  11. As far as True Peak reading yes use the You Lean meter if you want a more accurate reading. If you read the info on the web site it explains why it is more accurate. I believe the term is sample accurate. I actually have ran tests and funny enough I’m just reviewing and testing Sonars Concrete Limiter. To test take a Brick wall limiter and set it at -1.0 db. Feed the track or bus a signal that goes over -1.0 db . Now put a bunch of analyzer plug ins after the limiter including the You Lean meter. Observe that all the other analyzers are reading exactly -1.0 db as well as the Cakewalk meter. But the You Lean might show-0.9 db or even as low as -0.6 db if the limiter is garbage. Cakewalk/Sonar meters are actually as accurate as all those other Analyzers. Just not sensitive as the You Lean. It is actually one of the features we overlook. You’d be surprised that the majority of DAWS don’t have very good meters.

  12. With SSD drives it’s not the fact that it is full that matters. It’s how many times it’s been written to. They work very differently than spinning disks. I had a SSD drive slow way down on me and it was only 1/4 full. I tested it with the Samsung Magician and that revealed what was wrong. So plug ins them selves won’t cause an issue, most are very small files. but sample libraries don’t belong on a C drive. The drive that was acting up wa my Working Data drive for Cakewalk projects as well as Video editing and storage. That’s what killed it. As you are working the data is constantly being re written and updated. So my plan is to replace these drives once a year. The old drives become back up storage safe copies.

  17. It depends. I do like using expose as a first look at something because it gives a quick read on things on my desktop and I use ozone for more complex info within cakewalk. Yeah the proprietary installers are unwelcome.

  20. It's always tough to give feedback of that sort - the song is obviously good and you don't want to be a downer to somebody who works so hard. Your response is exactly the intended response (about future songs) - I do the same thing - it's good to get the suggestions that you can take forward with you, especially if like me you are working in sort of a vacuum now all alone in the studio! And if I tried to sing in the morning, I'd end up sounding like a pissed off turkey squawking at cars going by - in order to get anywhere close to being able to hit any notes, I need to be up for a few hours at least!

  23. I installed the trial and did a quick test using a project I developed to measure PDC. The test is sample-accurate and measured 9,984 samples (208 milliseconds at 48kHz) of delay. I didn't see any option to lower it by reducing the quality/precision of the processing, and no mention in the documentation of a delay. For good measure, I tried playing my RD-700NX through an input-monitored track with PDC Bypass disabled and the delay was horrendous and unplayable as expected. Notwithstanding that the web page claims "Real-time Processing", this plugin is only suited for post-processing of previously recorded audio at the mixing stage.

  32. Sorry I'm so late on responding .. @garybrun , @daryl1968 , @KSband , different indeed I feel the same.. @Old Joad , @Kevin Walsh , Yes the blend of East and West is as close as I can come. I really wish I could get a bettter grasp on Indian and Arabic music. @subvibe , I take that as a Nice compliment as you have been there and know the vibe better than someone just watching a video. I've always been envious of you world travels. Maybe I should do some research on the Cuban vibe ?? You did a Great job of explaining ! and I get it. There are a few phrases in the song that sound a little too emotional. I totally agree. I will take your comment to heart in future songs. To be honest .. I think it was just my "weak voice" singing at 5am that was misconstrued as emotion. Working long hours and totally burned out afterwards, I got into the habit of doing daw work early in the mornings before work. Retired for 10 years , but still on the same schedule. I really need to do vocals later in the day. "Thanks" to all of of you that have listened and responded to this pretty much "out of the norm" and strange song .. mark

  34. Polaris has both sample and synth engines and offers a groovebox-style workflow across six tracks. The 4x4 grid on each track enables you to input steps into the sequencer, and step modulation gives you an easy way of adding variation to your patterns. You can also adjust the step duration on a per-track basis (from 1/32 to one bar) and set the triggering conditions so that each step doesn’t sound every time. https://www.musicradar.com/news/polaris-android-music-making-app

  37. My friend and I got to see them play in a small bar in California once. We ended up sharing a table right in front of the band with this little older lady who was dancing and singing along to every song! During the break, the lead guitarist came over and introduced us to her: His Mom! She had never missed a gig. Very cool story. 😊

  39. I'm a guitar player who loves Dave Gilmour and Mark Knopfler, and my guilty pleasure is 80s hair metal so I know a lot of solos - and this unlikely monster is my favorite. Chances are you've heard this song but NOT the solo, as they chopped off the like 80% or so on the radio version. In the video go to 2 minutes and 38 seconds and be amazed by the ferocity and accuracy of this dude's bending and his right hand technique. He was machine on this thing - and it's a long solo!

  40. I can not believe it took me this long to remember this song: Let It Rain, by Clapton. The opening riff alone is one of the greatest in rock. But at the 3:48 mark that lick Eric throws out there is the best rock lead ever... bar none!! There is so much feel in that solo. That is the greatest solo in rock history.
