  1. I swear to god it's the same "Industry Review" people saying the same shit on every plugin. And how many frickin' producers does Rihanna have? Honestly - there needs to be some kind of pillaging of the shameless testimonials in this industry.

  3. I put 3 guitars in my cart (after logging into my account) and it came to $188 - about $63 per guitar. I think that's very reasonable for these high quality instruments.

  4. Finances always play a part, but plugins have also gotten cheaper. I have slowed down because I honestly don't use a quarter of what I have. I kinda regret biting on IK studio max 3 deal recently. It was cheap but I find myself overwhelmed by volume of total redundancy. How many 1176 emulations do I need? How many pultecs do I need? What is hundreds of gigs of synth plugs that largely overlap the same synths in my Arturia collection gonna add to me making better music? Considering I have an Arturia controller that makes finding sounds far easier than the endless void of Sampletank patches with the same name. I'm not bashing IK. I love IK. Their products have served me well over the years and I think they offer a lot of bang ror the buck. This is just an expression of what happens when you realize how useless it was to add a big bundle of IK on top of the glut on my computer. So much that I realized I didn't install the modo drum 1.5 kits before downloads expired...and didn't care. Practicality is driving me far more than finances.

  5. Upon actually listening to this, HARD PASS. It seems like the typical quantity over quality library with a hundred thin sounding instruments instead of a couple deep sampled ones, trying to make up for it with step sequencing and FX overload. Wasted enough money for stuff that will sit on my backup drive doing nothing anyway.

  7. I wrote this blues and boogie piece for piano a couple years ago, but wanted to re-record it to see if I could do it better. It took me a couple of months to work it up to the speed I really wanted to play it at. I hope you enjoy it! Jeff

  9. Barbie's suddenly quite topical. I read this joke this morning. Here's the short version from memory... Man in toy store asks staff about Barbies. Clerk says "we've got Beach Barbie for $19.95, comes with a beach umbrella and surfboard." At the other end of the price range is Divorced Barbie. It's $395." "Why is Divorced Barbie so much more expensive?" "Well, it comes with Ken's house, Ken's car, Ken's furniture..."

  12. Okay, so I'm thinking... This "lists" for $399. This is 70% off. But who on this forum would ever pay full price, knowing how much they discount everything in time? According to Music Software Deals, the lowest has been is $249 at APD a year ago March. $120 is half that. I think it will turn up for under a hundred some day. I just have to get some good use out of it before then. I know I will. Decision made!

  21. I’ve been using EPIC 7 for what seems a couple months. They typically don’t announce version updates but I’ve noted the version number go slightly higher every several weeks. I guess they feel it’s stable enough to announce now.

  22. I've owned 11 of the "partner" packs for a while (as they were available direct from the vendors). The nice things about the packs as that usually with the free ones random people post they do not run the gain range of an amp to give you better options of what to pick from. Many of the packs with 20+ captures, I'm simply narrowing it down to a clean, dirt and little heavier dirt that I like best from the pack. Some of the Amalgam Audio stuff is better than what IKM is capturing, IMO - as in more usable as it gives you a range of tones with the same mic setup. IKM would capture one amp and the clean might with with different mics than the dirty. Sure you could change cabs on it, but that loses some of the consistency.

  23. I admit, I’ve made a couple of track icons over the years. When I have to take a break from some boring task, I find it relaxing to do something completely different just for fun. Sometimes it's track icons. Yeah, I know. Today I noticed that I had made more than 500 of them, so I thought maybe someone else might have some use for them as well. They’re all virtual instruments and in some cases preset libraries. Of course, there’s a LOT of virtual instruments out there so please don’t expect to find every conceivable VSTi or library in this collection. They are all in png format with a size of 96x96 pixels. The image files are named [Developer]-[Plugin]_cnps.png. That way they should be quite easy to locate despite the large number of files and also not inadvertently overwrite any existing track icons you might have. Some of them come in a few different variants as well. How to use them in CbB Track icons are normally placed in the folder Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\Track Icons and can be inserted into a project by right-clicking on a track’s default track icon and then selecting Load Track Icon. Navigate to the folder where your icons of choice are kept and take your pick. They can be added separately to Track View, Track Inspector and Console View. Just make sure that Views > Icons > Show Icons is selected and they should turn up. You can optionally just drag-and-drop a track icon from File Explorer onto the track. Any part of the track will work as destination, so you won't have to drop it on the existing track icon. This action will also (almost always) automatically update the icon in the Track Inspector and the Console View as well. Fun fact: This drag-and-drop feature is not documented in the Online Help, nor in the Reference Guide. I simply found it out by trying. I would suggest that these track icons are kept inside the attached folder so that they are kept separate from all legacy icons that come with a CbB installation. And no, I certainly don’t have all of these plugins and libraries. Far from it. But I do have a couple of them … How to get them These icons may be downloaded as a zip file from here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmXDCxaGb7JEgQTra_vTlaGww6zr?e=aBShc5 Disclaimer I certainly don’t claim ownership of any of the trademarks faintly discernible on these track icons. Just in case someone wondered.

  26. Or because this is FX Pick & Mix Group Buy specifically for T-RackS and AmpliTube effects... We have been having group buys for years, haven't had bad luck with them so we'll probably keep doing them. Also, we're at 8 for the price of one now and close to the next tier. If it isn't for you, understood, but for those interested the pace is picking up which is expected once people realize that if everybody waits, nobody wins... Again, not remotely our first rodeo.

  27. While I have personally complained about the Export window quirk of selections having priority over presets, the other issues are a bit weird considering your claimed track score. You've been using Cakewalk since the 90s and you've never felt like reporting those sooner, especially considering you were a Cakewalk user when some of those were brand new features? Considering you cannot get out of a properly adjusted belt unless you unbuckle it, the comparison is a bit of a non-issue and you'd only have that triggered if you are one of those people that buckles all seat belts even when no one is using them. In that case, you'd figure that issue sooner, rather than bottle all of that in for years only to rant about it 20 years after you've been running the car.

  28. These testimonials don't mean $___ anymore. It's ridiculous. I'm sure it's a decent product, but we all have an insane amount of saturation plugins, especially if we count all the plugins that are saturation plugins with catchy marketing euphemisms like "The Flavorator" or the "Bass Hibachi"

  39. Hey, @Byron Dickens. Don't you ever have anything nice to say to people? Practically everything you say to people you're putting them down somehow. You're very disrespectful. If you can't say anything pleasant please don't say anything at all! And I'm sure I'm not the only one here who feels that way!

  43. fixed that for ya. wrt the original topic, mos def bought more than needed, but being relatively new to the tarpit, had to live with most of these for a while and do some critical listening before actually hearing what made a difference for me. ... getting there, and appreciating that the tools available are hardly a limitation for creativity. it's more about learning than owning. the biggest GAS brake here is the ad copy/marketing vids that are 95% recycled ad nauseam bs adjectives for mix moves that could be just as easily done with the ProChannel. and have started to name a project for each new purchase. fwiw, a few have been hanging in there and proving themselves where it counts.. planning to upgrade at least a couple project PCs to the latest Intel CPUs/Win11 to see how close one might get to RT tracking with FX and expect a significant purge of the current VST inventory in the move. iirc there was a "game changer" plugin thread somewhere. might be interesting to expand on that with specifics/audio files?

  48. Yeh, wi-fi can kill audio performance. Network interrupts take priority over audio interrupts, and that sneaky little bugger is constantly chatting with the world, probing for any of his networky cohorts to start a chat. Best to kill that chatty CPU thief when you have better things to do than search for printers. Every version of Windows enables services on initial installation, including some processes that you don't need when your laptop has just one purpose. When you reinstalled Windows, it likely turned on a bunch of things that are either new services or services you'd previously disabled under Win10. LatencyMon is a good start, but it'll only tell you about a specific type of problem (DPC overhead) and may not tip you off to other background processes that are hogging the CPU, memory or I/O bus. You'll still have to painstakingly run down the list of running processes, identify which ones are eating resources and figure out if they're necessary (e.g. antivirus realtime protection). Check out the link that Larioso posted above. It's specifically about using laptops on stage.
