  3. I've spent $160 on BFD 3 and 6 expansions. For that kind of money SD3 does not even wave at you.

  5. Yes. That's what I do with the old ones. I gave one to my wife as an xmas gift a few years ago. She was not amused. ;-)

  6. ... and deal with cleaning after install as it is still not providing way to forbid to install all possible versions. They are not to clever or maybe they don't care about user experience too much.. I created long time ago ticket to support for this improvement but they don't care... Prefer have less work. Users can care themselves about order and meaning...

  8. I am only an occasional studio one user but from the videos on the add-ons might guess: the new Retro Mix Legends consoles are likely Alpine=API, Brit Console=SSL (two variants, "warm" 80s = 4000E and more pristine=9000J? but that's just a guess), and Porta=Tascam Portastudio which is an unique choice The CTC-1 has a vintage british console that is probably Neve, and a british tube console from the 50s housed in "one of the most popular recording studios in the world;" maybe the EMI REDD at Abbey Road? The Custom console, they say, is a "frankenstein" of various consoles and sounds hi-fi.

  9. Okay. I’m in as well I guess. Paying $250 for the KU13CE upgrade with at least 25 new toys should be pretty, pretty good.

  10. Me too!! I am going to pass on this. But it is a cheaper way to get to Komplete than the $599 they wanted a few hours ago. Free Kontakt Player + Qualifying expansion = $130 to upgrade to Kontakt full. Then upgrade to Komplete for $199. Total around $325

  13. The entity with whom you had the contract, the Cakewalk division of Gibson Brands, no longer exists. However, you are entitled to continue to use SONAR, it doesn't require any reactivation. The core program and plethora of add-ons that you paid for should continue to function just as they did when you bought your license. Cakewalk by BandLab is licensed under a completely new and different licensing agreement. It's a free subscription that requires contacting BandLab's server once every 6 months to re-subscribe. BandLab is not affiliated with Gibson Brands or the defunct Cakewalk company. It bought some of the liquidated assets including the code for Cakewalk's old SONAR program and has now issued it under the name Cakewalk by BandLab. It has nothing to do with SONAR except for being still mostly derived from the old SONAR code and being compatible with SONAR projects and workflow. You have the choice to use SONAR under the old license terms or Cakewalk under the new license terms or even switch back and forth between both of them (if you take care to avoid certain Cakewalk by BandLab features that never existed in SONAR). Cakewalk will utilize the extra software and content that came with SONAR. There is no conflict legally or technologically.

  14. Just ordered from T&S for the Komplete 13 upgrade. They contacted me right away. They currently don't have stock but are hoping to get it by the end of the week. They are going to send me my serial before they ship. I have had nothing but good experiences with T&S. They seem to go out of their way to serve their customers.

  15. Caveat Emptor! The good, as usual, is in the sounds…in my view the best in the business. The bad, as usual, is that InMusic has taken an imperfect and somewhat wonky app and turned it into an operational disaster. Their second “update” broke my BFD setup totally and luckily I was able to roll back to the last Fxpansion version. Drew is tremendous, but otherwise support is pretty useless. And, at least so far, they’ve made the app non-operational if offline. 😖

  18. btw the BFD inmusic thing is a bit of a disaster zone at the moment......I'm not saying it's not worth $49.99 but it has quite a lot of issues so expect some pain if you upgrade......eg you'll lose access to the BFD2 core library I'm not sure if those PB libraries are FXpansion or BFDDrums - maybe it doesn't matter...but there are two different licence servers...PB will sort out any issues of course. Incidentally Superior Drummer 3 is working beautifully ...although not at $49.99 EDIT ...Monomox beat me to the bad news.

  19. Regarding updates, I think it's a binary decision - keep everything updated, or nothing updated. The eLicenser is indeed problematic, but just reinstall the software and you're back in action. Same with iLok. Native Access and Waves Central update automatically, which is great. When you open them, they often update themselves before proceeding. Also be aware that you can roll back Windows updates...wait a week or two, and try again. I know how frustrating it is to have something that once worked all of a sudden not work. 99% of the time, I just need to check for updates in whatever is causing the problem. It's also worth checking the drivers. For the other 1%, there's nothing I can do - like when it took forever for Propellerheads to develop a 64-bit ReWire library. I had gone from a 32-bit to 64-bit OS, and all I could do was sit around and wait. A final piece of advice: getting frustrated makes solving the problem less likely. Take a deep breath, and think for a bit - if you're having problems with the eLicenser, re-install the eLicenser software. If an audio interface is acting up, check for new drivers. The solutions are out there, and finding them shouldn't be too much of a speed bump. At least it's less of a speed bump than aligning your tape bias and EQ every time you load a new reel of tape The reality is that recording systems always required maintenance. The big studios had techs, so the artists didn't have to think about it. Now, you have to be your own tech. That definitely interferes with making music, but it's the price you pay for having the equivalent of a $250,000 physical studio sitting on a hard drive.

  23. Why would they come on forums when in the HipHop or EDM genres, theres thousands of new mixing concepts on youtube used by popular nominated young genius producers/mixing and mastering engineers giving tips on Youtube? Also CbB lacks one cruscial tool "A sample editor." The importance of tranposing an 808 or any sample to them with a built-in editor without using third plugins for this -- thats the 1st thing they ask for in a DAW (Can you transpose samples?) This puts you off from convincing them to get onboard, cause you know what the answer will be. I'm satisfied with CbB. I Started using Sonar LE in my early 20's when FL Studio was already sitting at number one in studios in those genre's. Most tracks you heard then - seen on TV and that won awards in the EDM and HipHop genre's were strictly made / recorded / and mixed in FL.

  24. Not sure what you paid, but a lot of people got v3 for $25 (thanks to sale plus vouchers) and then are now offered v4 for $99. Well that has to be cheaper total cost than any option that was available to GP customers, right? Overall PA has some of the best pricing in the business for the quality of plugins once you get on the train, I don't see how many people can fault them for that.

  30. For $10 it's worth adding to my glitchmachine collection. </curmudgeon mode=on> The Windows installer is a totally non-intuitive, minimalist piece of garbage. It doesn't tell you crap. Unless you've read the User Guide (and who reads the UG just to install a plugin?) you're left wondering WTF happened and how did I bollix that up? Looks like the only VST installed is a 64 bit VST3 version. If there is a VST2 version is installed I haven't found it yet looking in the usual places and I don't feel like searching my whole system for it. When you run the VST3 it'll ask for the sample folder location which you'll need to have manually placed somewhere. As far as installing things the User Guide only has minimal info on installing - for example doesn't tell you what VSTs get installed. A real installer could have done the whole job elegantly. Or at least displayed coherent instructions. </curmudgeon mode=off>

  32. I'm going to pass on getting Komplete too. I don't need any of their Effects and Synths. I have better equivalents. As far as samples go, I already have a ton of samples which include samples from Computer Music Magazine, Ultimate RMX 30K Bundle, Reason 11 Suite, MPC2, IK Sampletank SE, plus all the free ones I downloaded over time. Add that plus the factory library of Kontakt full and whatever I got for UVI Workstation and Falcon. I think I'm good LOL! If I ever need anything more I would just get it separately. My physical modeling REs/VSTs do help fill in a lot of gaps though.

  36. If I may crash this party and kick some gear around and piss on the floor? 🦂 With the possible exception of the BBC orchestra, I honestly think Spitfire's "instruments" are overprocessed/saturated aural garbage. I'm not a professional composer, but if I were, the only use I could think of for stuff like Albion-anything would be quick sketching/prototyping and checking with the commissioner to validate soundscape or compositional ideas on a very general level and in very broad strokes. From there on out, I would proceed to replace them with more expressive and controllable instruments to produce actual music instead of the melodic ambient noise that is Spitfire's "big" sound. As a hobbyist, I can think even less uses for this stuff, and by less I mean exactly zero. I also suspect that precisely the sort of "press C3 for epic" virtual "instruments" that the Spitfire products represent must have contributed to the dullness and unimaginativeness of contemporary film music. I'm confused and angered by how BORING the "EPIC" conveyor belt music presented in most current productions is, and why myself and approximately the rest of the world seem to disagree (or that's just what I assume). Music has become increasingly sophisticated noise. Sorry about the rant, but not sorry, because F'em.

  37. Been waiting for this deal to crossgrade from Kontakt Player. Missed it the last couple of times, for various reasons... But just nailed the crossgrade to Kontakt 6 for $124.50 plus tax! I had several qualifying libraries, but NI picked out my old Kompakt Sony Acid Pro OEM license from like forever ago as the qualifier for this crossgrade deal, LOL!!! No complaints, but thought that was really funny! 😂

  38. If I ever release a sample pack I'm going to say I had to go all the way down to Mariana Trench to record some deep-sea sub oscillations and sounds from undiscovered life forms, when it was all actually made in my tub with a rubber duck.

  39. Why does everyone feel entitled to free upgrades of major versions after they paid $25? Maybe it's time to look in the mirror? That said, running a sale on the previous version two weeks prior to releasing the next - without announcing the next version - would be a scumbag move and say a lot about how the company views you, the customer; you're a dumb, dead resource. Give them the same treatment!
