  1. In case anyone else is interested in an extremely nerdy and unofficial look at the numbers: Using timestamps of posts in this thread (and from a couple other "interested" forums) that mention specific counts, I found ~60 data points from early on the 5th through about noon today, plus a handful of my own this evening. Comparing the gaps of time and counts between pairs of posts, I can work out the approximate signups/hour over various periods of time. Here's the quick rundown: From the "start" (counting the 8/5 early-morning announcement) to now: 14.2 signups / hour Since the "race to 10k" announcement, approximately (5pm GMT yesterday, if my calc from EST is right, with the count at 7075) to now: 19.3 signups / hour Needed from now (04:00 GMT) to the end of the 31st: 24.6 signups / hour It's a bump in the average, for sure -- and we've already seen a bit of bump since the extension announcement. But the rate has been > 25 / hour for several stretches during the GB, including a full day near the beginning and at least a 10-hour stretch today. This is my first IKGB rodeo, so I'll defer to others with experience about how high, far, wide and long the numbers might or might not jump, but 10k seems plausible if enthusiasm holds. In the meantime, the numbers are fun for a data nerd to fiddle with.

  4. Thanks, DA. I'm only capable of doing math when I'm supposed to be doing something else -- like actually making music from these goodies I'm turning into a museum curator of. (You should see my plugin spreadsheet. I need an intervention. Or possibly an abacus.) Speaking of which, a nerdier but more practical way to look at the home stretch. Around 8pm GMT on the 26th (count = 7075), the "race to 10k" was announced and we had, I think, 126 hours to go. Looking at both the rate between data points ("current rate", some just an hour apart at this point) and the rate since the announcement (the "10k race rate"), here's where things stand as of noon-plus EST: So with about 2/3 of the hours left, not on pace for 10k -- but generally increasing the pace going into the weekend, and above the rate needed for some stretches. If the final day or so gets the boost some are expecting, it's within reach -- especially if the overall rate keeps inching up in the meantime. Stay strong. Be well. Nerd out.

  5. Hi folks there is a new build 99 posted today that addresses several issues noted. See the main post.

  6. I thought I'd post this for a discussion and for easier referencing in the future. There are several ways to bounce tracks and buses (tracks are easier!) with side-chained plugins. I think this one that @Will_Kaydo told me about is the easiest (see embedded video at bottom): Bounce tracks with SC plugins using Source Category set to Buses - It requires that the track you want to bounce ("original track") is routed to an intermediary bus (say, "Synths"), before going to Master, and you select your "Synths" bus as a Source Category instead. If you would do this while the original track goes straight to Master, you will get the sidechain source audio mixed in (assuming it's an audible track). A couple of other ways I've done it in the past: 2. Bounce tracks with SC plugins using Source Category set to Tracks - This is how I've done it for years, with sidechained plugins according to the Cakewalk manual. In the Bounce to Tracks dialogue, select both the original track and the sidechain source, and set Source Category to Tracks. It works, but the downside is that you get two new tracks, which is slow and also a slight nuisance to have to delete. 3. Bounce buses with SC plugins using Source Category set to Entire mix and a silent sidechain source - Create a copy of your source (say, a kick drum track), set the Output to None (this will generate warnings at project load, though), or turn down the fader and set send level to pre-fader. Use Entire Mix as Source Category. The pros are that you can bounce it without it being audible and you can easily create pumping/ducking effects even when your kick is muted. But the downside is the increased project complexity. It was a few years since I did it this way, and nowadays plugins like the LFOtool are a way easier. Hm, did I get all things right? Please chime in if you have thoughts or improvements. Will's great video:

  9. I was "good" in math back in the day (kind of pressured to go into engineering, but was unable to wear the requisite pocket protector🙃, and I mean no disrespect). I must say that "stats" was the most boring math I was forced to study. I am, however, quite impressed with your analysis Charlie. Especially the entertaining way in which you presented your final conclusion above! Please keep up the good work. And I mean that most sincere, (oh gawd I can't help myself) "and by the way, which one's pink?" t I shall conclude with a quote my Mother used quite often: "figures never lie, but liars figure" I know its a cliche...

  10. Registered a fourth last night. I won’t be able to use all the picks for the two $99 level ones but bit on Mixbox last night for the $199 level Freebies.

  13. Husker has pretty well summed up my experience (over MANY years) with IK, and my analysis of IK is well known in this forum! While the products are great, the business model is abismal at best. The HUGE saving grace for IK is.... THE GROUP BUYS... If not for the Group Buys, and the fact that the products are decent, they would have already been ditched! THAT being said, my hat is REALLY, TRULY, off to Pete, who has been a STELLAR representative of IK! I can't begin to applaud him enough for his help to MANY of us here on this forum! He truly is ANOTHER of the reasons that I continue to buy IK Products, and I say that will all sincerity!

  14. This is actually a bit belated, but I don't believe it was announced here. It's a DEAL because Swatches is an amazing free assortment of over 500 sounds. The new one includes sounds from All That Jazz, Insomnia, and Transmutation. Insomnia is interesting, Daniel Stawczyk using Lounge Lizard to produce things like brass, organs and synths. Also, I believe it's the first time I've seen this dialog during an A|A|S installation:

  18. Sidechains and auxes are just different sides of the same problem. Internally they are buses. In Cakewalk when you send to a sidechain its sending to a hidden sidechain bus, Thats how multiple tracks can send to the same sidechain.

  19. NO WAY! 🙃 I always blame it on, and quote @Bapu "Post count, and VST count, matter not..." t

  20. Yes bouncing with source category buses works because the logic for bouncing buses is different from bouncing tracks. Track bounce only includes the signal flow from selected tracks whereas buses automatically take into account the upstream signal flow. The export process behind the scenes rewires the entire project routing based on the mix options. I plan to extend similar behavior to tracks and aux tracks when exporting but it will require some work.

  23. Additional licenses for multiple machines might make sense. Another reason more likely reason is just to get another set of freebies (makes sense if you get an especially good deal). There's an exception to the above. Purchases of *collections* via gear credits are also resellable after 90 days (had to read the fine print). Check directly in My Products--you might be pleasantly surprised. My GC purchase of AmpliTube 5, under Serials/License, shows "Products cannot be transferred until after 90 days of ownership." So, in Custom Shop, if it's under Collections (under AmpliTube, T-RackS, or SampleTank), then it should be resellable (eventually).

  24. 'ello all, It's amazing how long I've been at this AND how much I still have no idea what I'm doing half the time -Lolz! I'm hoping to get some ears on this and some ideas regarding final tweaks before 'mastering'. Any and all are welcome and will be considered, I'd very much appreciate your time. Thanks and be well, Ron

  28. I have the Native Reverb Bundle too. I paid $233 for it in 2016 that was a 50% off sale IIRC. Back in the day I wanted the Native Effects Bundle too but never got around to it. Today at BestService it's $145 and I have $4.95 is best coin. So I bought it just "to be in compliance" as Steve Buscemi said in Fargo, I also had some cash back on the CC I used so that was an added bonus.

  30. E.g., SampleTron 2 is not in TS3M I haven't done all the calculations but if the GB is extended a month and gets close to the 20 range, 2 or 3 entries in the GB at the right price points and using all the right tricks already mentioned earlier in this thread (buying something that will let you qualify for crossgrades first, gear credits, the Groove3 coupon, jampoints), this GB may be a better deal than TS3M at BF prices

  33. From what I understand Amplitude crossgrades/upgrades are available to anyone who has a $99+ product in their account. You do not even have to own a previous version of Amplitude.

  34. There is an option to shrink the size of the QCEQ in the Console View Options menu under ProChannel called Compact EQ module. Read about it here http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=0x22029

  37. Thanks a lot, @Will_Kaydo! 👍 Seems to work great! 😀 Ah, the concept requires that the track you want to bounce ("original track") is routed to an intermediary bus, before going to Master, and the you bounce with the intermediary bus as source. (If it goes straight to Master, you will get the sidechain source audio mixed in.) I think this is a faster and cleaner way, than the way described in the Cakewalk documentation. To not hi-jack this thread, I have continued that discussion here. Thanks again, Will!

  40. why? you can use guitar vst or loops, no need to learn and practise and more time to collect plugins, cabs, impulses... And one day you will have them all

  41. 1. That's as cheap as it gets 2. Because you already own a $99.99 product, the price is reduced from the regular price to the "Crossgrade" price Now, if you REALLY want to go "Cheap" take the Arc 3 Software only option as a FREEBIE, and then buy the Mems Mic for $70 - 30% Jampoints = $49

  42. I was listening to Classic Vinyl on XM a couple weeks ago and they played this. The DJ told the story of the song. The leader of the group caught the bass player moonlighting with another band and wrote this about the bass player. The opening is a bass solo.

  43. For people who don't have full Kontakt... I have always said that the best first two purchases for anybody starting out are Omnisphere and Full Kontakt. As soon as you have Full Kontakt you have access to hundreds of really great libraries for free. Also, a lot of the very best paid libraries are only available with Full Kontakt. And as people have said, most libraries released since the fall of 2020 require Kontakt 6. The two best ways to get Kontakt are either 1) get it now for $124.50 or 2) get it with Komplete.
