  2. Dear Jesus! How many times does it have to be explained to you whiners that: 1) "Lifetime updates" means the lifetime of the product (or the company.) Not your lifetime. 2) The company that made the "lifetime updates" offer DOESN'T EXIST ANY MORE. It was dissolved in 2017. Therefore there is no one around to honor it. 3) BandLab did not buy Cakewalk, inc. There was no Cakewalk, inc. to buy (see 2 above.) They only bought the intellectual property. Yet they still gave you 5 years of continued improvement and development FOR FREE even though they were under no obligation to do so.

  5. umm.. From SOS review: https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/moog-moogerfooger-plug-ins (need account on SOS to read full article) and that was at the MSRP of $249 Kind of disappointing when people either slam stuff or praise it as mana from heaven without either trying it or at least researching it. I haven't tried Moog's plugins so I can't comment on how good or bad they are. A couple of videos for your consideration Edit: Here's the web page on Moog's site documenting the Moogerfoogers plugins https://www.moogmusic.com/products/moogerfooger-effects-plug-ins There are sound demos for all of them (it's a side scroller - check about 3 screens over).

  7. My sample libraries just won't fit on a single 1-TB drive, much less on C:, so I have two 1TB drives, a conventional drive for my less-used libs and a 1TB SSD for the ones I use most. These contain not only Kontakt libraries but also Spectrasonics instruments, Superior Drummer, Cakewalk samples and anything else that's big that I don't want taking up space on my C: drive. The problem is that installers often have their own ideas as to where that stuff should go, and it's not worth the headache to argue with them because in some cases you'll have to make the same argument again with the next update. Worse, you may click through prompts without thinking and end up with duplicate installations. Fortunately, Windows offers a fairly easy solution to this problem with a feature called "symbolic links". Directories are entries in other directories, just like files are. Symbolic links let you change where a directory entry physically points to, while still maintaining the original directory entry. Because this trick works at the file system level, programs are fooled into thinking the directories and files are still at the old location and are able to find them easily. For example, my c:\program files\cakewalk folder looks like this: Volume in drive C is OS Volume Serial Number is 566F-D73B Directory of C:\Program Files\Cakewalk 06/15/2023 05:34 AM <DIR> . 06/15/2023 05:34 AM <DIR> .. 10/15/2016 03:52 PM <DIR> CA2A Leveling Amplifier 05/06/2023 11:32 AM <DIR> Cakewalk Core 06/10/2023 04:45 PM <SYMLINKD> Dimension Pro [e:\cakewalklibs\Dimension Pro] 06/09/2023 03:06 PM <DIR> Next 07/26/2017 12:17 PM <SYMLINKD> Rapture [e:\cakewalklibs\Rapture] 09/12/2016 10:36 AM <DIR> Shared DXi 05/16/2023 12:40 PM <DIR> Shared MIDI Plugins 05/06/2023 11:33 AM <DIR> Shared Plugins 06/03/2023 02:00 PM <DIR> Shared Surfaces 06/03/2023 02:00 PM <DIR> Shared Utilities 06/03/2023 02:00 PM <DIR> Sonar 10/26/2017 05:18 PM <DIR> SONAR Platinum 07/26/2017 12:18 PM <SYMLINKD> Studio Instruments [e:\cakewalklibs\Studio Instruments] 06/30/2018 05:49 PM <DIR> VST32 06/01/2023 05:21 PM <DIR> VstPlugins 09/12/2016 10:36 AM <DIR> z3ta+ 0 File(s) 0 bytes 18 Dir(s) 137,609,318,400 bytes free Note that the Dimension Pro, Rapture and Studio Instruments folders say "<SYMLINKD>" rather than "<DIR>". That's because those folders have actually been moved to the E: drive, with symbolic links left behind in the original folder that redirect to their actual location, also shown in the directory listing. CbB/Sonar is none the wiser, and opens them normally. I did not have to reinstall or reconfigure anything. This works for any files or folders, including other large data such as video games or databases. And it's easy to do. The only wrinkle is that the command to create a symbolic link, named mklink, is a DOS command, so you have to open a command prompt to use it. First, copy your folders to wherever you want them to be moved to. Then delete the original folder(s) and create a new symbolic link with the same name. In my case, I put all my Cakewalk samples on the e: drive in a top-level folder called "cakewalklibs". So to create the link for Studio Instruments, I navigated to the real Cakewalk folder and typed in the following: mklink /D "Studio Instruments" "e:\cakewalklibs\Studio Instruments" The /D option tells it I'm creating a directory (folder) rather than a file. The quotes are necessary because the folder names contain spaces. And that's it. Cakewalk now happily opens the instruments and finds their samples, thinking they are still on C:. Kontakt finds any libraries I've referenced in previous projects (even though Kontakt itself is still on C:). Even Windows' File Explorer plays along with the deception, so if I ask to see what's in c:\program files\cakewalk\studio instruments, I get a listing that shows everything's still there: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Studio Instruments>dir Volume in drive C is OS Volume Serial Number is 566F-D73B Directory of C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Studio Instruments 07/26/2017 12:11 PM <DIR> . 07/26/2017 12:11 PM <DIR> .. 07/26/2017 12:11 PM <DIR> Documentation 07/26/2017 12:11 PM <DIR> SI-Bass Guitar 07/26/2017 12:11 PM <DIR> SI-Drum Kit 07/26/2017 12:11 PM <DIR> SI-Electric Piano 07/26/2017 12:11 PM <DIR> SI-String Section 0 File(s) 0 bytes 7 Dir(s) 259,174,551,552 bytes free The only indication that it's not a real folder is that Windows Explorer changes its icon, adding a little arrow like you'd see on a shortcut. To all the world, the Studio Instruments folder is still there, but in reality I've just freed up 1.3GB on my C: drive.

  8. It was an honorable thing (upon his passing) that Bob transferred ownership of Moog to his employees. IMO, It's sad that none of those employees had the passion, vision, drive to take Moog to even greater places. This is kind of like a capital finance company buying Guitar Center (and now Sweetwater). Sure hope Sweetwater stays relatively the same. My 30-year Sales Engineer Stuart Hisey retired just before the company was sold. Felt a strange sense of being abandoned. 🤪 The one constant is that nothing stays the same.

  18. I used to moderate a forum with a feature where someone could see their own posts, but no one else could aside from admins. When the "bullies" didn't get responses to their trying to stir things up, they became frustrated, and just left of their own accord. Banning people is only a temporary solution, because they can re-register under a different user name. As you said, "some people come for a fight." If no one fights them, their incentive to fight goes away. The only way I know of to deal with bullies is simply not to take the bait.

  24. I see that reading comprehension and critical thinking are apparently not your forté either. This is the second time you've spouted off that nonsense. Nobody has said anything about people "messing with our DAW. " We're just calling out crybabies with an entitlement mentality and their incessant sniveling about the world owing them something. Adults don't expect that the world owes them a damn thing and adults don't pout when they don't get their way.

  33. In another thread one member took a handful of my words out of context thereby distorting the totality of my post. Since this thread seems to be responding to that thread, I feel obligated to comment. I would encourage everyone who is genuinely concerned about the issue raised by this rather unfortunate thread to read all of the previous posts of the person who elevated a few of my words into a major issue. Perhaps you will see other negative posts. In fact there is at least one that shows the member to be fond of playing word games (verbal sport) in order to dramatically criticize Cakewalk/SONAR for the purpose of getting attention. It was disheartening to have my words used in such a way to intentionally provoke conflict. It is even worse to be called a bully as part of this attempt to rekindle a conflict that wasn't a barroom brawl. My intent was sincere; however, in light of this new thread, I just cannot remain silent. The person allegedly bullied who wrote this: is not innocent of using "wittiness" and other forms of verbal confrontation and drama: I stand by my original posts.

  37. The concern here is the buy out and possibly of vaporware. I use the delay a lot. It’s a goto for long dub throws. Most of the others I’d rather use trying to make something unique at the beginning of a production. Throwing a ring mod on the 2 mix can cause clients to go into shellshock IME. I also own a 6-pedal-hareware version of some of these. So I’m a mooger hardware fan. Some aren’t. For sub $20 prices... I’d at least run demos if I were you and check em.

  39. I should have stated that the small size had nothing to do with build quality. I saw the stand it sits on, placed it on the counter and started playing with the buttons and it never moved. First thing I thought was nice. That stand is well designed. In the back of the stand it has a screw hole, so I have assumed that there is another type stand to hold more of them together? I am liking this purchase so far, let me be clear about that. Looking forward to digging into this little box!!

  40. Wait until you hear it in action Grem. Oh, I though about the small size of the controller when you said you purchased it, but I thought you should have the same experience as the rest of use when we first received the shipped box. Wow, that's small!! 🤣

  41. Not necessarily re-writing the whole thing, as the SONAR Mac prototype from ~2016 proved, but there still would have needed to be a significant amount of work involved in order to have true parity between OS versions. Next is being built from the ground up as a cross platform app.

  44. I've edited my post to reflect that they are good people according to others on here, and that I have no personal experience with them to agree or disagree with this statement. I noticed that too, and it seems to add evidence to the first quoted statement of this post. Agree. When Dear Reality (semi) parted ways with PA, they offered a free licence transfer (as someone here already mentioned). DR later released a reverb, and a distortion effect. In truth, I have 'need' for neither as I already have plenty of plugins in those categories. But they seemed cool, and I thought they sounded pretty good. So I bought a copy of them both. I also don't know what the admin fee is about. I bought several library from Time+Space. When they packed up, it meant I could no longer (re)download any of my purchases. But, every single company that I contacted (so far) with proof added me as a customer free of charge, regardless of whether I used a T+S voucher or not. That includes developers that very rarely/never go on sale, and developers that prioritise their own store much more over reseller purchases. I bought GP with a voucher from PA. I didn't particularly need it. I bought it because of a combination of hearing good things about it, having nothing else I wanted from PA at the time, and my PA voucher expiring soon. Had Deskew accepted the purchase, I probably would have paid for the next upgrade even though I hardly use it. But they chose not to. And as I don't really use it, I don't think I'll crossgrade or upgrade. And their sentiments seem to indicate that we'll both be ok that decision.

  45. That's why Kontakt rules over others. It's easy to move libraries. That's Sampletanks biggest weakness.
