  1. Just ran across this yesterday from Starsky Carr. In this video from a year ago he links to a thread in the Gearspace forum where a moderator shared an ultimate Ensoniq patch collection for ESQ-1 and SQ-80 owners back in 2018. https://gearspace.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-and-electronic-music-production/1207777-ensoniq-esq-1-sq-80-ultimate-patch-collection.html Starsky points out that the SQ-80 patch banks from the original Ensoniq floppy disks work in the Arturia SQ80 V, since they have been converted to SysEx (.syx). If you read down to the last page in the Gearspace thread, another user has done most of the work for SQ80 V users. He has already imported the SysEx banks into SQ80 V and exported them in Arturia format in "Arturia-presets.zip", so all you have to do is unzip the bank folders and then slide them into your "/arturia/presets/SQ80 V/User/" folder, and restart the plugin. https://gearspace.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-and-electronic-music-production/1207777-ensoniq-esq-1-sq-80-ultimate-patch-collection-3.html You can also import individual SysEx banks directly yourself using the "Import" dialog in the Arturia SQ80 V. The only downside is that there are so many! Thousands!!! The imported patches will be "dry", so any desired effects will need to be added inside the soft synth. But the Arturia SQ80 V macro controls for brightness, timbre, time, and movement work right out of the box! Some real gems in here!

  3. New in Version 5.3.1 The update to Version 5.3.1 contains improvements and bug fixes, which is why we recommend it to all users. Pro Tools with ARA: When repeated use was made of the Undo function in Melodyne, under very special circumstances Pro Tools could crash. ARA and plug-in: Under certain circumstances, not every note was included in local playback. ARA: When creating a new project, the DAW under certain circumstances displayed an error message even though the new project was error-free. ARA: When you switched back to Edit Mode from Note Assignment Mode, it could happen that the display scrolled all the way to the top instead of returning to the previous vertical position. Studio One: When Studio One was launched, a crash sometimes occurred while the Melodyne plug-in was being scanned. Digital Performer: Under rare circumstances, moving blobs could lead to a crash. Samplitude: In Melodyne 5.3, it sometimes happened that the ARA files of older projects were muted during playback. Stand-alone implementation: In Note Assignment Mode, execution of the “Convert Selection to Connected Sequence” function sometimes led to a crash. Stand-alone and ARA: On very high-resolution screens under macOS Monterey, crashes could occur in Full Screen Mode. Keyboard shortcuts: The assignments for Track Mode and Clip Mode were erroneously listed under “Editing Tools” instead of “View Configuration”, as they are now. Keyboard shortcuts: The Fade Tool and Sibilant Balance Tool now appear directly beneath the Amplitude Tool, which corresponds to the layout in the toolbox. Note Assignment Mode: Under certain circumstances when you were editing in Note Assignment Mode, individual notes were not played back. Time Handles: When undoing an edit made with the Time Handle Tool, it sometimes happened that the sound of the note in question remained unchanged. ARA: When the Universal algorithm was used, a display error (gaps between the blobs) sometimes occurred when blobs were being edited. To download the update, run the Update Check in the Melodyne Preferences, or log into your Celemony user account and download the installer from there.

  6. The Bob Moog Foundation has announced a fundraising raffle for a fully restored vintage Minimoog synthesizer signed by Geddy Lee, the legendary synthesist, bassist, and vocalist for the band Rush. The raffle begins on February 6 and ends on February 27, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. ET, or when all 10,000 tickets sell out, whichever comes first. The raffle is open internationally. Bob Moog's legacy stands out as a pioneer, an inventor, and a stylist. He helped initiate styles of music that wouldn't have otherwise been possible without his contribution. Geddy Lee. Tickets are $25 each, five for $100, 12 for $200, or 35 for $500, and can be purchased here. The winner will be announced on Friday, March 3, 2023. The Minimoog featured is serial number 4070, built at Moog Music's Williamsville, NY, USA factory on Feb 14, 1974. It has been meticulously restored by synthesizer technician Jareth Lackey of Synthpro Restorations, who specializes in the restoration of vintage Moog synthesizers. It has a desirable modification: the Opto-Key upgrade, originally created by Kevin Lightner, which replaces the original mechanical contacts with infrared light sensors, eliminating contact cleaning or wear. The Opto-Key upgrade also includes MIDI In and as well as MIDI Out. The MIDI jacks were modified in a very discreet manner, to prevent holes in the chassis. The Minimoog is in excellent technical condition, and has minor cosmetic flaws, as is commensurate with a synthesizer of this vintage. The Minimoog has an estimated value of $10,000 USD. Due to the highly coveted nature of this archetypal synthesizer, and the signature from Geddy Lee, it is likely to increase in value. https://moogfoundation.org/win-a-minimoog-signed-by-geddy-lee-of-rush/

  11. I own a lot of plugins in those bundles. Been using many of the ones that are natively available via UA Connect for months. (Working mobile and don't bring UA hardware in my mobile rig.) Adding any of the bundles to my cart while logged in gives me full price. I guess I'll just keep using them for free lol. Only ones I really care about anymore are the Lex 224 and LA-2A collection, as I find them superior to alternatives from other companies. Everything else has been replaced already. Too little too late imo - UA should have been competing natively years ago. They've long been surpassed by competitors.

  19. Again, they did not get that their exotic scrolling and zooming is a huge problem, if Melodyne is used in a DAW! 👎 I am waiting that they will give the possibility to define scrolling/zooming with scroll wheel (with shift/alt/ctrl), so that the user does not have to switch the scrolling behavior all the time between the DAW and MD!

  26. No! 😝 Well, it just works great on a drumbus. If you need some grit and/or aggression. For me, it's a mojo box, it adds a certain character. And I think it works best on drums. I don't bother with the presets because it's very easy to setup and to find your sweetspot.

  33. Thanks for the info about other sales/promotions. I remembered about some promotion within the past year where there was something bundled with several possible "collections" of pre-chosen sound banks. Possibly that was when the upgrade to the whole batch of synths was $249 to me based on what I already had. As for previewing the sound banks, I looked at the _Sounds in a web browser and saw the 50% off prices, but soon switched to the Store in Analog Lab V to preview which ever sounds they had available for the demos. At first the store inside of Analog Lab V showed the full price, but after about 3 or 4 minutes it started showing the 50% off prices. I ruled out a lot of sound banks. Not really into "dance" music, some of the banks were too similar to other products I have from other manufacturers, ruled out banks for which I don't the the virtual synths, and made mental notes to revisit a handful of sound banks that might add to the range of editable sounds I already have in some synth or another. Since I got on board with Pigments 4, I got the 3 "contemporary" sounding banks. Towards the end of the month (if I don't forget), the plan is to revisit the banks and see if any of the ones on my short list inspire me. Oh yeah, for those who don't know, the suggestion to periodically look to see what's available at the _Sounds web page for new free banks is an excellent suggestion.

  40. How much delay do you need? Eventide Precision Time Align is +- 10ms. Of course, you can stack them in the FX Rack. Or set the nudge values in CbB Preferences as needed then nudge the clip(s). Channel Tools may be an option too.

  41. Also, I notice that your processor is an i7-4790K. It might seem counterintuitive, but if you have it overclocked, maybe you could try going a bit more conservative with that. Thermal issues happen when overclocking is pushed too far. But no matter what, I'd still check the paste and look into a tower cooler if your case is wide enough. There are some well-reviewed ones on eBay for under $20 if you don't want to spend so much on an older system.
