  2. Cakewalk Team I started with Cakewalk ~10 days ago and so did a first pass through the full ~1950 pages of reference documentation. Very Well done, nice work. Not only as a reference to all the features and capabilities, but also for including valuable tips/guidance for usage. Already feeling very much at home with the product, especially due to the tremendous fast help received from the forum leaders/members. Kudos!!

  5. Yup, there’s definitely a disturbance in the Time+Space continuum. Maybe they’ve stocked up too many of these?

  6. Something is definitely not right here. If you do a Website Redesign, it's done offline, then, once completed, you make the switch, which is usually a few hours at most. They've been down now for 4 days...that's not a redesign! So there is obviously more to this than meets the eyes...

  9. Yeah, nice to get two seats (for those of us that grabbed it last time) but the problem is unless they changed the authorization system you actually need two physical iloks to do it - or an active internet connection for a "cloud session" which is really lame. Just give us multiple seats and let up authroize to the ilok computer manager. This one is very usable.

  11. I get frustrated very easily with buggy software, and I don't have much patience for software with a steep learning curve. With that being said, when it looked like Cakewalk was going to not be supported anymore, I tried about 6 or 7 of the most popular DAWs. They all are good, but have different features and obviously different interfaces. After trying these DAWs for several weeks, I finally decided to go back to Cakewalk and just use the unsupported software until it didn't work anymore. Fortunately Bandlab came to the rescue and saved Cakewalk and I've been using it ever since. For the uninitiated, when you first open up Cakewalk (or any DAW software) it's going to look a little intimidating. But you DON'T have to learn everything about it all at once. Hell, I still don't know how to use a few features, and I probably never will because I just don't need to use them. But Cakewalk is no less or more difficult than any of the other main DAWs, in fact it's easier than some. I find it hard to believe that someone who works with complicated software, can't get the hang of Cakewalk, especially after watching so many tutorials, as you claimed. And as for it being buggy? That has not been my experience. If something doesn't work the way you expect it, it's a good bet that you're just not using it right, rather than it being a "bug". My suggestion (as others have already said) come back to this forum, change your attitude, and simply ask questions about things you don't understand, or are not working the way you want them to work. But don't take on the entire program all at once. There are some older "Sonar Power" books written by Scott Garrigus from previous versions, that are still quite useful. I suggest getting the most recent version of that book. Looking through my old copy of Sonar X3 Power, the vast majority of it is still relevant and can be a great guide. I like having a book in front of me, as opposed to watching video tutorials. Because I can refer to the book as I'm working in Cakewalk.

  13. Yes, the Slate one offers the highend boost one is looking for but in a more pleasing way. I had hoped the Bertom would do the same thing, but side by side the difference is obvious. Not that the Air Shelf is bad, it just isn't a natural, warm or whatever positive attribute you want to give it as the Slate is. The Slate one is pretty unique in its ability to boost the high end but not introduce harshness. WIth the limited authorization thing with Slate, I was expecting to use the Air Shelf as a replacement on other machines, and while it is usable, I personally don't think it is in the same catergory.

  17. In a Galaxy Far Away I wrote a song that I didn't think was all that good so I made it a video soundtrack. I guess this is a learning Davinci Resolve project more than a real video. I downloaded a bunch of clips from Pixabay and iStock and applied some fx tricks like chroma keying and blending options for interesting results. At least I think they're interesting. Well some are kind of stupid. Fun to do though. Some fx didn't blend well so don't look too close. Thanks for watching/comments. -Bjorn

  18. Nembrini Audio has released Hivolt 103 Guitar Amplifier. Here's what they say: A milestone of Classic British high-end tone. Hivolt 103 Custom Guitar Amplifier plugin is based on a vintage Hiwatt DR103 year 1970 with original Partridge transformer and military point-to-point wiring. Hivolt 103 Custom Guitar Amplifier plugin is a 2 channels amplifier with shared EQ for both channels. It has 4 inputs, 2 for each channel (normal and brilliant). Hi inputs are DOWN and LO inputs are UP. Patching of channels works here, and you can blend for additional versatility. All amplifier parameters knobs work as EQ/drive controls basically, they are very interactive and very responsive: Normal and Brilliant channels with independent High and Low inputs for each channel. Versatile and intuitive, perfect for bringing life out of dark pickups or taming shrill high end in bright pickups. Link the two channels for extra punch and dynamic control of your EQ via the independent channel volumes. Details: A complete recording chain means users can select between six different guitar cabinets, four microphone emulations with on/off-axis position switch, continuous position and distance knobs. A complete Mixer section with Solos, Mutes, Pans and Faders allows users to blend together the two microphones with the Studio Reverb. The Impulse Loader can load up to three third-party impulse responses, blend them together using volume, pan, phase, solo and mute controls plus a useful browser window has been added so all third-party IR files can be easily searched. Noise Gate section. Includes a cleaner circuit to reduce rumbling and harshness. Intro Price: $39.99 until February 28th, 2022 (Reg. $137).. https://www.nembriniaudio.com/collections/guitar-amplifier/products/hivolt-103-custom-guitar-amplifier

  37. Thanks. I will take another look at Kushview's Element when I have time to fiddle with it. It looks very handy, including potential for diagnosing software that uses audio. To be clear, once I figured out how to set up my Windows 10 settings several years ago, I have had no trouble using ASIO with my external interface for some things (as mentioned above) and Windows Audio with the mobo audio for other things at the same time. So (to take one example) for any standalone soft synths (among other software--including web browsers) I can set them up to use (A) ASIO Out (FW --> Interface) OR (B) Windows Audio (headphone out --> audio in to the Interface. It affords me tons of flexibility. Thanks for mentioning FlexASIO. I remember looking at that a while ago. Maybe its worth another round of exploration. I didn't debug the issue(s) with Kushview Element yet. Too much to do; too little time. All I know is with my current PC settings, when Element started running, it killed the audio coming from WinAmp [Windows Audio] and Browser-based audio [also Windows Audio] no longer worked. I suspect I will have to read the manual and reconfigure things (possibly just the default Element session). Fortunately, when I exited Element, both WinAmp audio and Browser-based audio worked as usual. That's cause for optimism--I should be able to run Kushview Element and have audio the way I want without it permanently interfering with my usual work flow when not using Element. I just don't want to read a manual at the moment. But without question, starting the default Element's session caused my usual audio to not work and exiting it gave control over my usual audio back. My days of reverse engineering software have long been over. So to me it looked like a takeover. But it wasn't a full-scale incursion. 😉
