  1. Same and I will share the reason why. On 9/11, I was a strategy director for one of the companies with the highest number of employee deaths in the World Trade Center. I was alone in a room with our CEO just days after that day with a very long silence and he shared how Michael Dell had called him and offered to add another shift and stop all normal production and focus it exclusively on making laptops for our surviving WTC employees. Michael never tried to get publicity for doing that. Having advised, worked with and on partnerships and execs with some very well known brands (Apple, Google, Nike, etc), Michael Dell's going out of his way just out of decency is something I will always remember. Plus I don't have an NDA on that one and I don't think Michael would mind that story getting out. And that's the end of positive stories about billionaires from me! Hahaha.

  6. Omnisphere Software 2.8.5c (Version History) Includes the following features and fixes: Updates AAX plugin for native Apple Silicon compatibility. Adds "Any" MIDI channel routing option to the MIDI Channel menus on the MIXER page. When "Any" is selected, MIDI Channels 1-16 are sent to the Part (aka MIDI "Omni Mode"). Fixes issue where the plugin output could become muted after loading multiple DAW projects in a row. This fix was added specifically for Cantabile (a Windows-only Host), but the error is likely reproducible in other Hosts. Fixes note playback timing issues when Solo mode or the Arpeggiator were enabled and the host buffer size was large. Fixes issue where the "Modulate with Orb" option in the right-click contextual menu did not work. Fixes issue where the Patch dirty indicator (asterisk) could incorrectly disappear after using the UNDO command. Seismic Pump effect: Improves TRIGGER button behavior when MODE = "Triv. Inv" and LOOP is Off. Seismic Pump effect: Fixes issue with "Triv. Inv" mode where the envelopes were retriggered by incoming MIDI note events. Mac only: Fixes issue on macOS where folders/files in STEAM could not contain a backslash character Standalone app: Fixes issue where the Flow Capture feature did not record Metronome Tempo changes into the MIDI file correctly.

  7. I know this has been requested before, but I think it was in the UI Themes section of the Forum and I think the Feedback Loop section might be a better place to ask. Please separate more colors for theming, far too many colors affect other areas making it difficult when using lighter or darker backgrounds for different areas, for example, Console View: Control Text and Values sets the color for not just the Pan and Gain Values, it also affects the console view button text which makes it difficult, if not impossible to use lighter buttons and a darker strip or vice versa, it also affects the 'Inspector', 'Multidock' and 'Browser' Text in track view. A single color for each single area would be far more desirable and would allow many more options for theme creation, I find the current way very limiting and often find many of my theme ideas thwarted by incompatibility due to one color affecting more than one area, more separation would open up so many more possibilities, Please do this! ❤️

  8. Once again —- Render all Melodyne active clips before you close a project unless you desire a corrupted project down the road. You can easily re apply the regional effect a second and third or fourth time. There is no benefit in leaving Melodyne active in a project. It’s almost like not saving before you shut down.

  9. I agree! @Muzician Here are some quick links you might want to have bookmarked (browser, desktop, etc.). Both "Snap" and "Snap to Grid" are in the index. While the "Online Documentation" has a search feature, I have found that many times the Table of Contents and the Index are more efficient for me when used with my browser's Find feature [Ctrl + F].

  10. Lowering the price of licenses for 3rd party developers should be their first step, so that the AcousticSamples guy could bring us out a better than just 30% sale on his brilliant Vpianos and we both get happy by owning them 👍🤤🍺

  11. My DAW has been on Win 11 more or less since it came out. I have not had any issues with it. My utility PC is still on Win 10 as the hardware is incompatible with 11, now I have got used to the changes I think I now prefer 11 but its marginal.

  18. This developer has been having a sale -- of 65-80% -- most of the last few months. Is he trying to tie Waves always on sales?

  19. Ha! And you give him credit for that when we all know he subliminaly implanted that idea in the developer's mind? 🤔

  26. In late December 2022 I had to do something I really hated doing but it had to be done. My best friend of 38 years who I loved deeply and whom I had known for 45 years needed a level of help and care that I could no longer provide. It may feel/sound a little like a dirge but it is short less than three minutes. I do appreciate you listening if you do. Toys used in it making Sad Days. 27. I heartily endorse this. Doubt it will ever happen, but if it did, I'd be a happy .STH Lord indeed. In all the time I've been messing about with themes, the devs have not fulfilled any feature requests regarding TE. Not ruling it out. I think that people who make custom themes, especially those of us who put a LOT of time and effort into it, contribute a lot to the user community at large. I have no way of knowing how many people actually use my themes; I mostly approach it as I do with every creative endeavor. I make what I would like to see or hear, then throw it out there for whoever wishes to enjoy it. I can't even remember the last time I worked in Cakewalk using a stock theme. The button images are small and, IMO, sometimes ambiguous and inconsistent. The fact that Cakewalk has such extensive theme editing (I know of no other DAW except REAPER that even comes close) is something that has brought me a LOT of enjoyment. I consider it a creative pursuit in itself. Thanks to doing it, I've really leveled up my Paint.net skills. There's a sense of community to it with The Young Lady's Illustrated Primer and your own notes. I encourage anyone to swipe my art and ideas for their own themes (as I originally copped your console bypass button images and so many ideas from you and Colin). I'm really proud of the Transport and Tools Modules in Blue Flat Dark, Green Flat Dark, and Tungsten RST.

  28. chris.r, I think you're on to something about lowering licensing costs -- and also, that developer does seem to be very talented. He's definitely the one developer who makes libraries for UVI that I find most compelling. I had exchanged a number of PMs with him and, while I don't agree with his reasons for choosing UVI (largely because he's unhappy with NI's approach to anti-piracy measures), I do respect him, he seems like a very decent person and he's definitely very talented as a sample developer. Yeah, if he had a killer sale, it would be hard for me to resist. But I still am not crazy about the UVI user experience. While KONTAKT isn't perfect, I find it superior to UVI when it comes to user experience.

  39. I played a lot of hockey, including for my town and high school, and managed to keep my teeth. They are all originals! Got stitches a few times, separated my shoulder twice - that was fun - and ended my career courtesy of an epic ankle injury I sustained in the summer break on a trampoline. My skating never really recovered from that, and between my ruined ankle and all the damage I did to my knee joints over the years, I had to find a better way to channel my energy. These days, when the weather is cold and damp, I limp up and down the stairs like someone twice my age. I loved guys like Clarke, O'Reilly and Neely but I never wanted to play like them. Didn't like high traffic or the corners all that much, and I really didn't like getting hit. Nowadays I watch hockey obsessively, and wait for the Leafs to win something, anything, in the playoffs. Not a Devils fan? As for the big game: I'll be watching, and I suppose I'm rooting for KC -- although in truth I'd be happy if it was simply good, competitive game.

  40. People think one company is going to take over the other's coding and rarely does it improve. I have yet to be overwhelmed when Magix upgrades Vegas, Soundforge, or Acid. Gigastudio tech bought by Garritan never went anywhere. We know everything acquired by In Music rarely improves. See BFD 3. There's a new user at Ci Control who appears to be from UVI say not to worry.

  41. Cakewalk works and looks the same whether on a laptop or a desktop. Works the same regardless of Windows OS version. I have a laptop I used for on-site (live) recordings. I had an MOTU 8 channel (8 analog preamps) USB connected recording interface. Laptop worked great after "taming" (latency and dropouts). I have an old (2017) Dell "gaming" laptop. It has a 7th gen i5 CPU (Not officially Win 11 compatible). It came with a 130 watt power adapter rather than the puny 60 or 90 many come with. A gaming laptop was selected as it has better air flow and cooling. The cooling and higher power adapter are a plus when the laptop is powered on and used for long periods. I find recording a 4 hour gig requires the PC to be on nearly 6 hours. If I were to buy a new recording laptop today, same requirements for type and at least a current production i5 CPU and Windows 11.

  44. I wish I could have done that with my 2005 Odessey (found a spare in storage that still works). Last Month I needed new brakes, replacement of a door latch that was faulty and causing random signal that the door was open when it was not, replacement of drivers side seat belt receptacle that was saying seat belt was not connected when it was. And I added a rodent repeller (runs 24/7 but will never drain the battery uless the car sat undrivern for a few months or so). That was one pretty penny. Today I picked up the car for new tires, virtually overhauled suspension (the car was making metal on metal creaking sounds when driven) rack and pinion was starting to go, leaky oil pan. I have a philosophy about a fully paid for car. If the repairs in a year exceed what would be equivalent to a new car payment (of a like vehicle) then it's time to dump it and get a new car. I'm a about a grand away from that limit. I have 190k miles on the car and it's suggested to replace the timing belt at 200K. At my current rate of 'scheduled' driving I'll hit 200K in 27 months or so. Needless to say, those two expenses have put a serious dent in any major musical purchases for the next month or two.
