That's actually a misconception! We made taxable contributions to the SSA trust fund for our entire working lives. So it's actually supposed to be a retirement fund payout, and not a government free money giveaway. Sorry to veer off-topic, but if in doubt, PM me and I will share the facts. End of discussion here...6 points

I thought that you weren't officially old until your first question on arrival at any given place is "where's the toilet?"5 points

For what it's worth... a lil Family History... My Great Grandmother on my Dad's side lived to be 103! She was FULL BLOODED Cherokee! She was stolen off of an Indian Reservation by my Great Grandfather! She smoked a Pack of Pall Mall's, and drank a 6 pack of Budwiser every day!4 points

Congratulations, you're now officially a socialist! (It's a reference to some PMs Larry and I had a while back. Just having fun, but it is accurate.)4 points

I was born in Edmonton. So glad my parents moved away when I was four...to Montreal. Maybe not as cold but certainly way more snow.3 points

another alternative: Write Izotope support an email telling them what you have and telling them the price you want to pay for what you want. I have found them very responsive and they have met my price 3 times now over the last 4 years. I have never found that their 'loyalty offers' on my product page made a whole lot of sense especially when it came to price versus what I already had. Izotope did answer one time that they couldn't do what I wanted, so I found another way or just waited.3 points

When I came out to the garage/office/studio at 5:00 this morning, I tracked in some snow. When I got up to go make a second pot of coffee at 8:00, I noticed it was still there. The band is scheduled to rehearse in this space on Thursday. The forecast is for more snow and much colder temperatures. But that'll just be acclimation for Friday night's gig, where the venue is at a much higher elevation with temperatures in single digits (-13 C for those outside the US). And twice as much snow. It's normally a 2-hour drive but will probably be double that in the snowstorm that's forecast. I don't think my rear-wheel drive van will make it, so we'll be jamming everything into three 4WD vehicles and caravanning up the mountainside. I have never cancelled a gig. Ever.3 points

Guitar: Ritchie Blackmore Signature strat 2010 Pickups, neck and bridge YJM Fury, middle pickup is dummy pickup ala Blackmore I used the Headrush Gigboard as my Audio Interface to record the dry signal, then used Amp Room to reamp Dry Signal. Attached is a screenshot of the rig i built in Amp Room, as mentioned i have their Silver Jubilee amp so I used that in Amp Room. I basically took one of their presets and swapped in the Silver Jubilee. Recorded in Cubase Pro 10.3 points

So I jumped in, got it. Symphobia is awesome. I really like the new interface and setup, although I never used the previous version, so I can't compare the two. The overall sound of the samples is freakin' exquisite, and they are so easy to play. I always wondered if the baked-in sound and Project SAM's predilection for combos, multis and blended sections might not work for me, as I like being able to control every element of the orchestration. But so far I find the patches to be really useful and surprisingly effective. I can see a lot more Project SAM libraries on the horizon...3 points

Sometimes having multiple degrees and certifications qualifies people for being Over Qualified!! It's probably a corollary of The Peter Principal: Some people don't want to hire other people who they think might know more than they do. 😜 Decades ago I learned never to score 100% on a civil service clerical worker test. Best to get at least two wrong on purpose! 😜 😜 😜3 points

Once at 65 there will be at least an additional 1 year and 6 months before the gov't says you are old. And the goal moves every year for the next for years (at least). At 65, all one gets is a bill for Medicare which may be ignored (for a price if one decides to enroll after 65) or if covered by an employer's policy.3 points
