  1. Arturia will as of the next release only support CLAP.

  2. I honestly don't see any reason to update yet. It took years for companies to really start making anything for Kontakt 6 that didn't use Player. Many companies are still developing their libraries using Kontakt 5. I'd personally say give it a year or so before spending the money because chances are, there isn't going to be much worth upgrading for.

  3. What this thread needs is some pessimism..... Arturia Subscription Plan? 🤨

  4. Don't let me convince you it is needed. Make sure it works for your workflow. I still think the thing is annoying in the sense that this shouldn't be a plugin but built into the DAW itself. We should all be requesting it on a Cakewalk roadmap for example. Mixing by opening plugins (levels or panning) is super annoying.

  10. If they don’t, a handy trick is to add (the free) iZotope Vinyl to your cart. Then, more often than not, coupons codes like Group or Forum tend to work.

  11. MAutoAlign is great. I refuse to use Waves plugins anymore, so I no longer use (or even install) InPhase. Here are two videos that show the benefits of phase alignment. The first uses InPhase, the second MAutoAlign. I'm sure there are other videos, but I'm a bass player, so these "spoke" to me.

  13. The only sales that he does are intro deals. But his regular prices are so low they are like half price for a typical Kontakt Player or Ample Sound library. He does this by requiring full Kontakt, rather than passing on the cost of NI Player licensing to the customer.

  14. And if you already have both, they'll give you a Polybrute

  15. Yes, they are well respected and make excellent stuff. I think if they updated the UI look you would see them get a little more attention. Sonically they all punch above the price point. Also note they tend to have some stripped down versions you can get for free which gives a good taste of the sonic quality and if you will bond with the looks/interface. The UI is rather utilitarian but can also tend to be on the boring side of things visually

  16. Could you maybe expand on your specific problem? Yes, OMF support in Cakewalk does have some limitations, as does every DAW other than ProTools, where it is a native feature. This is not a secret. AFAIK users (albeit a small subset of Cakewalk users that need it) have been successfully transferring projects out of Cakewalk for years via OMF, even though it's been considered a dead protocol for awhile. I'd agree that if you regularly transfer projects to ProTools, then you should probably be working in ProTools. But if you try other DAWs to see if they suit your needs better, I'd suggest a small test project rather than investing hours creating a full project.

  17. A man went to his Dr. and asked...."if I give up smoking, drinking and all the foods I love that are bad for me, will I live to be 100 ?" The Dr. replied.... " No, it will just feel like it."

  18. The reality is that it's an incredible amount of work to support any new protocol and deal with the inevitable bugs and confusion. VST3 is flawed in many ways and its design is a bit strange, but at least it is extensible. Decades ago in the 2000's, Cakewalk started an open plugin standard discussion with all DAW and Plugin vendors. The specification was in discussion for over a year, and nothing came of it despite it being way better than anything out there at the time. Often, it's not the best thing that sees adoption, there are many factors.

  19. Kontakt 7 has locked out 'under the hood' editing on most libraries because of proprietary coding for HDPI scalability. Many other bugs have arisen as well, so maybe wait until the dust settles before upgrading. Just MHO.

  21. All right, I know - it is the fare of those great 60s late night commercials for the cd sets. But hell, when I heard this again at 2AM coming out of my TV, I was just floored by how great an old song it was and had to try it. I had fun, but I just hope I didn't ruin it too much. https://baselines.com/?p=6599

  27. Yes it does. It has an entire panning section in the center of the plugin that can pan globally or left / right separately, or mid-side separately. Testing it - if the mono-maker is set to a crossover of, for example, 1khz, then the panning of either left / right is not affected below this 1khz threshold (depending on how you set up the panning section). Comparing this to the Boz plugin, I can get exactly the same result, but can also go further as I have more control over the stereo field, as well as splitting mid-side if I want. Also - once my panning choices are made, I have EQ control over both the mono & stereo field individually, which makes it far more powerful. Pro-Q 3 also gives me this exact same control, with addition of dynamic EQ - although it takes longer to get the same result. Actually, Digital V3 also has dynamics control in addition to pre/post switching.

  34. Installed the banjo last night. I already have OTS evolution banjo, but haven't spent enough time with it to get used to workflow - though it has really cool features (e.g., the strum pattern creator). The Indiginus offering is fantastic. Immediately playable, with a GUI that is cleverly thought out and well-designed. Had a blast playing with the bluegrass harmony (which sounds incredible), and the system of having different articulations set to soft, medium, and hard velocity is really smart and means you can hit the ground running! Thoroughly recommended! This was my first Indiginus library, but after a few minutes with it I immediately put their Fiddle, lap steel, and mandolin libraries on my wishlist!

  39. I was looking at Precision Align, but MAutoAlign does time alignment and spectral alignment and works great. It is probably my single most used Melda plugin. Align drums, guitar/bass Di/cabs, I even use it to align my kick/bass. I got yelled at by the developer because you're not supposed to, but it actually works sometimes! 🤪 What I really like about this one is how easy it is to use. After you have it set up on your tracks and grouped (mine is in my template), you simply analyze the tracks, toggle the bypass a few times to see if it's better, then move on... It's an awesome plugin! https://www.meldaproduction.com/MAutoAlign

  42. You may want to take a look at Renegade Acoustic Guitar from Indiginus. It's very reasonably priced ($69), but requires the full version of Kontakt. https://www.indiginus.com/renegade-acoustic-guitar https://soundbytesmag.net/review-renegade-acoustic-guitar-from-indiginus/ 32 generic strum patterns come built in that you can use as-is or modify, or you can create your own from scratch. You can link ten of these to ten keyswitches for on-the-fly pattern switching. The strum sequencer can have up to sixteen steps. Each step specifies whether the chord should be an up- or down-stroke, muted or sustained, and each stroke’s velocity. It’s simple and intuitive. Orange Tree Samples virtual guitars for Kontakt Player, such as Evolution Songwriter ($179) have a strum module that allows you to edit and save user strum patterns. Ample Sound virtual guitars (non-Kontakt) such as Ample Guitar M ($169) feature the Strummer — a built-in sequencer that makes it possible for users to develop their own strum patterns. As far as I know the virtual guitars from Native Instruments and UJAM just provide preset strum patterns.

  43. I assuming that is a humorous statement. I have been clean for 10 years . . . The best I can offer you is just tell yourself why you are quitting (what ever the reason) and stick to it . . . Day three is the worst . . . Go a week and don't give in . . . You will thank yourself for in the future. Remember this: if you give in once, you can do it again (quit). Do Not Give up. Avoid alcohol, pot or any other stimulant that would make you want to smoke. No bars for a bit if can avoid it - you will find it easier to go outside and do it with a friend. Good luck . . . Syphus

  44. Going on 10 years next February. I was a voracious smoker - almost 2 packs (of 25) a day, closer to 3 when I drank. And I was extremely worried that quitting would impact my creativity negatively, because I smoked almost non-stop when I wrote and when I recorded or even just played guitar. The only thing it messed up is my voice - which never was the same. I actually loved to smoke. But I hated being a slave to it. Hated to constantly have to organize my life to accomodate the habit. The in-laws would invite us and serve an amazing dinner and the minute I'd put the fork down I'd be thinking - how long before I can excuse myself to go out for a smoke? Or you're super tired and getting ready for bed, but you realize that you only have 3 smokes left - which means that you'll have to go first thing in the morning or that you won't have any cigarette when you wake up if you wake up to smoke a few times during the night. Always counting and planning... Not to mention the prices - when I left Quebec, they sold for $12 a pack... Patches did it for me. I kept them on 24h because I used to wake up to smoke at night. And I did the whole treatment, too. I was in a daze for a while, had trouble focusing, felt a bit clumsy, but the not-smoking part was actually not that hard. I tried to smoke once after that, at a a Halloween party a few years later. I really wanted to like it but I found it thoroughly disgusting. I sometimes get a hint of craving but it usually lasts a fraction of a second.

  45. 20 years and 2 months since I last smoked a cigarette. I used patches and they worked for me, alongside a lot of willpower. I think what helped was that the patches I used were to be applied when I woke up, and discarded at bedtime. I think the 'hit' of applying a new patch each morning helped allay the worse of the early morning cravings ... ... even though even after all this time, I still miss the first cigarette of the day with a cup of coffee 😊
