  1. Currently checking SeaCow's free IRs. https://seacowcabs.wordpress.com/ Gotta say, I'm impressed at their quality.

  2. Ozone , is more like a fixing tools for me , it really lacks style , but it's not what it's here for ... if you reach the mastering stage happy with what you giot , ozone is the thing .... just enhance stuff smoothly when need , reduce dinamic and gain loudness if neeeded .... Shadow and iron are more like "vernis / patine" to make the whole mix sounds cohesiv and dance the same dance

  3. Given they already have the MIDAS 32, Behringer X32 and Wing mixers; the Windows/Linux/Mac/Android software to interface with it; most mixers are software based anyway; these mixers have a bunch of built in effects; it doesn't seem like it would take much to transfer all that into a total software product at very little cost.

  5. Tarilonte's Epic ERA Persia is the one that includes Desert Winds, and it costs $159 to upgrade. And I've never seen them discount upgrades. But Epic ERA Persia ($259) goes on sale every Black Friday for 40% off, which is $155. Something to think about. With the full library you get a whole set of great middle eastern percussion instruments, plus strings like Oud, Tar, etc. It's my favorite Tarilonte library, although Nada is starting to give it a run for its money.

  6. Behringer gets a lot of flack for their past business practices (much of which is deserved). In the past decade, Behringer has absorbed some good companies, technology, and personnel (TC Electronic, Klark Teknic, Midas, etc). These days, Behringer is releasing original designs like the X32 series, Wing, etc... that are feature-packed decent quality pieces of gear. The Klark Teknic 1176 and LA-2A clones are both excellent (especially given the low cost). If you play live, the X32 series is used by many commercial sound companies. Was at a venue this past Friday night... and the FOH console was an X32. There's a trend recently to develop your own DAW application (UA, Behringer, Presonus, etc). Unless you're 101% committed, it's re-inventing the wheel. It's like trying to compete with Kontakt. It can be done, but it's a herculean task. Even if successful, it'll take years to catch-up to the competition. Behringer has the resources to develop a new DAW application, but is that the best use of their time/resources? They're admitting up front, that it's going to take a long while (18-months) for initial release. How long before it's able to compete head-to-head with the best DAW applications? From watching other DAW applications over the past 30 years, you're talking 4-5 years of sustained/committed development.

  10. Well another DAW? Perhaps Behringer may be looking to imitate the Presonus model. Presous has developed a HW/SW ecosystem where you live pretty comfortable whether you are doing touring doing PA work, studio recording, or just getting started. With most HW, Presonus gives you a free copy of Studio One (DAW) so they can start you (and hopefully) keep you within their ecosystem. You also don't have to depend on an emulation like Mackie/HUI to "almost" talk to everything. Behringer has developed a pretty extensive product line as well and it "sort of works" with most DAWs but they don't have as tight integration with any particular DAW (as Presonus does with Studio One). Since Behringer also owns Midas, with all of that HW, they may be wanting to create a better HW/SW solution - and a homegrown DAW may be part of that solution. Not aware of any "Pro" DAWs that are "free" since there is a lot of cost involving development/maintenance/support/updates so it will be interesting to see where it goes....maybe a limited light version with a "upgrade path" sort of like Presonus (or Pro Tools for that matter). Might be fun to start a pool to see what it will be called - ULIDAW, EURODAW, TRIBEDAW, LOOKLIKEANOTHERDAW .... ...just another $.02....

  11. It’s now official. We will be creating our own Music Tribe DAW. This is a massive undertaking, which will take at least 18 months and for that purpose we have now assembled a large development team. Our Music Tribe DAW will also include samples and VST’s plus connections to third party VST’s. Our goal is to include the very best features available, including multiple user interfaces for both recording and DJ. We would love to develop this together with you and hence encourage you to share your preferred platforms and features so we can consider your input. Our opportunity is that we have no legacy platform to maintain, which will allow us to think “blue sky” and combine the “best of all worlds”. Best of all, the DAW will be FREE of charge! Our goal is to empower all musicians to record, mix, edit and publish their music. As always thank you so much for all your support and loyalty.

  12. To my knowledge, the Kong Audio one is the only dedicated virtual instrument. It is in a few group libraries though. EthnoWorld 6 has Morin Khuur Ensemble, Morin KhuurViolin and Small Morin Khuur. There's also a Mongolian Ih Khuur Bass. The first two are Vol 4, the last is Vol 2. EW instruments tend to get better as the series goes on. The Mongolian State Morin Khuur Ensemble was recorded with multiple articulations in Sonuscore's "Strings of Winter," which is included in "The Orchestra Complete." I think it sounds beautiful. Strezov Sampling's "Jade Ethnic Orchestra" is due out soon and I am pretty sure it will include it, because it's going to be huge. On the other hand, if it's like Balkan Ethnic Orchestra, I doubt there will be many articulations. Just the basic sounds, albeit sampled beautifully. On the future front: I am dreaming that Komplete 13 Ultimate will have a Discovery library that is Asian themed. But it might be just China or Japan. If it does happen, it will be out this summer, which is not so far away. The Middle East Library came out the summer before Komplete 12. I'm still waiting for Tarilonte to make a Silk Road ERA. It's time. That would be the one to get. Nada has "asian instruments," but they are not intended as such. The sounds are just used as the basis for New Age Instruments.

  16. I must start of by saying this may or may not be true butt Hellman's mayonnaise used to be made in England. Back in 1912 the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars for delivery in Mexico. Vera Cruise I believe. Mexico's largest import of mayonnaise ever. The Titanic hit an iceberg in the north Atlantic and sank with all that mayonnaise. It was so devastating to Mexico the date was declared a holiday and day of mourning which occurs annually on 5 may and is known as Sinko De Mayo

  17. The interesting thing to me about DAWS is that most of them are still around after 30 years with more recent ones (Bitwig) coming along later. I guess the incentive is there. Smaller companies like Mixcraft are still around and updating. If they weren't making money I don't think that would happen.Cakewalk came close to being a name in Wikipedia with only a historical meaning. Many of the Asian countries economies are more stable than ever meaning you probably have millions of future potential customers. No one DAW seems to dominate, they all have a place. Behringer gear wouldn't be my first choice right now in the home studio market. I think one of their interfaces still uses ASIO for all. They have taken the PA house gear by storm. I use an X32 elsewhere and it works very well. If their emergence into the house and concert systems market is any indication, the home studio market competition has good reason to be concerned. For instance if they come out with an interface at half the price of Presonus with the same latency numbers and a free included DAW................ you don't have to think much about that one.

  18. Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen to "eye contact" and leave a comment: thegaltieribrothers: Paul, thank you for listening and commenting. I appreciate the positive comments on my guitar playing. I really enjoyed your tune "fallen star". Wookie: Thanks very much for the listen and comment. I liked your "The Cosmic Brain Part 1" and am looking forward to its completion. DeeringAmps: I thank you for the listen and your tres cool comments. Much appreciated! mark skinner: Hi Mark, thanks for the listen and suggestions. At the 2:06 mark a piano doubles the trumpet line an octave higher. That could be the problem you refer to. I'll have to revisit that section. Thanks for the help. I was blown away by your cover of "Take Me Down South". emeraldsoul: Hi Tom, thanks very much for the rhythm guitar and reverb suggestions. I appreciate the help! I also appreciate the positive comments about the guitar and tune as well, thank you. freddy j: Freddy! Thank you for listening and leaving such positive comments. Great job on "Blackhole Personality" by the way. Thanks again. dcumpian: Hi Dan, I appreciate the listen and your taking the time to leave a comment. Glad you liked the tune, thank you!

  19. Pianos are very very subjective, but I ran with ivory II as my main piano for a few years. It lacks a depth to the samples, and doesn't play super well from a touch standpoint. For 249? Pearl or Noire would be considerably better imho but that's on the yamaha side.

  21. Negative measure numbers. When you are entering from sheet music, and need at least 1 measure for sysex and the like, and would like your entry to have the same measure numbers as the sheet music. It's a pain always having to add 2 or subtract 2.

  27. To me rectifying diodes and corresponding capacitors are no mystery. Only one thing that really bugs me about labels - shouldn't microfarads be labeled with u, e.g., 1uF, 2uF, etc.? 1mF is perceived as 1 millifarad. Other than that, this compressor is the best I've heard in PA range. During the last sale I was on the fence of buying Elysia Alpha Comp, but came across this video and changed my mind.

  34. I sure hope 5-pin DINs and UARTs don't ever go away. They are superior to USB in almost every regard. As to whether hardware always beats software, that's another can o' worms. Digital hardware synths will usually have design restrictions that a computer needn't be subject to, such as reduced storage space and slower CPUs. The supposed superiority of analog synths is a moot point - those pristine waveforms are going to end up as digital data eventually. I have found balance by using both hardware and software. I play a high-end digital synthesizer on stage, but in the studio it's solely a MIDI controller. I can get any kind of sound I want from it while playing/recording, thus avoiding the need to ever play a software synth in real time. Consequently, latency is never a concern despite keeping my buffers at their highest setting all the time.

  35. Very sorry to hear about the devastation in your country. Seems things are a bit crazy (weather-wise) around the world. Mama nature must be getting a bit ticked off at human kind. Now about the song. Excellent work! The mix is good but the composition and arrangement are most cool. The wandering repetitive piano centerpiece matched with the ominous deep string sounds definitely set the stage for an emotional response. This composition is just begging for a video to go along with it. Enjoyed it enough that I had to give it a second listen.

  38. Use the method i described above and zoom in as close as possible and remove the clip and replace it with a similar note in or around the area. When you have digital clips that are small defined pieces, you brain can barely process the clip spot, just the distortion or "Crack" sound. This is why i say, you can almost replace it with any noise from around the surrounding clip space (unless its a vocal, then you can but it is trickey). If you have digital clipping through out the whole track, its time to re-record the track. no ifs and or buts about it.
