  8. It was just well-timed, I can neither confirm nor deny that the "There are no accidents" meme did or did not apply to said timing

  9. I think it's funny how our "perceptions" have changed. A few years ago we would never have scoffed at a $149 price, or even the retail price that is 60% higher... but now, in the advent of the $29 plugin, and others that are completely dirt cheap, or FREE, $149 is now ASTRONOMICALLY priced! Just had to point that out LOL!

  10. THAT is exactly WHY these are cheap! They are clearing them out!

  12. You only have to be online once every six months to escape falling into demo mode IIRC. Also, as from the last 2020.05 version, you can use off-line authorization using a USB flash drive and a separate internet connected computer.

  13. When you install it asks you: VST, VST3, AAX. You must install the VST3 version, and you must use the VST3 version.

  17. Yes, something like the NKS sound preview would be a big improvement. I have about half of this already but 9 times out of 10 I go with Arturia, GForce of Korg Legacy synths.

  20. Not sure about your problem, but I did not encounter any dropouts in W10 until the 2020.5 update, now I get them all the time. I am going to try reverting back to a previous version of CW. UPDATE: I started with 2020.5, reverted to 2020.4 and did not notice a difference. I then reverted again to 2020.1. The dropouts "dropped" dramatically from 1 every 5-10 minutes, to 1 every 1-2 hours. I had made no changes to any settings between versions. Using the same midi tracks with one empty audio track. Sometimes I would play the project, but the dropout toast would pop up even if it was totally idle and I was on a different window, like a web browser. The toast numbers I got were 0, 1, and 3. For now, I will stay at 2020.1, at least I can function without getting annoyed.

  22. It says at the bottom of the KVR Email But that may be just for those who purchase on of the TH-U Editions, like Rock etc, but it may also include other upgrades. You could also purchase one of the TH-U Editions, like Rock for $39US, and then see what the upgrades next month bring, maybe worth a shot to you. I got rid of all my TH-U stuff a while back, it was TH-U Full with TH2 Full, TH3 Full and about 8 TH-U Rig packs, if I had known you could have had that for free

  23. When I track, on my desktop, which uses a Yamaha Steinberg UR22 audio interface, or my Presonus Audiobox 1818 VSL, I have my ASIO Buffer Size set to 128 samples, and for mixing, I change it to 2048 samples. For my laptop, which has a Thunderbolt 3 port, and I have a UAD Arrow Thunderbolt 3 audio interface, I track at 32 samples, and mix at either 1024 or 2048 samples, Bob Bone

  24. There is no "best" value. Try different buffer sizes and see which value works best for you and your workflow. For my particular workflow, mine is set to 256 samples.

  25. Ya, I came up with the $420 price somewhere too. Now I can't remember where.

  26. It is not only that, Larry... The problem is GAS which is pushing us to buy more and more plugins... So after spending 10 x $29 for 10 plugins with cool price we have less $290 in wallet... If we were buying less frequently I would grab it happy for nice price... But after spending for some plugins in the same time not beeing sure how my job will evolve this year because of corona armageddon it is different story... Not mentioning I grabbed Melodyn5 upgrade (not time yet to play more than just several minutes) and EZbass, now beeing tempted by AA... I have no doubt if plugin is doing what demo shows it is worth the price easily and many others but...

  27. Other issue is, if you do this, you lose your Cubase license. They you are stuck paying for Nuendo upgrades which are generally higher than Cubase ones.
    1 point
  28. familiarity mainly - I've been with Cubase since the Atari days (and pro24 before that) - but despite SB saying that cubase/nuendo were in step, cubase still has new features first. Nuendo 10.3 is just out which brings the Cubase 10.5 features to Nuendo several months after cubase. To be fair though, it was a free update. It's fairly rare I need the extra features of nuendo (Very rare indeed!) - also I have 2 cubase licences but 1 nuendo so it's more likely I'll be sat at a PC with a cubase licence. If it's more cost effective to buy Nuendo then Id go for it....but it wouldn't be surprising if we saw a Cubase update sale in the next few months. It's fairly insane that you have to give up your cubase licence when you upgrade to nuendo...can't see why they don't let you use both ...it's only one licence on one dongle.

  30. Well... if it was just $50 I would consider buying. Just consider... not buying probably. But see what I got when put that in cart: Items: $4.99 Shipping: $36.06 Handling: $8.00 Duty: $32.42 VAT (Tax): $17.88 Order Total: $99.35 Even if I lived in a Mars colony I would think this would be an abusive shipping price! 😀

  31. These are awesome. Upgraded to WG2 and 7CG2 and love them. I also love Embertone's 1955 Walker D (lite), which is quite cheap, but these must be the best value sampled piano libraries on the market.

  32. I know it's relatively cheap, but when you watch the demos and see how the whole thing bends when being played it is a real turn off for me. To be fair they are not alone in this - most midi controllers feel like cheap toys to me. It also surprises me that virtually nobody goes beyond the 61 keys as many VST instruments stretch out further than that by the time keyswitches and stuff are included. It can't be just me that would willingly pay more for a decent quality 73 or 76 key version, or can it?

  33. Generally speaking, first install Cakewalk, and then go back for the extras. It seems to give less problems that way. Melodyne is a 30-day free trial, so rather wait until you are ready to experiment with it, and don't waste your trial time.

  36. Excellent! Bought. And if you purchase this month they throw in a free "EDM Mega Pack 1" (normally $47 or so they claim) which has around 10GB of... stuff. Samples, loops, 'construction kits'(?), 'drops', FL Studio templates, presets for synths I don't have (Serum, etc.), and a host of other stuff I'll never use. But hey... free sh*t!

  38. I use the Multiband Compressor for bass, but often not set for compression. Think of it as a supremely flexible graphic equalizer. However, if you have problems with resonances or dead spots, you'll need a parametric. I wrote an article for Sound on Sound magazine about recording bass with Sonar, it's still relevant because it uses mostly Sonitus effects. There's also an in-depth description of how to use the Sonitus Multiband as a high-performance graphic equalizer on page 112 of The Huge book of Cakewalk by BandLab Tips.

  39. There might be a bit of a learning curve related to default keybindings that have been altered or disabled (e.g. 'O' to toggle Envelope/Offset mode), and changes in modifier keys and hotspots to get different tool behaviors, and features that didn't exist previously like Ripple Edit and Workspaces. In particular, I recommend setting Workspaces to 'None' in the upper right corner of the UI until and unless you decide to use them.

  41. I guys, this is my first post on the BandLab's CakeWalk forum. I did post a few times on the old Roland/Gibson' CakeWalk forum, but after the Gibson fiasco, I lost interest in Sonar and started to use other DAWs. However, I've kept coming back to this "Deal" sub-forum as I've always found it very up-to-date with the latest bargains. I want to thank Robert Bone for this great deal for Windows 10 Pro, and also tell you how I got the absolute best price for us Canadian users (this may also work for non US-based users) After going to the PC World page which advertise the Windows 10 Pro, follow the link to the CleverBridge W10 Pro page and from the top right of the page, change the currency from CAD/Canadian ( 69.99 CAD charged by CleverBridge!!!) to USD (39.99USD or ~ 54$ CAD charged by most Canadian banks, including PayPal). Then instead of clicking "buy now", look at the top left of the page and switch to "Microsoft" to browse for other Microsoft products that CleverBridge sells. You will see a link to buy Windows 10 Home, click on it and then click "Buy Now", you will then be given a choice to continue buying W10 Home or to buy the "upgrade" to W10 Pro for 34.99 USD. Select to upgrade to W10 Pro, continue the buying process, and that's it; you now have a full retail version of Windows 10 PRO for 34.99USD or ~49 $ Canadian Dollars (That's what PayPal charged me). That's ~ 20$ CAD saving compared to what ClerverBridge is charging by default. Note: You will be able to use this "upgrade" trick only once. If ever you want more copies of W10 Pro, CleverBridge will "remember" you and will not offer you to "upgrade" from W10 Home to W10 Pro so if you want more than 1 copy of W10Pro at 34.99 USD, you will have to do it the very first time you buy from CleverBridge. Hopes this help. Again, thanks for Robert Bone and all the others who have contributed to this thread. Also, a huge thanks to cclarry for all his great work on this "Deal" sub-forum :) Chuck

  42. Depends what language you like writing in... As an aside, a .NET Core app will run in both Windows and Linux. You can't use WPF for UIs and expect them to run on Linux though; maybe a cross platform library like Qt, though they just don't 'feel' quite right.

  43. With respect, there may be 30 people struggling to install, but there are 3 million who had no problems. If you look at the posts where people eventually succeeded it is almost always a) not installing BandLab Assistant as administrator b) a missing Visual C++ redistributable c) downloading the addons at the same time as the app d) a missing dll. The first is human error, the others are Windows problems. Windows is the source of many, many problems.

  45. A limiter is also a compressor. It is most often found on the master bus.

  46. I think all Cakewalk users here want everyone to have a great time using it. I believe it to be a huge bargain that keeps on getting better with each new version. This also means that it is more complicated thus needing a group effort to get users working with it efficiently. These forums are known for being very helpful.
