  1. We're pleased to announce Early Access for 2021.12! This release introduces support for nested track folders, localization updates, various enhancements and optimizations, and over 50 bug fixes. We'd love for you to check it out before we drop the official public version. Please test Region FX clips with Melodyne, elastique time stretching and verify that VST3 plug-in operations work normally. Please note that Early Access installers are update installers, which only update from a specific version. To install the 2021.12 Early Access build, you must be on the latest public release of 2021.11. Download Cakewalk 2021.12 EA installer Should you need to revert to the 2021.11 release, you can download the Cakewalk 2021.11 Rollback installer. If you haven't already done so, please read about the Early Access Program before participating. Please keep responses specific to problems or comments on this release. Unrelated bugs or feature requests should be posted in other threads or the feature request channel. Thanks again for your participation! The Bakers Support for nested track folders To improve track organization, Cakewalk now supports nested track folders. A nested folder is a subfolder that is contained within another parent folder. Nested subfolders allow you to organize tracks more logically. For example, you can have a "Guitar" parent folder that contains "Electric" and "Acoustic" subfolders. To only move tracks into another folder, drag one of the tracks or select Move To... from the context menu of one of the tracks. To move the entire folder, drag the folder itself onto another folder, or select Move To... from the context menu of the folder. If a track is in a folder, selecting Move To Folder >New Track Folder will create a new sub-folder at the same level of that track. Note: As with the top level folders, any empty folders (i.e. specifically, folders containing no tracks) will ALWAYS appear below those containing tracks. Tip: When changing the color of a track folder, hold down the CTRL key to apply the same color to all child tracks within the folder. New behavior when dragging tracks/folders Dragging a track to the left side moves it out of the folder. Dragging to the right side moves it to the bottom of the existing folder at the target location (i.e. same level as the track above). Tip: While dragging, look at the left edge of the drop indicator - it will be exactly at the folder depth the track will be placed at. Expand/collapse track folder modifiers SHIFT+click on folder +/- to expand/collapse entire folder hierarchy of the folder you clicked on. CTRL+SHIFT+click on folder +/- to expand/collapse all folders in project. This is convenient if you want to quickly expand the hierarchy to search for a track, but then want to collapse it all. Localization update The French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Russian versions of Cakewalk have been updated. German and Portuguese will be updated before the public release. Note: There are several known localization layout/formatting issues (truncated text, etc.) that will be addressed before public release) Issues resolved in Cakewalk 2021.12 EA (build 27.12.0.093) Stability: Crash loading export task settings Crash if wildcard left in place when adding path Hang on project load with user project Fix for JBridge crash when flushing plug-ins Guard against crash/hang with sample counts going negative Export: Export task fails with no meaningful message if drive or path is invalid Export fails to render Radius stretched clips unless a time range is explicitly selected Export as MIDI File should not show audio track warning message Filename incorrect when recalling task with period in filename Regression: Audio export path not immediately updated on project save Export Audio dialog: Add keyboard navigation support Using space bar to update multiple selection items doesn't update range dropdown Selection flyout not updating Time Range dropdown Mouse wheel scrolling skips rows in 'Tracks/Buses in Project' list Inconsistent selection recall on Export Task recall Expand width of Export Multiple Files Task queue panel should limit its height to queue size + 1 UI: Preferences Categories illegible in High Contrast mode in Windows Expose Arranger, Export Audio dialog, and Tempo track to Help Module Folder colors / original folder ordering not restored on Undo Delete Folder Destination folder should expand when moving tracks Click on Folder comp clip not selecting all tracks Folders missing "Move to Track Folder" in Context Menu when single folder present CTRL + click folder color bar should change color for all folder contents Track range selection does not work as expected with folders Lasso select within Clips View selects all articulations Fixed accessibility/screen reader support in several menus (eg. plug-in menus) Add Subfolders count to top folder stats - added read-only stats for immediate sub-folder count Unable to edit tempo change time in Tempo Inspector Track Manager fails to open from Console view if project contains folders with nothing but empty sub-folders Archive button not showing tri state on folders Note: If you use a custom user theme, you must update the Archive button in Theme Editor (found under Tack View > Track Pane > Archive). 2. Long time ago, our sound was LoFi. Do you remember the Tascam and Fostex Cassette Tape machines ? - At this times, we dreamed from HiFi sound. - These days, our sound is HiFi. - And now, we are looking for tools to make it LoFi... WTF is wrong with us ? 😉😎😂

  6. It is working well here. My only comment is the Parent Folder should have some indication that it contains Sub Folders. It indicates the number of audio, midi, synths and hidden tracks contained in the folder, but the sub folders are not included.

  9. Yes, there's a lot more going on behind the scenes in order for undo/redo to work properly. There's a fair amount of bug fixes/improvements to track templates in this release, so it might be worth using smaller project templates and inserting track templates as and when you need them. Also, don't forget about the right click context menu on tracks and folders. A lot of the time, the "Move To Folder" command is a lot more convenient than using drag/drop.

  10. You can do this by selecting the top folder (which will select all the child tracks/folders), right clicking on one of the tracks and saving it as a track template. Importing the track template will recreate your folder hierarchy plus all the tracks.

  11. Totally get it! Lots of hype in marketing in audio stuff, so I was pretty skeptical, but I can see it fitting nicely along them as well. Sometimes it's worth it alone for the inspiration and creativity buzz 🙂

  12. That seems to me to be a massive template, I would be really enlightened by why you need so many tracks in a template, my inquiring furry mind is intrigued to know why? Thank you.

  13. Same here. But I love the analog feel of this. Sounds like there's a full redesign of MIDI coming in early 2022. Hmmmmm.

  16. Considering cakewalk doesn't come with a workhorse synth anymore ( RIP Z3ta+ and Rapture), Vital is a nobrainer in my opinion. Some really good presets available. Tip: if you download demo for Serum, those wavetables can be used in Vital

  21. I believe all of the great advice here (and a great read it had been!) Is missing the important point that it's a church gig. In a smaller congregation setting where everyone knows the players and parishoners without a scorecard, no problem, that's a very friendly and forgiving audience. And God will forgive you any misfingered trespasses. All will be well! Enjoy! And if it's a big megachurch, you're judged like it's the Rapture for every single note and mannerism you produce. Lord be with you cause the self-appointed critics in the pews may not be. Go for it and have fun!

  26. This is addressed for the next release. Its not a bug as such but was a missing case. Melodyne or any ARA plugin pre reads the audio and streams it as needed. I've now added special handling for ARA plugins to mute their output during override recording and comping.

  27. Many thanks to Dan Picknell, Danny Danzi and Hugo Ribeiro for helping Daryl and I get this song to the next level Note: remixed on 4 Jan 2024 This mix was reviewed by Warren Huart on Feedback Friday (via YouTube) 5 Jan 2024. HIs only critique is that "something" was clipping either on the master bus or before. Other than that he thought the song, production and performances were great. He especially liked the synth melody. Dan Picknell - Vocals Danny Danzi - Guitars Hugo Ribeiro - Drums Daryl Greenway - Lead Synth Ed Kocol - Bass, EP and light Synth Into The Night (c) 2021 Daryl Greenway & Ed Kocol Verse 1: I was raised on rock and roll It's in my head, my heart, my soul They say "You can't rock, you're too old" But I've never done what I've been told Chorus: Into the night I'm gonna rock Keep ticking 'til my clock won't tock I'm gonna run, no need to walk Into the night I'm gonna rock Verse 2: Rocking day and night was my thing Until I could make my guitar sing Waiting to grab the golden ring It's my dream and I will cling to it Repeat Chorus: Bridge: Nothing's gonna slow me down I'll keep rocking all over town I'll be here and always around In for a penny, in for a pound Verse 3: 2019 brought out a scare The days got longer, so did my hair Sat by the window, I could only stare From the comfort of my padded rocking chair Repeat Chorus

  35. In 1967 my Dad wanted to come to a gig and film the band. We were playing the Peppermint Lounge in Omaha, the second-most prestigious gig in town (read: psychedelic lights and girls who put out). I refused to let him do it. How could I possibly remain cool on stage with a parent and his 16mm movie camera? I was such an insecure dork at age 16. That footage would be priceless today.

  36. I thought it was only a certain company that likes to advertise on YouTube that sold this type of product. You could try something like reMIDI; not sure how many different variations you could load at once though https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/3-Studio-Tools/72-Utility/5935-reMIDI

  37. You are not constantly bombarded by Unison MIDI chord pack or NIKO chord pack ads on YouTube?? I'd imagine one would use this in a similar way, other than if these are only individual chords the user would have to actually experiment or know some theory to get usable results.

  38. I will take a look but can probably guess work flow(s) that makes these useful. I could share a few scenarios if you really are curious.

  39. I suspect that the chords are not your typical three/four note chords, but consist of different voicings, intervals and inversions. They might be useful to feed into an arpeggiator or some other midi manipulator as well.

  40. Ok, so I didn't want to believe it but it is exactly what it says on the tin: 1673 midi files that each contain a single chord. That's it. Can someone please explain to me why someone would use these? Is there some mystic workflow or software where selecting a midi file is actually faster and easier than hitting a C major on your keyboard? Or is this for people who don't have a keyboard? For people who want to make music without learning any theory? Not judging, simply curious. Though admittedly, I have now learned that you should use a different variation of C major for future bass and chillwave, and that Spanish hip-hop doesn't use C major at all (only C min, but you can use two variations of it). 🤷‍♂️

  43. I've released a new version of track on streaming. It's called Girlfriend On A Train and was originally released in 2018. I've since reworked it. All done in CbB and mastered with izotope. I had a bit of guidance with the mastering from an engineer friend in New York to help make it pop. https://open.spotify.com/album/4ddUDREqR5IWxTqcWdog7z?si=5uOd_DcPSLa84GbR_D94LA&utm_source=copy-link For those who don't stream, here's a link to Bandcamp: https://53mph.bandcamp.com/album/girlfriend-on-a-train-remastered Hope you enjoy.
