  1. Decent Samples have released a free Mandolin sample library. https://www.decentsamples.com/product/stella-mandolin/ They also have other freebies on their site of oddball things such as a desk lamp, a kettle, but also rare instruments such as a Folk Art Violin and Banjo. Worth checking out.

  4. Not True. The history of these libraries is long, confusing and convoluted, however, there is a lot of cool stuff in the "original" adagio. There are many more variations of the arcs in the original adagio, but at a cost of a lot of hard drive space. You may need to clarify with them that you are looking for the original Adagio content, that they no longer sale. That's what I did and for a small charge of $8 they will provide it for you, assuming you already own Anthology. The nice thing about Anthology or the more recent Adagio 2.0 series (an update and cleanup to the "sound" of Anthology - see what I mean about being confusing?) is the interface overhaul to make composing easier and more streamlined. The original Adagio was a bit of a mess in that every instrument was a bit of its own interface without a streamlined workflow, however the number of Arcs were abundant and pretty cool. Anthology and Adagio 2.0 was stripped down to 2 arcs along with only 2 types of legatos, whereas the original had more than that, depending on the instrument. For overall composing, I think the new interface is much better, but every once in a while when you're looking for something unique, it's worth having the old Adagio. PS- you migh also be able to get the newer Adagio 2.0 series as well for a small surcharge if you ask. It's basically the same interface and recordings as Anthology but supposedly more cleaned up "sound" (less muffled) compared to Anthology

  6. Just to clarify the history of these libraries. First, there was Adagio. It contained solos and ensembles and multiple legatos and multiple arcs. Then there was Adagietto, which was just the ensembles from Adagio. Then there was Anthology, which was a new interface for Adagio to streamline workflow. They kept 2 of the "best" legatos and arcs and dumped the rest. Then there came Adagio 2.0 to address the complaint that some of the processing to the recordings in Anthology was too heavy handed and made it more muffled sounding, and so Adagio 2.0 was born and I believe that is the only difference from Anthology but I'd have to check them side by side to be 100% sure but close enough and I'm to lazy to check 😉

  8. BTW, if Men At Work's "Down Under" is a rip off of Kookaburra (as some court somewhere has decided), I nominate "Down Under" as being much better than the original.

  11. I think it's less than 95%. For example, I'm looking at the two instruments side by side and in the Cello ensemble patch alone - The original Adagio has 7 legato types and Anthology has 3. Here are the names of the ones in Adagio Cello Ensemble patch (the old adagio) Legato Cantabile Legato Dolce Legato emo Slur Legato Instinct Legato Perdition Legato Soft Slur Legato Village In the Cellos Anthology Ensemble Patch you get: Legato 1 Legato 2 Sordino Legato That's just comparing one patch and the Legatos only in the patch . There are also Arcs and Loure's and sustains and shorts that we can compare within that one patch.

  13. Every once in a while I go into plug in manager and I exclude all the plug ins I haven't been using. I don't bother un installing them because someday I might want them back. I might occasionally remove ones I know were real bad news so I won't be tempted. to use them again. But excluding them takes them off the lists and keeps things tidy. Don't forget that you might have installed 3 versions of the same plug in. The 32 bit, 64 bit and the VST3. Take note of the colour of the name on the list.

  20. I want to want these, but listening to the YouTube demos hasn't really convinced me. Exhale, Signal and the Analog twins sound like any other synth to my ears, but then again I'm not a connoisseur. Substance seems interesting, but I think I can get enough bass from some synth I already own. Also, I'm concerned that Output is allegedly putting all its eggs in the Arcade basket and hasn't updated the instruments or released new soundbanks in years. In principal, I don't mind using old and working products and there are probably already more sounds than I would need, but it still feels like I would be investing in products that are already on their way out. If Output allowed third parties to create soundbanks and extensions for their instruments, it would be a different situation. It's interesting, though, that I wouldn't think like this about an orchestral library...

  22. I would like to see ARA 3 with 32-bit support and colored blobs with track color information passed on to Melodyne per track. Orange blobs all stacked on top of each other is messy as heck. Many have requested colored blobs per track to Celemony support and they have so far opted not to acquiesce. I requested colored blobs/track 4 or 5 years ago. The grid lines are also hard to see in Melodyne sometimes even with high contrast set all the way up. Another feature request that has failed to materialize.

  28. I think some older FAQs are kept around for historical purposes, including the one with the old GC purchase prices. Notice the reference to AT 3 and the "Click ADD CREDITS . . . . " Not putting IK down here, just suggesting that the FAQ with the discounted GC prices might not be current.

  29. Thanks for the recommendations!!. After reviewing their instrument options and listening to the videos on the Output.com site, the only one that really seems like it would currently work for me is Exhale, which is not (for me) worth paying $199, so I think I'll keep an eye on the NI offers and see if at some point they will offer a super deal on Exhale alone.

  30. Exhale was the one that got me the most, as it was one of the first “vocals-based” instruments of that kind. Next, Analog Strings. In the end I got them all, with the expansions. And definitely their remarkably creative FX, like Portal and Thermal.

  32. Hi SeaDragonet and welcome to the Cakewalk forums. Tell us how you are invoking the Piano Roll. Do you use the menu bar (View>Piano Roll) or are you double clicking on the desired clip? When I have a screen set with the multidock docked at the bottom, I just double click on the desired clip and the Piano Roll opens as a tab in the multidock. Kind regards, tecknot

  35. I will disagree at least with the ratio of Quality to price. These are basically freebies. I'm pretty picky about sounds and while these instruments might not be ones other people would use I play traditional bluegrass, folk, rock and country. I mostly look for vintage instruments especially eclectic pianos. Possibly some of the stuff sucks but my collection so far have been very high quality. Simple yes, Some only make one sound but that's also fine by me. I actually used some of these instruments when they were new and I think the problem some might have is these were mostly one trick ponies and cannot be compared to a modern synth or piano. They used weird inventions to attempt to make a piano portable. I've a pretty big collection of electric pianos some I even paid more than I should have for. Glassy is all over a lot of my tracks as well as it was the one I chose for live gigs because it's solid. Colla B I also use live but it's not quite good enough for my recordings, close but not as good as Air DB33. I haven't done much with these new ones but I'm pretty stoked about the Melox Pro Melodion. I used to own a real one 20 years ago and I had used it on recordings to emulate Accordion stuff. It sort of like a human powered reed organ. So far this one is sounding very usable and is a unique sound which for $10! This is an image of what a Melodion looks like.

  37. I remember some discussions of these older plug-ins. Not sure if this post will be helpful, but since I found it, I thought I'd mention it. Its a long shot, but it might be worthwhile to see if they are in the excluded list. Another thought: If they have been scanned but are just not showing up in the browser, could they be hidden by a plugin layout file. Again, a long shot, but might be worth looking into. I defer to others who make more use of these plugins, the plug-in manager, etc.

  38. As CbB is not really aware of what you have done in Melodyne you need to render region FX for it to do so. When you open a region FX Melodyne you in effect transfer the audio to Melodyne.

  39. Yeah, this is still broken and it's been reported. What you should be able to do is switch to Desktop Mode (look for the 3 dots at the top of the screen) and then pinch to zoom in to see the stuff you want to click. Not ideal, but it'll get you over the line. Hopefully the devs get onto this soon. Things like messages and notifications are also missing in the mobile view too.

  40. They also typically work best with the specific EZX or SDX drum kit they were created with, that is, they use specific kit pieces defined in a specific drum map.

  42. Rewind for a second here, please. Is your Alesis a USB cable connection (I am assuming it is, rather than a 5-pin DIN connection)? If so, there is no reason not to plug that directly into your computer that comes to mind. For the older 5-pin connections, that was a reason to get an audio interface with those connectors, but it carried the possibility of nerfing keyboard features. If that Alesis plugs directly into the computer via USB, that is what you want (and you will see all the functionality of the keyboard). An audio interface is only needed to get audio in and out, not MIDI. MIDI can go in separately, get processed and come out as audio. If running MIDI through an interface, it is pretty much a pass-through. The interface will be visible to the DAW, and see the MIDI passing through it there, but again the functionality may be limited.

  43. All of which have quite a bit of tweakability. This isn't like a snapshot preset system. I have the full version but have never entered the edit page other than to see what it looks like. The full version would let you create instruments you can sell (or give away) to others. And that Melda Grand is easily worth the $40 alone for anyone with gigs of space it takes up.

  44. That's how I bought the bundle originally back in 2020. Got a free M1 LE Key with a miniature midi keyboard, and waited for the sale and upgraded for $199. Since then the collection has grown twice and I've paid $49 twice to upgrade it. So total outlay has been $298. To put that into perspective in that time I also bought Arturia's V Collection for $299 and upgraded it twice for $129 and $99. Total outlay $527. V Collection had been $249 to buy in the year before I first bought it, so it has gone up by $50 in a similar timeframe. Unlike many other companies in this business, Korg only charges for the new products they've added to the bundle. Updates to existing products are free. And on sale the upgrade price is quite reasonable. That's the kind of business model I'm happy to get on board with and to support.

  45. Great vid Xel Ohh. Most of your cons though have very simple work arounds so they're really not deal breakers for me. 1. Free and cheap samplers are everywhere. I have at least a dozen installed. Waves introduced one just last year. I got it for like $9 2.Track folder with multi-inst and assigned midi or drum maps. Save as template and you only have to do that once. Boom multi outs. 3. As far as the FX... listeners can't hear your GUI. Back in the day your whole DAW would look like that. In fact your whole operating system would, but platinum hits were still being made on them. Function over form. 4. Bonus: Many don't know this but SI Instruments have several built in presets. Click where it says Default Prog and a browser menu will pop up with many instrument presets.

  47. Whatever the range the meters are set to, the actual reading stays the same. If the actual level is -6db: If the meters are set tom -100 to -1 it will show -6. If the range is set to -7 to -5, it will show -6. If the range is set to -4 to -2, you will see nothing because -6 is below the bottom of the meter. If the range is set to -20 to -9 the reading will shoot through the top of the meter, because -6 is more than -9. What you are looking at is "meter resolution", not volume adjustment. It doesn't matter how strong your magnifying glass is, if there are only 3 tots left in the whiskey bottle it is 3 tots. No matter how big they look, it is still only 3 tots. Put them in a test tube - 11 inches of whiskey - still only 3 tots. Empty the bottle into the swimming pool - level goes up less then a millimeter. But it WAS 3 tots. Really, it was. Track 1 with the recorded audio ranging from -12 to -6 is just fine. Be happy. When you are recording from the Korg the level is a bit on the low side. Look for level controls on the Korg and the audio interface (if you have one). Open Windows' volume control and find a record/input level there. If you find somewhere to turn the level up, record at about -18. This gives you headroom to mix (which adds everything up, more or less.) If you can manage that, use Input Gain on prerecorded audio to match your successful recording level. Even if -24 is the best you can manage, you cam turn the pre-recorded audio down to match. BTW It could be that your Korg just has a very low output level.
