  2. The EZkeys 2 Chord Library is also updated to 1.0.1 Release notes for EZkeys 2.0.2 2023-08-15 EZkeys 2.0.2 is now available to download using the Product Manager or from the ‘My Products’ area in your Toontrack account. Please note that version 2.0.2 is required for the support of EZkeys sound expansions (EKXs) released from this point forward (Q3 2023). CHANGES General If the EZkeys 2 core library is not installed, there is now an entry for it in the library menu anyway, under a separate header. Selecting it shows a dialog with a possibility to rescan for the library in case it gets installed while EZkeys 2 is running. “Open Settings” has been added to the library menu. Song Track Notes that are automatically added because of chord changes are now humanized. “Replace MIDI” and inserting new chord markers can now move syncopations. Whenever chords are automatically added for a MIDI performance and the analysis finds a single long chord, it now adds a chord marker on every bar (or on a syncopation near the bar). Suggest Chords Whenever the Suggest Chords view is open and a selection on the song track makes Suggest Chords actually show chords, the song track items that are not part of the selection are dimmed. Grooves Tab In the Options menu in Grooves, there is now an option to exclude empty bars (without notes and CC) at the beginning and/or the end of grooves in User MIDI and linked folders. Changing velocity now shows +/- on tooltip values to better emphasize that these values are relative and not absolute. Grid Editor In the pedal editor, there is now an option to merge blocks and another one to extend a block to the next chord. The default keyboard shortcuts for zooming in/out vertically on Mac now use alt/option instead of shift (with plus and minus). Bandmate Grid lines have been added to the background of the tracks. With an audio file loaded and “Drums” selected, changing the key signature will now transpose the chords and the output MIDI. The “Skip All” has been removed from Bandmate’s missing-file dialog since only one input file is supported. Settings A specific MIDI channel for MIDI input can now be selected. BUG FIXES General In Studio One on Mac with the “graphics hardware acceleration” option enabled, the EZkeys 2 GUI should no longer be slow and choppy. In Logic Pro on Apple silicon Macs, MIDI Out should no longer cause crashes. Changing presets or libraries with Program Change / Bank Select MIDI was very slow and would sometimes give unexpected results. Changing presets while playing could in some cases cause a crash. The MIDI Learn settings are now preserved when a library preset is loaded. Cancelling “Save MIDI Learn Preset” would sometimes cause a crash. Drag and drop is now properly disabled whenever a modal dialog is open. Importing an EZkeys 1 project would create an extra undo event. “dimb9” has been changed to “dim b9” in chord displays. Song Track The song track should now be better at finding the correct chords in user MIDI. Adding user MIDI to the track could incorrectly split some of its notes. Recording MIDI in existing blocks on the track could cause chords outside of affected parts to get reanalyzed. Pedal values/curves were not imported properly from EZkeys 1 projects. “Select Containing Folder in Grooves” would not work on song track MIDI from imported EZkeys 1 projects. An ongoing Amount calculation will now get aborted by Replace MIDI, editing in Grid Editor and other ways of manipulating the MIDI. Starting and stopping playback would cancel Amount and cause the knob/value to flicker. Merging blocks could unnecessarily extend the resulting block. Drawing MIDI blocks with the Pencil Tool under chords now adds new notes where there are chord changes as well as on bars. Using “Replace MIDI” on certain user MIDI files could create silence when the MIDI got duplicated due to the track selection being longer than the file. Edit Chord View Clicking the info sign for “Adjust Notes to Scale” no longer toggles the function. “Adjust Notes to Scale” can now split a note that stretches over several chords. In some cases, changing chords would play a preview of wrong notes. Suggest Chords Changing the chord selection from Suggest Chords now properly updates song track components (Edit Play Style, etc.) In many time signatures, Suggest Chords would never change the chord rhythm after bar 16. Grooves Tab Scanning for new sound libraries in the missing-library dialog no longer rebuilds the MIDI database (but looks for new MIDI libraries to add). Adding a linked folder called “User MIDI” could cause the actual User MIDI folder to stop working properly. Loading a project containing filter selections now properly grays out MIDI library folders that should be grayed out. Adding user MIDI files containing no notes no longer causes the intensity values to become broken. Grooves in User MIDI were not always transposed correctly when dragged to the song track. While “Show Web Shop MIDI” is being activated, it is no longer possible to mark/unmark grooves as favorite, because that could cause a crash. The “Show MIDI Files from Subfolders” option was not remembered between sessions. Pressing Cancel in the Tap2Find view would render the Tap2Find drop zone preview silent. Grid Editor “Remove Overlaps” can now adjust notes that are not selected as well. “Remove Overlaps” could cause some notes to get zero length. Merging notes could make the MIDI unsorted, which would cause playback to behave strangely. A note that had been merged with another note could be split again by dragging it. CC values where not shown correctly in all cases depending on how the MIDI files got loaded to the song track. Copy-dragging notes could make wrong notes get selected afterwards. Copy-dragging blocks in the pedal editor did not work well. Pasting in the pedal editor now selects the newly inserted block(s) and deselects the others. It is now possible to undo a change of the Highlight Keys scale/mode. Highlight Keys should no longer become activated when the key signature on the song track is changed. Dragging notes and then pressing alt on Windows or alt+cmd on Mac before releasing the mouse button would create extra invalid notes that could cause crashes. Auto-scroll in the Grid Editor would not work after marquee selection had been used. Bandmate Bandmate could fail to open a dialog after an audio file import followed by a preset/library change, which in turn could lead to crashes. Trying to scroll horizontally in the grooves list using trackpad or shift+wheel would inadvertently cause the tracks to scroll. Resetting a chord to original in the Bandmate track could cause other chords to get their inversions changed. Chord detection of both MIDI and audio is now improved and more stable. Chords from audio and MIDI are now more stable when track contents are moved. Inserting short syncopated chords could sometimes render them uneditable. Fixed a visual bug where borders of audio blocks would look thicker than those of MIDI blocks. Tempo and time signature controls are no longer disabled when there is no output MIDI. Having a source that generated no search results lead to these controls being disabled, so it was not possible to change tempo and/or time signature to try to find results that way.

  5. No. Kicking puppies, littering, lying to children, taking up two parking spaces, pranking strangers for Instagram, posting revenge porn , telling gullible rubes they're going to hell if they don't buy you a jet, telling noobs that if you don't record at 192KHz you aren't a pro - these are things bad people do. Admitting you can't hear an audible difference between the 14 compressors already in your kit, that's just confidently embracing reality.

  7. Decided to spend time improving CPU usage and it seems to have paid off. For my m1, it dropped from 7% to 2% according to Instruments. Compatibility is better now as well, after rewriting part of the OpenGL engine to fix issues on certain AMD setups. Latest version is now v1.8.4

  9. +1, watch the teaser for it at a minimum. MPhatik is more for processing transient material (drums) with the internal FX, but can also restore the dynamic range of that processing (where most FX chains cannot). Of course you can apply it to anything for fun, but transient material is the target use.

  12. I like Waves, I've never had an issue with them or their software. I was bummed out when it looked like they were going Subscription only, that would have been the end for me, but the plugs would have kept working long enough to see me out, and if they didn't I could replace pretty much any Waves plugin if it come to that with what I already own, I just choose to use Waves. They are rock solid and generally speaking excellent quality. So apart from being bummed out, the Subscription only thing was of no concern to me, just business as usual, but I am glad the reversed the decision. Like any company/Dev, it's their prerogative to do whatever they decide to do, I mightn't like it, but I don't know the circumstances behind any decision they make. As to WUP, it doesn't bother me, buy it when there is something to benefit me, if not it's of no concern, still get any updates that may be required, and with Waves it's not very often it's bug fixes, usually adding something like more Head Phone Models, adding integration with this or that, I've never been personally aware of a bug let alone brought down by one, solid as. This last WUP'n has been pretty awesome with the amount of useful, quality plugins for free, and the WUP'n season is nowhere near over, so there could be more to come, if not it's more than paid for itself as far as I'm concerned, all praise to the mighty Mercury. Long live Waves, may they outlive my need for plugins at the least. Now where are those Melda threads, I got some pics of industrial strength eye googles going unused 😈

  18. Great product, poor business model. Hopefully the stuffed shirts in the audio software industry realized the mistake by Waves. Some users there is no forgiveness for Waves. Damage is done. Did they ever apologize? No. BTW Reason adopted the former Cakewalk model by offering new content every month. How many loops can one acquire? The problem is they focused less on the DAW.

  20. This Melda product isn't about amp simulation so you might want to dive in more before writing it off, is isn't even a guitar plugin for the most part. But it can be since it has amp and convolution built in. Not sure what Guitar Pro a transcription/notation type of program has to do with anything Melda offers in this plugin or otherwise.

  24. Recording with the internal audio device will always be worse with regard to latency. Save up for a small external Audio I/O interface with genuine ASIO drivers. You'll never look back. I've used one of these for years on remote work and it's been a trooper.

  36. They (Voyetra) teamed up with Turtle Beach and released DOP http://www.vgmpf.com/Wiki/index.php/Digital_Orchestrator_Pro I had it (still have the disks somewhere) and it was capable of recording audio. I think Turtle Beach thought of it more as a vehicle to move their hardware (soundcards) and not as a viable product in itself. From what I recall it never really caught on big. Don't recall it being heavily marketed (compared to other audio products, though I recall it being advertised in the back pages of Electronic Musician and other magazines). I loved it. I didn't have to buy a MAC to record audio! Soon Cubase & Cakewalk had DAWs that could record audio** on PCs and DOP (which AFAIK never got out of v1) was just left behind. Turtle Beach never further invested in DOP or sold its interests. **maybe they already did and I just didn't have the money to consider them... Maybe my memory's a little murky so might be off on a detail or two, but I went from Voyetra Sequencer Plus Gold to DOP to Sonar 2.x...

  37. I think Syntronik Deluxe is the older version (v1). There are new presets for the older synths in Syntronik 2. For example, "99" has 37ish new presets including "afternoon sun pad" and "comet flash" in addition to the presets in 1 ("autumn rain", "chime piano" etc). However, I THINK that the new presets are based on the same oscillators (sound packs) sampled in Syntronik 1 / Deluxe. The new ones use the Sampletank 4 engine (2019), not the older SampleTank 3 (2013).

  39. Since it decides level hitting first plugin it may very well do so. - a compressor for one thing is affected a lot - many hardware emulating ones does not like 0 dBFs at all, and you have to turn gain down a bit

They are maintaining their plugins - see changelog below, but no VST3 versions now and probably (AFAIK) not on the horizon. 43. Ok here’s some answers to how to prevent it from happening . 1- Don’t go for lunch leaving Cakewalk recording. Yes we all do this once. 2- Don’t forget to stop when recording midi parts and then hit your controller at 2 minutes after the song ended. 3- Check that your midi controller is not randomly sending controller data from the joystick. 4-Pay attention when copying and pasting where the paste has gone if it isn’t what you wanted. 5- Always check the Undo list when something you pasted didn’t seem to work. It might have landed on measure 400 6- Don’t use Ripple edit on a complex project 7- Hidden tracks? 8. Your Cat found the R key. 9- Keep projects tidy

  45. Brings the sub in line with a WUPed perpetual licence. If you are WUPed you get a second licence. I use a dongle, much less likely to go wrong than a hard drive. Before I retired I managed around 50 dongle based licences (not music, eack licence $7.5K) used in locations around the world. These were moved from location to location frequently. We lost two in ten years, one we knew was stolen and another lost in international shipping. So I don't consider them that vulnerable.
