I have been using ST since ST2. Have always liked the sounds that I have got from it. With ST 3, they really made a leap in UI and sound. I still use ST3 on my Surface (takes less space!). I pretty much don't use anything else anymore as far as a sampler. I don't own Kontakt. Not even the free version. ST4 does what I need very well.

I believe ST4 Max also includes the ST3 libraries. But you don't need to download and install the ST3 stuff again if you already have ST3 installed. Just point ST4 to that path and you are good to go. No import required in that case. I still have ST3 and ST4 running side by side, but I only really need to open ST4 at this point to access everything! If you have older IK libraries (pre ST3), you can import them into ST3, which will make them available to ST4 as part of your ST3 content.

I'm patiently waiting for Motion Keys by Sample Logic to go on sale.....talk about a very nice library and very useful.

I started from an existing ST4 Max 4.09. I had previously used an instrument content path for all of my ST3 stuff, that included Syntronik and Miro 2. Then I added a separate path for all of my ST4 Max instrument installers. So before I added CS, I had two discrete paths for content, ST3 & ST4. Then I did the following to add the ST4 CS instruments: Upgraded to ST4 Max 4.10. Authorized the ST4 CS serial in the Authorization Manager. Downloaded and installed the ST4 CS instruments to my ST4 content path. I did not install the ST4 CS application, as I already had Max. Ensured both content paths were still showing correctly in ST4 settings UI for both ST3 and ST4 content. Re-scanned.

I just checked again and it seems to happen when simple instrument track option is selected in the the properties popup window.

"You can now show/hide the Aim Assist text in the time ruler." This was available in Sonar Platinum by checking 'Edit - Aim Assist' in the file menu. Also in CbB 2019.11 by hitting "X". In CbB 2020.01 you have to hit "Alt-X" It would be nice to see it in the PRV (controller pane) as well. -(edit)

Hi, Long time Sonar user. Thanks very much for taking the torch and carrying this great platform forward. Since installing and using Cakewalk by Bandlab, when ever I export a project, the resulting 44.1 or 48k wav or mp3 files are clipping and distorted on louder parts or even all the way through a song if the content is pretty loud. Everything sounds and looks fine while mixing and monitoring, no peaking or even near peaking levels. I've never had this problem with Sonar producer or platinum versions. I try using export profiles that I've saved and used over and over, or default profiles but that doesn't help. "What You Hear" profile has the same issues. If I choose to export busses, it will export each bus into separate files. If I mute the FX bus, and export just the master, the level is lower (noticeably lower than it should be) and there is no clipping but there is no reverb fx either. If I choose just the master it's fine, (lower but no clipping, and of not F/X reverb on the vocals....) I have my FX bus sending its output to my master so I should be able to export just the master buss and have a good mix with reverb, Right? I've read online that deleting the aud.ini file so cakewalk will rebuild it will fix this sort of problem but that had no effect either. Did Cakewalk change the way things are exported when they took over Sonar? I have to get a mix out for a music video this weekend on Saturday! Please help! Bruce Searl

News is a business. A product that is sold and people make money off of it. They go after an intended audience. I don't see how a person would be confident in everything they say. If you are exposed to a state run press, things are even worse. Neither is everything they say a lie. Comparative analysis among news outlets will show different views of the same events, sometimes grossly extrapolated. Sometimes minus important info.There's enough truth in it to make you think it's all true. Video can now be manipulated so well that you can't really tell what's real and what isn't real. Most people rely on that screen to elighten them on what's happening. I does a great job of that, though I think we often need to read between the lines. It seems that what they ( news delivery) think is important at the time trumps anything else....no matter that there is always a lot more going on. They are just very selective. News is consumed and they are choosing your meals.

The existentialist position is summed up as "man's existence preceeds his esscence." My cat here is a predetermined being. He is a hunter and a carnivore. He can not choose otherwise. In fact, it would be harmful to him if he could. Despite the fact that he has a ready source of food available for the taking that he need do no work for, he still exhibits predatory behavior and will still hunt down and kill things. I, on the other hand, can be a hunter or a vegan. I can even be one thing one day and another the next. If a debilitating health condition forces me to abandon a long held career, I can allow it to devastate me emotionally and psychologically or I can view it as an opportunity to grow. If the cat (assuming his natural state without the human intervening to do the deed for him) can no longer hunt, he dies. That simple. Back to Neal Peart's point: even if you do not choose to exercise your free will, that in and of itself is a choice. We really have no choice but to choose. One way or another. As Sarte put it: "man is condemned to be free."

"Some free will" isn't free will. Ah, so you're an absolutist, one either has free will or one does not. Can you give examples to back up your assertion? So far you've mentioned narcissists, psychopaths and mentally ill people, but perhaps you haven't noticed, or cared to notice, all of the countless high-functioning, creative, healthy people that are actually contributing something of value to humanity. You twisted my words into something I didn't say and didn't imply. Your cynicism may serve you when it comes to protecting your sense of vulnerability but as contribution to a discussion it is a complete dead-end. Your opinion of humanity is so low probably because your opinion of yourself is also low. There are many outstanding people in this world, people who achieve some level of happiness, success and service to others, contributions to our world that are desperately needed. It's amazing that you interpret my understanding of free will exactly as the opposite of what i am saying. I've run into this problem before and brought it up many times, IIRC it has to do with the interaction of CbB being inherently stereo so it treats mono as existing in both channels, then sums as it exports. I've found four solutions. 1. Don't use the export function. Instead, drag the file into the desired folder in the browser. 2. Drop the Gain by -3 dB before exporting. 3. Export the mono file as stereo (although of course then you end up with a stereo file) 4. Export as Split Mono. This creates two mono files, just delete one of them.

That's interesting Matthew; please note anyone else who owns ST4 MAX and downloaded CS content early like me (around 3 pm UK time yesterday).... When I looked in my account yesterday on first release of CS there was only a new version of ST4 MAX 4.1.0 with the new ST4 CS sound content listed under it so those two items were all that I downloaded. They installed and have been working fine (see my original post here). I went through every new instrument and checked that they worked and I didn't need to re-authorise anything, they just worked. The only thing I am missing is a separate CS executable but since I can access all of the new content in ST4 MAX why would i need it? Today, when I look in my account there are 2 new items that weren't there yesterday with their own serial numbers...SampleTank 4 CS and SampleTank Editor BETA. SampleTank 4 CS is the same executable as I already downloaded under the ST4 MAX link (many IK products seem to work this way) so I don't need to re-download that but I HAVE now authorised the CS serial in Auth Manager as well as the Editor BETA serial just to be on the safe side. Sampletank Editor BETA is a different product and is currently version 4.0.0 so needs separate download/installation. So, if like me you own MAX and downloaded any of this early on check your accounts again today!

I enjoyed that very nice! I thought the mix was good. We all paint different pictures,,, a little reverb could give more definition to some of the instruments.
