Natasha is a binaural environment modeling plug-in. Inspired by a binaural microphone built in our studio and also in one of our rooms. For a limited time this plugin will be free. https://audiofb.com/en/product/natasha/?fbclid=IwAR0fN4dFxD8aucGYFu3Xbous2IbFqGvFReF63AXyWPUEdZyh2aS8OWPsOSg4 points

Hi @Robert Bone @FJ Lamela and others who had this issue. Please try out this version of VST scanner. I've updated the logic so that it is more specific about the VST3 folder rather than just checking for VST3, It will now only look at the standard VST3 folders under Program files or Program Files (x86). Also it wont get tripped up by names like VST32. You will need to copy that file into C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities and then scan again. Let me know if it fixes the issue.3 points

I know Softube makes great plugins, but how good are their amp sims? Seems to me that intro price might be a bit high considering what's out there, but will demo it and see.3 points

Another new song. This year hasn't started out so great. Between politics and medical issues, I wanted (needed) to write a song that purges some of these negative emotions, in a cathartic kind of way. The song has kind of angry, depressing lyrics, but I think the music (instrumentation and arrangement) turned out pretty well. It's a long song, with some jamming at the end, weighing in at a whopping 7 minutes and 30 seconds. (I never could write short 3 minute songs) (You can read the *lyrics on the song's info page) *Explicit Lyrics - NSFW In 20202 points

Hm... surprise... yet another manufacturer with their implementation for emulation of classics hardware... For sure they are brave with deals 50% giving so 'tempting' for instance ~110EUR for another Neve 225 emulation... The thing is there are better known brands in plugin world so to encourage me even to test and spent time (which is money,as one can say) to check if it can do anything more than plugs I already have... I don't get it they should try to bring as many interest as possible... With such prices it can be hard... Why not to pick PA Lindall 254 waiting for deal for $25 for instance or for Unison lovers wait for BF and their mass promo and pick Neve 336? Waiting for people to grab with current prices they need to predict such thing as introducing new plugins by their current and future competitors, many more tempting deals deals from their competitors so users going to not to them... And after 2 years looking at stats and decision to go to $29W they could discover it was tooo late...2 points

Sounds like you've answered your own question to me. If you connect with a synth, you're half-way there ... that's probably why I'm still using Rapture all these years later.2 points

Here's my twopenneth Starise...my biggest mistake was going for ST4 (the version just below MAX like you are considering) when it first came out (pre-order) which I did mainly due to the storage considerations (100Gb vs 260Gb). Also, because I got it when it first came out there was the usual raft of bugs that needed fixing which caused me quite a few problems. In terms of content I didn't find it very useful and soon realised that I should have gone for MAX or not bothered. YMMV. I upgraded to MAX on a killer deal after an SSD upgrade and never looked back. The original bugs in ST4 seem to be ironed out nowadays and some of the MAX instruments are excellent (brass, woodwind, piano, guitar, voices). There's a lot to like as well as a lot that I will probably never use but that's true of most libraries. I can also still use all of my ST3 MAX libraries (still love that American Acoustic) and even some old esoundz ST2 libraries. Here's a page comparing versions.. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/st4/index.php?p=versions ...and a list of instruments in each version. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/include/st4/soundlist/SampleTank_4_comparison.pdf2 points

AFAIK the refresh was added to make it easier to reactivate without updating. Pretty sure it still wants to phone home to reactivate but I could be wrong.2 points

So if you have a separate midi track from the synth track (I recommend this), you see level on the midi track bouncing but no level on the track with the synth on it... Then I recommend checking properties > Midi > control surfaces and make sure no surfaces are checked. This will route the midi to the controller not to the instrument track you thought you were routing it to.2 points

A friend of mine just told me yesterday that his company is developing a 256 mega-pixel camera for use in manufacturing. I couldn't help but think of how much storage just a single image will take let alone a video stream!2 points

For example, there's no mention of video. Mixcraft has better video editing options than any of the DAWs mentioned, including Pro Tools. If all you care about is recording a song and getting it up on YouTube, Mixcraft is "best." But what this tells me is not so much that Music Radar doesn't know anything about video, but that none of their readers care about it, so they didn't vote for it.2 points

One caution: when doing this, I consider it best practice to go easy on the FX I'm using. Just whatever I or the talent need to hear to get a good performance. Or if I have a rockabilly singer and they need to hear the slapback so they can do the "hug-a-mug-a-huh" thing in the right rhythm or whatever. If you find that there is a noticeable delay in monitoring, it could be caused by a plug-in. iZotope products are well-known for this. They sound amazing when I use them on mixdown, but I can't use them while I'm tracking because they cause so much latency. The thing to do in that case is only use the FX that you need for the vocal tracking session and disable the rest. Then flip the others back on at mixing time.1 point

Insta-buy for me. Syntorus has long been a staple here. My first-call will probably always be Ubermod, but if it doesn't deliver then I know Syntorus will. I like that you can tempo-sync it - from the graphic is appears you can sync each channel independently, that would be cool.1 point

That's because a majority of Music Radar's audience is in Europe. There's a larger base of EDM and Mac users. FL and Live will always be in the top 5. Once you get into that Mixcraft food chain I've only paid $29 for an upgrade. I know of some who flocked from Acid Pro was Sonay wasn't developing it anymore. I tend to look at licensing as a major factor. I'm not surprised where Studio One is #2. I've been on other forums where they ditched Cubase. If I was just starting in this Bandlab, hands down. The bundled effects are no slouch. Few DAWs have a midi player. My favorite thing is to audition midi files and synth patches at the same time. I often wonder what the owner of Bandlab is doing. They own Music Tech and surprised this app in not on the DVD, or do I see any promotions.1 point

Thanks all of you for listening and commenting. I was a bit tired last evening and I think my ears played a few tricks on me. I have to agree with the mid heavy comments when listening back today. Thank you for confirming that. I will revisit the mix and knock down the mids some. David, the flute player is a big girl with a lot of wind1 point
