  1. I could see "all things chord track" being implemented incrementally in phases, as there are many facets to be considered, with some features I perceive to be easier to implement than others. My perception of functions, in increasing order of implementation difficulty: Tools to generate chords on the chord track: chord selection/voicing tool circle of fifths tool chord proximity tool chord suggestion tool MIDI keyboard input chord pads (with MIDI mapping for realtime triggering) existing MIDI track data Tool to generate scales as part of the chord track During editing, having option for MIDI notes to snap to the chords and/or scales on the chord track During playback/recording, having the option for existing MIDI tracks to follow the defined chord track and/or scales (should note changes be made destructively or in real-time? - there are pros and cons to each) During recording, transform in coming MIDI notes to snap to the chords and/or scales (never play a "wrong note") (For the following audio related items, I'm assuming that Cakewalk ARA 2 support or the presence of some version of Melodyne could be parlayed) Enhance ARA 2 support to enable bi-directional sharing of chord track data between Cakewalk and Melodyne Extract MIDI from monophonic melodic audio During editing, having option for monophonic audio notes to snap to the chords and/or scales on the chord track During playback/recording, having the option for monophonic audio notes to follow the defined chord track and/or scales Extract MIDI from polyphonic harmonic audio Extract chords from polyphonic harmonic audio During playback/recording, having the option for polyphonic audio notes to follow the defined chord track and/or scales

  5. I was surfing for some female vocals and ran across a male vocal chops clip that was too strange not to use. It turned into a funk song . I found a groove and just hung there. I did get to try some new stuff on my cello. It's been up and down from Soundcloud 4 times getting it to this point , so any suggestions are more than welcome. I wanted to wait awhile with so many Fantastic songs posted lately , but after seeing Gary Bruns new studio pics in the coffee house , I'm wanting to finish this one and start remodeling.. 8. The Tower Records in the photo looks like one in San Francisco. There's a sign in the foreground which says "North Beach" and the top of the distinctive TransAmerica building is in the background. That store was several blocks from Fisherman's Wharf. I only visited it a couple times. Perhaps, the photo is a montage! Or mirage 🙂. Many Tower stores had a similar facade. I bought a lot of LPs and CDs from other Tower locations. Drifting away from the original topic ...

  9. https://www.bigfishaudio.com/momentum.html Thanks to @Xel Ohh for the tip on this. I installed it earlier and been noodling around with it for 2 hours. Works fine inside Cakewalk & Ableton. Could this be the FREE missing Sampler for Cakewalk? I think so, very nice features, try yourself .. The full walkthrough video at the link above is well worth a look This video also worth a look: SO what do ye think? Look forward to thoughts ...

  10. yes, there is an upgrade path. You pay the difference after release date. So this way, you can buy this now then upgrade to pro after release and you would have saved $5 and got an extra preset pack.

Just a note - in case you are considering either of the deals mentioned in the OP. You can get the Bundle for $99 instead of $509, refer to the thread linked below.

  12. Here is a good intro vid of Cubase Chord Track that will get you thinking. Nico is Swiss. He uses a text to voice narrator. He has many excellent vids on youtube or his own site composingtips.com. Check him out. Some of the vids are Cubase specific but most are Daw neutral with a focus on orchestration techniques.

  13. I bought Abbey Road on the day it was released from that there store (assuming it was on Sunset Blvd. which is what it looks like). My buddy had a battery powered record player and we listened to in the car before going home and putting it on the "big box" for full effect.

  15. As I read in another post Noel wants feedback from us for a chord track and what features we would wish for it. So I open here a topic for this. I'll hope I will find the right words, because english is not my foreign language. Generally I would like to see a chord track like in Cubase or in S1 with the followin features: - drag 'n' drop a chord or pad from the chord track onto a midi track and it will create a midi-part with the right notes (in S1 not possible at the moment) - listen to a chord-pad / preview with a vsti - send chords (midi-data) direct to an external instrument on a specific midi-channel (like in S1). In Cubase you have to route the chords to a midi-track and send those midi-data to the external instrument. Also possible, but one step more. - togehther with ARA2, audio-data can be transformed with the chord track like in S1 (nice to have) - midi-data must follow the chord track and are automatically transposed when a chord will change - something like a chord assistant or a circle of fifths where you can see chords matching together and a drag 'n' drop feature from this assistant Again, a chord track like in Cubase AND i AM HAPPY:

  16. I've attached an Articulation Map I created for the key-switchable solo instruments I use the most in Miroslav Philharmionik2. I hope other Miroslav users will find this useful. I think Atriculation Maps are fantastic, especially the build-in Chord Triads map. This map make writing chords for a melody super easy. The function is so well designed and laid out, it's a real boost to creativity. Bravo! It does crash a lot 😞 but I expect these bugs to be worked out. Miroslav Solo.artmap

  20. I bought this today and have to say that it is GLORIOUS. Very foreboding, full of doom and gloom. Perfect for adding those "the horde is here!" moments to your compositions. You can tune the SFX horns to a specific note and there are also playable horn pads that allow mixing two horn sounds together, which can create interesting effects. A possible downside is that the soundscape is pretty dark throughout which limits where it can be used. Also, even with the pads I think it's best suited (and intended) for drones, risers and slowly creeping simple melodies. I initially thought I might use this to replace some brass parts, but after playing with it I quickly scratched that idea. Still, it's my new favorite library. 🙂

  27. When I started using the Custom Module, I stumbled onto a workaround using Workspaces--different sets of buttons based on different types of projects. Not disagreeing with you or @Lord Tim's suggestions immediately below; just mentioning one possible workaround until there is a change. Another option might be to have a Folders Module so that a button will call up a floating window of custom buttons (for example). WRT Workspaces, a while ago I explored micro changes using Workspaces. Based on my experience, it might be possible to have a Workspace that changes just the current set of custom buttons. Again, having a parameter that allows users to choose 9, 12, 15, 18 . . . n buttons sounds like a good idea to me and is probably easier and less confusing than using a Workspaces work-around. Lines as dividers, icons, category labels, etc. would work for me, too.

  28. I get what you are saying Aidan... When I got the Komplete Ultimate 13 upgrade recently I needed to clear a lot of space to make room for some of the libraries. So I did a ruthless audit to root out stuff I didn't need to keep on the SSDs. For sample libraries I found that I didn't use them often enough to warrant the space that they took up but when I did it was mostly vocal and drum samples that I used. I also used the MIDI from them but of course MIDI is tiny compared to audio samples so I kept all of those. With Melodyne/Revoice or even basic DAW features you can pretty much do anything you like with these vocals apart from change the actual words used (but you can build up sentences). You might even use them as sound sources in a synth. This guy gives an example of chopping up and altering a vocal sample so it almost becomes an instrument..

  31. Best time for Native Instruments, at least if you're buying a bundle, is during their 50% off sale around May/June. In the past BF sales may have matched but not beaten their Summer sales. I always wait for that sale to upgrade.

  33. It’s new and there is an intro offer. Coupon is valid until tomorrow. STREAMLINER-INTRO-12999 if you own any other ADPTR plugins or some other mixing/mastering tools then it’s $99. Login into your plug-in alliance account to see the discounted price. Seems pretty useful to evaluate what music will sound in different scenarios like streaming services, etc.

  36. The traditional method of disabling default shortcuts work for the screenset shortcuts 1 though 9 above the QWERTY keyboard. In the Global area of keyboard shortcuts in preferences is a function called "Do Nothing: Use to block pre-defined accelerators" Bind shortcuts to this function to disable them. If using workspaces, there is no need to mess with keybindings, Disable Screensets in the Show in GUI section of the Workspace Manager and screensets along with their keybindings disappear.

  37. Eons ago, I was a founding member of a band called Private Lightning. We were lucky enough to put out one album on A&M records, but they screwed up the whole manufacturing process on it and that was that. This was the single from that album, which I have worked on to make it much better than it was when it was released. I hope you like it and I will release more over the next few weeks. https://baselines.com/?p=5788

  38. Hi fab forum folk Here's a new song hopefully putting a slightly more positive spin on the current world climate. Lyrics below link Doing Nothing With You Written, performed and recorded by Staypress Chorus I'm Not going to the movies I'm Not eating out too I'm Not going for a coffee But At least I'm doing nothing with you But At least I'm doing nothing with you V1 After months of looking at the same 4 walls I guess the stay ain't going away Who cares what's happening in the outside world? You're a good way to spend my day Prechorus And people may think that it's a tedious do But I get to spend every minute with you Chorus V2 And I cant go out and meet anyone new No reason to put on any underwear Should be bored of looking at the same old view But I get to look at you so I don't care Prechorus Chorus Middle bit Isolation can be difficult The lack of human contact But being with you night and day Has left my sanity surprisingly intact Chorus to end (twice....wait for it)

  43. I am familiar with chord tracks in hardware (e.g., sound modules) as implemented in what Roland called "Intelligent Arrangers" a few decades ago. I am not sure if the chord tracks in other DAWs have similar capabilities, but I can envision Cakewalk implementing them in such a way as to work together with and complement articulation maps, the arranger, and the inspector-based arpeggiator as well as 21st century functions (e.g., chord manipulation).

  44. Appreciated. Maybe I should mention..... Instruments from East West Voices of Empire, Symphonic Choirs and Symphony Orchestra and Storm Drum. Bass from Kontakt Factory Library, the arpeggio sound and a small amount of choir from Roland Complete Orchestra. Recorded, mixed and mastered entirely in CbB with a little help from Waves and Izotope plugins. Oh, and backing vocs from Cheryl & me! And she produced the video😀
