  1. Well...hopefully an update will address the issues...if he can fix the "Static" problem, it's DEFINITELY worth the 1 Euro Price tag...

  2. For 32bit software usually the requirement for admin access is because the software tries to write data to protected areas of the registry and/or file system (program files and the Windows directory). Sometimes it's possible to set access rights on registry keys to allow the 32bit software to function. It's not so much a problem with it being 32bit, but rather being 32bit and designed for Windows XP and earlier. You can have a well behaved 32bit plugin. Synthedit however may not be one of those. One thing that might help is to install the plugin somewhere other than Program Files, a writable directory all by itself. JBridge doesn't always require you run as admin any more (at least it hasn't for me), but it does have issues with this pre-Windows 8 security design flaws. Depends on the plugin. As far as admin mode. One of the biggest problems is that network shares mounted under the user account aren't actually visible in admin mode. So if you use a local network drive (I have a large, very fast NAS) running as admin those drives aren't available. There are ways to work around this (remount the drives as admin, there are some Windows config tricks too) but I don't really enjoy dealing with that one. Since I store a lot of my not often used ACID Loop library on the NAS, running my DAW as admin makes all that a huge mess. Other problems involve software authorization issues. Technically the Admin account isn't the user account. So config files and registry settings aren't always the same. Most software products aren't really designed to run well in a multi-user environment. All kinds of strange missing presets/settings problems can show up. You may be able to use Genesis Pro but some other plugin you use may not work right anymore at all. This extends to problems with accessing things created by the admin account. You end up files and directories that can't be deleted/renamed/moved without having to take extra steps. And of course running your DAW as admin opens a huge security surface to scripts and plugins that aren't designed to be "safe". The script languages available inside many plugins are crazy powerful and could easily be misused. And no anti-virus product on earth will catch a Kontakt instrument that also steals all your browser cookies and serial numbers for music software. They just aren't looking out for that. Running a DAW as admin opens surface. It's just not very safe. Certainly not just for one 32bit synth.

  6. I don't think COVID 19 is media hype. Governments have consulted the experts and they know what can happen here. Basically, many get sick, hospitals can't cope and then massive deaths follow. That's aside to all the destruction caused in social and economic systems. The scale can be mediated with action but it's more about slowing it down to make sure the health system can cope over time rather than allowing it to peak. If it peaks then the fatality rate from the virus itself can double or triple and also, deaths from all other illnesses can double or triple. If you have a heart attack or stroke or sudden life threatening problem, even a car accident when it peaks, no ambulance will be coming for you. Even if you can get to a hospital, there will be 10 to 15 thousand patients outside on the ground or in makeshift stretchers in car parks and you will not be seen so you will just die. Viruses are about over population. They are natures way of trimming down species specific over populations and have been doing that job for billions of years. The severity and frequency of human specific viruses will increase over time in line with our population.

  8. Story about a guy returning to his home after too many years in the cold world. It's been done before. It's kind of old school country with that unashamedly sentimental vibe to it. Fantastic vocal by Doug Kirby! Many thanks Doug. I tried hard for a realistic fiddle sound and I mostly like the result. There are a LOT of articulation controls in Bolder Sounds Fiddle but I only used 3 or 4 of them. 9. Real nice delay!! I had to take a look at the GUI to remember, yes this is a really great guitar echo. I love playing around with it. Every time I go to use it I have to remind myself that I'm going for something.... not just playing around. But every time I use it I end up fooling with this or that and getting lost in it and loosing track of time!! More than worth the $19.

  11. That's interesting Matthew; please note anyone else who owns ST4 MAX and downloaded CS content early like me (around 3 pm UK time yesterday).... When I looked in my account yesterday on first release of CS there was only a new version of ST4 MAX 4.1.0 with the new ST4 CS sound content listed under it so those two items were all that I downloaded. They installed and have been working fine (see my original post here). I went through every new instrument and checked that they worked and I didn't need to re-authorise anything, they just worked. The only thing I am missing is a separate CS executable but since I can access all of the new content in ST4 MAX why would i need it? Today, when I look in my account there are 2 new items that weren't there yesterday with their own serial numbers...SampleTank 4 CS and SampleTank Editor BETA. SampleTank 4 CS is the same executable as I already downloaded under the ST4 MAX link (many IK products seem to work this way) so I don't need to re-download that but I HAVE now authorised the CS serial in Auth Manager as well as the Editor BETA serial just to be on the safe side. Sampletank Editor BETA is a different product and is currently version 4.0.0 so needs separate download/installation. So, if like me you own MAX and downloaded any of this early on check your accounts again today!

  14. Well... had I read the Read Me the first time I would have seen this - The Installer will automatically install the plugin into this folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg Please make sure your DAW scan for plugins includes these folders. Otherwise it may not find the plugin. Or if you wish to have it installed in a different folder, you can do so after the install. Simply copy/paste the files in the directory you want. - It is important to run your DAW as Administrator (right-click on DAW, choose Run as Administrator) , otherwise the plugin will not load. It may display "connection error" or "Connection was lost to the plugin". - If you use any of these DAWs (64-bit): FL STUDIO / CAKEWALK / BITWIG / REAPER / SONICSTUDIO / SOUNDBRIDGE or any other that has Native Bridging, please install and use the 32-bit version of the Genesis Pro. These 64-bit DAWs have native bridging, meaning they bridge any 32-bit plugin to 64-bit without any issues. - If you use any of these DAWs (64-bit): ABLETON / CUBASE / REASON or any other DAW that has no native bridging, please install and use the 64-bit Jbridged version of the Genesis Pro ***Happy producing***

  17. If you're looking specifically for a versatile envelope-follower/modulatable filter, I know of nothing else that's in Volcano's league. Certainly not any freebies. Main downside to Volcano is it's rather complicated if you want to dive deep. Meldaproduction has a simple but pretty powerful one (MFilter), but I'd wait for it to go on sale for $27. You can demo it for free.

  18. Fair enough , however the question you specifically asked was: "Which of these soft guitars sounds more like a live instrument?" And the answer - IMHO - is none of them (inc #8). It's just my opinion, if you don't agree, that's fine - we can agree to disagree. Andy

  21. SO!!! I've come across an issue with the Korg Triton VST plugin's GUI not opening up when used inside Blue Cat's Patchwork (virtual patchbay). I've tried it in the "Pre", "Parallel Chain" and "Post" slots with no luck. The first patch in the VST will play but there's no way to change it since the GUI will no open. Has anyone else by chance come across this same problem?

  22. The track interleave needs to be mono when you do this. If it's set to stereo, yes, the dragged file will be louder. The Browser can do all kinds of cool stuff. There are several tips in The Huge Book of Cakewalk by BandLab Tips, as well as in my Sound on Sound column.

  23. I've run into this problem before and brought it up many times, IIRC it has to do with the interaction of CbB being inherently stereo so it treats mono as existing in both channels, then sums as it exports. I've found four solutions. 1. Don't use the export function. Instead, drag the file into the desired folder in the browser. 2. Drop the Gain by -3 dB before exporting. 3. Export the mono file as stereo (although of course then you end up with a stereo file) 4. Export as Split Mono. This creates two mono files, just delete one of them.

  24. @Peter - IK Multimedia In every case I remember, when I try to upgrade an IK Multimedia product it comes with a download of the "Installation/Authorization Manual," which says nothing about upgrades. It tells you what you need to do for an original install. So basically I am on my own with upgrades. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Very few people would have a problem if IK would supply a very detailed step-by-step "Readme file that is tailored to the specific upgrade. Maybe you could name this file--"Read before installing." Or even better, as many companies do, create an installation video. Please recommend this. If IK provided a readme file or a link to a video, I doubt many people would have issues. This would cut down the work for the customer service staff and would generate a lot of customer goodwill. In my case, I followed exactly the way I installed all the other instruments in SampleTank MAX. Then I rescanned the directory. The new instruments (easy to see in the new folder) didn't appear. So I tried an install into a different directory. Now I have two installs in different folders that both don't work. I think if I manually moved all the instruments and samples one by one into the correct folders, it might work, but it's frankly not worth it to me. I'm just going to delete them all and hope that everything will still work without them. I do have 4.1 installed now, but clicking the shopping cart sends me to the web page, not to any Custom Shop. The old Custom Shop application includes SampleTank, just not the new instruments.

  29. Tom Living quite a lot of the year in South Africa, I find it hard not to view all Politicians in the same light - thieving corrupt and incompetent!! However in Barbados after about ten years of thieving corrupt and incompetent Politicians, we have a new Prime Minister (same as President sort of) and she has made a massive difference - almost restored my faith in Politicians....well not fully but getting there. I'm not really up on US Politics - have to say the last election was a surprise...think i'll leave it at that😎 Regards the song, love the guitar - think it would great with a bit of vox organ on the chorus Cheers Nigel

  32. Lynn Love the sound of your songs - all the components that go into them add up nicely. I'm totally impressed with the sax played by your guitar! Seems like the voc was too low in the mix here so didn't get the full effect of the vocoder fx. Thumbs up on the song. Enjoyed it!

  33. Yes, of course we have free will. But more accurately, we actually have limited free will. Within certain laws and constraints I can make decisions and choices and carry out those decisions and choices in action. There is no predetermined destiny, your destiny is in your own hands, you make or destroy your life through your choices, decisions and values. But many think they are using their "free will", when actually they are not. In many people free will is more potential than actualized. For example, a person addicted to cigarettes might believe he or she is "choosing" to reach for a cigarette. But this so-called choice is so strongly influenced by habit, the addictive properties of nicotine, anxiety and other emotions, often unconscious, so that what we might think is free will is actually compulsion, a kind of inner psychological slavery. In order to really exercise free will one also needs "free won't"--in other words discipline, self-restraint and self-control. To develop real will takes a lot of work on the the self. It take takes emotional clarity, ever-increasing sincerity with one's self, good habits, including diet, exercise and mental habits. It also takes integrity, choosing not to violate your deepest values and working to overcome the all-too-human propensities toward secrecy, hypocrisy and insincerity. Then the possibility of real will becomes available. There is no teacher like your own life experience. If you really humble yourself and devote yourself to learning truth through your own experience, you will discover more of what is called free-will, and it may produce subtle, positive changes in your personality. In other words you become a better version of who you are as a unique person. Jerry
