  2. Just wanted to update, AAS did finally get back to me about the crashing on exit their 4.40 update series were causing. They sent me a hot fix test build and it fixes my crash issue. Not sure when it will be released into the world, but I'm pretty happy they are fixing it. I may have to add CV-1 to complete my collection.

  5. It's a very powerful and versatile synth. Well worth $49 or even $99. Of course it depends on what else you have but it will add to most people's sound pallet.

  6. A lot of nice little details in the current update: 2021.04. Wave pictures have more details. If you have too many plugins like I do (1057) they now break into separate columns, so none of that endless scrolling to get to the bottom of the list. Just started seeing the changes. I am so happy with this program; can really fly and get things produced; I would pay so much for it if it wasn't free. I have Studio One 5 and Cubase 11..0.20 and rarely open them. Open them just to update. Cakewalk user since 2.0.

  8. Or you could subscribe to Readly for one month. That would get you every issue of Computer Music back to March 2015. It will take a crazy amount of time but you can add all of them to FileSilo. You also get Beat magazine in German and English back to July 2020. While many of the offers have expired or are no longer redeemable, it's a crazy amount of magazine wear. And I think Readly is offering two months free now, so you might be able to sign up and then cancel (don't hold me to that they have a lot of promotion deals and the terms may have tricks) https://us.readly.com/ They also have a ton of other computer music magazines, including Electronic Musician, Future Music, Music Tech and lots of instrument magazines like Guitar Player, etc. Yes it's $10 a month, but at least for me it's worth it. The only major computer music magazine they don't have is Sound On Sound.

  9. There are some plug-ins in that collection that are crazy good. Unfiltered Audio G8 CM, JST/Boz Sidewidener, OverTone PTH2A-CM, HY-FX CM, Audiorealism ADM CM are my favorites. There's also quite a treasure chest of sample packs.

  20. Using NoteMapper, RandARP and FM8 (I don't have Dexed installed but I don't think it actually matters what the final audio synth is) I was able to reproduce your bug. The inter-track midi routing is lost when loading the track template. In case Cakewalk needs them those MIDI generating synths are all freely available on the net.

  22. Thanks for your thoughts and for the opportunity to clarify. My initial reason for showing the image here was to suggest that if vision/size/resizing is a concern, potential buyers might want to wait until there are some changes to CV-1 to use their 15-day trial. Today I started to assemble some images to show more. I have a draft of a CV-1 within VM within CbB that shows a comparison. So far as I can tell, the nested images reflect the size of CV-1 in standalone mode as well. Yes, I tried those panel controls, but on my PC they just changed the visibility of the left/right/bottom panels. I also tried the resizing triangle in the lower right hand corner of the frame (both within Cakewalk and CV-1 standalone). As for resizing, I much prefer that software handles that itself; I really don't like to change my monitor settings to adapt to software. On my PC some plug-ins can be resized within CbB by changing the size of the plug-in frame. Some plug-ins don't. Some have artifacts and behave badly when resized. In my experience on my PC, CV-1's content doesn't resize within CbB or in standalone mode. The frame gets bigger but the plug-in's visual content stays the same size. This might vary on other PCs. One of my concerns was a comment that CV-1 might make a good starter software modular to learn on. That was also part of my reasoning for addressing the resizing issue. As I mentioned, I like the crispness of many of the AAS sounds I have (based mostly on the free AAS Player, the Session series, and VA-3). Yesterday I listened to the CV-1 sounds and those have a similar crispness. In fact, I have tested a number of those as plug-ins within VM's plug-in hosts. To me they all work well within VM's control environment. I assume AAS will work on improving CV-1.

  26. @Noel Borthwick Thanks for your reply. Yes, Cakewalk reported the crash of VST plugin, as you assumed (see my screenshot). As I already mentioned, previous versions of Cakewalk (including the latest preview) did't reported this, started right with this new update. I didn't observe any misbehavior of these plugins within previous Cakewalk versions, but as you stated, it doesn't mean that there were no issues. I also don't observe any problem with these plugins in other hosts / daws, so maybe specific combination of these u-he fx vst3s and Cakewalk? Maybe something specific about how DAW feeds state data to plugin during it's initialization? Anyway, I'm also attaching the minidump file, unfortunatelly, I'm unable to analyze it by myself. I'll also send it to u-he with specific info on DAW (Cakewalk version), so they can analyze this scenarios. From my point of view, it looks like there is some issue with plugin instance state "deserialization" during plugin initialization phase? I also tried this: - Uninstalled VST3 version of Presswerk from my PC (actually moved .vst3 files out of the vst3 folder). - Loaded Cakewalk project containing this plugin into DAW (project did load successfully, with plugin instances placeholders). - I saved FX chain state to fxc file (also attached - FX1.zip), assuming it will save also the plugins state. - Re-installed VST3 files of presswerk while Cakewalk still running, rescanned VSTs, checked Presswek (VST3) is present and enabled). - Loaded FXC file back into bus - it also caused crash of Presswerk VST3 plugin, caught by Cakewalk. Question: Is there anyhow possible for me to restore plugin instance state stored within existing cakewalk project, so I can set parameters of the VST2 instance of this plugin with exactly same values? Unfortunatelly I didn't same the plugin state as standalone preset and I want to try restore Presswerk and Satin settings using VST2 instances. Thank you, Noel, and wish you all the best. 2021-02-25_05012021_191305.dmp.zip FX1.zip

  34. The latest version of Cakewalk crashes everytime during load of a project with u-he Presswerk or Sating (both the latest available versions) in FX slots. With previous Cakewal beta / preview everything worked fine. Crash occurs on project load and only with VST3 versions of plugins. When I use VST2 versions, projects load without crash. I also tried to create new project with these plugins - successfully added these VST3 plugins, everything works, project successfully saved, but anly project load attempt causes crash every single try. Other VST3 plugins don't cause crash on project load. In other DAW (Studio One) projects with these VST3 pugins also load correctly. Actually I'm unable to load my recent Cakewalk work where I use these u-he VST3 plugins. I can provide minidump files from cakewalk. I love other improvements anyway! Great work and keep going.

  36. You can find an old comparison chart between SONAR & Cakewalk by BandLab here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AwrivrPMMqFyAnbRfV03U2ki00VwOJNHeFXolbyyzKA/edit#gid=0 The current (2021.04) release, also includes the following: Cakewalk Classic Effects Suite: Alias Factor, Compressor/Gate, HF Exciter, Modfilter, Multivoice Chorus/Flanger, Para-Q, Tempo Delay ... and also Channel Tools and the PC2A pro channel module.

  38. For USB devices, the establishment of uniqueness depends on the type of device. Disks and many other device types have unique identifiers down to the serial number of the individual device. Unfortunately, the USB MIDI class was defined without a serial number, just vendor ID and product ID. So two devices of the same make and model are not distinguishable. Can they be distinguished by which hub and port they are plugged in? Maybe, so don't ever shuffle them. Do Cakewalk and Windows do everything that could be done to uniquely identify devices, I'm not sure. But it's definitely an imperfect situation in the USB MIDI specs.

  39. Did you insert the TTS-1 with the Instrument Track per Output checked in the Insert Soft Synth Options? When you do, it creates 4 tracks for each output. Then you go into the TTS-1 settings and assign each "Part" to an output. You then route those 4 to some master or main output. You can insert audio effects on each track but you are stuck with any/all Parts sent to that output going through the same effects. You can alternately, assign each midi track to an output one by one, freeze it, copy that to a new track and keep going until each one has it's own track and therefore can have it's own audio effect. Your questions imply you missed a step somewhere.

  41. This is a good deal, but they often come in bigger packs for not too much money. So if you can afford to wait for Black Friday, you may be able to get most, if not all of them. But this is certainly well worth 19 euros and will make you want the others... I'm hoping that Audiofier will do an acoustic set of Riffendium someday.

  43. These are slightly different versions of the same DAW with different content developed and sold by Cakewalk. SONAR Platinum was their flagship product. In 2017, Gibson Brands, the company that owns Cakewalk, shut down operations. It is unlikely that Gibson will restart Cakewalk or update their products. In 2018, BandLab Technologies purchased Cakewalk IP from Gibson and hired some of the old Cakewalk staff. Using the code base for SONAR Platinum, BandLab released Cakewalk by BandLab. Other than the price, the main difference between SONAR Platinum sold in 2017 and Cakewalk by BandLab released in 2018 is the bundled content. Platinum included a different loop library and more plug-ins. BandLab continues to update and support Cakewalk by BandLab. Updates happen every couple of months. They just released an update this month Most of the content bundled with old Cakewalk DAWS is not locked to the DAW and maybe used in any DAW. However, there are a few items that are locked to the DAW and will not work outside of the product-line that included them. These items still work in Cakewalk by BandLab.

  44. I've come across many brands of loops and Magix is the only one I know that are not royalty free. I wasn't really impressed with Magix loops. Back when Acid was under Sonic Foundry then Sony there was some really impressive stuff and you don't see those anymore. I only buy stuff that comes also with midi, presets and one shots. I use to be a sucker during the holidays when ADSR would have 15 packs for $20. They aren't complete songs but maybe 30 sec. of music. They have their uses for a commercial or a DJ needs filler stuff. They can be frustrating to work with because you can't get them to sound the way you want. I often get them to study. I find the ones that are bloated to 3gb are not always as useful as one that are 700mb. After NI acquired Loop Loft it seems like they are forgotten. The Loop Loft weekly offer was a big thing in Deals.
