  2. Honestly, if I were Larry, I'd want to take a break from feeling it was expected that I post every deal out there. Wouldn't blame him for being burned out on having to live up to expectations.

  3. The SlickEQ and Nova plugin families have been updated. You can find detailed changelogs at the bottom of this email. This update accumulates several patches silently released in the past weeks, introduces a fixed latency mode, improves the main EQ display's options and context menus, and brings other small enhancements. Particularly interesting for geeks is a new experimental feature now found in SlickEQ and SlickEQ GE, allowing to reconfigure the UI controls and even build your own EQ models. This whole process is documented in a dedicated tech article here: https://docs.tokyodawn.net/slickeq-custom-models-guide/ If that's too confusing, don't worry. Similar to how SmartOps developed, we plan to greatly improve the usability of this feature in a future update. As always, freeware can be updated by downloading and running the latest installers: https://www.tokyodawn.net/tokyo-dawn-labs/ Customers find updated installers in their libraries: https://store.tokyodawn.net TDR Nova 2.1.2 Maintenance update # VST3 format compatibility fixes # Logic 10.5 compatibility fixes # Added "Fixed Latency" mode # Added "Analyzer Speed" control # EQ display context menu extended # Small graphical improvements TDR Nova GE 2.1.2 Maintenance update # VST3 format compatibility fixes # Logic 10.5 compatibility fixes # Added "Fixed Latency" mode # Added "Show Reference Curve" command to Smart Operations # Added "Analyzer Speed" control # Small graphical improvements TDR VOS SlickEQ 1.3.4 Maintenance update # VST3 format compatibility fixes # Logic 10.5 compatibility fixes # User-defined EQ models (see https://docs.tokyodawn.net/slickeq-custom-models-guide/ ) TDR VOS SlickEQ GE 1.3.4 Maintenance update # VST3 format compatibility fixes # Logic 10.5 compatibility fixes # Added "Show Reference Curve" command to Smart Operations # User-defined custom models (see https://docs.tokyodawn.net/slickeq-custom-models-guide/ ) TDR SlickEQ M 2.0.2 Maintenance update # VST3 format compatibility fixes # Logic 10.5 compatibility fixes # Added "Fixed Latency" mode # Added "Show Reference Curve" command to Smart Operations # Reduced the CPU usage of "Mixed phase" mode

  7. Been teaching myself guitar for a few months now. I can solo the easier pieces but it's really hard to play along with a backing track. I don't know why, just feel rushed or something. But I pushed myself to record something decent enough to post on the forum so here it is (there are a few timing issues I know). Also I don't use a pick - just can't get the hang of them. And I really appreciate now what it takes to play guitar like so many of you can do so well! Fairly simple 12 bar blues in good old E7-A7-B7. I changed the usual blues lyric subjects to stuff I found online from a current fix-your-relationship type book. So I call it Psychobabble Blues. I'm going to regret posting this I know. 😁 Lyrics can be found at Sound Cloud.

  9. BOOM Library is celebrating 10 years and have marked their Cinematic Metal bundle (includes both the designed and full construction kit) to $10 https://www.boomlibrary.com/sound-effects/cinematic-metal/ Not sure I need 4000+ metal impact sound effects, but I couldn't pass up the discount. Their site also seems to indicate their will be other celebration deals.

  13. Just because you haven't learned to use it is no reason to project and say it's unusable. It's unusable FOR YOU. I don't like spinach, that's a subjective truth. But I cannot say that spinach is objectively bad, I can only say I don't like it. I used Digital Performer's QuickScribe for 18 months, every day. It's not any better than Cakewalk; it has a few features that are better, but Cakewalk has features that are better for composition for me. How could a classically-trained composer who has produced 14 albums and over 750 soundtrack cues work in the staff view if it's "unusable"? Maybe I know something you don't? Try to recognize the difference between a subjective evaluation, which you're certainly entitled to, and a overgeneralized sweeping statement that doesn't take into account the experience of others.

  20. That pop up means the installer is checking OS prior to executing, so it won't install at all if not Win10 (without a hack). I wouldn't deal with the trouble if not on Win10. Not supported makes sense, but not installable is not very common.

  21. Now $89 with coupon DIGIFQ20 https://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/Product_MB7Mixer/ MB-7 is a multiband tool, for splitting a signal into frequency bands, applying effects, then mixing the results. 30 built-in effects plus external plugin support (even different format, e.g., hosting VSTs in the AAX version, VST3s in the VST2 version, etc). Nice details like latency compensation, linking, M/S control and sidechain routing.

  24. No Details on EastWest's downloads page http://www.soundsonline.com/Support?section=updates They usually list something... Maybe they'll update it with more info later. Maybe they just want to remind everyone of their current sale (up to 60% off). The following is all they list. PLAY 6.1.9 PLAY 6.1.9 upgrade is for Mac users running OS X 10.7 or higher, and for Windows users running 7 and above. PLAY 6.1.9 is now available for free to all EastWest customers. 27. Note that if you are both a Red Room customer and own Cinemorphx/Morphestra you will get two different coupons, but can only use one of them -- yes, I tried. It also requires the full version of Kontakt. Which seems to be SampleLogic's new thing. The sale price is $249.99 and if you get the discount coupon you get $50 off. The coupons look custom (they aren't generic) but if anyone want's to try here's the one I didn't use: RRA-4gh4-4OfR-omd2-SAI

  33. That's a really cool feature they've open up to the users. But it will be REALLY difficult after the fact (without looking at pics) to tell which parameters are which. i.e. Pultec Preset in the document. They need to add a UI piece to those parameters. Still a really cool idea though and I'm sure they'll come up with something brilliant.

  37. To be fair, Cinematic came out after the Full version with the Direct DI, Crunch and Hi-Gain, and it's really just the Direct DI run through an effects chain and then resampled. You can probably get a similar sound by running the DI through a transient shaper, tape saturation, clean amps, a soft LPF, a couple of reverbs and then delay.

  41. @ADUS As the Cakewalk Dance was popular with African Americans how can the company be accused of being racist? Surly that is promoting people of colour. If one wants to one can find any phrase or comment and turn it into a racist comment or phrase, it says more about the person who brings it to our attention than the comment or phrase itself. As I understand it also refers to a note progression popular in the Twelve Tone form of music. Historically Cakewalk Music Software was written by the Company formed by Greg Hendershot called Twelve Tone Inc. This thread has crossed the political line and will therefore be locked.

  42. Anyone using CNN as a "source" needs to start using their brain instead. I've saved several instances where they literally show the exact opposite of what really happened (I save the actual video as well). They've gotten so bad (especially after some videos of their employees talking have come to light) that they are close to losing their "news" designation and may soon have to be called an "entertainment" channel. Since this thread will be locked down very soon, I thought about this, decided against it, then changed my mind again. Here are MY opinions, which I have no problem standing behind: First a short story. We used to have an immigration attorney firm as one of our IT clients (I met lots of good people there over the last four years). Needless to say, their staff is made up of many different colors and cultures. Once, as I was walking by the front desk, there were about a dozen people chatting and the main receptionist made the comment "Well, Craig's not a racist!" I stopped and corrected her. "Actually, I must admit I AM a racist!" (That got a few breath intakes.) She figured I was probably joking and pointed at one of the attorneys down the hall who happens to be black and said "What? You have a problem with someone like Kenny?" To which I replied "No, we're the same race!" She naturally followed with "But, he's black and you're not..." So I explained: "Black and white are only colors. We're both from the human race. I just have a problem accepting extra-terrestrials." That made several of them chuckle and then go "Ahh..." They had never thought of it that way. Next, a second story from about 25 years ago. As I was walking by a large cubicle, someone said "Hey, let's ask Craig!" So, this one young lady (who was black, a prior model and a sharp business analyst) asks me "Do you ever watch BET?" I replied that I didn't have a clue what that channel was. She looked at the others and said "See?" then turned to me and said it was Black Entertainment Television. So I told her that I would never watch a racist channel. It had never even occurred to her that the name of the channel itself was the very definition of racism. I told her that the test was simple: What would happen if a channel called White Entertainment Television was created? People would be in an outrage. The discussion went on to the very popular term (back then) of African-American and whether that sounded better than saying "black." I replied that there was nothing wrong with it for those with dual citizenship from those countries. She smirked a little and asked "So, I shouldn't call myself that?" I asked where she lived in Africa fully knowing that she was born and raised in the good 'ol U. S. of A. (in fact she's related to a baseball player, ended up marrying one and has both Mohammed Ali's daughter and Ken Norton's daughter as two of her best friends). She said that it didn't have to mean you had citizenship, that it indicated a cultural heritage. My reply was "Ah, ok. In that case, please refer to me as a Dutch-English-American then." Then, after her puzzled, but inquiring pause, I added "What? Do we all look alike?" That got a good laugh but, as I said, she was a very sharp girl and liked the points made. As an interesting addendum to that last story, if you go back far enough into history, then we're ALL supposed to be "out of Africa" since that's supposedly the birth place of humans (sorry "Native Americans," but you're just older immigrants to America - via the ice bridge between Alaska and Russia from what I've read). The final nail in my coffin might be this: I look at everything going on and it ALL screams of an agenda. Everything is backwards. You have a bunch (of well meaning and, from what I've seen, nice) enthusiastic people wanting to be anti-racist while aligning themselves in a racist group (for the same reasons mentioned above). You have another bunch of soon-to-be prison inmates going around claiming to be anti-Facists when they are the very definition of Facism. Next you get a lot of glorification for a convicted criminal, repeat offender who happened to get murdered (yes, murdered) during the process of committing a Federal crime while on drugs and resisting arrest. In case you don't know, both Floyd and the officer that killed him worked at the same nightclub (Floyd as a bouncer and Chauvin as security in his off-time). There's no way in my mind that they didn't know each other and I wouldn't be surprised if the charges get rightly upgraded to 1st degree murder. If you look at Chauvin's record, he has a lot of complaints (18?) with some requiring disciplinary action. Neither should be used as examples for anything let alone what they've been painted to stand for. We're ALL originally from the same stock (unless you also believe that there was a second, master race - which there IS some evidence of...). Our uniqueness in color, cultural heritage and spirituality/religion is currently being used against us purely to cause division. As Julius Cesar said, "Divide and conquer!" I have faith in mankind (which, also, is NOT a sexist statement... *sigh...*) that eventually people will resume thinking for themselves and realize who the real puppet-masters are and what they're trying to do to everyone else. Unfortunately, we're dealing with more than one generation that has been seriously brain-washed primarily by school teachers and mass media into being idiotic sheep. 90% of the comments I read on various social sites merely spit out opinions that were provided by mass media, the vast majority of which are exactly opposite of reality. Oh well... there's so much more, but I think I've sealed the lock, ya? And you now have my opinion on all this stupidity.
