  3. Check it out: ROOTS a New FREE Instrument Series From Westwood Instruments So from my understanding Native Instruments is not charging developers for FREE Kontakt 7 instruments up to a certain number of serial keys. I think this is definitely a move on Native Instrument’s part to help encourage users to use Kontakt 7. A heads up would be to keep your eyes looking across the pond for another amazing free instrument, but don’t stare too long as you wouldn’t want those baby blues to get “Fractured”. 😎 See you Thursday

  11. https://www.westwoodinstruments.com/roots/ I've Bapu'd it and can vouch for its usefulness for evolving dark ambient and cinematic textures. I'd say that between this and Soundpaint's free libraries, you've got ambient drone-in-box. And it looks as if Westwood will be doing what others have started doing and releasing future free Player instruments in this line, so sign up for their newsletter if you want to stay informed. Kontakt-aware peeplz: did NI change the licensing for Player instruments recently? Because I'm starting to see a LOT more Player-compatible instruments for free. It used to be that the creator of any Player-compatible instrument had to cough up a fee to NI for doing so. Has that been relaxed? If so, good idea, because it's an excellent way to raise interest in Kontakt. Always has been, they just botched it. I wouldn't have installed or been aware of Kontakt if it hadn't been for DrumMic'a back in the day. Unfortunately, Sennheiser eventually decided it wasn't worth it and stopped issuing licenses. DrumMic'a was both an excellent free drum instrument and also worked for its intended use as a showcase for Sennheiser's line of microphones.

  13. Mike/Creative Sauce is a very likeable guy who does a good job at making helpful and entertaining YouTube content. I just hope that Sonar doesn't go subscription-only with Sonar, so that they'll be plenty of reasons for me to enjoy Mike's new channel (if not, he also has a Studio One channel...).

  15. Hi We just launched the sixth track off our Kiss of Storms album. It’s called Consternation. Sorry about the age restriction issue - YouTube got all uptight about something once again but I honestly could not be bothered to fight them yet again - I think my next song should be about censorship in the 2020's!!!! If anyone spots something in the Video that they think could be the reason why Youtube age restricted the video and also blocked comments, I would love to know. Anyway, I hope you are all old enough to watch it 😎 and I Hope you enjoy it. You can see the lyrics here https://devinelie.com/kiss-of-storms/consternation/ And the whole album is available on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/27iKYYjlWOT2Ku0ltzSEKB We’ve updated our website as well – we’ve got our own store now where you can get music and merchandise!! https://devinelie.com

  16. Review: https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2024/04/23/ostirus/ D/L: https://dsp56300.wordpress.com/ostirus-downloads/ Note: As with all previous releases, the emulator itself is free. However, you do have to provide a legally acquired Virus Ti firmware file to make the most of it. If you can swing that, you’re in for one of the best softsynths in recent memory.

  18. I have really been enjoying collaborating lately on remakes of some classic cover tunes. This is the latest offering with some friends over on Bandlab. Bass maestro Fabian Bono asked me to sing vocals on this fun and funky late 80's tune by the group Curiosity Killed The Cat. I didn't know it at all, and it was definitely outside of my usual wheelhouse as far as style and genre goes. Anyway, I dove in with both feet, and really ended up having a blast stretching out of my comfort zone! I also ended up doing the brass/horns as well, and was actually quite happy with the way they came out. As before with this setup, I did my tracks in Cakewalk, they did theirs variously and posted them on BandLab. I then brought them into CW to mix and master. Truly international cast on this: Fabian on bass (Argentina), Susan on drums (Australia), Mario on guitar (Italy), Mikey on keys/organ (UK), and Angie on BGV's (US). Enjoy! https://www.bandlab.com/post/9004dda4-f0fb-ee11-aaf0-000d3aa5105b

  21. Usually, you just drag a .dspreset file into Decent Sampler to install it. When I dragged the dozen or so pad preset files into DS, they were available in the browser for that session, but weren't saved when I reopened DS. I suggest the alternate (and actually easier) install method. Click on the "Brower" button top left and the select the Earthquake Sounds from the Sample Store tab. They will install from there and be saved into a folder in the browser. What may have happened is that I dragged all the files as a group into DS, and wasn't offered the Install option. I didn't try dragging the folder itself into DS. It's not worth spending any more time on it since the alternate method worked. BTW, there are some nice, interesting pads included. Worth the free download and use in the free sampler! 👍

  24. There were several posts on the old forums in the X3 days, but I did a quick check of the ones easily found and the links are no longer valid. @Clovis Ramsay has this thread from 2021 that has even more info, but the link to the drum map itself (on Google Drive) is not functioning for me. Maybe they will get a ping from this post and can help you out. Quick Edit: I clicked the "Download All" in the upper right on Google Drive and that did download everything at once. I couldn't just download the map individually.

  25. Yup...the VST3 to VST2 swap is a good idea...I have to do that with several newer plugs due to the fact that Cake, apparently, doesn't work with all newer VST3s. But that's not the problem here. I finally fixed it by completely removing all sound paths from ST4...making sure that the "custom path" box was checked in the IK Product Manager...and then adding back in only the direct sound paths to ST3, ST4, Syntronic and SampleTron. That did the trick. Thanks to all for the suggestions. I've made note of them all in case this crops up again. 🙂

  26. From one of the comments in the blog: “There are two tape formulas to choose from… ” “My favorite feature is the print-through… ” But as the developer states, “Print though” and “Tape Type” are both not functional. 🤣 Apparently, BPB has been "reviewing" plugins without actually testing them... Also, the meaning of name of the plugin: "Osculum infame is a witch's supposed ritual greeting upon meeting with the Devil. The name means the 'shameful kiss' or 'kiss of shame', since it involved kissing the devil's *****, his "other" mouth. According to folklore, it was this kiss that allowed the Devil to seduce women. " Everything about this plugin appears to be shameful...😂

  28. Greg, you've received some good advice which can help you in the long run. However, without hearing a sample of your vocals, it's nearly impossible to give you precise advice. You might get better help if you posted a sample of your song or vocal for our ears to hear on our systems. I know that many singers don't like the sound of their own voice, yet others might like it anyway. I used to be that way until I discovered that it was my ears that were faulty and not my equipment or room. Eventually, I learned to overcome that disability by posting songs on the song forum, and I learned from a consensus of opinions where my weakness was and made adjustments accordingly. I'm not saying your ears are bad; just that sometimes ears need a little training. It's like getting used to your monitors and knowing their strengths and weaknesses. Good luck!

Got some more digging to do. Lot's of potential. It sure is a good find. Oh, and yes it's worth the asking price for sure!

  35. Hi Jenna I recently had this crop up on one of my sessions. Turns out I had somehow added the metronome output to one of my audio tracks (reverb send) so even though I disabled the metronome track and turned off the 'metronome during playback/record' I was still hearing it faintly in the distance (because of the reverb effect!). Took me forever to isolate it. It may be that you have added the output to some other track by mistake so try muting each track and bus until it stops to isolate the source and go from there. GBT

  42. I get that Tom. I see the 6 packs not so much as discount route (although they still are at $18/per vs $14/per of days gone by) but as a quicker way to get the products to my DAW. Prolly silly, but that's who I am (as The Lovely Lady will tell ya).
