  1. I use a Chrome extension called Fakespot. It's a handy addition because it warns you about fake reviews on Amazon. This is what it says about the site linked in the OP: Whois shows the ownership of worldofsoftwar (sic) has been obfuscated through a third party. This is common practice when the site owners don't want you to know who they really are. Their contact info is "withheldforprivacy.com". Registrant name is "Redacted for Privacy".

  3. From PG Email... Say HELLO!! to Modern Cinema - Renegade for Unify! Create by PlugInGuru family member Bob Dedes (he's written demo songs for libraries I've released starting in 2005 with MegaMagic: Dreams!) Bob has created a Power Packed High Energy 82 Patch + Sample library that is actually 6 different libraries in one: 1 - Cinematic Percussion - huge impacts, toms, hand claps, body slams and more! 2 - Sound Design - Sub and Organic Hits, sweeps, swooshes - awesome for all genres of music production. 3 & 4 - Ear Candy - Stings, vocal chops, stabs, brass hits PLUS lots of other cool elements to add to a track. 5 - Music Instruments - Synth & Electric Bass, Insane and fun to play Electric Guitars, Synths and Vocals. NOTE: ALL of the Hits, Percussion Instruments and Instruments contain between 4 - 8 round robin samples for incredible depth and realism. 1 Guitar alone has 5 velocity layers of 8 round robin samples - over 1,600 samples for 1 the IBZ Cruncher (HI MEM) Patch! This 1 guitar has 5-velocity layers and 8 samples per note with every note sampled for 3 1/2 octaves! They sound so good! 6) A 650MB WAV Library of all the above PLUS additional hits, fx as well as percussion and guitar loops - PLUS all 12 demo songs Bob wrote are available as separated tracks for you to be able to study what he did. Get ideas of ways to spice up your productions from these, then fire up Unify, load up the sounds he used and write that hit track! This BONUS should be a separate purchase but we're including it because it is SO HELPFUL for everybody! Over 8,000 Samples, 12GB in size, this is a library like NOTHING we've ever released before! Retail is $89 but intro offer is $69 https://www.pluginguru.com/products/modern-cinema-renegade/ There's also a walkthrough video of it here... Saturday Livestream Agenda: We will definitely play with Modern Cinema - Renegade but maybe more exciting is we will interview Bob Dedes about the building of this library! There is also a new synth by Cherry Audio. We will play with that too! Join us Saturday at 12pm PDT Livestream Link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFO1D5pUFJ0

  4. To answer the original post: Is ripple edit necessary? Not at all. That doesn't mean it's not a very useful feature for some users' workflows. So is the Matrix View. I don't use either feature. Come to think of it, the list of features I don't use is pretty extensive. Somebody else likely considers each of them essential.

  5. I just use a combination of healthy skepticism, common sense and critical thinking. First clue: "softwar" as in "worldofsoftwar.com." I had to force that past the spell checker. Second clue: just the name worldofsoftwar sounds funky. Even if it was spelled correctly. Third clue: W10 pro for ten bucks? Yeah, right. Autocad for $100? Autocad is a subscription of $1,775/paid annually, $220/paid monthly or $5,060/paid every 3 years. (Copy/ pasted from Autodesk's website.)

  6. Yes, +1 from me. I would like the option to tell Cakewalk that the mouse's scroll wheel should only scroll the view vertically, rather than alter controls.

  7. I'm not sure how the mix-off site will work out, but so far it looks like it will be "promoting" artists. In case anyone is not aware, here's THE free mutli-track library site hundreds of tracks and tips from a super knowledgeable guy. It also has a forum if that's what you're after too https://www.cambridge-mt.com/ms/mtk/

  9. Randy Rhoads left this earth 40 years ago today as a result of a senseless accident. Hard to believe it's been so long. His style had evolved quite a bit between Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman. He had so much more to give. Crank up some Rhoads today in his memory.

  14. Well, if Komplete 14 follows what happened with Komplete 10, 11, 12, and 13... then it will come out by early fall of this year--probably August or September. One of the versions will include EVERY instrument or library that NI officially released after Komplete 13, and many new expansions. All these libraries might be in CE, or maybe this year will be CE Ultimate Ultimate Ultimate. But it's not going to all be in Ultimate. Based on previous years, expect a lot of new libraries to come out between now and then, all of which will be included And then there will be a half price sale in spring/summer 2023. That's the way it's been in the past, but who knows what will happen this year. I expect that they will still sell Komplete, but they may also offer a subscription similar to the one EastWest has, so you can get everything as it comes out.

  18. I'm sure this has been suggested before, but I may have missed it. Why not put a solo button on ProChannel modules, especially the QuadCurve flyout? A third party CW user once did this (Panup), and it was incredibly useful.

  19. I run VUMT after it to gain match.... annoying, ah well. I understand the idea of doing hardware emulations, but automatic gain control would be nice. PA should add that feature into there added functionality section of their plugins. I'm referring to the section of their plugins that has TMT, headroom, monomaker, etc. Why not put it there?

  20. It was $49 on the 20th of January with code CELESTION50 I picked it up at the time. I thought it offered a lot of options for the money, and liked the fact it was not another one of those plugins that exists to sell in-app content, such as IRs/DynIRs etc. With this one all the content is included in the initial asking price. Probably the downside of all its options is you need to know what you're doing to get a good result, a bit like with Amplitube 5's cab modelling. Whereas with something like GGD Cali or Zilla it has a small number of options that just work (at least for high gain stuff) so you can dial in something that sounds good really quickly. Definitely one to demo before buying so you'll know what you're getting.

  22. Didn't SONAR get this feature 5 years ago or so? I know that it's always been there in Cakewalk by BandLab. This is the first I've seen anyone question its need to exist. I do remember a pretty huge clamor (and rightly so) to get a visual indicator of ripple edit status, it seemed like the #1 request at the time, so there must be some people using the feature. I don't, I'm way more likely to need to add measures (my intro ideas come later), so Insert Time/Measures with all the scoot boxes checked is fine for me. So "don't need it/don't use it" works fine, too. And I expect when I do a plain vanilla delete that it will delete only the events and so forth that I selected while leaving everything else alone (unless I have ripple edit turned on). I would consider it an annoyance to have to answer a dialog about exactly what I wanted to delete each time, if that's how it used to be. I suspect that it's a commonly seen feature in other programs, and people making the switch wanted to be able to use it in Cakewalk. Sometimes you don't know that a feature is "missing" unless you're used to it from another program, where you may be using it all the time. 4 years on I still miss the full-length tails on markers that Mixcraft (and Studio One) has, but I would REALLY miss quick grouping and the ability to hide lanes if I had to switch back to Mixcraft.

  23. Well, we just had an invasion of People Who Don't Want The Mousewheel To Work On Controls. Maybe the ProChannel is their only respite from relentless accidental knob tweaks. So, the cry is "extend the functionality of the mousewheel and allow that functionality to be turned off." Or something. Anyway, I'd love a solo button on the EQ flyout.

  25. @DallasSteve I'm not sure. It looks like the enhancements I'm referring to were in the 2021.01 release. I remember thinking at the time that I wouldn't use them so I didn't pay that much attention. But I'm going to spend some time going through the release notes this weekend. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/24957-202101-update-1-updated-29-jan-2021/&tab=comments#comment-206718

  26. I am looking forward to seeing you during Saturday morning's livestream. The adventure will take us through some really interesting and sometimes crazy instruments. The new 88E from Impact Soundworks is a quirky FREE piano library for the Free Kontakt player, oh did I mention it was FREE???? ;^) Also the Soniccouture Clavichord is on intro special as well. As always, I will be chatting and answering your questions about the latest things going on in the world of sample libraries and music technology. I look forward to seeing you there:

  27. I clicked on the link too, now, and several times a long time ago. It was the typical say a lot of nothing type stuff when buyouts like this happen. I thought we had talked about this before that's why I was shocked to see it again but I must be wrong. No harm in talking about it again though either. I still stand by my thoughts on it. And it still doesn't matter what myself or anyone thinks because they're going to do what they are going to do no matter what they say now and we have 0% input in it. It sure is a good DAW and if they ever do start to charge for it again it's worth it, now. It wasn't when they were charging for it, in my opinion.

  29. I emailed him when they had a sale for Tantra 2 at $49. I asked if there was an additional price drop for Tantra 1 owners. He was very kind and told me no, that the $49 was all he could do. But he thanked me for being a customer. So I figured (rightly so) that PA would have a sale like this at some point and I would get it then.

  30. Ideally, I think self-taught plus school taught is better than either one alone. Formal education doesn't make you a musician, it teaches you both the theory and how to efficiently use the tools. If you have the music in you (talent) formal education plus your talent combined makes you an accomplished musician. That isn't to say that without formal education you cannot be a great musician. Without the education, it's just a harder, more time-consuming climb to get where you are going. I'd rather listen to a self-taught expressive musician than a trained musician without any talent. In the end, I don't care about how you acquired your skills, do I like what you are playing? Or not? Is all that matters. Insights and incites by Notes ♫

  33. Definitely a pirate site. The first clue? NOTE : THIS IS A PRE-ACTIVATED VERSION (THE PRODUCT KEY WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY ADDED TO THE SOFTWARE DURING THE INSTALLATION PROCESS) In other words, you will not need to authorize the software with Spectrasonics. There is no way this is legit.

  34. Oh yeah, my main machine is something of a beast It's great. But I've got a couple of orchestral templates that are HUGE, and it made sense to farm out some of the libraries. Also, frankly it was fun to setup and experiment with.

  35. I have it, and currently use a two computer setup. I built myself a brand new i9 uber-machine this past spring, and re-tasked my previous DAW as a VE Pro 7 server so that it could run some of the instruments in my orchestral template. It's not a bad way to go, although I haven't found VE Pro to be seamless or completely stable. When it works, it works really well. But I've had a few issues with my main DAW not being able to find or reconnect to the VE Pro server when I load up a project; the VE Pro server will occasionally start CPU spiking for no reason I can figure out and I have to close and reload the server instruments. Stuff like that. There are work-arounds for it all, but it can be a bit annoying. But if you're running a big template of high-end libraries, it's nice to be able to offload some of the processing.

  39. I have a couple of Xtant Audio sample libraries, including their glockenspiel, which is only $5 USD regular price, I believe (I've been in love with that instrument since I was a kid and played it in the school band; I own a real one and probably have a dozen glockenspiel sample libraries). I consider the developer's libraries some hidden gems, really high quality libraries, well scripted and high quality samples, that are very affordable. He has a long history of doing scripting and libraries for some of the most well known KONTAKT sample library developers today. so if you use KONTAKT libraries, you may already be using a library he worked on (his Xtant Audio site is where he lists who he's done work for; I don't know him, I'm just a paying customer giving my honest feedback, not an influencer that makes a sales commission on the sales for products they positively "review"). I'm not sure if I'm going to pick up this library, but for anyone thinking about it, if you like what you hear, I don't think you can go wrong with this developer based on my experience with his libraries.
