  1. This is my first video edited with Adobe Premiere instead of Vegas. It was a nightmare to learn and it will take me a long time to catch up to my workflow with Vegas, but it never crashed once.

  6. It should come with a warning that users may become disappointed in one or more of their favorite sweeteners. "I put this thing on my drum bus and it makes everything sound so much phatter while also enhancing clarity!" Well, yeah, it jacked up the level by 3dB, thereby hitting a sweeter spot on the Fletcher-Munson curve. That's how that works. It sure saves having to continually turn the effect's output down when I'm auditioning presets. I wonder what it's doing between the time you insert it in an FX bin and the time you see the UI, it takes the longest of any effect I've seen.

  7. I'm sure that many of the original factory presets are indeed the result of a random name generator. My metaphor for Meldaproduction's wacky preset names and sparse documentation is that it's as if I found an artifact from an advanced civilization, and it does certain cool things when I press the obvious buttons, but then if I open a panel, there's all this other stuff that I have no idea how to operate. They're like the TARDIS, maybe that's why geeks like me dig 'em so much. 😁

  15. I think a cool addition would be a PC module that simply sent to, and received from, the effects bin, so you could place the effects bin anywhere you wanted in the PC chain...sort of like the external effect plug-in, but within Cakewalk. Here's why. I've often been asked when you "should" use one or the other. My answer has always been that the PC is conceptually equivalent to being part of a mixer, in that the visuals are consolidated in one place. The effects bin is equivalent to outboard gear, where interface windows open up individually. Generally I think the concept works well, but it breaks down with things like Tape Emulators, which you likely want to have at the end of a chain, so that implies putting the PC after the effects bin - but you may not want dynamics and EQ there. If an "effects bin insert" existed, I'm sure there would be plenty of times I'd put it somewhere in the middle of the PC.

  16. In a lot of the plugins the preset names themselves are baffling. Whatever is "Thracian porridge" supposed to sound like? (aside from output of a random name generator?)

  19. I guess my 15 minutes of fame came in about 1981, when our band was interviewed on radio station KTYD in Santa Barbara, CA. It was actually closer to an hour, though. We had just recorded 4 songs at a local studio (garage) and were featured on their 'New Music' hour. I think it was a Sunday. I was just the rhythm guitar player and I sang a little, so we all assumed that the main guy, Silvester Hernandez would do most of the talking since he wrote most of the songs and did most of the singing. But once they got started, everybody just clammed up, even our loquacious drummer Scott Slicton (RIP). I don't know if it was stage fright or what, but we began with a lot of dead air. So I started talking and pretty much had the stage to myself. The DJ asked questions and played our 4 songs, and since KTYD was at that time one of the more popular stations in that area, our music was heard by possibly thousands of people that night. Okay, maybe hundreds.

  25. Hi. I have a NI A61 (and a S25), where the transport/record/stop works well with CbB. I haven't done any other setup/MIDI implementation with any of those (yet). All the best.

  29. Don't forget that by using Pro Channel effects you have the chance that per every Pro Channel module you can use presets for many kinds of instruments. For example in compression module you can choose algorytms for kick, snare and so on. Basses and guitars and voices, piano and keyboards. .
