  1. Some of you may remember my video about how to save money on music software. It was fun to do because it has a shout-out to King Larry, but it was not a very successful video. It's still up there. This year I cut two minutes out of it and made a video that is just about my Tiger sale. Since the time I did the original, I've developed a lot of techniques to inject maximum stupidity into my videos through sound effects, video clips, and other nonsense. I hope these two minutes are more fun to watch than they were in the original. And as you know, I made a redirect from tigerthefrog.com to the VI:Control post. If any of are involved with social media, please pass it on to anybody you think might be interested. Obviously a lot of my info comes from this forum, but I actually get a bit of it elsewhere , from Reddit, Rekkerd, KVR, and just hunting around in places like Loot Audio. But the big thing about this is not being first, but the way it is organized in categories and alphabetized.

  13. If you've ever had to load a project with multiple instances of a missing plugin you'll know how painful and embarrassing it can be because for each instance of the plugin that was used, you would get a pop-up notifying you of that missing plugin as your project loads up. So if you happen to mix a project with 50 or 80 or 100 tracks and you used said missing plugin generously (like an EQ or pitch-correction), brace yourself because you're in for it! Had to suffer through this many o' times and I know I'm not alone and this particular post might be one of many so I'm hoping the devs do us a big favour and nuke this sore clean out of the software. Cheers!

  15. They did have this holiday sale last year. The larger custom bundles meant a better deal. I'm guessing you can add it to a bundle during their BF sale, if they have one (UAD is on my BF list). Either way, paying $300 for this would be a chump move. I know UAD has been working on this for years to get it right. I'm real excited to try it out, but I'll probably drag my feet on a demo till we get closer to the inevitable sales.

  16. Not really. Even though SoundPaint plays samples, it's not a pure sample playback engine. As such, it's not intended to replace the 8Dio sample libraries for the Kontakt platform. It's an engine that lets you layer, morph, and mangle up to 4 sampled parts.

  17. We all used to play that at work back in the day.....everyone had their pc screen angled so it wasn't visible from the entrance to wherever they sat and had something else work related also open ready for a ninja like alt+tab whenever the boss walked in.....

  19. Hard to fathom that the Commodore 64 is 63gb for the full blown version. There are some that are gaga over this. I would think these could be duplicated on any softsynth.

  21. As stated, it's their sample engine. The engine itself, a piano and later today, another library are all free to download and check out. It has an interesting features that allows you to morph characteristics of one instrument to another, so basically every library you get not only gives you new sounds to play with, it also opens up sonic possibilities with existing libraries. Not a shill for them or anything. I've just been having a lot of fun playing around with it.

  26. Hello All, This is a great modification for those of you like me who wished that my headphone cable was removable. I purchased my Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro headphones and my DT-770 headphones and wished they were removable like the ones on my KRK KNS 8400 closed back headphones. Well, I saw this video and realized that I could make it happen, watch on...

  28. Very bad!!! Yes, they should have learned from that. And yet they advertise it as an exciting new developmnet for us. Which makes it worse than the eLicenser. My answer is: a moron (completely untethered to the world of modern music making). If this means that I lose the ability to use my current version of Cubase (ver 11) in perpetuity (b/c I will never upgrade again!), then it becomes a Melville-esque scenario:

  33. how is that even fuggin possible! didn't that thing have 64kb of disk space total?
    1 point
  34. Thanks @Promidi! Options 1 and 2 both help prevent the MIDI muddle during playback, but they don't fix the problem of it happening to an export. Option 3 finally stopped it from exporting incorrectly; two of the three MIDI instruments had the "Enable MIDI output" box checked, and unchecking them fixed the problem. Thank you so much, you're a lifesaver!

  35. Absolutely. I do home recording so I can always re-record something. If you're a recording engineer I can see that it's nice to be able to tweak things after the artist has recorded.

  42. Gigperformer can play back audio, and now midi, but it's easier for me to use CbB as I can align any PC messages and DMX with the backing track easily on the timeline. In Gigperformer, I often select a different rack (collection of VSTs) for a different part of song.. there might be a way, but couldn't see a simple way of keeping the same backing track playing when moving to a different rack. Gigperformer is pretty awesome, and I'd highly recommend it - it is a bit pricey though. If you have Studio One then the Show Page could be worth investigating; it looks interesting, but don't think it's quite there yet feature wise - hopefully they continue to develop it. Sadly I think John is right, Live performance is a very small niche, in a very small market! So although CbB has the potential to be an amazing live performance tool, I doubt it will be developed in that direction - hence always good to hear other peoples solutions!

  46. Success! We have found our new bass player. His timing is good, he can sing harmony, isn't a drug addict, alcoholic or general flake. He's a Reaper user, but I can overlook that. It was a long day. I sang and played for 9 hours straight, something I haven't done in a very long while. Now comes the slog of working him in in time for the next gig, which fortunately is nearly a month away. I am beat. But it was a good day today.
