Is there any truth in the rumours Francisco Partners are considering a move for @cclarry?5 points

This. As a "lifer" the sell to Bandlab was the best possible outcome. Thrilled about where we landed.4 points

People also tend to be surprised (with the real amp, and the virtual equivalent) of the clean headroom in the rectifiers too. But I love the non-rectos in this collection quite a lot, I'd say I prefer those overall for myself too.4 points

We do not limit the number of times you can download within the 180 days. Sorry for the boldface text but I needed to counter boldface misinformation. Our support team also understands when bad things happen to those who have done their best to back up as recommended. Similar to how some companies with time or frequency limits will consider cases made to them when such bad things happen and/or the use case mentioned by Fleer above.3 points

I would like to recommend to anyone who hasn't upgraded their FreeFX Bundle that they snap this up. Especially if you can do it in conjunction with the other first-timer discounts. If it's your first purchase with Meldaproduction, there are 2 ways to get extra savings: while you're setting up your account, sign up for their newsletter, which gets you 10 euros to spend any way you like. When you make your purchase, use my referral code, MELDA1923165, which will knock another 10% off the order (I'll also get credits for 10% of your order). These discounts also apply to any other first order from them. Since the FreeFX Bundle upgrade is now going for 20 euro, this scheme would make your eventual cost 9 euro, or $10.73. There are 37 plug-ins in the bundle. If you have the FreeFX Bundle, the upgrade lets you use the plug-ins' preset manager (and download community presets), scale the UI, use upsampling, and access the multiparameters and custom modulators screens for plug-ins that have them. The plug-ins in the bundle that I use often, and which I believe to be at the top of their class at any price, include MTuner, MEQualizer, MCompressor, MStereoscope, MLoudnessanalyzer, and MMetronome. If the tuner by itself cost 9 euros it would be a must have. It's polyphonic and has a pitch-to-MIDI convertor. I also use MOscillator and MNoisegenerator when I need such utilities for testing. Many of the rest also see occasional use.3 points

I have some bad music software news. What, one of the companies we depend on the most issued a business-speak press release with terms like "streamlined experience" and "more cohesive audio ecosystem"? No, that's not it. That's a relief, what then? TWO of the companies we depend on the most issued such a press release. Oh noooo (at least the Francisco press release doesn't contain the word "synergy")3 points

I have a degausser too. I'll try it on my HDD. If I'm not back in 5 minutes you'll know it worked. Maybe I should think this through a little more. 🤪3 points

Remember when they just had one deal at a time? And then they had two deals at a time? The next time I looked, they had EIGHT deals going. I could usually resist GAS with one or two deals. Sometime they were selling something I already had or didn't want, so I could sigh a sigh of relief for a week or two. That money was safely set aside to be spent on something from Plugin Boutique or somewhere else. But it's much harder for me not to spend $$$ with 8 deals going all the time. Particularly when they are around $10. Ten bucks is the price point for me to buy something I really don't need. How do you deal with so many deals from Audio Plugin Deals?2 points

We'd need a moderator for that, since Terry is the author. But a good idea 👍2 points

Maybe we should better change the name of the thread and include Terry’s user name?2 points

@Josh Wolfer / @marled - thanks for the report. We've reproduced this issue and have a fix for the next release.2 points

Toontrack made the SD2->SD3 upgrade a limited time thing (and it never returned as far as I can remember). Their products are very good but that seemed user-unfriendly. You can still crossgrade EZD2->SD3; hope that goes on sale for you sometime.2 points

If, and when, you can, you definitely want the upgrade to Superior Drummer 3. It's like EZ Drummer combined with Superior Drummer, and far, well, SUPERIOR!2 points

I literally just used this while mixing last night. It's very useful and a steal of a deal and he is actively working on it. It could be a little more efficient. It seems to be slow opening, but I just use it to double check L/R balances and for checking if a plugin in my chain is really doing anything useful other than just turning up the volume. Good plugin!2 points

Poor Bapu. Because of his dodgy hearing he has spent all these years not realising that what he was actually offered were farm labouring opportunities to dye a sheep and haul some oats.2 points

Note that luftrum thor is included in the ambient refill collection. So no need to download both.2 points

More seriously, here's hoping for the best. Their development styles and offerings seem really different but I suppose that means less redundancy... hoping everyone keeps their job and they don't try to merge products together where they don't fit.2 points

Right now Orangetree's Evolution Acoustic Bundle is on sale for $ 1,253 789 USD. This is 37% off. Is this the normal bundle selling price or is this "special"? I see they often have BF sales, end-of-year sales, and maybe a summer group buy. I guess my question to the group is: if I don't need this RIGHT NOW, is it still a good time to get this bundle? I've been looking for very good mandolin and banjo instruments. Thanks all!2 points

It might be related to the survey they sent out earlier in the year, asking how they can improve as a business. My tip: if a deal doesn't immediately trigger a GAS impulse, delete the email and try to not think about it for much longer. Slightly more serious tip: if it does trigger a GAS impulse, put it down in a spreadsheet along with the price. Wait for the last few days of the deal - the GAS might wane by then, or the cumulative cost of other things on the list might dissuade you.2 points

Nice - what a vocal you have - always a pleasure to listen to. I really liked the orchestral background in the song. I enjoyed the lyrics as well - good job there.1 point

I usually just take a look at close to the end of the month (check for deal end dates) or the first day of the month to see what are the options sub $10 to grab the freebie. Starting to get close to redundency or having to resort to buying the cheap Kontakt instruments (that I can't use due to never investing in full Kontakt). I'm really suprised PB hasn't put a lot of other plugin shops out of business. The free deals and cheap options to captalize on those deals have been fantastic. Is it April yet? I already got the March deal. 😆1 point

There was a big shootout of LA-2A compressors, plugins, including UAD, and hardware. CA-2A was of of the best. Not sure if the site with this test is still online.1 point

Only thing I own is Studio Grand, and it's not even installed...so glad you guys are here to tell what else has been updated!1 point

Gibson still owns CA-2A. They did not give up their rights to the product when they shut down Cakewalk. They could start selling the product again, if they wanted to do so. There is no legitimate way to acquire new licenses or share licenses for CA-2A, SONAR or any products made by Cakewalk. unless Gibson allows it. BandLab purchased the source code for Cakewalk products from Gibson and could use it to create their version of CA-2A just like they did with SONAR.1 point

Hey thanks Douglas -- yeah, way back in the way back when I attended Acme College of Demo Knowledge, I majored in no-autotune...and the like...and minored in snappy snare sound. So, good catch on your part... :) --Allan.1 point
