  1. Beautiful Void Audio is discontinuing some of their libraries and discounting them up to 90%. They require the full version of KONTAKT. I own a number of this developer's libraries and really love his work. I suppose they're best classified as ambient, lush, sound design synth patches. From the developer (posted in a Facebook group I'm in): "I will be discontinuing a few Kontakt libraries after February 29, 2024. Most are discounted for up to 90% until that time! (sorry I'm late on posting this). I've created a dedicated page so you can browse these instruments. They all require the full version of Kontakt - version info is in the product title and the product description: https://www.beautifulvoidaudio.com/soon-to-be-discontinued/ These libraries all use the free photosynthesis engine. My plan is to bring most or all of these libraries back in a dedicated UI and engine, with newer sounds as well. Thanks!"

  2. Something I wrote in the 90’s on an acoustic. Like everything I wrote back then, it was clearly inspired by the Beatles- I think maybe Glass Onion (the original version revolved around that Bm - G7 bit pattern). A few years ago, I started working on it again and it changed quite a bit. I shot a quick video while I was recording a basic bass line idea. I may have posted it on the old forum. Then a couple of weeks later I died. But just as I was about to choose between entering Stovokor or meeting all my musical heroes in hell, a bunch of over-zealous doctors pulled me back down. I tell you, Hippocrates and his stupid oath better watch their stupid ghost ***** next time I croak. Anyway, tonight I found myself working on that song again so I thought I’d update the audio part of the video - minus the live bass track obviously. There were little things that bugged me every time that clip popped in my feed. I must say it feels a little strange. Almost as if I was working on my own posthumous release. A one point, I even thought I was a hologram and I started worrying that I was about to go on tour. I don't have any holographic clothes to pack... Anyway, I realized that I’m like the poor man’s Ringo and Paul, working off of a poor man’s Lennon demos. I’m pillaging my own tomb, and Yoko doesn’t even seem to care.

  8. I just got it to work !!! The @user6557688... string is indeed the user name shown, but in the actual URL shows the user name WITHOUT the @ SIGN !! I created a crq file with user657688... with no @ sign, selected it in the Product Center Offline Activation file selection dialog, and it then asked me for the target destination to save the activation file. Used the activation file to activate my offline installation and drove away at a high rate of speed !! It all worked! It took me a lot of back and forth between my office with an Internet connection and my studio with no Internet connection, but it DID WORK! Thanks to all on the team that made this offline activation feature come to pass. -Jack (grateful to be activated again in Central Texas)

  9. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MTi2--slate-media-technology-raven-mti2-multi-touch-production-console Sure it's also available elsewhere at that discount. I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with this. As I have a bit of carpel tunnel at times, it seems this would help with that constant mouse clicking.

  13. - Pulsar 1178: classic FET sound with a twist, the twist being added saturation of different types - Empirical Labs Arousor (low CPU) or UAD Distressor (high CPU): emulations of a modern classic. Can be more aggressive than the 1178 (or 1176 for that matter) - P11 Abyss can do anything you could ever want out of a compressor, including SMACK on the highest PSI setting. But you're very much not going to like the price point. - DMG Audio TrackComp 2 in 76 or 160 modes: top of the line 1176 and dbx160 emulations. - Aberrant DSP Shapeshifter: honourable mention. Smack with a twist. Definitely not a goto, but can be a secret weapon. edit: let me add UAD dbx160. Incredibly low on CPU and there likely isn't a more "iconic" click/pop transient sound, at least not for kick and snare.

  16. Hello , backing up files and removing them from my projects folder, I found this one I put on hold. I remixed it and used some better plugins. I added a synth track and had to stop half way thru to replace the usb port on my controller. (Fun Job) I'm pretty heavy on the guitars and harmonica. Three different acoustics and 3 tracks from my G&L. It's a pretty short simple instrumental for now. Been playing with some vox.. Hear anything that gets your attention needing work , don't be shy , let me have it ! Thanks .. mark -Remix- 3 https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14734816

  17. If you still have the TTS-1 after you open a midi file, if you have also installed the sound canvas plugin, you can change all the tracks with right click on TTS-1 then "replace synth for all tracks using this synth". If you don't have the TTS-1 anymore you can select all tracks then open tracks menu and select "selected track outputs", here you can choose your vst (sound canvas). The problem is with the auto sysxes. Now when you open a midi file that have these data they are auto sended to TTS-1 for configure or reset various GM options before start to play. But in future this could be a problem. You will have to "manual" send these auto sysxs after you have open the midi and assigned its tracks to the sound canvas plugin. Or when it's possible use an event option on the track alternative to sysx. This is the point in where you sought the old TTS-1 where you didn't have to worry about this passage. I tried all the various vst options to replace the TTS-1 during the years, but TTS-1 was still the best as resources/quality and fast access. Then there is the sound canvas plugin. You can use some .sf2 soundfonts with vsts also but then you have problems in find and setup the right reverbs or choruses for the tracks as most of the time the included one doesn't sound right. Something never sound right with pre midi files and you have to do a lot of small fixes and so you lost a lot of time. I had a system with a perfect .sf2 midi player but was not a vst. In the past I had also a Yamaha DB50XG, that was better than TTS-1 unfortunately it needs a waveblaster soundcard and now it is installed on my master keyboard piano to give it also sound... I think that we need to ask the bakers if there will be an option to choose a default vst plugin (gm multitrack compatible) for midi files to open with. In this case it should work exactly as the old TTS-1. But we need this option to be added. As a note remember that the gm vst must be multitrack compatible as it is the sound canvas plugin or all these suggestion don't work. Example xv-5080 (plugin not the real device) is better than sound canvas but it lacks multitracks.

  27. WHOOOOooooo i love sound design compositions, i am a Moog fan but furthermore a massive Syfy fan, reminds me of Raised by Wolves. Its was begging for some drum rolls on toms or that industrial subtle roll, very spacy with lots of verb blended in with the rolls panning left to right. I do believe it would have added dramatic expansion to give it more space. There little orchestral or industrial bangs roll tricks, fool our ears, especially if you delay them on the beat of the synth Arp. Nice work Wookie, love the toys lol

  31. https://psychocircuitry.com/mxf.html Psycho Circuitry has released a flexible transformer saturation/distortion effect plugin. With 3 controls for shaping the character of the distortion, MicroXFORMer+ focuses on fine-tuning the distortion caused from hysteresis. The plugin is available to purchase for the intro price of $19 USD (regular $29 USD). It comes in VST3 and AU formats for Windows and Mac. The free edition of MicroXFORMer features the same design, the hysteresis character control, and 2 transformer types.

  32. Yes. Even with the Generic ASIO driver unchecked, the Presonus drivers still appeared greyed out. SOLVED: I uninstalled the Generic ASIO driver, and Cakewalk would completely lock up when booted. I then reinstalled the GA driver. Cakewalk then gave me a pop up on start telling me that the GA driver was incompatible, and gave me the option to WASAPI. I switched to WASAPI, and was then able to go in and switch to ASIO, and it immediately loaded the GA driver. This time, though, I was able to switch off the GA driver and load the Presonus ASIO driver. So, problem solved. Why this happened? I have zero idea.

  36. Nio , The mix sounds plenty wide enough now after this listen. What is sticking out to me in this mix is the high percussion instrument that comes in right about 1/2 way thru the song. It's pretty brittle , like you need to roll some highs off of it. It comes in again close to the ending and it's a little distracting on the my normal listening headphones. I also think the vocals could have a little more impact. They sound like they were recorded well , timing and pitch is spot on. The copy you have to work with may have been a little too compressed. I think now it's a reverb adjustment that could bring it to life. They sound a little flat without much depth. Maybe a more agressive reverb with a fairly long pre-delay would do it . ?? Sounds like you are willing to get this sounding as good as possible. I'm sure your former bandmates will appreciate it. mark

  37. @mibby the ARC studio box is a global solution the EQ correction is in the Studio box, once configured and saved to the box you no longer need the ARC software or the USB connection to the box. That is only required if you want try the alternative profiles like smartphone or 49" TV etc.

  38. @profwacko: if you go to this post & DL the Cakewalk Product Center, it will allow you to bring down the entire installer to an online machine and then move it to another one. The in-app toast only installs the update.
