  2. You didn't miss much. Fleer still hates WUP, Pavlov still writing TLDR missives on marketing, Abacab still pitching in with all sorts of wisdom nuggets, and Bapu is still buying and installing everything.

  3. MXTune Is A FREE Pitch Correction Plugin By Liualin-MX By William Frady // Updated on February 6, 2023 News Liualin-MX releases MXTune, a freeware pitch correction and dynamic range compression VST plugin for digital audio workstations on Windows and Linux. It’s always an exciting day to see new developers joining the pantheon of freeware developers. Liualin-MX is a relatively new developer, but his first plugin is worth the attention. https://liuanlin-mx.github.io/

  6. This is a case where I finished ahead of the Mighty Fleer. 👍 When I replaced my desktop with a laptop before I moved, I did NOT install any of my many Waves plugins. The primary reason was the cost of WUP. The secondary reason with the proliferation of Waves shells (you get a new one each time you install a new Waves plugins, so you have multiple shells for the same general Waves version). Plus, some plugin scanners had trouble scanning the shells. And then came the proliferation of new versions, trying to force you to WUP your existing plugins to stay compatible with the most recent version. I have been Waves WUP free for over two years now. Many of their plugins are actually quite good, but I don't miss them. I have survived four divorces: three wives and one plugin developer. EDIT: Oops. Make that five divorces: three wives and two plugin developers. I forgot about Slate.

  15. thought i'd start a new thread instead of hijacking the discussion here seems to be a recent trend towards compressors that compress without sounding like they're compressing... nice. this one got some props, thought i'd check it out and so far it's working far better than expected. would be interested in other's thoughts on their material (mostly acoustic based stuff here). digging the "valhalla" design aesthetic after having to hack through the byzantine uis inspired by the dutch masters of AA. d/l for free here if it works for you, the latest/fuller featured version is here for £23. don't know if he has the interest/background to explore the more classic flavors of compression, but might be interesting to see how this evolves.

  17. Here's an old internet collab Cake project I'm trying to salvage (might have been here previously.) The audio tracks have issues but keeping as is, here's a new 0 fader remix (my sub died so hopefully it translates...no real video, just a little lava lamp action background for use YT release) Once again CbB worked well on this 16b project made pre Sonar 6? ...props to the bakers..hope you enjoy

  20. the Fuse Audio Labs VREV-305 is a best of 2022 for me, great sounding, very versatile, more than "just a spring", got a bit of a plate vibe to it as well. the free one from them is decent as well. the Aegean Spirit Reverb has been in the tool kit for quite some time, darker, more traditional sound, very capable i tried/have most of the others, but these two are the gotos unless i need that surfer sproing for an EG track and it's already in the sim.

Eventide H9 Plug-in Series Bundle Get 'em all here! https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/H9Series--eventide-h9-plug-in-series-bundle I don't have the bundle, but I picked up Blackhole on sale about 4 years ago on sale. Love that one! Then I added Shimmerverb, Ultratap, and Tricerachorus on other sales.

  24. Hi Gary, the major problem with this are the guitars.they need to be trashed & completely re-recorded. I'm fine with the take but the sound is awful /poorly tracked..lipstick on a pig type situation!...maybe one day I'll start from scratch..thanks again for your help. Thanks Quick Math. This was an early collab ( 2001) slow dial-up IIRC the drum track was an mp3. I believe I gave him his guide with a midi bass, then bass gtr was added... sometimes it's the opposite..They both prefer having each others part to play off of so sometimes it goes back & forth a few times..most of the time it's one track..It is exciting when I get their tracks back & hear it from their perspective, it can change the tune entirely. Hope you get a chance to do it too.. thanks again for listening.

  26. Thank you for your detailed reply. I directly went to MS redistributable lib problem as I do not use ASIO driver. I installed the redist setup and the installation went successfully, but it did not solve the problem. I guess this was not related... Instead, I found the instruction about clean install in the link you provided, so I just decided to reinstall CbB once again. I followed this instruction: https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034066393-Clean-Install-Cakewalk-by-BandLab I had reinstalled CbB before uploading this question, but it was indeed not the clean install. Some remaining damaged files may have had caused this issue... So, after two reinstallations, the app is finally working! Thank you very much for your help!

  36. Eventide Spring is part of their H9-series (also in the Anthology XII bundle). That series has some other great pedal-inspired plugins like the pretty amazing Blackhole (shimmer style) reverb.

  38. I'm pretty happy with the spring reverb in Guitar Rig and now Softube's Spring Reverb, but I have found that there are some other very good spring reverbs out there (all of which cost more than $11 USD). Specifically, I've heard good things about Eventide Spring, AudioThing Springs and u-he Twangstrom. Hopefully someone who owns one of these -- or another one they find worth recommending -- will chime in. I have tried a number of free spring reverbs and didn't like most of them, but do like Lost in the 70s Devil Spring and Fuse Audio Labs' VREV-666, although the latter doesn't have any presets. https://lostin70s.com/plugins/DevilSpring https://fuseaudiolabs.com/#/pages/product?id=301009892 AudioThing Springs is currently on sale for $39 USD. https://www.audiothing.net/effects/springs/ u-he Twangstrom 69 € https://u-he.com/products/twangstrom/ Eventide Spring $99 USD https://www.eventideaudio.com/plug-ins/spring/

  39. This was actually a really good freebie. I wouldn't be surprised if their full version, or other products were decent too. I tried this out ages ago and liked it, but might make an effort to use it more frequently by adding it to my "Use more" list in Cubase 🙂

  41. Which was pretty stupid when you think about it. How did the naysayers think these synthesisers were going to get played? None of these products write the music for you. Even with loops, it still takes work to mold them into something worthwhile. Same with Band-in-a-Box; you still have to write the song and the more you put in to working with the tools, the better results you get.

  44. I gigged on Cruise ships from 1986-1989. Back then, there was no TV on the ships, except for pre-recorded advertisements and a taped movie that played again and again and again and again. When I jumped ship, I hooked the cable back up, but after a few months I realized I wasn't watching. The few times I did sit down to watch, I was doing more fidgeting than watching. So I disconnected the cable. The house is wired for an antenna, and I'm capable of doing that, but I never bothered. When I had the house painted, I took the antenna mast down. I guess I got used to doing things instead of watching. Instead of watching TV: I learned to make user styles for Band-in-a-Box, started a mail-order business selling them. I learned how to run a mail order business That turned into an Internet order business, so I learned to make my own web pages, made a website ... ... ... and learned how to run an Internet order business. (I've sold my wares to musicians in over 100 countries so far.) I learned to sequence backing tracks from scratch, so I don't have to depend on karaoke tracks, or the tracks sold on the net that are never in my key, never in my arrangement, usually with the wrong groove, and so on. I spent more time fixing the few I purchased than building my own, so I do my own I've sequenced more than 600 backing tracks for my duo, which helps us stay booked https://www.nortonmusic.com/cats/songlist.html it takes time, but it's not really work. It's making music. And it makes our product (music) sound better than the competitors. We've got to the point where we charge more money than our competition, and still have more gigs per month than our competition. I learned to play wind synthesizer I learned to play lead guitar (still learning on that instrument, it's my 7th and newest) Full disclosure: Mrs. Notes and I have a one-at-a-time DVD subscription from Netflix. A couple of times per month, we'll slip in a DVD and watch a movie. It's the absolute only time the TV is on. I've never seen Taxi, Cheers, Friends, Seinfeld, Geme of Thrones, Downtown Abbey, Cheers, Glee and hundreds of others that I don't even know the names of. I guess I'm missing some pretty cool things, and no-TV isn't best for everyone, but right now it's working for me. I might change my mind and start again some time in the future, who knows? Notes ♫

  46. Atlantis and some of the amp sims are the only Softube stuff I don't own. The Fix Phaser is a good deal. And some you should note that they (like the phaser) work within Modular and Amp Room, if that matters to you. Hail Paul Wolff and all that. But some of these, you may want to pass on if you plan on getting one of their volumes that include stuff. I only find myself using the TubeDelay and SpringReverb within Modular.
