  3. YES! Anything you buy is Tax Deductible as a Business Expense! I guess that's one of the perks of having a Pro Studio! If I could deduct what I buy from my income they would owe ME money!

  4. BTW we pushed an update to our installer that detects and shuts down the Waves Local server until this is fixed by Waves. So it should at least temporarily resolve this from our end.

  13. I’m happy to announce that Cakewalk is getting the attention it deserves from industry professionals! I encourage you to watch the video above I did with Warren Huart of Produce Like A Pro. This was a promotional venture to kick off the release of my new course in Warren’s Pro Mix Academy. (The Ultimate Cakewalk Course) If you ever have any questions feel free to email me. I also go live once a week for Live QA and Tutorials. Last but not least here is an entire playlist showing love to this DAW: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwqZ0GPSfFgbc8gLCxaYngRGVvlaf57gI If you’d like to learn more about the Cakewalk course you can find it on the Pro Mix Academy here: https://transactions.sendowl.com/stores/5349/205312

  14. Since I got Opacity II, I always suspected I would get Opacity if it went on sale. They can put me on the list for Opacity III if the $$ is right. This is going to be an expensive month. How will I pay for it all? Did you know that the very best way to buy Opacity is through my affiliate link? It sounds a lot better if you do that. At least to me it does. 😃 https://audioplugin.deals/deal-2/ref/144/

  15. Izotope is notorious for releasing major versions every year. Eventually this rent-to-own model becomes a subscription model. FWIW, had I been a fan of iZotope plugins, running a professional studio, I wouldn't mind paying a monthly fee to keep my business and theirs afloat.

  16. AFAIK, they call different functions. All plug-ins may be bypassed in the FX Rack. This is implemented in the DAW itself. The bypass button in the plug-in standard header is linked to the VST3 host bypass function. This must be implemented by the plug-in and is only available in VST3 format. Unlike the DAW plug-in bypass, the VST3 host bypass may be automated. IIRC, because this may be automated, it does not cause PDC to be recomputed like the DAW plug-in bypass options.

  17. I couldn't help it and started watching the video. It's painful. The filters filter, the EQ EQs, the compressor compresses. At some point he says that this plugin has the "perfect amount of bands for an EQ." Dude, don't try so hard. As for workflow, there's always trade offs. What if you want two compressors in series? Also, I don't see a control to do parallel compression. Single window vs multiple windows is the same with tradeoffs, single is more convenient, multiple shows more parameters. "The really cool thing about this is [that] you can change the order of these modules." Plugin of the year. His conclusion is that you get "pro" sound out of this and that's why it's worth its price. What a load... Funny thing, the next video YouTube recommended was one of Dan Worrall's videos from the series "What's wrong with stock plugins?" I like the algorithm's sense of humor.

  20. Hell yeah it's worth it! If I owned or worked in a professional studio and it had the sound and workflow I needed for the job and to make a living it would be. But me being a hobbyist sitting here in my spare bedroom office/music room they would have to come down off that price by about 95% to even consider it. I wonder if you own a pro studio if you get tax deductions for plugins?

  21. You know how little a plugin is worth when whoever is presenting it has to spend a third of the video talking good things about the plugin. Just take those 1500 bucks you were going to use to buy it, and get something like FabFilter's Total Bundle, which is 500 bucks cheaper and gives you an extremely versatile plugin collection that can do almost anything.

  24. Definitely! Some of those simple 2D, one screen games were awesome! Crystal Caves, Commander Keen, Joust, all the Mario and similar types... On the flip-side, I eventually want to get into VR game development, but with Myst-like games. Immersive with puzzles and awesome background music.

  25. It has been a while since I have recorded any new songs, but back into it at the moment. This song is just me and my new guitar - a Maton EM100C-808 Messiah. Finding the new guitar very inspiring for my song writing and recording. In recent years, songwriters have been encouraged to write songs about mental health to help bring community awareness to this most sensitive and important subject. Help Me Free My Mind is like all my other songs, written from my own experiences and life observations. Help Me Free My Mind - Video

  26. These videos were produced for a "visit Oregon" campaign. Yes, pot is legal there. Sadly, if you go you may be disappointed. I have been to Oregon hundreds of times and only saw a flying whale once. The giant bunnies are totally legit, though.

  27. Genius lyrics, perfectly described and very well performed. Don't ever stop writing. 🙂 Never been to Glasto but I went to collect my daughter and her mates from V Festival once. Took me ages to find her as I wandered around what looked the aftermath of a refugee camp after a nuclear strike - people wandering around half-dazed with abandoned tents, debris and litter strewn all over the place. 😂😂

  28. Midi tracks will follow project temp so you can just slow or speed up the temp and it will follow. To get audio tracks to this you have convert them to groove clips, via the inspector, or use the audio transient toolbar to have them follow the project tempo. The quality of the affected audio varies depending on the material and how much you change the temp.

  29. I think it needs to be said that izotope DO make great products. That out the way. They also have a highly addiction inducing marketing cycle. Each year a new BETTER version. They hook you in with the elements, tempt you with GREAT upgrade deals. I also have a sneaking suspicion that there is an inbuilt product degradation in the AI. The first months of use it seems to produce miracles, after which the AI appears no better than Bandlab Mastering (or is that just me?). Going subscription just seems like an extension of their marketing practise. For good and for bad.

  30. I suppose it's a matter of perspective. As a hobbyist NOT generating income or making a living at it, I want to buy my plugins and move on. That's why "free for life updates" like Melda and some others do has a lot of appeal. In fact, I guess the "rent-to-own" model only works with those companies who are not trying to continually generate income from you once you've made your initial purchase... 🤔

  32. Right on! That's the reason I refuse to subscribe to Adobe's Creative Cloud. They don't even allow you to buy a licensed copy any more. No ownership allowed! I'm not a pro, just a home hobbyist that doesn't make any money with music or art. I just want to buy my tools and not subscribe to nothing!

  36. When i did this I got a dialog about some component already being installed (without the dialog identifying what) and acting like it made the install fail. But it appeared to work anyway. I think Wave's is trying to install one or more of the Microsoft C++ runtimes and didn't pass the right flags to silence the installer. I really wish companies would do a better job with their installers. I'm still upset with Magix and their totally broken ACID Pro installers.

We can't wait for the release date either - this album has been finished for ages, but it never seemed the right time to release it!!! I've already finished writing the next album and have just started to record it!!!!! suffering a bit of a Covid traffic jam sort of thing Keep well Nigel

  39. Not necessarily. A couple years ago, I bought a 22" Sabian HH Dry Ride for $150. INCLUDING SHIPPING! I was looking for a drier ride than my Zildjian Avedis and threw a bid up there just for the hell of it, never thinking I would win. Mine was the only bid. This is a $445 cymbal. Only thing wrong with it was that it was like new and hadn't developed a patina on it yet.

  42. i did some testing on my "away" system - laptop, Q802USB (16bit 48K), and using ASIO4ALL (only ASIO for this older device), MME, WASAPI Exclusive/ Shared, and WDM/KS. not surprising that the MME and ASIO4ALL are only about 32 samples apart (same as the ASIO control panel latency settings of 32 samples). on my system the WDM was closest with WASAPI (either mode) showing the worst. note - PDC was engaged (no plugins anywhere), ASIO reported 1568 samples. RTL reported 1968 with the loopback test on ASIO, 2231 for Windows Sound Exclusive, 7000+ for Direct Sound and Windows Sound Shared.

  43. Thanks for the tip. But I expect that it's going to take me years to just get through the bundled Ableton packs in Suite, including the free Max for Live devices. I just recently upgraded to Suite in a pre-release no-brainer deal.

  46. Right Click Windows Menu (or Lower Left Corner of Primary Monitor) Open Command Prompt (Admin) Command: cd C:\Windows\Installer Run the installer in the error box when you try to uninstall it from Add-Remove Programs - It gives you the full path to it - write it down on paper if you have to. The installer will start, and you will be able to uninstall the Melodyne Runtime
