If you already have Waves plugins, it's worth checking the upgrade price which should be lower. https://everyplugin.com/waves-upgrades I know, many people around here have their problems with the way things work in the Waves universe. However, if you are ok with it, this is a great offer to get a "standard package" to get you started. Or a year of fresh WUP if needed.

  8. Sorry. I haven't yet watched the video. But a number of years ago I was involved with a company that produced high end LEDs , including for the US military. I was told that white LEDs were expensive to manufacture and that most "white" LEDs were blue LEDs with filters. It was green LEDs that were used for military purposes (landing planes on aircraft carriers) and the company had a patent for their method of producing green LEDs up to military standards.

  14. Hey all you Cakewalkers . . . here's another collaboration I've done with Mark Alan Skinner. I had this strumming acoustic guitar piece in my studio for a while , and just couldn't take it much further. Was trying to record a sampled mandolin part, which wasn't working right . . . so I sent a mix to Mark, who can actually play a mandolin ! Well, a few weeks go by and Mark recorded an acoustic guitar, a mandolin, and an upright bass . . . yeah, that's me singing and strum whacking acoustic guitar in the background. What can I say, the piece was transformed. Let us know what you think, and how the mix translates . . .

  15. Here's a fun collaboration I did with Craig Clontz (@craigclontz) and Fabian Bono (@fabass2020) over on Bandlab of this wonderful Amos Lee song. I am on vocals and keys, Craig is on guitar and drums, and the Fabian is on bass. They recorded their parts in BL, my vocs and keys recorded in CW. I then mixed and mastered everything in CW also. Not a perfect recording, but a bit of rawness kind of fits the song!

I can guarantee that the hacks in the first video work. I wished I found these years ago. I am now running at the lowest buffer size (32) with no problems at all. I'm not searching for any more hacks... I'm rock solid. 🙂

  24. It's time! At the last week I finally had all the parts together and put the computer together. Most of the software has been installed by me in the last two days and now it's time conducting initial sound checks and checking latency, etc. So far, the computer's speed and quietness have made me extremely happy (no background noise). The RME Raydat began working seamlessly as soon as it was placed in the correct PCIE slot. @John The small version of Windows 11 Home Edition has been working out wonderfully for me, especially since it takes up less storage space. I appreciate your suggestions regardless. The 32 GB of RAM seems to be sufficient for my computer. I want to express my gratitude to everyone for their valuable tips.😄

  29. They've been repeatedly running this deal on ADSR and AudioPlugin Deals -- often for $99 USD -- for years. I've seen influencers that get a kickback promoting CloudBounce, but I'd be interesting in getting an objective review (that is,a real review -- one where the person giving the critique isn't financially compensated by CloudBounce). Can anyone here who's used CloudBounce give a review or link to an unbiased.uncompensated review? The Trust Pilot reviews of CloudBounce are often brutal. CloudBounce has a 2.3/5 average on Trust Pilot. But most of the terrible reviews focus on CloudBounce's subscription / repeat billing practices, which isn't relevant for a lifetime deal. Of course, I'm interested in the quality of the mastering the tool produces and most of the reviews that mention that are flattering, however, it's pretty much impossible to discern who has expertise to judge the quality of CloudBounce's mastering services. That said, I found one reviewer at Trust Pilot who claimed expertise as a mixing engineer is a case study in megalomania. It's pretty over the top, so I don't find it very reliable: "In my capacity as a discerning mix engineer for esteemed artists, I undertook the endeavor of mastering two tracks...My credentials as an academic engineer, boasting a track record marked by hundreds of millions of streams and sales, underscore the gravity of this critique...In summation, as a mix engineer entrenched in the upper echelons of the industry,...My counsel, rooted in experience and a commitment to the sanctity of artistic expression, is resolute..." Umm. really??? Was it really too much to simply state your expertise with something like, "I'm an experienced pro mix engineer that's mixed hundreds of tracks over a xx year career with hundreds of millions of streams," and then give a review of the service? Consequently, I have still yet to find a credible review from a non-compensated audio pro or a credible audio journalist. If anyone knows of one or more, please share it. https://www.trustpilot.com/review/cloudbounce.com

  37. Release notes for EZkeys 2.0.4 2024-02-13 EZkeys 2.0.4 is now available to download using the Product Manager or from the ‘My Products’ area in your Toontrack account. Please note that version 2.0.4 is required for the support of EZkeys sound expansions (EKXs) released from this point forward (Q1 2024). CHANGES General Added support for the Session Organ EKX. See Session Organ EKX Manual for features specific to that library. EZkeys 2 can now be used in a fully functional trial mode for 10 days. The plug-in parameters are now named like the effect knobs that they control in the current preset, instead of always having the same generic names. In many more cases than before, the plug-in notifies the host when something in it is changed, so that the host project can be marked as modified. On macOS 14.2 or later, after the AU is resized in Apple DAWs on Apple silicon Macs, the dialog about the plug-in not able to get keyboard focus is no longer shown, because that issue was fixed in macOS. Song Track In the Track menu, “New Tab” was renamed to “New Song Track” and “Duplicate Current Track” to “Duplicate Current Song Track.” Grooves Tab Shift-space can now be used to start playback of the selected groove (when the groove list is in focus). The selected groove can now be copied via the context menu or with shortcut (by default cmd-C on Mac and ctrl-C on Windows) – so that it then can be pasted on the Song Track. Grid Editor Changed for how long notes are previewed when interacted with. Using mouse, they play for as long as the mouse is down (at most). Using keyboard, for example to move notes, they play for up to half a bar. Highlight Keys can now be turned off by pressing the active button in the Highlight Keys options. The pedal editor popup menu now has CC numbers to the right of each option. Pedal blocks can now be copy-pasted into the CC curve editor. “Remove Selected” was renamed to “Remove” in the context menu in the CC editor. Editing CC nodes will in many cases no longer cause MIDI blocks to get merged. Submenus in the CC editor menu are now highlighted if any CC within is active. In String Machine EKX, “Expression” is now in the static part of the CC editor menu. Recording CC events on the song track will now automatically add these to the recent section of the CC editor menu. Bandmate A headphone button has been added to solo a Bandmate track. BUG FIXES Keys Tab If notes are played outside the regular range of the instrument, you can now see on the keyboard and in the chord display what playable notes they get transposed to. Song Track The standalone would crash if audio was exported with more than one output channel selected for the audio device in Audio/MIDI Setup. Drawing chords above MIDI on the song track could sometimes alter the MIDI. Copy-dragging MIDI on a song track with key signature changes did not generate the correct (same) MIDI. Notes on the MIDI blocks should no longer sometimes blink during playback. CC that was bound with MIDI Learn was not possible to record on the song track. Bass notes added by EZkeys can no longer become longer than the chord. When the bass note is changed for a chord, the result should be better in some cases now. Changing to a new chord where the relative bass note is the same will no longer cause a bass note to get added to the MIDI. Recording only CC values would cause the recorded block to always start at bar 1. Dropping MIDI on the song track from the browser with Original Key engaged could cause the resulting MIDI to be rendered wrong. EZkeys removing overlaps, for example when Humanize is toggled, could unnecessarily move notes or make notes really short. Edit Play Style If Amount adds a note on top of a longer note, the long note is now shortened so that it ends before the added note and the added note is made longer. Changing Amount would cause a crash if the first MIDI block on the song track was less than 4 quarter notes long. Modifying the Length or Velocity knobs would not always apply the last value changed to. Fixed a potential crash when changing Length or Velocity in Edit Play Style. Using the Edit Play Style controls no longer closes the chord wheel. Suggest Chords Changing chords could leave notes ringing. Grooves Tab Replace MIDI now works faster on large MIDI blocks. Dragging MIDI from Grooves to the host or the desktop now properly sets the name of MIDI files so they can be located again in the Grooves tab. CC events were not included in Web Shop MIDI. Fixed some graphical issues in the popup showing what expansion a Web Shop MIDI groove belongs to. Grid Editor The height of black keys in the grid editor piano roll was not following the zoom level correctly. Humanize can no longer move notes so they start before the start time of their block, as that could make them disappear. When Humanize had changed the start time or end time of a note, that time would linger around when trying to drag that note later, so it got its previous times back. Moving notes by a tiny amount could in some cases only move them graphically and not change their timing. Automatic merging of blocks when MIDI events are added between them will happen in less cases now. Merging MIDI blocks should no longer cause new CC ramps to get created. Instead, new CC nodes may get inserted. The CC editor was not updated when note editing caused MIDI blocks to get merged, which could lead to various issues. CC lines to the left of the first node in each block, except the first block, were not drawn. Notes should no longer sometimes blink during playback. Moving over an existing note with the Pencil Tool selected, the mouse cursor now shows a minus instead of a plus, since a click deletes the note. Having a corrupted MIDI database or some other issue that causes a read error upon opening the database now displays a proper error dialog including a “Rebuild Database” button (instead of only a header stating “Read Error”). Using the Split tool where multiple notes are located and selected would only split one of the notes instead of all. The Lock Highlights button wasn’t automatically enabled when Highlight Keys was turned on by pressing Scale Snap. Scale Snap will no longer turn off Highlight Keys if it was not the button that turned it on. Bandmate The Octave controls were too restrictive. Transient velocities were not correctly saved in projects, and that could even cause Bandmate to become empty when a project was loaded in a DAW. A MIDI file is now properly auto-selected after the input file has finished loading even if the Grooves database is busy with installing updates or similar. Duplicating the output MIDI to match the input MIDI length did not correctly duplicate the CC nodes. Standalone In the standalone, switching between certain GUI scales with the window at minimum width or height could cause thin lines to appear in various buttons and other GUI elements.

  39. Storage is relatively cheap now. SSD drive can act up after so many writes and deletes. Samsung has an app the Magician that can test your drives including their speed and health. I had a 3 year old drive acting up as between audio and video editing it was slowing down from all that use. It was less than half full. For $48 each I bought 2- 500 GB drives and used the Magician to clone both my C drive and the dying data drive. Super cheap and easy upgrade. I couldn’t believe how perky the computer became. The cloning process took under an hour for both. I am going to make this a routine every 2 years now for my “Working” data drive. The old drive I will leave the data on it will becomes a 3rd storage backup. The old 3rd drive goes in a shoebox. Much later after I determined the 2 new drives were good to go I took he old drives and formatted them using the slow method. When I tested them again they were now running at about 80 % of specs. So I used them as extra data drive for backups in another computer. I haven’t defragged a drive since W7. I wasn’t even aware you could do that in W10.

  41. Barry . . . it starts with that AM radio broadcast, then the vocals come in accentuating those very same AM radio frequencies., probably too much 1-5K. @garybrun suggestion will help this a lot. Interesting that the lyrics are all so clear to understand, but not pleasing to the ear in that middle range, it's a delicate balance. It is a bit different for you, more synth driven, than guitar driven . . . good song idea, and really liked the lyrics . . . fix that vocal mix, and you've got another winner !

  42. Hi Wookiee . . . super symphony of synthesizers ! Lots of upbeat movement, with that air of danger lurking in the back, the familiar feeling we all know. From there to there, and here to here, and there to here, and here to there, and everything in between. Curious, are all the toys you list "in the box", or do you have a collection of old analog hardware synths in your studio ? (lurking in the back)

  44. Back before SONAR X1 was released, the default shortcuts for From=Beginning and Thru=End were Ctrl+F9 and Ctrl+F10. I restored these shortcuts when they were removed because I had over 10 years of muscle memory invested in them. I did the same for From=Now (F9), Thru=Now (F10), Go to From (F7) and Go to Thru (F8). At the time, there were no shortcuts assigned to any of these by default so far as I know. I was never aware of Shift+Alt+F6 and don't know when that might have been implemented. I suspect it's a one-off, and default shortcuts for the other permutations mentioned above were never re-defined. I recommend you create your own for all of them using whatever key combos make sense and are not already assigned to something else you need.

  48. This was an experiment. I bought Band in a Box because my 14 year old Grandson has taken up playing guitar and has written 30 songs already. His songs are actually good as country music goes. He writes about Pick up trucks and his favorite hat, etc. He has a good sense of song structure but is not really there yet with his playing. I proceeded to learn how to use Band in a Box. The idea was he could learn to pick a style and play around with different chords and arrangements on his own. Then export it as midi and we would finish it in Cakewalk. I then found out how limiting Band in a Box is. The midi it exports apparently is for the notation display. It's bare bones. Example a steel guitar will have mod wheel pitch bends that sound cool in Band in a Box but they do not export. Apparently band in a Box doesn't really use Midi or Midi instruments it uses Real Tracks. I imagine they are sample loops that kinda drift around the chord changes. Anyhow for a laugh I entered the chords for this old song of mine and as exported the midi to create a TTS-1 project in Cakewalk. I then exported the Steel guitar as an audio track because as I said the midi sucked. I had to fix a bunch of spots that sounded terrible using Melodyne. Then I've totally replaced all but the midi drum part. The rest sounded like,,, well, Band in a Box.
