  1. The Cali Coast trip was AMAZING! What a beautiful world the Lord has made! I sailed up the coast from LA to Vancouver, visiting Santa Barbara, Montecito, San Francisco, Astoria, Victoria B.C., and Vancouver B.C., then took the Amtrak Cascades from Vancouver to Seattle and did some sightseeing! I visited the Space Needle, Chihuly Glass Museum, Museum of Pop Culture, Seattle Aquarium, Pike Place Market, and LOTS of photos... MoPop had a LOT of celebrity Guitars and memorabilia, and even the Console owned by Hendrix. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.25932716416319432&type=3

  13. Lets hear how you feel about that one once you hit 79 😆 Sorry about the loss of your friend . I just found out today myself ....This is truly a loss for me considering most of my Jr High School era bands played a lot of the material from the ABB ....sadly I must confess I couldn't cop all the guitar parts back then .I have seen them live shortly after Duane passed on . I love the fact they used to improvise a lot live ! and I still like and listen to their music +1 on liking them better now as opposed to when I was younger ...They put a lot into their music that escaped my young mind and ears .I had to grow up a lot to fully appreciate the talent and genius of their music i. Right On ! all the best Kenny

  15. Yes, you can temporarily change tempo of all the audio, including frozen synths. It's non-destructive and completely reversible, but still best to use a copy of the project: - Ctrl+A to Select All - Go to the Audiosnap section of Clip Properties in the Inspector and check the Enable box. - Select Autostretch in Follow Options - Enable Follow Project and wait for CbB/Sonar to Autostretch-enable all the clips. - Change the tempo. If you like the feel, you can set the optimal offline stretching algorithm for each recorded audio clip and bounce to clip(s) to see if the quality is acceptable for your purposes (generally not for publishing/distribution purposes but okay for a demo). And, of course, the synths can just be unfrozen/refrozen at the new tempo. EDIT: I should add that the quick and dirty way that will be just as effective for the preview is to bounce the Master bus to a track that outputs directly Main Outs, solo it, Autostretch enable just that clip and change the tempo. You might actually find you get fewer artifacts from stretching the master than stretching individual clips and then mixing down.

  16. Hi We just launched the sixth track off our Kiss of Storms album. It’s called Consternation. Sorry about the age restriction issue - YouTube got all uptight about something once again but I honestly could not be bothered to fight them yet again - I think my next song should be about censorship in the 2020's!!!! If anyone spots something in the Video that they think could be the reason why Youtube age restricted the video and also blocked comments, I would love to know. Anyway, I hope you are all old enough to watch it 😎 and I Hope you enjoy it. You can see the lyrics here https://devinelie.com/kiss-of-storms/consternation/ And the whole album is available on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/27iKYYjlWOT2Ku0ltzSEKB We’ve updated our website as well – we’ve got our own store now where you can get music and merchandise!! https://devinelie.com

  34. Many moons ago where I worked we had a dedicated courier collection who come in every day at around 4pm to take the many parcels that would be despatched on a daily basis. This guy's day was a regular delivery round in the am/early pm then he came directly to us and basically didn't leave until we were ready to call it a day. Sometimes if he wanted out of there sooner because he had evening plans he would also help make up the parcels to get things moving quicker. One day, opening the door of his van to help him load up what was usually an empty van I saw he had a huge box on there which if it contained what the box said it was, then it was the latest mucho expensive Yamaha flagship synth. The box appeared to be unmolested and he said that as far as he knew it contained exactly what it said it did. I made the kind of noises that suggested how much I would like one of those and he said that if I wanted it, then I could take it. The reason it was still in there was because it was never supposed to be in his van in the first place and as it didn't appear on his now completed scheduled delivery manifest (he showed it to me) then as far as any records showed he didn't have it, never did have it, so nobody would be expecting him to return with it..... It was very tempting, but I figured that it was too good to be true and would come back to bite me somehow, so I left it there. I have no idea what he's up to these days. but maybe he works for "that" courier now.😀

  35. Note that enabling/disabling the plug-in via the "System" button causes a big gap in the audio: not when doing individual sections of the plug-in (makes little sense to me but there you have it). The input gain makes things very fizzy and unpleasant. Compressor is nice.

  37. Have they no shame? The v3.10.3 installation was just as broken as the previous ones. Twiddler stuck in a forever loop. Close NA. Restart NA. Install Kontakt v7.10.0 update after the 17 updates from yesterday using v3.10.2. Since there was only one program to update, the Update window actually managed to keep up. But, why oh why do I still get the message that they're sending usage data back to their servers when I've disabled that "feature". NI, this isn't hard. Way back in the day (the 1980s), when I did both hardware and software development for use in the oil and gas industry, I couldn't afford such simple mistakes. The only saving grace was that if I blew something up, the explosion also blew up the cause of the explosion. OK, I admit that one time I did blow something up. My product group in Amoco Oil (now BP) had just be authorized to sell outside of the company. The city of DeKalb, IL was installing two new huge elevated water tanks and several new wells. They wanted to switch to off-peak pumping to save significant money on their electricity usage. I was tasked with writing the PC app to control the 10 well pumps while monitoring the levels in the 4 water towers, including the 2 brand new big boys. I coded the app based on the specs written by the city's engineering consultants, the ones who designed the potable water distribution system. After the 14 RTUs (Remote Telemetry Units) were installed on the 10 pumps and 4 tanks and the MTU (Master Telemetry Unit) plus the PC were installed, I showed up with the app I'd written, installed it on the PC and sat with it for a couple of hours (along with the city and engineering bosses) after its 10pm startup (the beginning of the off-peak period). Everything ran great. We shook hands and I drove back to Chicago and went to bed. I was awakened at 3am by a phone call telling me to get back to DeKalb. Apparently, the system had over-pressurized and an old clay pipe from the 1920s had ruptured, blowing a hole big enough that three of the four lanes of the main highway through town were gone. Good lord, but they were angry with me. After a thorough review, the design engineers finally took responsibility, agreeing that my code perfectly conformed to their specs, which they agreed were way too agressive and that they didn't really understand what the hydraulics of the system were after the addition to the 2 new huge towers and 4 new wells. But the explosion revealed a shovel from the 1920s that the director of public works mounted on the wall behind his desk, and they found a "pig" (a large rubber ball that you would insert into the system and run it through to remove buildup in the main water pipes (we used pigs in oil pipelines, too)) that had gone missing decades before. And my reputation was not only intact, but enhanced, so all good for me.

  43. Yep, it's 3.10.3 here. I decided to try to update some products for the first time in months and it's been hours and hours with NA and my Task Manager Open to try to see what is happening. (yes, I've been working on other things while it runs). Some have been updated, but Komplete Kontrol has been a mess to try to update. I now cannot get it to get past the "Loading Products" prompt when I log in. However, sometimes when I start it, it goes straight to my products without any issue. Why the different responses? I have no idea. I could have downloaded and installed all these products in 1/10th the time if I had access to the downloads. The biggest issue is that you have no idea what's going on when it's running. There are no messages. It could be hung-up indefinitely or it might actually just be taking this long to install one item. There's no way to know. So, do I wait for the "Loading Products" prompt to finish or should I end the task and retry it? I don't know. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you one of the biggest players in the software game. Smdh.

  45. You didn't ask for advice, but speaking as someone who has given up making music for years at a time, then come back to it with greater enthusiasm and a different approach, yeah, don't sell your gear. The expensive mics, well maybe. But at least hang on to the minimum. I approach making music these days like a model railroad. It's fun to do in and of itself, and if someone else hears it and likes it, that's a bonus. To me, it's a way of communicating thoughts and feelings that can't be expressed in other ways. Nostalgia, grief, joy, serenity. I "hear" things in my head, or on the radio (mostly Soma.fm and KALX, the UC Berkeley station) and I want to make those sounds. So I do. When I finish a piece, it goes up on Bandcamp and YouTube. One thing I tossed off half a dozen years ago is up to over 600 views on YouTube. Woo-hoo! It's like dropping messages in a bottle. Before the rock star myth descended upon the world, music making was something that was just a part of people's homes. Have a piano, learn to play it, or have friends over who play, sit on the porch with the guitar, making music because it's something cool to do, like painting. You never know when you'll hear a new (to you) form of music and have it trigger a desire to MAKE SOUNDS LIKE THAT (as happened with messrs. Cobain and Mascis). I'm enjoying your album right now....
