  1. This is the best kind of deal of all, everything is FREE, the presets and the synth they're used in. So, everyone can afford this. I found this excellent resource of free presets for VITAL, the free open source synth. In case you aren't already familiar with VITAL, it's a great sounding synth --I love it more than most synths I've paid for (there is a paid version with some additional presets and features,, which is a good way to support the developer/development of the synth, but it's completely unnecessary for using these presets). There's a lot of great sounded presets at this site, they're well categorized and you get to listen to a demo of each one before deciding if you want to download them. https://presetshare.com/presets?query=&instrument=2&genre=&type=&orderby=relevance

  2. Disappointing, but not surprising. The Forever29 plan screws up their entire marketing plan of "Hey, look at these amazing sale prices" when those of us that know about the Forever29 plan say, "That's ridiculous, every plugin they sell is only worth $30.99 and here's why." That said, the discontinuation of the Forever29 "subscription" and their change to the $25 loyalty voucher requiring a minimum purchase of $75 means that I'll be purchasing far fewer plugins from Plugin Alliance going forward.

  5. The F29 IMO is a way better deal than having the cashback because you can choose any plugin you want without having to wait for a sale that include all the interesting ones (as you need to use the cashback all at once). You just have to be patient to get one per month. The "use all their plugins" option does not interest me because (a) I already have most of them and don't need a subscription for that and (b) I don't like the idea of using a plugin that I do not own in a production. Maybe I'm silly. YMMV. Edith says: but you never "own" a plugin my silly boy. I know that but... anyway... you got the point.

  7. After (nicely) expressing my views, I've had two responses from IK on Wednesday - "Since this is a discounted purchase from Audio Plugin deals it does not qualify for the MEGA bogo Promotion. " "Unfortunately, Audio Plugin Deals did not have the disclaimer but it does not change how the promotion works on our end." A follow up email stating how their promotion is not working to their terms and conditions unsurprisingly got no response at all. No explanation, no talk of refunds. Just it's working as intended. Has anyone got anything useful from them at all? Also opened a support ticket on Wednesday for the Drums 1.5 SE update not working (has trashed my 1.0 install, and is now demanding i reinstall the factory sounds - which i have as part of my saved1.0 install, but that's no good. I've got some drum sounds in the sounds section which are telling me they need to be updated, but the download links have expired - prob due to an unused 1.5 CS install) - and I have yet to hear anything from them. Probably just resetting the downloads would solve the issue, so I'm not expecting it to be a huge support issue, but for reasons it's taken a long time. In the meantime I keep getting "Wake me up before you BOGO" spam from them, so at least I know their email system hasn't imploded. With that, and the comments from Peter here (particularly the one that got edited), I don't think I'll be buying anything IK in the future. Oh - and AudioPluginDeals. You on the other hand know how to look after your customers. I complained to them. In literally a couple of minutes I got a credit note for the full price for my troubles, and got to keep the non-working Drum SE. See IK - that's how you treat customers. It's not rocket science.

  8. FYI, a lot of the modules are polyphonic. For example, to change the initial demo synth from mono to poly, right-click on the Cardinal Host MIDI module and increase the Polyphony channels setting. The connecting cables increase in thickness to indicate polyphonic connections.

I spent my late teens listening to Genesis and God alone knows how many drummers they had playing on some of their albums - so I guess I think anything is possible. 😂 Some great insights on this thread that have been a really interesting read - so as the OP that started it - thanks to everyone who has contributed. 12. But There is no 9.99 version of that plugin . there is only one version. Else it would mean there is a lite stripped version of it and a regular 49.99 version. The fact that someone bought SSRS and Mixbox in the past is irrelevant to the value of the plugin. Anyways, Most of the items listed on the $49 tiers aren't ever worth a buck. Old SampleTank loops e.t.c... Seems silly to lose customer faith over old loops.

  13. For those interested in a free taste of the plug-in version of VCV Rack. From the Readme.md in https://github.com/DISTRHO/Cardinal/ It contains over 900 of the free VCV Rack 2 modules. Compiled binaries for all OSes are here. On Windows, the installer exe is required. The zip contains plug-in binaries and redundant resource files. I skipped VST3 for now.

  15. Uninstall Drum Replacer (pretty sure it was a separate installation), or rename C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal\Drum Replacer\DrumReplacer.vst3 to C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal\Drum Replacer\DrumReplace.vst_ and re-scan VSTs - or move the entire folder C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal\Drum Replacer out of there and re-scan). Unregister (regsvr32 /u) V-Vocal (location should be C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared DXi\VVocal\cronos.dll) Vocal Sync I think you may be stuck with.

I still have to run electric out to it and make a patio under it for the hot tub. Edited to say these last few Saturdays. I could have built a lot more if I had two whole weeks.

  28. Dirty contacts in the keys. Loose wires. Dirty contacts on the plugs. Cracked speaker cone. Dirty potentiometers. Broken microphone diaphragm. Sunspots. Incorrect settings in your audio interface software. Microsoft. More information is needed. What audio interface are you using? What driver mode? What operating system? How is the keyboard connected? Which keyboard is it? Are all of your drivers up to date? What version of Cakewalk software are you on? How are you making sound? A software synthesizer? Which one? A MIDI sound module? Really, there are a ton of things that could make noise, so letting us all know what you know may help you.

  29. Warren Willingham and I know a lot of you from the previous Cakewalk forum - some of you are new to us. Warren and I have been recording together for - I'm guessing 15 years or so. We haven't been doing anything for the past couple of years, but, we finally have a new one. This one is called Dancing In the Moonlight. I wrote the music - Warren wrote the lyrics. I played guitar and did all the keys and background sounds on a synth guitar. Warren sings and plays bass - I did all the final production work. Thanks in advance for taking a listen. https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14471998

  30. A recent project – and it comes complete with a music video. The Johnny Cash version of the song has a video that was put together by a bunch of ticket-taking celebs sometime after his death. Let’s just say I doubt their sincerity vis-a-vis the message of the song. That, and the JC version (which is also a cover, btw) didn’t have nearly enough guitar for my tastes. This one has a swampy Texas blues ‘thing’, at least to my mind. I did the music, production, and put the video together. Friend of mine did the vocals, and a lovely community of like-minded folks contributed the video clips and stills used in the vid. Also, a more talented guitarist than I provided the first solo. Hope you enjoy it.

  33. I think they definitely target hard rock and metal, but I was able to get some nice clean tones out of this one. It almost gets a nice 3D tube kind of sound. Have you tried this one of theirs in particular? The other huge callout is that almost all their presets are terrible and not even close to what the amps are capable of. Maybe they suit their guitars/pickups/DI but I usually flick through all their presets, hate them all and then start tweaking including trying some different cabs. Once I've done that, they normally hold their own very well against most of the competition 🙂

  34. Asper, an new experimental synth combining wavetable, subtractive, phase distortion and physical modeling for sound generation is available as a FREE download. Idea was to add humanization to the sound on oscillator level in order to simulate behavior of real world instrument where each hit is different. It is not trying to simulate sound behavior like in analog synth, but rather to simulate Round Robin. Instead of complex modulation I decided to split wavelet OSC to two layers that each has it’s own control. This way is you can easily control (for example) attack per velocity without assigning any modulation source. You can detune each layer, enable comb filter, enable pitch envelope or phase distortion to each layer individually. All blending control have individual shape setting for each layer or even inverse mode in order to have different amount or phase while using same MIDI CC or velocity. Features include: One wave table oscillator 118 wave tables that can be combined in multiple ways Comb filter for both wave table layers Advanced amplitude adjustment with break point control for better control Phase distortion for each wave table layer with 5 different shapes and it’s own detune Mod section for Phase distortion with sync option One noise sub synth Round Robin simulation on oscillator level for both wave table and noise OSC Set blending mode based on velocity or control with assignable MIDI CC Ability to control shape for morphing, filter, FM amount starting from Exponential to Logarithmic Filter with parallel or serial mode Mod section for filter Shaper, two modes Saturation Portamento for mono with adjustable velocity level for triggering Vibrato module Interactive GUI with mouse over for each element that can be changed or adjusted -lEach control that have assignable MIDI CC have additional display for assigned controller All envelope controls have additional 6 quick sub presets to choose from Ensemble module for for unison or even reverb like simulation Simple soft clipper to prevent clipping that can be disabled Randomization for almost each subsection Simple preset manager One page with adjustable GUI scale, 80 up to 150% Asper is available to PC users (VST2 and VST3). 36. (1) I wrote the following up before all the rancor but was hoping others would chime in to help. Is there a reason you haven't updated Windows 10? 1709 is something like five years old and Microsoft has updated a lot that affects audio (sometimes in good ways, sometimes in bad ways). Just a guess, but maybe newer versions of Cakewalk work better with newer versions of Windows. Maybe not, though. (2) New thoughts which might be related to the meat of the issue (that is, not all the rancor). I do know that Windows Updates have changed a whole lot that affects Sound (Audio and MIDI) including the Sound Troubleshooter and the Information / Settings / Configuration pages. For the longest time on my PC Windows Update would spend a lot of time downloading and installing only to fail and then undo the update. Then one time they changed something with the update installer and pinpointed a specific issue that led me to uninstall something called VirtualBox. After that I have been getting Windows Updates without issues. I did lose the use of a legacy PCI Sound Card, but Windows Sound (Audio and MIDI) has been much more stable. Hope this helps and everyone can stop with the rancor. Not blaming anyone at all.

  45. @MusicMan IMHO, there are plenty of monoizing plugins and it's pretty straightforward, but Stereoizer is something special. I barely use the widening feature, like maybe 5-10%. It uses both frequencies and/or time to do its thing , and it just adds a 3D depth which I haven't found in other "widener" plugins. Demo it and see what you think. It a good one!
