  3. I have been playing with the Absynth and Massive patches this week. Massive is a powerful synth, but not the easiest to get good patches out of. A lot of of the free presets I've heard for this synth are not worth the time to download. These patch sets, however, are good enough to justify bumping the thread.

  7. (text form email announcement) The Unfinished 10th Anniversary Twenty Twelve Eight re-released soundsets now available to download for free! Note this link takes you to The Unfinished freebie page where there are 11 other free libraries offered! Back in 2012, I started my journey as The Unfinished. To kick off my 10th anniversary celebrations I have decided to make the eight soundsets I released that year available to download for free. All eight were removed from my site a little while ago in a clean-up operation but, were still available as part of either the Massive Bundle or the Absynth Bundle. Now, they are available to all and absolutely free! The soundsets are Absynth Geometron, Absynth Heliopolis, Absynth Metatron, Massive Ammunition, Massive Darkscore I, Massive Darkscore II, Massive Darkscore III and Massive Stratosphere. There are over 900 sounds in the collection. These are the soundsets that inspired my first forays into bespoke programming and also gave me the confidence to quit my job, move to London to live with my then girlfriend (now wife) and begin this whole mad adventure, so they all mean a great deal to me. Take care of them! To reflect their free release into the wild, the prices for both the Absynth and Massive Bundles has been reduced. If you have bought either bundle recently, get in touch and I will be happy to provide a partial refund reflecting this. Right, I'm off to create some wallpapers for the website, so you can enjoy some of your favourite The Unfinished artwork on your desktop. All the best, Matt

  9. I'm as big a critic of IKM as anyone but Peter on the whole is ok - he's obviously paid by IKM so of course he's going to 'sell' the company line - but bear in mind he has NO obligation to come on here for you (or us!) to abuse him 🕊️ yes these things are annoying but ultimately you have to learn to live with it - you only have to watch the news to see there are FAR worse things that can happen. Personally I'd very, very politely email IKM support and explain that you only bought it last week - they may well 'upgrade' you - I've had them look after me like that in the past...obviously no promises.... just my opinion obviously.

  10. It's always good that TS Max users, Modo Drum Uses, and Modo Drum SE users can ALL upgrade for the exact same price! Makes perfect sense!

  11. I always thought 10 was an 'odd' number of faders to put in a hardware unit. 8 or 16 or 24 is what I would expect to see. For me dealing with 16 tracks of recorded (live) drums I prefer 16 faders, thus I'm glad I got the Presonus Faderport 16 (and I still do have the console1) before the Console 1 Fader unit was announced. @cclarry going with the fader unit (also acting as a console1) would/could be a plus for you out of the gate.

  19. For what it's worth, I prefer SPL Iron and Elysia Alpha Comp more than any SSL Buss compressor I've used. Once again both of these are different to each other. Iron I use more for buss duties and glue, Alpha I use more for mastering, as it's so versatile and great sounding. I'll often A-B Iron against some of the various SSLs from a number of Devs on a song and end up using Iron more often. But sometimes the SSL sound just fits better. That's why it's good having a few different options 🙂 Personally I prefer both of these to Shadow Hills as well, even though I know the Shadow Hills are lots of people's favourite.

  22. Updates for all plug-ins We have just released minor updates for all FabFilter plug-ins on macOS and Windows with various bug fixes, and we recommend everyone to update to these latest plug-in versions. See the release notes for a full list of changes. https://www.fabfilter.com/download Fixed graphical glitches (e.g. in real-time analyzer displays), which could occur when using an NVIDIA graphics card in an older Mac. Fixed an issue where interface animations could become choppy when using monitors with very high refresh rates on Windows (e.g. 240 Hz). Pro-Q: Fixed a crash which could occur when Cmd/Ctrl+clicking the Q value in the parameter value display of a curve, while the piano scale is visible. Timeless 3: Fixed missing modulation visualization in the filter display (accidentally disabled in the previous minor update). Timeless 3: Fixed a possible crash when dragging the main tap in the delay display, while Feedback Pan was set all the way to -1 or 1. Volcano 3: The mouse wheel now works correctly with curves using the Band Pass shape, changing the slope of the filter. Minor bug fixes.

  26. As per usual, all I want is off the list... They loose so much money with their weird pricing schemes and tricks... It's almost sickening how much they try to manipulate us in their buying hysteria... Well it is a business after all, but starts to feel rather cheesy ... I mean the title.. ANY ... then small print... well not any, and just 3 $ bellow the threshold to use your monthly 25 $ voucher... ah well

  28. Half true... because if your background is in synth programming and live performance (with synths and controllers), then knobs will feel more natural to use for certain automatisations... at least for me... but one can of course adjust. I love my big knobs on Hydrasynth for that!

  30. Right you are! Just use Skippy's method of dropping BPM Drums into everything! 😂 For example, start with a cool Quadra split preset, then switch your Unify library browser to UniLoFi (or anything with BPM Drums), set to insert preset automatically as a new layer. Then add search text "drum" to narrow down the list, and choose a chill BPM Drum groove at random by using the dice to audition different grooves. Now you're jamming!!! Love them dice!

  31. That's some deal @Fwrend! I haven't used Vegas in a while (v15 was the last one I purchased) as I moved to DaVinci Resolve, but I notice the NewBlue FX page says that it is compatible with Resolve. Would be nice to know whether the NewBlue stuff in this deal is tied to use with Magix Vegas/Movie Studio though before buying.

  34. Wow. That looks exactly like my grandmother's piano. I used to love the tone it produced. My grandparents were Dust Bowl refugees in the 30's. Before moving out West to homestead in Montana, they sold or gave away everything they owned, which wasn't much . Everything but that piano. Grandma wouldn't part with it. They travelled on a flatcar, as they couldn't even afford a seat on the train. I wouldn't be surprised if they had jam sessions on that flatbed to pass the time. They did well in Montana, becoming successful cattle ranchers before eventually moving to the Idaho panhandle shortly before I met them. Grandpa played guitar and mandolin. His band played Saturday nights at the Grange hall, a lively event that carried on until daybreak. It's part of the reason I wanted to join a band in my teens. Well, that and to impress girls.

  35. Thanks for the info. I was (and still am) logged in. But I see MODO DRUM CS in my user area. So, maybe I clicked on that thinking that like Syntronik 2 CS it would add something; not sure. If so, maybe having the CS version wiped out my $79 offer. Not a big deal for me, though. I have plenty of other drums. Hope IKM can get their act together for the sake of others.

  39. Agree... exactly the same usage here, Elysia Alpha at mastering Iron at mixing... I also have real Iron and G bus clone (Tk Audio) on my hardware mix inserts. I like the results, but Tk g-bus comp does extremely little compression, sometimes not even visible at all - and at a ration of 1:2... nice additional glue. Iron hardware compresses more, on my hardware insert - about 1db on average. PA Iron plugin is extremely good tool for mixing. Shadow Hills Mastering Comp I use for it's dual compressor capabilities at mixing stage and for a different flavour.... never in Mastering though 🙂 Just my 2 cents 🙂
