  2. This is a first mix that, after having posted, noticed some manic piano towards the end. Please ignore that. I'm looking for feedback on the mix and overall sound, plus anything else you want to point out. Thank you! Update: The link now points to mix 2. I've actually punched up the arrangements some and I think it's a better mix but I'm thinking I'm too aggressive on the master bus because to me the dynamics have suffered some in places. Feedback is welcome. Update: Mix 3 is now posted. Thanks for your help!

  3. I wish that all those who have nothing to add to the conversation, and are just "stirring the pot", or just "listening to the sound of their own voice"; would keep it "downstairs" where it belongs. IF, on the other hand, you are looking for information on Sonar, go to Noel's page and click on "see their activity." That is where you will find all the information that is "known" to date. That's the "wheat", all the whining and "hand wringing" is the "chaff"... t

  4. Hi folks This one is out and out punk pop fun - Ed and me threw it together in a couple of days all told. Had a lot of fun with this one The current Mrs Daryl1968 makes a brief appearance on this one Lyrics below link Nits and crits welcome No Imagination Written and performed by Ed Kocol and Daryl Greenway With backing vocals by Liz Greenway Verse 1: Always been a simple man Doing right, the best I can Eat, sleep, work. Well, that's the plan Never gone beyond a white work van Prech Fancy cars are not my style I'll never walk the miracle mile I've aways been a simple guy and I guess that's why that I've stopped tryin Chorus: No imagination Happy with my station All I wanna do Is share my love with you It's been my foundation no imagination All I wanna do Is share my love with you Verse 2 Always been a simple soul, Day by day I play my role. From dawn to dusk, I toil and strive, In that white van I come alive. Prech Chorus Bridge: I don't have to think at all Never been against the wall My world changed because of you I'm gonna see this through with you, with you Chorus

  5. also, when you get an email "we've encountered a problem with your account, click here to correct the problem" and other fun phishing content, always, as in ALWAYS NEVER click on the link, and certainly NEVER click on a box that says "Click Here, it's safe" etc. (web page, PDF, etc etc) as it runs a script under your account and then your system is owned. basic web sercurity for the past, oh, 30 years or so... if you get a message - go to your bookmarks and open the link directly yourself. and then, when the site opens, alway look at the address before doing any other steps. and yeah, paypal is one of the better places - in addition to a single well protected storage and login (esp if you use multi-factor authentication for every transaction) they have one of the best remediation processes to refute payments made to people and businesses who do the wrong thing. also, make sure whatever CC you use has a $50 liability limit. so if your debit card does not have that, DO NOT USE IT. most times, if someone is re-using your card (like when you went to the gas station, restuarant, shopping, etc) when you file a complaint, most of the better CC companies don't even bother with the $50. but you want to know at the very least this is in your CC policy...

  8. You Might want to try demo versions of other daws and see what works for you. I have been using Cakewalk for so long I have no desire to change. Being new to music production, you Probably don't have a work flow established. Try a variety of things before investing in a daw.

  12. Polaris has both sample and synth engines and offers a groovebox-style workflow across six tracks. The 4x4 grid on each track enables you to input steps into the sequencer, and step modulation gives you an easy way of adding variation to your patterns. You can also adjust the step duration on a per-track basis (from 1/32 to one bar) and set the triggering conditions so that each step doesn’t sound every time. https://www.musicradar.com/news/polaris-android-music-making-app

  13. Yeah. This is essentially not a deal since most of those plugins have been available for $29.99 or below. Now, even with the voucher, most plugins are more expensive than that. Basically, whole thing makes no sense whatsoever.

  14. @donaldpritchett in the 6 years that Bandlab have owned the IP of the software, they have done more with the software than either Roland or Gibson ever did and Bandlab did it for free, unlike those previous owners. The original flagship version SONAR Platinum, came with several synths, Dimension Pro, Rapture, Z3ta +, Session Drummer 3, SI-Intruments, Applied Acoustics (AAS) Strum and Lounge Lizard, Overloud's Cakewalk addition of TH3, and Melodyne essentials full licence. Along with the Nomad Factory suit of FX. Plus the Sonitus FX suite. This cost around $450.00 to buy new. There were a number of additional Pro Channel modules you could purchase. Three other FX, two mastering ones, a Linear Phase EQ and Linear Phase Multiband compressor along with an Adaptive EQ. Who knows what the new Bandlab Sonar version will come with, I suspect we will be pleasantly surprised, we just have to be patient.

  17. Hello , years ago .. I watched a documentary about giant river fish in India. They highlighted the creamation of a local woman on the banks of the Ganges river. This had a profound effect on me .. and knowing why it was included in the giant fish show, it had even more impact. This is only about a moment in time and her passing. This song was started in Sonar 8.5 and just now brought to completion in CbB. All comments, crits and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks for the listen .. mark - Final mix - Special "thanks" to Gary Brun for the excellent mastering .. https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14761020

  21. I DO NOT have any rights to this composition. Back in 2019 when I was teaching Composition, Editing, and Engineering to an online Zoom channel, I made up this little example as an ear training tool for my students. The piece has three turnarounds of the phrase, one is done live on my 1974 Alvarez 5063, and the other two are done with the Indiginus Renegade and NI Picked Acoustic (melody). I tried very hard to get the Vi's to sound 'real'... and it was tricky.

  25. I Know I had someone in mine when I wrote this, but it was so long ago (2017) that I wrote it, that I'm not sure who the song was about. I know a few. people that fit the bill. I didn't hate the person, like the song may indicate. I was just making an observation that gave me a subject to write about. I also took. an attitude from a song lyric that I have liked since I was a kid. 29. You really don't need to worry about the limited number of virtual instruments as there are hundreds available for free on the web - many very, very good ones that give some paid ones a run for their money! There are threads in the Instruments & Effects forum which list many of the free VSTs

  33. I loved it - the attitude, tone, harmonies, hand claps and a modulation that works. It made me think of a video I found yesterday. It was of John and Yoko and a bunch of kids looking at the construction of a new house they were going to buy in the country near the water. This song would perfectly fit the mood of that video I think - at least I can see it all coming together in my head!

  34. Does music theory really kill creativity? one word answer. NO We wouldn't have had Beethoven, Shostakovitch, Dvorak, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, Respighi, and so many others who created some of the best music that has ever graced this planet.

  35. They've owned it since April 2018. Forward What Cubase users own ZERO third party plugs? Really? Demo Cubase, if you like it, its on sale at 30% off $405.99. (reg $579.99) Pretty much Cubase updates about every 18 months, currently the upgrade 12>13 is $69.99 (again 30% off, reg $99.99) For me Sonar (which will replace CbB [Cakewlak by Bandlab]) is a no-brainer at $14.99 a month. (this is BandLab's Backstage Pass "package" that includes access to Sonar) see here for details Membership Once pricing is sorted I will undoubtedly "purchase" Sonar... (as we all know, you never really "own" software, just a license to use it....) t Best advice: Use CbB until pricing on Sonar is sorted, as Dave said above, demo a bunch of DAW's; what have you got to lose?

But once I registered and signed in, the link worked even though the page had been taken down. I should probably actually get around to installing it I guess 🤣

  37. https://www.eventideaudio.com/pedals/h90 Eventide Audio has announced a software update for its multi-fx effects pedal. Version 1.8.5 of the H90 Harmonizer software comes with two new algorithms. Aggravate is an octave fuzz inspired by famous classic analog octave fuzzes from the ’70s. Satisfy all your fuzz needs with its versatile controls, rich feature set and most importantly, its chewy tone makes playing through it addicting! Sticky Tape is a new tape algorithm based on the same emulation technology as the H90-exclusive, Head Space. It opens up a world of tape tone possibilities – all the character, grit, and modulation of those classic reel-to-reel tape machines without the bother. Additionally, the update includes various new features such as Force Mono and Search by Favorites, along with performance enhancements and bug fixes. A free update for existing owners, new customers can purchase the H90 Harmonizer for $899 USD.
