  1. Before ArtMaps became really usable I would make a MIDI track for the notes performance and another for articulations & controllers. That made it easier to edit the performance by pitch modulation without affecting the CC data. Now I'm 98% in simple instrument tracks cuz I've built over 60 ArtMaps for orchestration.

At sonible, we know that pain all to well - so we asked ourselves… “What happens if you combine AI-powered phoneme detection with high-resolution spectral processing and years of practical mixing experience?” Well - it turns out that the answer is probably the most natural sounding and intuitive de-esser you’ve ever used. Have we piqued your curiosity? Stay tuned to learn all about smart:deess and the intro deal we've got for you.

  8. You can have multiple articulations playing at the same time if you've set the articulation maps up properly. Articulations that are mutually exclusive (i.e. they cancel each other out) should be in the same group. If you have an articulation that can be played at the same time as another, it should be in a separate group. Different groups appear on separate articulation lanes.

  9. Velocity is part of the Note On message and can't be manipulated independently. But what you can do is add a Clip Envelope for MIDI Velocity [Offset], create three nodes to offset the next three fixed-velocity notes to achieve the desired values, and copy-paste the three nodes as needed to affect the rest of the notes. You can leave the Vel+ envelope in place to preserve editing flexibility or Bounce to Clip to write the velocity offsets into the note events. EDIT: Looks like I was wrong about this. The MIDI clip automation cannot be copy-pasted independently of the notes, either.

  14. Just to give some perspective here. The highest frequency a human can hear is around 20Khz if you're 21 or younger. As you get older, this continues to drop. I suspect the majority of users on this forum will struggle to hear anything over 15Khz. 44.1Hkz can reproduce frequencies up to 22Khz (so beyond human hearing). 16bit audio has a dynamic range of 96db across all of its frequencies. Compare this to tape: a maximum dynamic range 55db - with it's optimal frequency reproduction between 120Hz and 800Khz (it starts to drop off either end of these frequencies). Vinyl has a maximum dynamic range of 60db; frequency range is around 7hz to 50Khz (so better than a 96Khz sample rate). However as far as dynamic range is concerned, vinyl and tape aren't even a match for 12 bit audio (72db), which a bunch of budget synths/samplers used in the 80's/90's. Given that most tracks are of a single instrument, it's likely that the required dynamic range recorded on a single track is way less than 96db. Where things start to go wrong is when you mix in 16 bit - then you're dynamic range is significantly reduced. However NO modern DAW mixes in 16 bit. They all use at least 32 bit float or 64 bit float for mixing; only going back to 16bit at the stereo master bus. The advantage of recording in 24bit is you can record really quiet signals with no loss of dynamic range, and no perceived increase in noise. However, as long as you're recording signals at a decent level, there should be no issues using 44.1Khz/16bit for recording.... I mean, it's absolutely fine on CD. Comparing 32 bit to 24 bit is problematic - 24 bit is an integer format; 32 bit / 64 bit are floating point formats. Although you can store higher numbers in floating point (which is why it's great for mixing), you do lose precision at the extremes. For a mixed down song, a 24 bit integer file and a 32 bit floating point file are equivalent in quality.

I don't remember it, but I must have set up shortcuts for Lyrics etc. Page 624 in the github docs might help some. https://bandlab.github.io/cakewalk/docs/Cakewalk Reference Guide.pdf There is a floating toolbar, you can use in the staff view. Press the mouse roll wheel. Playscore2 free 1 week trial scan to MIDI or XML (unless you are working from handwritten scores) There is another one for iphone I have used it some, but I can't remember the name of it. Cakewalk can import XML Windows version https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/playscore-2/9MW52N003G4D?hl=en-us&gl=ushttps://apps.microsoft.com/detail/playscore-2/9MW52N003G4D?hl=en-us&gl=us You can do a lot of scores in 1 week! You will probably have to do some corrections, but it's way faster than 1 note at a time. EDIT -> You might look at this one too - MusicReader - It has higher ratings

  31. Why not use Articulation Maps? They'll do the key switching for you, and are far easier to use in the PRV. Once your articulation maps are defined, you can even extract your existing key switches from your MIDI track it'll create the articulations for you. CreativeSauce does a great tutorial here:

  35. This will need to be non Bluetooth. And possibly between the guitar and the headphones this could cost $500. Proper Wireless is not cheap. Avoid anything that is as it will be disappointing sound quality. Hardwire is for the most part dirt cheap. It can be as simple as figuring out how far it is and making a 3/4” hole in the wall. Then use long enough cable to go directly to the interface. In my original studio I bought these metal wall plates that were sold with either a pair of XLR or 1/4” jacks. Some I had a both XLR and then a 1/4” TRS that I could use for headphones or Balanced amp outputs. I had these in the isolated Booths an a few scattered around the main room. Those were run to the control room using bulk Beldon cable. This was all done during construction. I still have the box of cable and a bunch of the wall plates. If there’s an operator in the control room this is fine. But if you are by yourself then you could actually bring the audio interface into the other room and use a long enough USB cable. But then you need control of Cakewalk too. For headphone extension I just buy off Amazon and have had good luck with the cheaper stuff. I just buy the 1/8” ones as most of my headphones these days can use both. For guitar if the run is more than 20’ you might want a DI box and run XLR.

  40. Trying to be cautious, for many years prior to the formation of a certain organisation, there were no real countries in Europe and the Middle East. There were tribes that controlled areas of land but borders and definitions were extreamly flexible. When the Romans conquered a tribe their area became another part of Rome. Consequently your thought on "before that" is far more accurate than most probably realise. That certain organisation has caused more trouble, war and death than many tyrants.

  42. I do what you are asking for. I have a cakewalk song with 1 track. That track has 5 sends to 5 reverb/ echo buses. When I save it as a track template and insert it into a song, it creates all 5 buses with each reverb/echo effect with all the plug-in settings just the way yiu want them. Also all the buses that those reverb/echo tracks use, plus the Main bus , Master bus and effects buses. All I have to do is just delete the track and all the reverb buses and sub buses and master buses stay and are ready for use. I have another with saturation buses that I am tweaking now. I have another with my version of a bus compression technic by Michael Brauer called Brauerizing. It is my version of multibus, multiparallel compression technic. I have also use a bunch of FX chains. FX chains can contain any vst, not pro-channel related at all. Some of my FX chains are just a Renaissance EQ and a Renaissance Compressor. Some are complex like my snare with Pro-Q3, Rbass, Vitamin, Kiive Xtressor, SPL Transient, Root One, bx_subsynth and Denise-Noize. I don’t usually use all these on every snare. I just turn them off and on, and tweak them till I like the sound. When I’m finished I delete the ones that didn’t fit this song. I don’t just have one reverb bus template. For instance I have several reverb/bus templates for different styles of music. I have some with Elvis style slapback echo and some with Acustica’s Lemon set to super long echo. Some of those are so long I think they bounce all the way to the end of the next song lol!!! These bus/track creations is how you build “your” sound. This track/bus templates will save you a ton of work a stimulate your creative juices. All this and we haven’t even talked about fancy routings that can be included in these with Aux buses and patch points. Then we have Cantable and waves Studio rack. Now the routing can look like a 10 story office building network phone patchbay.
