  3. It's great that they're so generous with their demo policy (including the recently reactivated 14 day trial). I sure love my Plini. Still, Nolly is very tempting for the high-gain tones.

  5. Loops, from Hans Zimmer's sample library! I was just saying to myself what this track needs is some more Hans Zimmer loops. Like more cowbell, but with strings.

  8. Looks like the snapshot based presets aren't quite right. In a nutshell they have you setup a specific kind of Kontakt multi for say, Ark 3's High String Artics. So you load in three instances with the snapshots they provide and then you use a combined (they call them CB) articulation map that lets you pick from all the articulations (which is more than you can map in a single Kontakt instrument instance). But when they setup the Cakewalk articulation map they didn't include the parts to direct the MIDI to channels 1, 2, 3 depending on which of the three instruments the articulation you are using is located. So everything goes to the first instrument and only the articulations on it work. Here's how it looks when you load the Repetition 1/16 articulation: But that doesn't direct the keyswitches to MIDI 3 and it doesn't redirect the notes to MIDI 3 either. Like this: The articulation map most likely should redirect the CC stuff as well. I think the Multi Script they include for Kontakt is supposed to do, though I'm not really sure, the documentation is kind of weak on what it does and the script is locked so I can't actually look at it. It looks like all it does is echo the CC on every (maybe only 3) MIDI channel. Rather than send it to the "right" instrument. I think Cakewalk can direct the CCs to the right MIDI channel to start with and thus doesn't need the multi-script. Maybe like this: I've sent them an email. The day I'm having I'm sure they will tell me I'm wrong or something.

  9. Plini is sublime for most applications. I get the most beautiful clean tone of any amp sim I own from that package and the lead/ crunch amps are equally good. Just a great all-arounder. Going to pick up Nolly for more of the high gain stuff.

  10. Anyone else starting to feel like that Hans Zimmer sound is getting a bit old? Hans Zimmer reminds me of the villian in the Incredibles: I’ll give them heroics. I’ll give them the most spectacular heroics anyone’s ever seen! And when I’m old and I’ve had my fun, I’ll sell my inventions so that everyone can be superheroes. Everyone can be a super! And when everyone’s super....no one will be. [evil laughter] [leaves room] Like, 'when everyone sounds like Hans Zimmer.....'

  12. hey guys, I hope a commercial announcement is okay in this part of the forum. Art Conductor is a collection of articulation maps supporting more than 350 commercial sample libraries. The maps share a unified naming scheme for the articulations and utilise Cakewalk's group feature to a great extend. In other words, the collection is not just randomly imported Expression Maps, instead the content was build for Cakewalk. And, they're available as of today Details can be found here: http://www.babylonwaves.com/cakewalk Here's a video: Best, Marc

  13. I didn't know what I was missing until I started using articulation maps. Art maps have given me a more fluid and intuitive and creative way of using my sample libraries. Now I want to go further. Now I want to use a single keypress or button to select the most used articulations across libraries. I'd like to use my external midi controller's assignable buttons to select the most often used articulations in a map. Using Streamdeck is also a possibility. This would require a consistent art map structure, a blueprint that is always followed. Babylonwaves Art Conductor does incorporate a consistent structure in their maps. But you could create your own maps to your own blueprint. So the next step is the connection between the external buttons and Cakewalk. It's as though we need a keyswitch or trigger that will control the articulation map interface that will then assign the articulation. As this is just my "woke up this morning with an idea" brainstorming , I don't yet see a clear pathway to implementing this in Cakewalk. So I'm interested in input from others. Art maps are in their first iteration in Cakewalk. If my goal has interest among other users I'm hopeful that Cakewalk can provide the access to internal features to help make this happen. Your thoughts please ...

  22. Thanks Larry! EDIT2: As Larry pointed out you will get v1.8 via Product Portal. To get v1.9 download/install manually from https://www.izotope.com/en/products/vinyl.html (thanks @Promidi). Love the little easter egg/animation - click on 3 of the screws at each corner and the front panel will spin around revealing the authors and version number. Clicking on the final screw will remove the panel completely EDIT3: Now I have installed v1.9 which is very nice and much improved but the old easter egg is not there 😭 Prize for the first person to find a new easter egg.

  28. Since CbB remains without an integrated or bundled phrase (drum machine style) sampler, my thought is that it might be helpful to compile a list of whatever we're using instead. I'm not talking about things like Kontakt or Sampletank, but rather instruments whose purpose is mostly to play back phrases when triggered by MIDI events. They all allow a certain amount of cropping and manipulation, reversing and loop options for the audio samples. My current favorite is Speedrum Lite, which is freeware, simple but not incomplete, pretty much along the lines of what I'd like to see bundled with Cakewalk. Others I've tried that fill the bill are Sitala, freeware, similar in features to Speedrum Lite, and TX16wx, also freeware, way more features than the others, but with corresponding complexity. I find I can get my phrase sampling jobs done more quickly with Speedrum and Sitala, but for fancy multivelocity stuff, I'd go with TX16wx. It would of course be great to have such a thing built into Cakewalk, but these are what I've been using to get by until the feature is included.

  30. Emvoice has announced that their first male voice, Jay, is now available for the Emvoice One vocal synthesizer plugin. Jay is available now for $139, rising to $199 after an introductory sale period. Emvoice's other voice, Lucy, is also currently on sale for $139. Both voices run in the Emvoice One plugin (VST/AU/AAX), and require an internet connection for use. The plugin is free to download, and gives access to demo versions of both voices, each limited to a seven-note range. Jay features: Runs in the Emvoice One plugin along with our first voice, Lucy. Natural range: E1 to C4. Extended range: C1 to C5. Record MIDI data from your DAW or controller. Program realistic glissando and vibrato patterns. Choose from pronunciation options or create your own words from phonemes. Export/Import entire project files of lyrics and notes. The technology behind Jay Jay uses the same vocal synthesis technique as Emvoice's other voice, Lucy. Working with a real singer, Emvoice have recorded individual phonemes at multiple pitches. When a user programs notes and types lyrics, the cloud-based engine then recombines the right samples from thousands – including realistic breath sounds – to create a seamless vocal performance. Recent Emvoice One updates Since the launch of Lucy last year, Emvoice One has been updated to include MIDI listen mode, AAX support, an extended range for voices from C1 to C5, and a redesigned user interface with a choice of light and dark modes. https://www.emvoiceapp.com/

  31. Definitely write AAS. They may be able to offer you a deal tailored to what you have now. And in a few days, most everything in the store will be half price. For those of you who don't know, if you have collected duplicates of expansion libraries, promotions, etc., they will swap your dupes for new ones of your choice. Also they usually give out a free expansion as a Christmas gift to people on their list. Important to know when you are strategizing your next AAS purchase

  40. I bought LSS Strings for $40 when they were on sale at APD. For that price, I was willing to take the risk. To be honest, the number of times I have contacted support for any software is close to nil. I have actually gotten more support from places like this forum.

  44. I found a thread on KVRaudio on Zampler. Info about Zampler itself: It plays files in sfz and rex format. It does not play wave files unless you first get an sfz editor and make it sfz file format. It does not preview the files in the browser. It does not do a preset change. You will have to go to the browser and load it from there. Considering that i have lot of good synths and they say the samples is mostly synth sounds i pass on this. It's a bit hard cause i've upgraded my pc. Now my C drive is 1.5 TB SSD HD compared to the 500 GB mechanical HD that's now drive D. I no longer need to stay away from samplebased plugins.

  45. My suggestion would be one of two: 1. Adjust the synth pitch bend range to half of what it currently is at. Synths usually have the range which a full pitch change affects. For example 2 semitones or 12 semitones. If it is set to 12 semitones (1 octave) set it to 6. 2. Show the wheel values in the controller lane in the PVR. Use the transform tool to select all the wheel events and scale them down by 1/2. This is a bit manual but you should be able to get pretty close. A. Transform tool B. Transform tool bounding box
