  1. Perhaps THE best installer around!

  2. Had not logged in since early December 2020. 13 months! Unbelievable... I've often thought about my good old CH buddies but the year was extraordinarily hectic. And yet it's strange how sometimes one of you guys' name would just pop in my mind out of nowhere, and I'd find myself thinking - I wonder how this guy has been doing... Even folks from the old newsgroup in the late 90's - Craig Olmstead and Bob Beals and all. It's amusing how a bunch of people you've never met in real life occupy such a place in your existence. As for I, life has thrown me a few curve balls but I am alive and kicking - and still making music. I even bought my first 7-string in March. (My first guitar equipped with EMG's, too. I don't hate them.) You need to challenge yourself, right? Call it midlife crisis. I figured it may a bit late in life to start violin, but 7-string isn't that much of a stretch. I am a Gibson/Fender guy, and I usually stick with classics - the last guitar before that was a butterscotch Tele. Schecter really wasn't a name I had any affinity for. If anything, I had a somewhat unfavorable opinion of them. So when I started looking, I was thinking maybe ESP, since that's what a lot of the people who used to buy Gibsons buy nowadays. But I couldn't find a 7 that had all I wanted until I started looking at Schecters. And I was extremely surprised when I received this one - the Hellraiser C-7. A very nice instrument. It's also my only guitar that's not a solid color - they call the finish black burst. I call her Domina Mortem. And she rocks. Anyway, good to be back, you guys.

  3. Ok, I'll give away my "secret sauce". The free tool I regularly use in projects is sbagen https://uazu.net/sbagen/ , to generate a track that sets the appropriate mood One reason for seldom using freebies is that generally for the ones that I like I end up purchasing the corresponding "big brother". Maybe that's a different thread "Which freebies encouraged you to upgrade to a paid product?" One plugin that I also use frequently is hornet elliptiq https://www.hornetplugins.com/plugins/hornet-elliptiq/. Technically it's not free but, when Hornet has a sale (that is, most of the year), it costs less than an issue of Beat magazine or Computer Music magazine at the newsstand.

  11. I use Streamliner...it gives me BOTH worlds...I can check my mix against streaming service standards AND I can A/B compare...so it's really like having Metric A/B and a Steaming service comparison all in one plugin...

  14. The last song I posted some thought was a little muddy. So this new song I mastered it at Bandlab. The mastering brightened everything up, add some compression making it a little louder. It did add a little noise on the intro. Bandlab mastering has probably been discussed on the forums, but I've not read thru any of it.(forgive me) Written 99% by a friend of mine, I love playing this song in front of a live audience. It's a blast!!!

  17. Hello fellow production and music aficionados. Hope this brave new world is treating you as well as can be expected. I finally gathered together a bunch of the cover tunes I have done with some very talented Bandlab people, and released it on an album called Cover Story. I don't think I will be posting it to all the usual places because it'll cost me $15 a song to get the rights to release it (ridiculous). Anyway, here is the link and I hope you like it. These are some of my favorite songs over the years. https://baselines.com/?p=6387 Stay strong and keep posting your material here. You are making the world a better place. Steve

  20. Waves' achieved this goal in ver 13 plugins; the amount of RAM used by WavesLocalServer was greatly reduced from ~125MB to ~25MB. But loading it at system startup is a step backwards.

  25. WavesLocalServer…what is it and why doesn’t it quit when I quit my DAW? https://forum.waves.com/t/waveslocalserver-what-is-it-and-why-doesnt-it-quit-when-i-quit-my-daw/2107/5 "WavesLocalServer is a background process that is used to facilitate cross plugin communications, preset scanning, advanced plugin features and licensing abilities. This service does not collect or transmit any personal user information or usage data. The reason this service stays open in the background is to optimize loading and scanning times. We are working to minimize the resources it requires. There is no problem if the service is terminated, but it will be relaunched by the plugin once it is needed."

  26. I hooked up on a mistake Lars found once. I believe it was from Musician's Friend, and I don't recall what it was though I remember that I didn't need it but was compelled to capitilize. Actually I think Lars found a Melodyne mistake deal that I got too

  32. I don't think I saw Orilriver reverb in here anywhere. Before I invested in some high dollar reverbs, Orilriver and Dragonfly reverbs were workhorses for me. I still keep them around even if I never use them. It's just nice to know they're there!

  41. Thanks for jumping in on the update. I hate to resurrect posts that have had their run, but gary did great work that I wanted to expose. He's right though, the MP3 I posted doesn't do the mix job he did a lot of justice. I'm still very appreciative of his taking my stuff under his wing and I learned quite a bit from him as he worked through the various decisions involved.

  44. This kind of weird behavior happened to me when I initially installed the prior update. Other people had odd behavior too and we were talking about it on their forum. Just for the hell of it I reinstalled Studio One and all the problems I a few guys reported it worked for them as well. Maybe give that a try if it keeps giving you trouble. I've seen weird behavior after installing an update in S1 since I upgraded from version 3. I skipped 4 and went from 3 to 5. Re-installing has fixed it every time so far. HTH. 👍🏻 Side note: The thread I'm referring to over there has been purged. They have a nasty habit of doing that especially in the "official discussion" threads they start after every new update and upgrade. I'm actually shocked my 666 error code thread is still there and allowed to continue since 2015. They really don't like older threads being restarted. It's not as open a forum as ours is here.

  45. This looks like the same package they have been selling for ages and it is a frigging mess. It's just plainly bad. Save your money for something else. This is a POS library. Avoid it at all cost. This actually is the library that turned me totally off from Aria Sounds.

  47. I've contemplated getting this in the past. I already own several snaps, claps and stomps libraries. What makes me still contemplate this is how it gives you a lot of control over adjusting claps. For those using snaps, claps and stomps in their songs, there's a freebie that I strongly recommend. It's from Red Room Audio (it requires the full version of KONTAKT): https://redroomaudio.com/product/snaps-claps-slaps-stomps-shouts/

  49. I would simply set band 6 to "Low pass" and automate the frequency Record the automation while moving band 6 frequency. If you happen to end up recording other parameters, simply delete them. Once you have recorded enough, simply edit the resultant automation curve to taste. I tested this here and it worked fine.
