  1. I'm sure most of the power users here know about this, but for those who don't, here's a way of using any VST as if it was a ProChannel module. Here's how I put my Scheps-73 in the ProChannel: An here's a demo on how quick it is to do it: Obviously it's got it's limitations: You're limited to 6 buttons & 6 knobs You only see percentages on the knob display as you turn it, not the actual value. But it's a convenient way to put your VST anywhere in your ProChannel chain, whilst being able to tweak the most used settings.

  4. There is a transform tool on the PRV where you can adjust the contours of consecutive controller events and velocities to follow the general shape of a bounding rectangle. It would be great if we had a similar tool to change the curves of automation nodes.

  7. I think I may have asked for this before in the previous forum, but I've had more thoughts on it so here goes... I've got loads of unfinished projects, most of which are just 8 - 16 bar sketches. Their names aren't particularly helpful (because they're so unfinished), and going through to review them at a later date is time consuming: i.e. I have to open up each project one by one. I find the browser great, because I can drag a project into an existing one and use the extra tracks right away. Nine times out of ten however, I've forgotten what each project sounds like. What I'd really like is to be able to play a preview of them within the browser. My thoughts are: Within the "Save As" dialog, two new options would be available: A "Save Project Preview" checkbox A "Preview Length (secs)" edit box (perhaps with an additional "whole project" checkbox) The idea would be that if you chose to save a project preview, it would use the new export module to generate a export of your mix based on the options above, which would be stored inside the cwp file. This could default to mp3 to keep cwp files smaller, but perhaps an option to make it a wav might be desirable. Selecting a project within the browser and clicking play (or CTRL+SPACE) would play that preview. If the default preview length was small, e.g. 10 to 15 seconds, it would minimise the extra time required to save a project, whilst presenting a reasonable amount of audio to identify it.

  8. I think we really need new sampler to use it in Cakewalk. In world of free software I really like TX16WX which can be used not as a sample player but really as a sampler. https://www.tx16wx.com/ - link to TX16WX. This is a great free sampler which main task is to make samples, not to work with libraries, etc. It can be used with everything. I use it nowadays for drums which I like to play on midi pads at home. We had Session Drummer which really needs to be updated. I think modern music needs samplers with MPC workflow. On other hand we have Addictive Drums/Session Drummer for those who need real acoustic drums. We also had old plugins for this task. But nowadays do we really need to buy NI Battery? S1 users have a great Impact Drum Module and Ableton Live users can use Drum rack or Impulse drum sampler. I think Cakewalk needs its own thing to use.

  9. Hey again! I am not missing any important features on CBB and it is a great DAW in its current form but I think that a new feature in the vein of the Studio One or Cubase chord tracks could be very well received for some of us. Thank you!

  10. Cakewalk is great for musical purposes, but I'm trying to use cakewalk to edit sounds for a game and I find it strange that I a) Can't stretch audio and have the pitch go down proportionally (none of this elastique or any other complicated pitch calculating algorithm - just simply slowing down the playback speed of the audio and letting the pitch go down with it as if slowing down a record or a tape) b) Have no way to perform a sliding time/pitch scale adjustment on an audio clip e.g. performing the above adjustment to a sweep from 1000-10000Hz to make it all play at the speed required to get 1000Hz throughout. Basically defining for a clip a start speed and an end speed in percent. I think these would be useful features.

  13. Here's a link to something I worked on "a while ago" Wanted to post this to Noel's thread for Cakewalk by Bandlab efforts, but truth is this was done (I think) in Cakewalk Pro Audio version. The audio tracks were done on cassette and synched through midi to instruments to Cakewalk (Tascam Midi Studio 688). Tried to have a bit of fun re-mastering it all with Ozone 8 and other new tools now available. Let me know if you think it sounds too cassette ? I'm thinking of re-recording it all, so I guess this is just the demo . . . If I can only get those guitar fingers working the same way again ?

  14. 1. A quicker way to toggle between view types instead of going into menus. Some sort of hotkey to do the following ( without the need to set up your own key bindings ) so these would be a button on the console itself. - Toggle between wide & narrow strips ( also add a super skinny channel view ) - Toggle between tracks & busses - Toggle between hidden / not hidden - Cycle through various track heights..i.e. full- medium - compact - Open all active Pro Channels 2. The mini EQ plot would be more useable if you could activate the HP & LP filters from it ( like in the old per channel EQ in Sonar 8.5 etc ) 3. Improved contrast between on / off states for plugins ..i.e. not both grey. 4. Please can we put a plugin on the main output 5. Option to hide the channel / buss numbers and letters labels - Happy to use my own labels and nothing else 6 - Also I like the bus colours but the option for CBB to just do it automatically would be great

But thanks to the many valuable contributions of this amazing community over the years, the forums will remain in place as a vital information resource for legacy Cakewalk products. Most importantly, we have a vibrant new home for Cakewalk by BandLab to better serve the community! Please join us at discuss.cakewalk.com.

  17. Reminds me of a cross between Jude Cole and Wishbone Ash. Loved every bit of it. I can't believe the quality of some of the songs I'm hearing in this forum today. Maybe I should just quit.

  19. To heal splits, you can swipe through an entire take lane, starting outside the longest running clip with the Comp tool in the lower half of the lane; usually that means swiping from right to left, and swiping past 1:01:000 to avoid creating a new split where you start or end the swipe. Or you can select the track or any lane in it and Ctrl+click any selected segment with the Comp tool. Both methods will heal all splits in all takes. To heal a single split just select any two adjacent clips, and Ctrl-click one of them with the Comp tool.

  20. Beautiful looking instrument. I'm not sure if it would be loud enough to play in anything but a small gathering though with the strings laying on top like that instead of inside a sound chamber where it would be amplified much more. Have you heard one up close?

  24. I am having trouble exporting this song's buses into Bandlab because of the 6 minute limit; this song is 7 minutes long, having a limit of 15 mins would be nice for people like myself who likes to make long songs. Moreover, the 12-track limit is pretty restricting, please increase it to something like 16. Thank you for listening.

  25. You can easily keep settings, like program and control change, and the actual music in separate clips and then shuffle clips between projects by copy/paste or drag'n'drop. The other way is to keep your synth settings in separate clips on different tracks and use archive/un-archive track.

  26. Yes. Just open both projects at the same time, Ctrl-A to select the entire timeline in the 'home' project, Edit > Copy Special, check only Tempo Changes, and paste into the church project.

  29. Yes templates save the record mode. If you're just doing Ctrl+N to start a new project, and you haven't set a different template as the default, then CbB will be using the Normal.cwt template. You can either change the record mode and immediately re-save the new project as Normal.cwt, or save it as a another template name and set that as the default for new projects (click the star icon in upper left corner of the template under the New Project section of the Start Screen).

  30. Hi James, You should be able to set "sound on sound" as your default in the preferences section (P). Also, as far as I know, project templates will hold your settings as well. what I would do is get all of the settings you typically change before getting started, make the changes then save the template (as your normal template). That way, you can just start right up! 😁

  31. Agree with Victor Borge, great humour. I heard he started joking to ease off nervousity from his concerts. When he noticed that worked, the joking part became bigger than the musical part. This is another favorite from my childhood. It was sent on swedish television, so we recorded it on VHS. I looked at this hilarious concert many times:

  32. I have found that unplugging my audio interface sometimes lets my DAW exit completely following a crash caused by a bad plugin. I assume that is because my audio driver gets hung up when the DAW goes "poof", and isn't shut down clean. Resetting the interface seems to allow the process to exit fully. Good to go again without rebooting the machine.

  36. Fist time I saw Clapton I was thinking there was no way this guy is gonna live up to all the hype I have heard and read about him. When he played 'Wonderful Tonight' the hair on the back of my neck was standing on end. I leaned over about halfway through the song and told my wife about the hair on my neck, she turned and looked at me with a surprised look and said, "Mine too!" Never felt that before in my life. Nor since.

  42. My own "experience" with Bandlab was when I first heard of it after taking over Cakewalk/Sonar. I created and account and looked around the system in hopes of finding options for online collaboration. What I found instead was a lot of "rap" that was Not Good. It isn't a genre issue for me - it's that it just wasn't done well at all. Getting a loop and talking over it doesn't make rap or hip hop or anything else. There is plenty of quality music out there that I don't like, but at least can recognise the quality. In the case of nearly everything I heard on Bandlab, I was left shaking my head. What I was hoping for was something more like the old collaboration forums I used to participate in, which were well organized, showing what people needed for their tunes, selecting musicians, exchanging mixes and parts, and assembling songs from ideas. What I found instead was what has been described in this thread: a bunch of people posting their music for others to listen to and others copping it and laying stuff on top of it that didn't seem to have any reason to be combined with it. Maybe I didn't give it a chance. That all said, I am always interested in participating in other people's music. I play drums and can lay down some quality sounding pop/rock/some progressive tracks if anyone happens to need that.

  43. I'd like the option put the bus with it's tracks. I.e. the drum buss with the drum tracks. The Brass buss with the brass tracks.

  44. I was testing it out and found out that there is a some people taking your track and "rap" swearwords all over the track. I guess you can block them, but then it gets a job on its own, just to block and restrict who to collaborate with. But if you find people you trust, and they are musically aligned to you, then I think it’s a great idea to work there.
