  5. Years ago, I created the first collection of IRs of the 480L (sold by SEK'D America as Samplitools IR). Later, I redid them and sold them as ReverbTools. At that time, software based algorithmic Reverb was not particularly good... and was CPU intensive. Convolution was the only way to achieve higher quality Reverb. The limitation with Convolution is that it doesn't capture any of the modulation in the reverb tails. Flash forward to today... Relab's LX480 plugin is bit-accurate recreation of Lexicon's 480L. What comes out is identical to the real 480L. Convolution and IRs can/do produce great sounding ambience. If you're looking for authentic 480L ambience, check out the LX480. https://relabdevelopment.com/lx480-dual-engine-reverb/ The downside, it's not free. 😉 If you're into the Bricasti M7: Seventh Heaven Professional sounds fantastic. https://www.liquidsonics.com/software/seventh-heaven-professional/ We have numerous TV/Film composer clients using it.

  11. If you restrict yourself to just using the BIAB VST plugin, most of the complexity is hidden. You literally pick a style, type in the chords, click Generate and press play within Cakewalk. If you like what you hear, you can drag the audio/MIDI tracks from the plugin on to the track view and work with them as normal clips.

  12. It's not a bug in CW, this is known in GR6 as it fails to receive the S/M command on input after instantiated as a stereo effect. One must pay attention and commit to this prior to inserting. Happens in Cubase as well.

  15. Yep, that's what ya need to do. Just chill for a little while. Some advice, don't sell anything at least for a year. Maybe two. If you just chill, let it come back naturally, you'll remember why you started all this BS. Rush said it best: Put Aside the alienation, get on with the fascination. The real relation, the underlying need. It's what you are. You are the one to please.

  21. Hello All, I am on the UAD website, and I am seeing some really nice deals. I just purchased the The Fairchild Tube Limiter Collection for $39.99 plus tax. The plugins on the low but good side start at $29.99 and go up to $49.99, $79.99 and above. There is no coupon to use for this sale and offers end May 28th. Check it out if you can. 👍

  22. Not to gloat, but yes it was an incredible deal and it was only $142 for everything. . My advice is never buy individual plugins from Universal Audio. If you can afford to do so, buy the bundles when they are sale, Ideally around black Friday. All the new native plugins coming out now will be in the next newly branded bundle for sure.

  29. That's a fact. Twice I've had mine accidentally unplugged mid-song, and I was dead in the water for 2 minutes while it booted back up. Compare to the Nord, which takes < 10 seconds. That's because the Kronos stores libraries on SSDs and transfers a user-specified working set of them into RAM on boot up. The price of having 80GB of storage. And it is a heavy beast. Even worse (~81 lbs) when residing in its plywood flight case. I usually solicit aid from one of my bandmates when moving, setting up and tearing down, lest I do a number on my back. Still, the Kronos has been a real workhorse. Scrolling through the patch list is like scrolling through Omnisphere's enormous selection. I've also added some third-party libraries. So when the band asks if I've got a particular sound in there, I often tell them to check back with me tomorrow. Its UI can be rather obtuse when editing, even for basic things such as routing fx. In performance, though, it's great. The large color touchscreen is the best I've seen on a synth. I can create any number of set lists, organize patches any way I like, color-code, pan, transpose and EQ each slot - all without altering the underlying patches. From what I've read in the Montage manual, its Live Sets are just lists. Will know more after it arrives on Thursday. I think I will, too. Even though I can do the equivalent of Scenes with the Kronos (e.g. I have a bunch of EPs in one set list slot for easy switching/layering), the 8 illuminated buttons on the Montage will be quicker and less error-prone when playing live. In the edit screens, I'm seeing a common UI philosophy with my Yamaha mixer, which I like a lot. Yamaha's definitely gotten better at that sort of thing over the years. Maybe they've learned a thing or two from Steinberg. Apologies to the OP for hijacking the thread, and for all the words. I'm just excited to have a new synth on the way.

  30. Thanks! That's very kind of you. It all just came together and during the sounddesign I thought..."hey this is beginning to sound like 90s trance...let's go!".

  31. Sorry to hear that you are burned out on music. I've seen it happen to quite a few. My main advices is don't sell all your instruments. Keep enough so that if you change your mind in the future, you can return. My story is opposite. At 19, I was almost a star. Opening concerts for the people in the Billboard top 10. We were in negotiations with Motown for a record deal, but Motown only wanted to pay 2 cents per record. Out of our royalties they wanted to take exaggerated recording, distribution, and promotional costs. In addition, they wanted to own our name, have all publishing rights, and a non-contributing ghostwriter to take half any songwriting royalties. Our management tried for 2.5 cents and they quit talking. So I got my disappointment when I was still young, We went back to playing bars, this was before DJs took over singles clubs. So there was money coming in and plenty of pretty girls to try to impress. I was never much at writing lyrics, so I've made a life playing other people's music. I'm past retirement age, but still enjoying each and every gig. I married one of those girls who happened to be another musician, and since 1985 we've been gigging as a duo. But this life is definitely not for everyone. I've seen many of my band buddies quit it entirely, and others put it down for a few years and come back to it. There is more than one right way to go through life. Enough about me, here is the important part: Whatever you do to replace the music in your life, I hope it gives you great enjoyment and fulfillment. Insights and incites by Notes ♫

  35. Since project files are so small I save constantly and increment the filename with a note in the name of what I was doing (new drums, new lead vocals, etc.) I also run a batch file to copy all new files to a separate drive. I don't depend on autosave. At some point I have the option of deleting early projects if I am sure I won't need them but I usually keep all of them until I am done with the song. This has saved my butt from jerky and fumble-finger moves many times.

  42. It is no longer included with the last version of CbB or Sonar but if you have it you have it. As long as you don’t uninstall CbB I would think. Just don’t ever loose the CbB full installer from last fall that did include it. In the future if you build / purchase a new computer you might not be able to save projects from CbB but I would think you would be able to install it and therefore still install the TTS-1. There’s always the Roland SC VST. It’s only around $70. I have a video I made exploring the options.
