  2. Happy Xmas everyone, I'd just like to thank every member who has over the year, taken their precious time out to answer my questions; most if not all of my queries were basic novice stuff, but the problems always stopped me moving on with my projects despite the solution being pretty simple. No one lost patience with my stupidity and many answers were comprehensive and educational. So thanks every one, and particularly John Vere for his comprehensive answers and greats videos,; I seem to spend much of my life on hold to vast call centres run by corporations who really don't give a Rat's A**se about me or my problems, as long as they get my money. But here on this forum, there's a different philosophy, and its very refreshing. And no, I haven't had a Christmas drink! ( Yet!) All the best and thanks again. Richie

  6. Ouch. Not all of their plug-ins are created equal. Especially in the case of ones where they absorbed another company, as they did with Dodge Pro and Venom. Venom is a sound design powerhouse, and Dodge Pro does the sequenced filter and volume very well. Their main line I see as "Soundspot done right." They have the big cool looking UI's and they combine functions to get quick results for people new to mixing. I eventually found that I could get better results by using individual higher pedigree FX, but I think they still have a place for people wanting to build a tool chest outside of what their DAW comes with. As for vocal doublers, my favorite is still Soundspot's. Does just what I want with a very good visual representation of what it's doing. That's a good inexpensive solution, but there are even freebies, like iZotope Vocal Doubler. Check that out if you need a vocal doubler, it's also excellent. And remember that vocal doubling ain't exactly rocket science, it was invented over 50 years ago by a guy at Abbey Road who set up two tape decks and delayed one by holding a chunk of felt against one deck's reel hub. So you can do it by setting up a bog standard delay plug in with a short delay and long LFO. Then pan dry and delay and voila, vocal doubling.

  12. The strategy is to buy whatever individual pieces come up in deep discount (or freebie) sales. I posted my referral code around and got muchos creditos (especially at VI-Control, those cats are not afraid to spend money). Unfortunately, the places I posted told me to stop, but not before I had leveled up to MComplete. I didn't even post my code with the main intent of grubbing credits, I wanted to help other people get the cool discounts. I would have done the same thing even if there were no referral credits in it for me. Apparently that approach results in good will.

  13. Today we have launched the third track off our new Kiss of Storms album. It’s called The Trouble with Our World. Initially when we posted this up on YouTube, they blocked it – apparently inappropriate content!! So we had to appeal this and eventually they posted it – honestly YouTube is getting ridiculous! Hope you enjoy it. You can see the lyrics here https://devinelie.com/kiss-of-storms/the-trouble-with-our-world/ And the whole album is available on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/27iKYYjlWOT2Ku0ltzSEKB We’ve updated our website as well – we’ve got our own store now where you can get music and merchandise!! https://devinelie.com

  14. Today smart limit has been locking up a song. I could do a safe load, but what about a safe load plus. A pop up ask me which plugins to exclude. I type in smartlimit. The song loads without smartlimit and I don’t have to answer 70 times Do you want to load this plug-in.? Please consider this. It would save time and irritation! It could load with shift+ to activate. Is could have a pop up with several fuels for data entry Thanks for considering this.

  17. After playing with the Inspire 2 Solo Cello, I'm not in love with it. The Salu Cello is vastly superior. My issues with the Inpsire 2 Solo Cello are: 1. The vibrato on the two legato patches is too heavy for my tastes 2. The looping is poorly executed; that should be fixed 3, There's far too much room baked in for my taste However, the Soft Sustains patch is pretty nice. In fact, I immediately put it in song I'm working on.

The page itself says; Royalty free All loops & samples in this library are licensed to you ‘Royalty-Free’ so you can use them in your commercial compositions with no extra costs. 21. I could have used 8.5 forever, with only minor adjustments here and there, and tiny cosmetic tweaks to the GUI, but really nothing drastic. In terms of layout and functionality, it felt very comfortable. If I had a powerful enough machine to run it, with the plugins I need, I'm sure I could work with it. As of right now however, it will load projects and let me export them, but that's about it. I feel the same way about Logic 9, which is the software I switched too. 10 came out over 10 years ago but it's always a pleasure to go back and work with 9. It's so lean and clean. It feels a little more transparent to me. I love 10 as well, but I'm not really a fan of the way developers always make everything bigger, with big buttons, and I abhor stuff like track icons. Which is ironic since Logic has had those from as far as I can remember - even in the late 90's - but they were a little more subtle and easier to ignore.

  22. I'm not crazy about the Sine Player. I'd put it up there with UVI's Player as among the sample players I find to be disappointing. But I own several Orchestra Tools libraries for Sine Player that I like. I just picked up the Berlin Orchestra Inspire 2 Solo Cello for only €1 after using the voucher. I think that's a very sweet deal.

  34. I don't think so, although it has some updated common components. I was told it is best to install CbB after SONAR Platinum since CbB updates to some components shared by both. Hold onto both of them. When BandLab comes out with their version of Sonar eventually, that will coexist with CbB and SONAR PLATINUM. Then we can migrate slowly or not. (Cakewalk.next is not part of that family, according to the announcement for it.)

  35. I thought my Platinum was gone forever so I uninstalled what I could. Then I discovered that there is a CCC replacement and that's needed because Platinum and other things were moved to legacy.cakewalk.com. The CCC 1.1.8 worked fine although I went through a bunch of reinstalls to get Platinum up and running. It operates side-by-side with Cakewalk by BandLab just fine also.

  40. Treesha, you nailed this! I like the song, the lyrics, and your vocal and instrumental performances. It goes in unexpected places which really piques my interest. After listening to this several times on different days, the mix has grown on me. Having said that, perhaps the vocals could be cleaned up a little by using a hi-pass filter to clear the lower midrange of your voice, though you could leave this alone, and who would be wiser? Keep up the good work!!

  42. Hi Istvan, I think I found a solution to your dilemma. At the time of inserting Synthmaster into your project, choose MIDI Source and First Synth Audio Out along with checking the Enable MIDI Output box: In the synth property page, click on ARP/SEQ tab and click the MIDI Output option to On (circled in yellow): You can close the synth propery page now. Then Insert a MIDI track into your project. In the Input of the MIDI track, select All inputs: Make sure you click on Input Echo in the Synthmaster MIDI track, Arm both MIDI tracks and you should be good to go. Let me know if you have any difficulty. Kind regards, tecknot

  43. https://venustheory.gumroad.com/l/vtkalimba Ever wanted to make a sample library? You need a ton of really cool and expensive gear to do that...right? Well, here's proof that you don't. This library was created as a 'proof of concept' for a YouTube video I made, and this is the result! The entire library was made for $10, as I had to buy a Kalimba from a flea market to make it. Assuming you own nothing but a computer, the total cost of this project was under $180 to create thanks to the insanely powerful world of free and FOSS software out in the wild. I hope you enjoy the instrument, and more importantly I hope it inspires you to go out and make something!

  44. @Istvan Karsai In the instance that you posted (screenshot) above, I found a couple of issues that are tricky with Kontakt that may help. [If you use Komplete Kontrol as a Kontakt wrapper, there are similar issues... but let's get this working first] First, in your Kontakt instrument you need to go to the <Instrument Options><Engine><Send MIDI to outside world><Chose Options> Remove the tick from <Script generated notes> (if exists), insert a check in <Incoming notes> and then close. (DO NOT SAVE the instrument when it prompts you later!) Then, using the routing previously discussed [Kontakt instance in MIDI OUT mode, MIDI track #2 driving INST track #1, MIDI track #4 driving INST track #3, MIDI track #4 INPUT receiving from the Kontakt output, ch1] as follows; ...then setting Echo In and Record on track #4 should allow you to see incoming notes from track #2 on track #4. Notice that; here, I'm using the INTERNAL Arpeggiator to drive Kontakt (Factory patch) Grand Piano and can then record the arpeggiated notes directly into track #4 driving the Bass. NOTE: (!) that the internal arp will miss the first note of the sequence if you try to start recording the arp sequence exactly at Bar 1/Beat 1, which is why I have shown the example starting at Bar 2, which is a good idea anyway with all projects IMO. Place the playback head (vertical cursor) at Bar 1, start record, and you should get results similar to mine above. There are too many quirks with Kontakt and the Internal Arp for me to cover here, but this should work. Driving from another instrument may be similar, but YMMV.
