  3. Hi we currently don't support a "default" setting for the plugin, the workaround is to use presets. But since it's a useful feature we are going to add the request in our request list! Saverio

  4. You can download free VGM's from here https://www.zophar.net/music/sega-mega-drive-genesis , then use the RYMCast to sample the synth sounds and load them into RYM2612 to play them. I tried sampling a famous Sonic game music and was able to play the same synth sounds using the RYM2612 which is cool!

  9. I'm going to download all the free Labs instruments as a lot of them are great ... just in case. I can't handle any more subscriptions and use a Virtual Credit Card for any trials or "50% off" 1-year subscriptions (that I'd be more inclined to keep at the discounted price) - that way, when they try to "automatically" renew, the charge fails.

  12. Because it’s not over automated. It has on par sounds with those two but it’s not over complicated to select choice sounds. I have a good number of the main synth offerings out there. Spire is my first choice to reach to when adding a sound to a song. Also, the preset packs are very affordable to expand the libraries!

  16. Okay, more diving in the Reference Guide yielded this pearl: "If you want to use tap tempo during playback, first right-click the Tempo track and make sure Update BPM Display During Playback is disabled." That seems confusing, as I'm tapping I want it to update the BPM display, but I guess it refers to updating the display to show the current tempo at the playhead.

  17. So far since the commercial thing started with Prime, the commercials have been at the beginning of the movie. There haven't been any commercial breaks during a movie. I always see 2 short commercials before the movie starts, then they are uninterrupted. If they insist on commercials, this is the way to do it.

  18. I had never heard of Phil Keaggy until last night at about 2 am. The jam is long but stellar guitar work all the way through if you have the time. Some real cool stuff about 13:00. Has anybody ever heard of these guys?

  21. You didn't ask for advice, but speaking as someone who has given up making music for years at a time, then come back to it with greater enthusiasm and a different approach, yeah, don't sell your gear. The expensive mics, well maybe. But at least hang on to the minimum. I approach making music these days like a model railroad. It's fun to do in and of itself, and if someone else hears it and likes it, that's a bonus. To me, it's a way of communicating thoughts and feelings that can't be expressed in other ways. Nostalgia, grief, joy, serenity. I "hear" things in my head, or on the radio (mostly Soma.fm and KALX, the UC Berkeley station) and I want to make those sounds. So I do. When I finish a piece, it goes up on Bandcamp and YouTube. One thing I tossed off half a dozen years ago is up to over 600 views on YouTube. Woo-hoo! It's like dropping messages in a bottle. Before the rock star myth descended upon the world, music making was something that was just a part of people's homes. Have a piano, learn to play it, or have friends over who play, sit on the porch with the guitar, making music because it's something cool to do, like painting. You never know when you'll hear a new (to you) form of music and have it trigger a desire to MAKE SOUNDS LIKE THAT (as happened with messrs. Cobain and Mascis). I'm enjoying your album right now....

  22. It must be me but these things are a dime a dozen. I don't get wowed by these. It would take me a half hour to look through my software to find out how many I have. UJAM has plenty of these. The one from Air is great. There's D16 and there's Konakt libraries. UVI I think gave one away. If you have Reason they have some. To me it's like oh there's another compressor or EQ but shiny and new.

  26. If you restrict yourself to just using the BIAB VST plugin, most of the complexity is hidden. You literally pick a style, type in the chords, click Generate and press play within Cakewalk. If you like what you hear, you can drag the audio/MIDI tracks from the plugin on to the track view and work with them as normal clips.

  27. Thanks to @pwal³ for the link to the WinDbg app. I have never looked at a dump file before. The ones for CbB are all showing either TTS-1 or Kontakt. The TTS-1 I'm aware of and then I just went ahead and uninstalled all of Native instruments apps and the product manager. I didn't find any use for it other than the Steel Drums which is what started all that in the first place. The one Sonar crash dump that started this thread only points at Sonar exe. So I don't think it was Session drummer now that I can look inside the report. WHo knows what that was. It has been pretty rare for me to see a crash. But I have been installing a few new things lately. A very interesting find was that Motu's Digital performer crashed a few times and it looks like it's pointing at my Motu ASIO driver?? weird. Oh well i also have uninstalled Digital Performer. You crash! You Die! Then I have had a lot of crashes with Magix Movie Studio and those all pointed at a VST wrapper. Vegas has always used DX like Cakewalk. I removed all VST pathways ( I don't use them anyhow) and will see if that fixes that long standing issue. So thanks once again that kept me entertained for a few hours.

  29. My go to horn section I created using xPand 2 by Air. It is always on sale for like $10. If it not on sale I think it’s still a great synth sort of like DimPro but it has 4 separate players you can assign different channels or layer up parts like I did to make the horn section. Gives you total control of panning and 2 different effects sends. I noticed it was also included with the free version of Pro Tools. But I have no way to verify if it installed the VST version as Pro Tools uses AAX

  30. I know there are a few fans of the Fallout game franchise 'round these parts. Amazon Prime Video just release the Fallout series. Season 1 is 8 episodes. Season 2 has already been funded, but not yet approved by Amazon yet, so I have read. I binge watched the entire season. It is absolutely fantastic. I couldn't stop watching. There were a lot of bad pre-reviews based on the teaser trailers. They were all wrong. There is no woke, political, or religious content of any kind. It is strictly Fallout lore. They used a lot of the music from the game and added more and it all fits perfectly. For those who don't know about the game, it's a massive open world game that could take years to play. It's based on what's left of humanity after a nuclear war. It takes place in the future but the music, cars, houses, clothing, and setting looks like it's from the 1950's. The company that owns the game decided to make a TV series out of it. Anyway, it just came out a few days ago and I thought I'd mention it. It's really good, especially the soundtrack.

  36. For sure, one key shortcuts can do damage . . . I remember the "O" key used to enable (and disable) Offset Mode . . . great way to wreck a mix if you hit it by mistake, and carry on not noticing. Though my fav single key shortcut, that I learned here on this forum years ago, is reprogramming (in Preferences - Keyboard Shortcuts) the < and > keys. These can be set to cycle through the project Markers, no damage done.

  37. That's a fact. Twice I've had mine accidentally unplugged mid-song, and I was dead in the water for 2 minutes while it booted back up. Compare to the Nord, which takes < 10 seconds. That's because the Kronos stores libraries on SSDs and transfers a user-specified working set of them into RAM on boot up. The price of having 80GB of storage. And it is a heavy beast. Even worse (~81 lbs) when residing in its plywood flight case. I usually solicit aid from one of my bandmates when moving, setting up and tearing down, lest I do a number on my back. Still, the Kronos has been a real workhorse. Scrolling through the patch list is like scrolling through Omnisphere's enormous selection. I've also added some third-party libraries. So when the band asks if I've got a particular sound in there, I often tell them to check back with me tomorrow. Its UI can be rather obtuse when editing, even for basic things such as routing fx. In performance, though, it's great. The large color touchscreen is the best I've seen on a synth. I can create any number of set lists, organize patches any way I like, color-code, pan, transpose and EQ each slot - all without altering the underlying patches. From what I've read in the Montage manual, its Live Sets are just lists. Will know more after it arrives on Thursday. I think I will, too. Even though I can do the equivalent of Scenes with the Kronos (e.g. I have a bunch of EPs in one set list slot for easy switching/layering), the 8 illuminated buttons on the Montage will be quicker and less error-prone when playing live. In the edit screens, I'm seeing a common UI philosophy with my Yamaha mixer, which I like a lot. Yamaha's definitely gotten better at that sort of thing over the years. Maybe they've learned a thing or two from Steinberg. Apologies to the OP for hijacking the thread, and for all the words. I'm just excited to have a new synth on the way.

  40. Have you tried checking "Enable MCSS for ASIO Driver" in Preferences ? This was actually introduced in 2022.09, and defaults to unchecked as some drivers got upset when the DAW tried to override their setting. Prior to 2022.09 it would have been effectively "checked" as long as "Use MMCSS" was checked. You could also try turning off "Plugin Load Balancing" - as a processor with a high number of threads and using a small buffer size may actually spend far more resources context switching than it saves by balancing the load. The other thing to check is your ThreadSchedulingModel. Compare this to what you have set in X3.
