They are IMO, simply the best sounding there is, especially so the Flanger, but be aware that it can't be used live/in real time, the latency is to much. It's not a bug as such, I read the story with the man behind it, and he said he was aware, but was unwilling to change it as he didn't want to reduce the quality of the sound. So . . . What I do, is use another flanger during tracking, say the eventide Instant Flanger MK II, or any really, same settings etc just to get the feel, and then when the track is done replace it with the Softube Fix Flanger. *** NOT saying there is anything wrong with the Eventide, there isn't, it's excellent, but . . . *** Just my opinion, and method.7 points

Since I turned 40, I targeted the retirement audience in Florida. It's a big, reliable market, it pays well, and I can make as much in 2 or 3 days as I can with 6 in a club. The drawback is they are one-nighters, so it's gear schlepping every gig. From that day until COVID, I never went without work. In fact, I have to block out weeks for vacation, or I won't get one. Now that COVID is in the rearview mirror, we're gigging like crazy again. 15-18 gigs per month. I feel it is my responsibility not to damage the hearing of my audience. So we bring sound pressure meters to the gig, set them at "A" weighted and "Slow" response, as recommended, and make sure the volume at the first table in front of the band is no louder than 85db on the meter. That's the accepted safe listening level according to the experts. If they want me to crank it up, I will, but then it's their choice. If we have a dinner set before the dancing begins, I usually keep the volume to 65db or 75db, depending on the audience. The audience members are like extended family to us, and we don't want to hurt them. We are the pros, we should know, and so we act accordingly. Insights and insights by Notes ♫5 points

Hello everyone. Me and Anderson the drummer decided this time to do a cover of a song that is not very popular, but one of our favorites. This is the song ''Medusa'' originally by the british band Trapeze. Starts calm and then blasts one of my favorite guitar riffs of all time. Hope you enjoy and any constructive thoughts about the mix are welcome.3 points

Hi All, long time no see, long story don't ask ; ) Didn't think I would record again, but wanted to give it another try. This is a bit of guitar noodling I did to try out the new Cakewalk with the old plugins from X3 and the upload function to Bandlab. So this is just me having some fun. The Nomad BT plugins from Sonar still work fine here in Cakewalk.3 points

I have quite a bit of the Indiginus catalogue and they're excellent plug ins, both for sound quality and interface. However, I also have Bolder Bluegrass, Realibanjo and I also have an actual 5-string banjo which I profess to play (although I play the Irish tenor more often). So, do I need a $39 lump of software to create a better sound than I can achieve on the much-maligned instrument? So I've just installed it.2 points

Going back a few years, the deals were much better than they are now. There was a time when you could pick up many high-quality plugins for anywhere between $9 - $14.2 points

LOL, I got to use SpectraLayers Pro 8 like twice. I had another program that caused issues, so restored an image, loaded Pro 8, then the other software did it again. After restoring that same image, I got the "this upgrade has already been used" when trying to install Pro 8, so it shows in the installer as owning Pro 8, but it doesn't install, and doing that disabled Pro 7 (that particular point was the last straw). The hardware never changed so the re-activation site went no where. When I sent a detailed message to Steinberg, I never heard back from them. I just did another image restore and that brought Pro 7 back, but the lack of Steinberg support led me to obliterate all other Steinberg software on this machine. I am not going to pay a company that doesn't seem to care about their product; if they don't care, I shouldn't either.2 points

Less heretical than you might think. Check out this reddit thread from r/livesound. In a previous thread on that forum, I had complained specifically about excessive bass. Surprisingly, I got pushback from FoH guys. You'd think they'd be more protective of their own ears, given that loss of hearing would presumably be a career ender. Their answer: earplugs. Well, I've got some fancy "musicians'" earplugs, and everything sounds like cotton through them. Most concertgoers are probably stuffing their ears with those crappy orange foam things you buy at Home Depot for carpentry work. That's not the experience I'm willing to pay $100 or more for.2 points

One's I know work, because I've used them: Mackie MCU / Mackie MCU Pro ( and also XT / C4 ) - use the SONAR lexan overlay with the MCU / MCU Pro Korg nanoKONTROL 2 Korg nanoKONTROL Studio Presonus FaderPort 8 / FaderPort 16 One's I believe work, based on reports from others: Behringer X-Touch ( the large one ) + X-Touch Extender - as far as I can tell, these are direct clones of the Mackie MCU / XT. You'll need a custom overlay for them though, which are available through 3rd parties, or you can make one yourself. Older devices I know work, because I've used them: Behringer BCF2000 Yamaha 01X (either through mLAN if you can get the drivers working, or via the internal MIDI modification dongle) Any device that supports Mackie MCU mode, and has a specific SONAR / Cakewalk mode will work. Any device that supports Mackie MCU mode, and has a Cubase mode, will mostly work in CbB's "Cubase Emulation Mode" - by that I mean the faders, v-pots and transport / looping / marker buttons should work. Bear in mind these are all based on the Mackie MCU protocol, which is primarily concerned with transport / fader control. Although you can use them for controlling plugins, you can't use ACT learn. Instead you have to provide a v-pot/parameter mapping for each plugin in MackieControl.ini, when then becomes a static mapping for those parameters. My C4Mapper utility provides a drag/drop UI for editing the MackieControl.ini file. Although primarily designed for the C4, it'll work for the MCU if you restrict yourself to the top 8 v-pots.1 point

And, the final?, layout. I was over reaching for the Alesis. Now it’s a natural placement. In my vision of expanding my kit I overlooked a major issue that reared it’s head too. My 12 inch Tom 4 and my China placement extra cymbal had been plugged into the loom correct places. Tom 4 completely ceased sounding the head and as a result I bought a new skin and was about to replace cone… also that cymbal was a bit squirrelly. Both are now plugged directly into the TD50x and the issues are no more. Important lesson, don’t use the supplied sockets on loom from Roland!!. Sheez1 point

With the coding i meant the programmcode, not sound quality. Square1 is running stable on my PC despite 32 bit, Pentagon though is not. I think it has to do with it beeing a DXi plugin. The compatibility isn't that good with newer systems.1 point

I could only agree with you on this. In my case it’s just out of pure enthusiasm to explore different alternatives while helping a friend with her podcast and most of my work with WaveLab, SL, Acoustica and RX is linked to dialogue. I just find that on some occasions one post tool works a little bit better than the others. Acoustica is a pretty new to me (I got it and Acon Digital DeVerberate on sale). What I see is that Acoustica’s Extract:Dialogue makes good denoise with less artifacts compared to RX Dialogue Isolate. On the other hand I wasn’t that impressed by the DeBird results, but at the absence of alternatives it’s better than nothing Music is only a hobby and I’m mainly using Cubase and Studio One + Fabfilter plugins for the mixing part and WaveLab + Fabfilter for mastering. I’m definitely not a pro (and will never be one, because my job is graphic design). Most of my software and plugins I got on sale or on Knobcloud (can’t invest that much for music production/post software) so I’m just exploring available software until I find something that works best for my needs.1 point

Audacity has audio loopback capability built-in. That capability gives you the ability to record what you hear coming from your computer headphones or speakers. You might be able to use either the standalone or 32 bit version of the Proteus VX synth plugin to generate sound and Audacity to record the audio output.1 point
