  1. I've pushed a fix for this issue, but I can't give any time-frame as to when an update with the fix will be available (hopefully soon, but it's not my call). In the meantime, the old Insert->Soft Synth synth dialog will allow you to pick this option.

  2. I regularly use Nova's SmartOps as a starting place to find resonances. Lately I have been liking it better than MAutoDynamicEQ for this purpose. (I usually try them both.) It can do other things too, like eq matching and the pink noise spectrum flattening thing. AND the UI on Nova is second to none IMHO, although I'm not crazy about how the SmartOps thing was implemented. Do yourself a favor and watch a Dan Worrall video on it. It's an awesome and crazy affordable plugin with these sales.

  4. @T Boog Melodyne is to me the best upgrade to Cakewalk beyond anything else. Pitch correction is just one of many ways it can edit and clean up and audio track. Especially once you get to the top 2 versions that can edit chords. Have you ever accidentally hit a wrong string in the middle of an otherwise perfect take? No problem. Just highlight the bad chord, open Melodyne and move or delete the offending note. And fixing the timing of things like harmonies. And you can use the levelling tool to make every word the same volume.

  5. Melodyne working fine for me as well. something to check - when you find a number of plugins misbehaving - re-run the redistributables for Cakewalk this happens to be the cure for when Microsoft Edge and several other companies are busy making your user experience better and embedding all the AI-wares to make sure every keystroke is a lead to a possible solution to the meaning of life, the universe, and everything...

  6. Hi folks. I've just installed cakewalk and had a very quick glance at a few things. So generous that they've given it all away for free. And when i got activated just because i signed in well that made me feel very humble and proud. I somehow feel i know already i'm in the right place with the right software. A few days ago i got a tip from Deyquan Bowens to have a look at John Colliers audience choir plugin. I had no idea how to use it but eventually plugged my Midi keyboard in and got it going - blew my mind. This was only 3 days ago. That night i downloaded everything else free from Kontakt and realised i needed some kind of recorder, so i Googled that and watched Benn Jordans video "so you want a free DAW" - he recommended Cakewalk which i've just installed. I play a bit of guitar and have rigged up a cheap Casio keyboard to my laptop and everything works. I hardly know any chords on the kb lol - but who cares I've never been so happy. The good feeling i got today after installing Cakewalk has made me decide that i will buy the latest version. I'm a singer/songwriter. I realise it'll take a few weeks and months to get things set up properly but i really do feel my journey has begun. Thanks to all the people i mentioned, native Instruments and Cakewalk. This is beautiful.

  10. New sunday, new jam! A sidestep from the rough techno from last week, I decided to get back to a bit more melodic and full arrangement. Forgot I had some drums 'in the bag' I added just at the very end haha. Its weird how you can scroll through endless presets on your softsynths and not finding anything that fits well together, and somehow hardware does that automatically. Or I could be imagining it to justify my purchases šŸ˜…

  11. @ralfrobert Previous sfx / loop packs on humble bundle have been zipped folders of single sound files. You would have to download the whole pack to get the single sound out.

  12. The short answer is: probably nothing that you actually need. The slightly longer answer is: the dynamic EQ part isn't better than Kirchhoff or even Pro-Q, but it does have a section called "Smart Ops" where you can import a file and tell Nova to try to match the EQ curve and dynamics or whatever. I think you can also do other things, but I haven't really bothered to investigate much. I always figure if any feature of any product is really great, I will hear about it somewhere because I follow a few music related forums and what not. I haven't see too many people rave about the Smart Ops thing, so I figured it's likely not worth my time.

  13. Hear hear! I'm currently doing a song that has 24 tracks of vocals... so far. (Everything is double tracked.) Getting that tightened up in both pitch and timing would be well-nigh impossible without Melodyne Studio. Other than having much better singers and making them do take after take until they get it right, which isn't feasible for a whole host of reasons!

  17. Here is my latest track, https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/xlsx/call-me-back All mixed and mastered in Cakewalk but with all third party plugins. My workflow is so much quicker in Cakewalk now as I have a really good track template set up with everything I need, and have created a lot of FX chains for things I commonly use. For this song I wanted to create a nice fun short one, that is heavily influenced by the bitter tongue in cheek breakup songs on Brand New's debut album 'Your favourite weapon' which was one of my favourites back when I was a teenager. I would welcome any feedback and would be really grateful for a follow if you enjoy it.

  19. I bought MixBox a few days ago and this is what I got. I hope this clears the confusion: I loaded all the Sunset modules and also showing you I have the Sunset presets. So the only major features that are missing are Studio 2 and 3 since these are all Studio 1.

  20. https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/track/the-time-is-magic from the new album, this is the title track. it's meant to just introduce the listener to the beginning of the album. it's kind of an instrumental... should effectively get you up out of your chair for a quick boogie, if it's doesn't, contact a neurologist. heheh

  28. That's what some companies assert. But I doubt that they make more profit installing some annoyance for the users. In the contrary, they lose more purchases (e.g. me) than they win. Those bad guys that misuse software surely won't buy their products, if protection is added! So I agree with @Brian Walton that no or an easy (offline) protection is the best for the users (I have a long list of company names that delight and it seems they can survive)! And I prefer such companies in the last 2 years (that increases their purchases! šŸ˜‰). On the other hand I agree with you that iLok is definitely a better/acceptable protection system (compared to online, login protection). Whereas time limited authorization is one of the worst protections (like CbB šŸ˜„), totally user unfriendly IMO. But YMMV!

  29. Welcome to the forum. This is among the most basic operations with MIDI. MIDI is just data. It needs a synthesizer to make sound, in this case the synth is in your keyboard. You should be able to connect headphones to it You can go to Insert at the top and you may be able to select a software synth. I am not exactly sure what ships with Cakewalk anymore. There have been a few changes . Once you have a soft synth, change the output of your piano MIDI track to that soft synth. The soft synth's output should be sent to your sound card. Then you should be able to hear it through the computer. Check out the Tutorials forum here for more basic lessons. Good luck!

  30. and some people can live off the land with no reliance with other sources of food/income - doesn't mean it's a viable model for everyone or even most. Apples/Oranges. That's not really a comment on iLok but on the installer tech (in this case Drum Core's); if their online installer broke and you needed to reinstall - it wouldn't matter if the software was protection free or not you're still SOL.

  31. Wow, perfect timing John! Ur like Cakewalk Superman. I was actually just typing a comment here asking if anyone else had tried their melodyne since the update. I was planning on buying melodyne later today so when I saw this post, I wondered if it might be a bad time to buy. So yeah, Thanks for the good news. Now up, up & away to ur next post šŸ˜

  32. Have you run any diagnostic tests on your system? I had weird stuff happening last year about this time and turned out my C drive was acting up. I ran Samsung Magician app which showed the read and write speed was way down from spec. The drive was a 250 GB Samsung SSD. I bought 2 x 500 GB drives for $50 each and used the Magician app to clone my C and D drives. Man did things perk up! Turns out itā€™s not how full a SSD drive is, itā€™s how many times it was written to. Writing and deleting stuff kills them. So music and video editing is a monster. But after I got stuff running I reformatted those old drives to use as back ups and they are OK again. So win, win. Long shot but just another one of those new things I learned about the care and feeding of a modern day PC. Oh and Melodyne working fine here on latest Cakewalk. Here's a few tools I like to have on hand. https://semiconductor.samsung.com/us/consumer-storage/magician/ Best tool for cloning drives as well as diagnostics https://www.resplendence.com/latencymon Not just the Latency Monitor but also grab Why so SLow https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy Speccy which gives you a total overview of your PC even temperatures.

  38. Exactly. I remember back in 2004 when I first started using Cakewalk and I tried the TTS-1 back then and decided it wasnā€™t for me mostly because the bass and drums didnā€™t sound very good compared to my Korg 05R/W I think the SI instruments were the first new members of my digital band. We often get posts on the forum here from people who are not at all interested in trying other instruments. I think itā€™s just over their heads to work that way. They are used to using midi players. My most viewed Cakewalk Tutorial is the one about the TTS-1 Thereā€™s a bigger fan club than one can imagine. Iā€™m already getting comments from people who are upset. But I just released a second video with info on how to replace it or make sure you will have it available in the future.

  44. They will certainly try to upsell us on something that costs more than $10, like the bundle. If you are not in the ecosystem yet, even a $10-15 isn't a no brainer for everyone as it is iLok based and they use a ecosystem installer. Compressors are a dime a dozen. And while this one might be pretty good, I won't pretend like it is a $150 value. Even at $10 I would have passed. At free I'll at least grab it.

  47. Can confirm no issue with either SEQ3/4 in Studio One Pro 6 v6.5.1
    1 point
  48. The OP is having trouble with Sonible's Smart EQ. Cakewalk's Sonitus fx are a different thing. Smart EQ has a special feature, inter plug-in communication. If you put different instances of it on different tracks, they can talk to each other. That's a more difficult thing for a host to cope with because it's outside the VST2/3 spec. If the Cakewalk devs know there's an issue, they can work with Sonible to get the programs to stay out of each others' way. Testing them with another host like REAPER or Waveform would help eliminate or confirm that the problem is specific to Cakewalk.

  49. Don't try too many Sonible Smart Plugs in your Cakewalk project file ..You won't be able to open it again unless in safe mode. I had to strip all mine out and it was quite a pain staking process of elimination ..The first few plugs are fine, and that leads you into false sense of security then all of a sudden you can't open your project. I still think they are great plugs..I might try them in a wrapper like Metaplugin in Cakewalk or in another DAW like Tracktion

  50. I think i found a way to have ORCHESTOOLS ONE patches work in Sampletank 4 CS plus utilise some of its new features. I have to manualy edit all the single patches though and then try to reconstruct the multis - so it will take some time. On the preset browsere side - I will enter and resave tags and descriptions on each preset. In this way it will be possible to have a similar overview of presets - simmilar to the folder structure of version 3 - meaning you can now more easely isolate and find Orchestools One patches in the version 4 browser. In other words what used to be folders with presets on version 3 will now be lists of presets names and group tags as they appeared on version 3! I will post the links and installlation guide as soon as it is finished, - it will take some time however, sometimes during january i hope!
