days, maybe in part as a result of studying Eastern philosophy, I am reverting to a way of playing that's a lot more "zen", trying to use as few notes as I can and making each of them count. Which actually isn't really isn't all that new, as I have always been a fan of David Gilmour. In the end, it's all about being authentic. Even if I'm writing music about an old German necrophiliac although I myself certainly have no penchant for such things - these are just part of the fiction, the shadowplays, neatly tucked into a more or less homogeneous product. Underneath it all, the music still tells of who I am, what I love, the music I grew up listening to and wish to share with the world. And it also bears the marks of my limitations, which are often more telling than anything else, and make the end product more original, even if that's not voluntary.

  44. Hi Steve. I am very glad that you liked it and that it gave you that small venue feeling. I appreciate the kind words and encouragement!!! Hi Andy. I do tend to overuse reverb but I am still trying to figure out how it got on this song. Next time I pull up the file for this song I'll give the vocal and lead guitar a tweak. Thanks very much for listening and also for taking the time to comment. Hi Wookiee. Every once in a while the Blues and Bluesabilly overtakes me and I have to go "back in the alley" and get it out of myself. After all, it was my first love (musically that is). Thanks, as always, for taking the time to listen and comment!!! BTW, I loved you most recent post --- brilliant!!

  45. HI:) I set up 3 Pads for 1,2 and 3dB and 1 Toggle Button for Plus or Minus: Description down below the video. Description: (You can directly run the Gainscripts from the pads, I do use the pads with other software on focus too! So run the scripts from added translations) C4,Cs4 and D4 (Pads) On Focus "Cakewalk" Gain_1, Gain_2 or Gain_3 script is running. PlusMinus (Togglebutton) If the value of the button is 127, the variable %PlusMinus is Plus, if the value is 0 the variable is Minus Gain_1, Gain_2 and Gain_3 (3 Pads C4,Cs4 and D4) If %PlusMinus is Plus, Louder_1, Louder_2 or Louder_3 script is running. If %PlusMinus is Minus, Softer_1, Softer_2 or Softer_3 script is running. Louder_1, 2 and 3 There you have to change the coordinates: movemouse (($x) - 100),250 (This moves the mouse inside of the selection and down to the beginning of possible automation edit) click left (($x) - 100),250 DOWN (Clicks and holds the mouse button) movemouse ($x),187 (Moves the mouse up 1,2 or 3 dB) click left ($x),187 UP (Clicks 1 time so the automation edit is done) movemouse ($x),1640 (Moves the mouse back to the bottom of the clip, where it is best to make the selection) Softer_1, 2 and 3 (Same as Louder_1, 2 and 3 but - 1, 2 and 3 dB, if the PlusMinus Value is 0) So, Select a portion of audio and press the PlusMinus Button for Plus or don't press if you do not use Plus and press one of the pads. You can use the mouse helper with Ctrl+Menu+I in CoyoteMidi for the Mouse Coordinates. That's it Greetz;) Bassman.

  46. Wow - you seem to set yourself up for any possible language that may offend you so I'm not sure you'll believe anything you read about Cakewalk but I will try. I have been using Cakewalk since the time of it being a midi only platform back in the 90's. The transformation to Cakewalk By Bandlab has been amazing and I love it. I've read about other DAWs and realize two things. 1. All DAWs have flaws (wow I like that, lol). 2. They all record digital audio the same way. What you do with it is totally up to you. And btw, what kind of expectation do you have from a completely free DAW that has so much to offer? Yes all DAWs are different. I've recorded 15 tracks of audio simultaneously for 30 minutes with no issues. I use third party plugins as well as the included plugins and instruments. Basically your computer determines the complexity level of Cakewalk or any other DAW for that matter. Be sure to set up your settings correctly to ensure the best possible performance before judging it. This makes all the difference in the world. I hope this is some help to you and your experience with Cakewalk.

  47. Your issues are nothing to do with Cakewalk being free. It is a fully featured, constantly improving software programme previously retailing at around £400 which has excellent developer support including in this forum. People here will be only too pleased to help with any issues you have - just provide more detail. I've never experienced the problems you outline in years of using Sonar Home Studio and now CbB and I learned everything from scratch
