  5. I'm very fond of Hybrid 3. For arpeggiator-driven 90's ambient kinds of stuff, it's my most inspiring synth, and I have MASSIVE and Chromaphone 3. Hybrid 3 has the best arp sounds. It has 2 arpeggiators that can be used simultaneously. Well worth $10, IMO. Xpand! 2 is also my favorite general purpose ROMpler. Vacuum Pro is another favorite. The only drawbacks I've ever experienced with AIR's synths is the lack of a way to mark "favorite" in the patch browser, but I can use the DAW's native preset system to get around that. As far as technical issues, I've never experienced any problems with AIR synths, not a single one. They are light on resource use compared to other synths out there.

  7. I have never found any tutorials specific for CALS and Studioware Panels All the ones I have written have been trial and error. For CAL scripts, there is a PDF document detailing each command. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=10371 Be careful with some commands. Some will categorically crash CbB. I know editSlide does. Save often. Also, some commands work differently in CbB than with old versions. Also, your CbB project clock needs to be set to 960 ppqn for any CALs that utilise time values to work correctly - ppqn can change if you import older MIDI files. For Studioware Panels.....? You’re pretty much on your own.

  8. Take that as a compliment, Larry. People care about you to the point they worry when several hours go by without a post. I just figured there weren't any worthy deals to post, but once the thought was out there, questioning if something could be wrong, I did want confirmation you were okay. Hopefully, we'll hear from Abacab at some point. It's been a while and now I'm concerned. It may just be that other priorities got in the way of our little shared love of plugins and libraries, but it'd be really nice to just know he's doing fine. It's funny, just from these little interactions, you can truly care about people you've never met IRL and I think that's one of the special aspects of this little group you don't find in every similar online community.

  10. I’ve lost count of how many libraries are based only on Unify at this point (not requiring other products). There are a lot that you only need Unify. And they are all great.

  14. Well, comparison between DAWs can be boring or confusing. Presonus came centuries after sonar with a DAW called Studio one and it was horrible for years. But they where very aggressive marketing that Software. I have tried it several times and can tell you guys that it was unstable and had a lot of bugs. Now, after many years of development it is a decent piece of software that has a few great features but in other fields still don't has the functionality of Cubase or Cakewalk. Try to find dimmed solo, compare Cakewalks recording features with studio one's but don't be surprised or disappointed to miss push in/ out or other things. Also the features are hidden in studio one so you have to search and search... it is a pain in the ***** imo. Studio one don't has lenses, workspaces and many other features that I'm happy to have in Cakewalk since many years or decades. Compare the abilities to render out and the abilities to export! Studio one is far behind in many ways when it comes to workflow and customisation. Don't get fooled by their advertisement and their big mouth 🤣 Sure S1 is getting better and is a decent DAW but still not in a league with the big players, though they think they are. In addition they are getting the exact same problems all the older DAWs suffer from. Old code, stability and compatibility with the older versions. They now learn that. 😜😂

  17. Also, you can use the BandLab app on your iPad and record or edit a project. Then you can continue the same project in Cakewalk Next or even CbB and continue from there. Next will additionally allow you to open the project with all the BandLab effects intact, since it supports BL plugins natively. I.e you can freely transition back and forth between mobile and desktop platforms during the music production process.

  18. Unify comes with a standard library of 647 patches. You do not need anything additional to use these patches. And if you do happen to own plugins like Spire or Phaseplant or Pigments, the factory library patches for these plugins can be added to Unify for free. Yes there are libraries created for Unify that require you to own Omnisphere for example, but as lawajava has stated, there are many Unify libraries that don't require any additional plugins. So I am not sure what the issue is.

  21. Well, to be fair, I really use a Studioware panel with two knobs, each with a CAL script attached. One for note time position, the other for velocity. The more I turn the respective knob clock-wise, the more the selected notes parameter can randomly deviate from its original value. That way I can dial in a subtle change, or a broad change in timing or velocity. Studioware Panels and CAL scripts are quite powerful. I only wish the Bakers would bring back the creation of them directly from within CbB. You can load them, but not create them in CbB.

  22. I have started "collecting" audio interfaces on e-bay. I mean for someone with Realtek and SB5.1 it is questionable to spend even 100€ for some "device" with unknown outcome (not even 5.1 capable!). It happened M-Audio FireWire Audiophile was around for cheap, and it is still on my desk as "default" interface (after several seconds with Shure headphones, I have recognized that Music Audio Interfaces are not the same as platinum USB cables... each computer upgrade I check if Realtek can do the trick as "default"... but no, at least not yet... lol). Later I took Phonic Firefly. I had to pay more for it, but will way less then for new with 8 channels, able to work standalone and without ground loop issues. There will be someone who wants "professional" FireWire device relatively cheap, as long as: * it works under Window 10/11 (without driver installation tricks) * there are PCIe FireWire cards I mean if FA-101 can be used under Windows 10, it is better mention that when selling on e-bay (or alike platform). And if you have PCIe FireWire which works good (so TI based) and you don't need, it may be worse to include it.

  23. This week I loaded up the latest update - wasn't really straight forward and took a while, but now, for the first time in a very long time, it seems to work properly! Will be giving it a bit of a work out over the next few weeks - it would be great if it really does work properly now Nigel

  24. If I were to name a single issue that I personally have with Cakewalk, it is stability with ASIO drivers under heavy loads. Before someone suggests a "solution"... I have tried probably over 100 tweaks tunning PC + various Cakewalk settings like general and "extra" buffers, processor scheduling, load balancing, etc. Obviously freezing tracks and disabling FX "fixes" issues, but that is not a preferred workflow. So again, please, I am not looking for tips for optimizing my PC My request is for Cakewalk / future Sonar to optimize audio engine to handle heavily VST infested project mixing. Similar to Cubase "ASIO Guard"... or make it even better, so there is more cushion before "Stopped Audio Engine" occurs. I am only talking about mixing, not "live" recording.

  29. It costs nothing up front to join, so it's well worth doing so. If you don't join before the initial end date, you miss out. But be warned... The savings are so great you will want to buy a lot 😉 And unlike other companies who do group buys (not naming any names) you won't see a significantly better deal a month later causing you to question your life choices, and you won't find everything obsolete in short order and be hounded for upgrades and nickel and dime add-ons every time you use the instruments. But not naming any names, If you Know what i Mean.

  34. No, no Cakewalk products can be installed to iPad. Going forward, Cakewalk Sonar is a Windows-only application, like Cakewalk by Bandlab currently is, and SONAR Platinum was before it. Cakewalk Next will be Windows and Mac. What you're probably seeing is people saying the Bandlab editor app is for iOS, browser based, etc. - this is unrelated to these Cakewalk products, although it's owned by the same company, Bandlab.

  36. Thank you all for your input, this helped me tremendously. Except I just do not know where things started to work correctly. I removed the Realtek driver, and I think that did the trick. I've tested all 32 channels pumping out through the USB port, and everthing is fine. I think I just would not recognize that I had to remove the Realtek driver and play everything throught my X32, which will severly limit my ability to listen to stuff when I am disconnected from the X32. Any suggestions on how to enable the Realtek for audio when I'm not connected to the X32? Again, thank you to all for your help on this.

  37. Here's the thread @JohnnyV mentioned. Like you I'm a long time user (I remember Greg Hendershott! and the DOS version) and Cakewalk had a conflict with a Realtek soundcard. Fixes I've used in prior versions of windows were not working. It just occurred to me that I've also recently upgraded to the latest version of CW. I had to disable the Realtek device before I could get Cakewalk to recognize my Presonus interface. Watch the video that @JohnnyV posted. The part around the 4:00 minute mark was particularly helpful and was key to fixing the conflict. I had to disabled the Realtek device shown in the video. When I restarted CW it couldn't see the Realtek device anymore. Then I was able to set properties in Cakewalk to use my Studio 2/6 interface.

  39. In ways I see where you're going with that, but the fundamental point of difference that actually is very similar in my opinion, is the developer still doesn't get something that they never had anyway. So whether the pirate makes money or not, it's somewhat moot as the developer hasn't experienced a loss in the same way they would if the pirate stole money or physical assets from developer. To put it another way, it doesn't cost the developer in a direct sense. I don't advocate piracy (although if a developer removed the ability to activate software someone had paid for, then fair game) and like I mentioned, I don't use pirated software personally, but speaking more philosophically, while both might be illegal and called theft, I don't see them to be equal when it comes to software as I do for physical things. When someone steals a physical object like the car which someone used in an earlier example the company no longer has the car and needs to spend money to replace it. When someone pirates software, or a library however, the company still has their copy to keep selling to whoever is wanting to buy it at that time and all they really lost was a theoretical copy and theoretical sale/royalty that they never really had.

  44. These plugins are fully supported on Windows. https://support.airmusictech.com/en/support/solutions/articles/69000801954-air-music-tech-windows-11-compatibility For macOS, these plugins were updated for Big Sur (but with Rosetta, not Native): https://support.airmusictech.com/en/support/solutions/articles/69000801956-air-music-tech-macos-11-big-sur-compatibility They’re still supporting these, but just doing compatibility fixes, no new features. For mature plugins, that’s pretty good. If you are on macOS, expect these will never be Apple Silicon Native (they have new SKUs that replace the functionality of these). Otherwise, these are very good for the price.
